The A-Team (1983) s03e08 Episode Script

The Island

[gun firing.]
What do you want? This island! Hey, man, this captain saved my life once.
lf he's in trouble, l say we go in.
No plane.
Right.
Get a boat.
You've got a major heroin refining operation on this nice little island and l'm gonna cream your whole operation.
dead man! Four men come out of nowhere and think they can defeat an army.
We've done it before.
Well, now that baby is over 40 years old.
And it is a beautiful tank.
(Hannibal) Fire! (B.
A.
) From the A-Team, no love.
(male narrator) In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit.
These men promptly escaped from a maximum-security stockade to the Los Angeles underground.
Today, still wanted by the government they survive as soldiers of fortune.
If you have a problem, if no one else can help and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.
[gun firing.]
The boat is here.
Look! lt's here! Come on! Let's us go meet 'em.
(fisherman) Someone get the doctor! Melo is hurt.
A fishhook.
[knocking on door.]
Come quick, Captain.
Come quick.
Melo is hurt.
The fishing boat brought him in.
What is it? Melo is hurt.
The fishing boats brought him in.
l'll be right there.
What have we got? l got a hook.
We can't clean it.
No.
lt's okay.
Come on up to my hut.
[engines starting.]
[guns firing.]
Get inside! Clear! Clear! Get in there! [guns firing.]
Mickey! Mickey, get down! [groans.]
Go for it.
So.
We have a soldier here.
What do you want? This island.
(Vescari) lt's beautiful.
(Ryker) Mmm.
The whole island is sovereign nation.
The whole place is ours, Ryker.
They ain't never gonna touch us.
Never.
(Vescari) lt's our place now.
l'll take the jeeps up through the mountain road to the fortress.
Get the boat that is on the rock side of the island, huh? Go to Los Angeles.
Find the A-Team.
When you get to 'em give 'em these.
Tell them they're from they're from Captain Fallone and that he needs them, now.
Take care of yourself.
(Face) l don't believe this.
''A-Team needed.
Captain Fallone in trouble.
'' Fallone? Yeah.
And it has an address.
Yeah.
See, it's gotta be a joke.
Fallone was the best army medic we had in Nam.
Yeah, l remember him.
He packed it in after the war.
He wanted to get away from it all.
Went to live on some small island somewhere l think.
Just like Gulliver.
Went out into the Pacific Ocean away from civilization.
Met a small group of fishermen.
Now he's just baskin' in the sun and eatin' grapes the size of watermelons.
Hey, man, this captain saved my life once.
lf he's in trouble, l say we go in.
Wait, wait a minute.
l mean, what if this is one of Decker's tricks? Well, maybe it is.
But what if it isn't? Yeah.
l say we gotta go in.
Okay.
But don't you think we should know something before we go into a place like that? For instance, number one, the temperature it is 79 degrees, very humid, with a condensation factor of nineteen.
Second of all, boots must be worn at all times because of the variety of poisonous plant and animal life.
And third, and this is the most important for you, B.
A.
we must beware of the crocodilians from the Cayman family.
They have very large teeth for very large animals.
Hey, man, you gonna keep going on with this? No.
l'm done for now.
Good.
All right, Let's assume for the moment, that this is legit.
Okay.
All right.
Chances are, Decker reads the same newspaper, right? Okay.
Right.
So, we show up.
Bingo! He grabs us.
Now, Face, did l ever make it easy for Decker? Well, no.
Now, you see? B.
A.
, is the van ready? Guns and ammo.
We're ready to go.
Boy, l sure hope we don't run into any arborescent calla-like Montrichardia.
Oh.
Especially one of those.
Nothin' here.
lt's been over six hours.
l don't think they're showing.
Get ready to move in.
Let's go.
[car tires screeching.]
[engine revving.]
[brakes squealing.]
Please don't shoot.
Please don't shoot.
Who are you? My name is Mickey.
Wow! You're the A-Team? The A-Team? Us? Not quite.
Did you put this ad in the paper? Yes.
That's the one! l need the A-Team.
He needs the A-Team.
l think he's legit.
The kid put an ad in the paper for the A-Team.
What the heck are you soldiers doin' in here? Now, this is a respectable hotel.
You're scaring the guests.
Only two to a room.
There must be twenty of you around here.
Now, come on, get out! So, Hannibal Smith you didn't think l was gonna fall for another one of your phony disguises.
Let go of my hair! l don't believe this.
This guy's not Smith.
Bring the kid downtown.
Hey! Let me go! Let me go! Let me go! [shouting.]
Let me go! Let me go! Come on! Let me go! [gun firing.]
What do you say, Decker? You know l love a challenge.
Unfortunately, l have you at a disadvantage.
l was watchin' you through the window.
You know, it's a hot day and l hate to wear disguises on hot days.
l'm commanding you under direct orders of the United States Army to put down your weapons and place yourself into my custody! Forget it! Grab the kid.
Now, keep your head down.
[gun firing.]
[tires squealing.]
[guns firing.]
[tires squealing.]
l have no idea who they were.
They just came onto the island with their guns.
When the captain said to find the A-Team, the only thing l could think of was the ad.
Well, they say it pays to advertise.
lt's funny how the world goes, you know.
Fallone goes off to this island to help people, to get away from war and the killing and the hurt and he winds up shot in the arm and taken prisoner.
Guys, l say we go for it.
Oh, terrific.
Well, maybe Decker will borrow a boat and come join us for a luau.
Can't.
lt's a sovereign nation.
Why don't we get our own island? l've always wanted to start a democratic society, run my own country.
Cool it, Murdock.
You can't even run your own mind.
Well, that wasn't very nice of you, B.
A.
l was thinking of making you an ambassador to the coniferous trees.
Maybe even the podocarpus.
Yeah, maybe you can make me Sergeant of Arms so l can throw you out of the country.
When we get there, the first thing we have to do is find out where Fallone is.
Mickey, how big is this island? l made a map of the island.
lt's about twenty miles long.
Twenty miles.
That's a lot of land to cover.
Which is why we need a plan.
And a plane.
No plane, Hannibal.
No plane.
Right.
Get a boat.
Just as l thought.
Sclerophyllous vegetation.
lt's the perfect environment for the vertebrate class of reptile Crocodylus niloticus, better known as the crocodile.
So, watch your feet.
You know, Murdock has something with all this research.
lt's good to know what you're going into.
(B.
A.
) Hey! Hey man! Where am l? l told you no plane, Hannibal! Why you put me on a plane, man? Well, now, B.
A.
B.
A.
, do you see a plane? Does anybody see a plane? (Murdock) No, sir.
l don't see no plane.
l don't believe you guys, man! Come on, B.
A.
, this is America.
ln America, a man is innocent until proven guilty.
l mean, it's in the constitution.
No plane, no guilt.
Yeah.
Come on, guys.
B.
A.
, we need that radio homing device.
What a shame to ruin such a beautiful suit.
Yeah, well, if you're gonna be a playboy millionaire, you gotta look the part.
Yeah.
There you go.
Okay.
Where? Shoe? My watch.
Oh, they'll probably take that.
See, they'll probably search you very thoroughly.
My ear, huh? Well, l was thinking, like, someplace inside? lnside? lnside what? [scoffs.]
You're not serious.
You want me to swallow this? l made it! You eat it! (Murdock) You know, Face, if you were really smart, you'd do what we do at the VA.
Put it under your tongue, down the water, make a gulping sound to make them think you swallowed it, but it's still under your tongue.
Now that's if you're really smart.
Murdock, we want Face to swallow this.
l know.
We'll be right behind you.
We'll follow you with this homing device.
Nothing can go wrong.
Except the batteries only last an hour.
That's all you got.
An hour! l only got an hour! What happens if they can't find me? What happens if you lose track of me? No.
This changes everything, Hannibal.
You never said l only had an hour.
Face! You're at your best when you're under pressure.
[chuckles.]
Damn! l got a schedule.
l want these men moving faster.
Okay, old man, what are you doing? l am looking around and l don't see nothing but a bunch of old women.
We're workin' as hard as we can.
lt's hot and some of us men are old.
That's the last of your water for the day.
Now you have something to work for.
You want water, you finish the field.
But you can't.
We have children here.
[groaning.]
This is my island! l run it! l do what l want.
Oh, Flipper.
l'm empty.
Check him for lD.
[muttering.]
Boy, what a party you missed last night.
Where are the others? Others? Oh, yes.
Well they must be half way to Hawaii by now.
The last thing l remember was kissing Flipper and then washing up on this beach.
That's a nice outfit you have.
Listen, could you direct me to the nearest American Express office [engine revving.]
l have to catch a flight to Maui today.
How did someone get through security? Fell off a yacht and washed ashore.
He seems clean.
l want double guards on the beach in case we have anymore uninvited guests.
(Ryker) You want me to waste him? lf this is some kind of set-up, l'd rather have something to bargain with.
Take him to the fortress.
He' s moving.
Not a sound, all right? Who are you? Did Mickey send you? What? Mickey.
Mickey got off the island.
Dr.
Fallone sent him for help.
Who are you? l'm Kalani.
l work for Dr.
Fallone.
Well, where is he? All right, take me to him.
Captain.
Captain! Peck? Yeah.
We're here.
The A-Team.
Thank God.
[panting.]
How's Mickey? ls the boy all right? Yeah, he's fine.
ls he okay? He's fine.
Did he get any medical attention? We ran out of antibiotics.
l did everything l could.
We're gonna have to get him outta here.
l'm not sure l'm gonna let you move him.
Listen, lady, there's something you should understand.
l'm giving the orders.
l'm not even sure who you are or what you're doing here.
Well, trust me.
They should be here any time now.
Who should be here? (B.
A.
) The signal's coming in strongest behind this wall.
(Hannibal) Well, they've probably got Face and the captain together.
What do you see around the other side? (B.
A.
) Three guards are on the south side.
Two at the front gate.
What's our plan? l got two jeeps up at the north gate and a duce and a half at the front.
What's your plan, Colonel? We'll blow up this wall, grab Face and the Captain take out the guards and we'll jump on that duce and a half and ram through the gate.
How'd you know that truck was gonna be there? Well, l didn't, until Murdock told me.
You didn't have no plan! You didn't have no plan till now.
B.
A.
it's not when you have a plan, it's when you have a plan.
Ten seconds! [explosion.]
Let's go! Come on, move.
Let's go.
(Kalani) l'm not going anywhere without supplies for the doctor.
Come on, let's move! [Fallone coughing.]
Let's go.
Who's she? l'll explain later.
(Fallone) Face! You son of a gun.
You got here.
What did you think? [guns firing.]
(Hannibal) Cover us! l don't know! They're using explosives and heavy firepower.
[gun firing.]
Ryker, take half the men and work around the far end of the camp! l'll take the others and work toward you.
We'll have 'em trapped between us.
Word.
[guns firing.]
[tires screeching.]
(Vescari) Those men weren't from any gang we know.
They were trained commandos.
(Ryker) Maybe they were the Feds.
Without air support, no way.
Whoever they were, they were working independent to get the doctor out.
They got to be connected to the village.
Ryker, gather the men.
We're going into the village.
Right.
(Hannibal) ls everybody all right? Well, that all depends, Colonel.
Lookie, lookie.
Tell them not to shoot.
Don't shoot! Well, now, that baby is over 40 years old.
Yeah.
United States Army.
Well, at least it was on the right side.
Hey, man, come here.
We ain't going nowhere.
The axle's busted.
The captain's losing blood and he's got a really high fever.
l don't think that ride helped.
At least we got him out of here alive.
What are we gonna do now? First, we'll take a look at the map.
Murdock, B.
A.
, rig up a stretcher, and take the doc to the plane.
Plane? See! l told you there was a plane! Get off! Get off of me! l'm far too delicate to have your ugly mud-sucking hands all over me! B.
A.
B.
A.
, you know this is practically an archeological find? Hey, man! Get down from there and help me make a stretcher! (Murdock) Yeah.
l'm coming.
l'm coming.
[ l'm a-coming, l'm a-coming [ [ l'm a.
[[ [hissing.]
l don't believe it.
l don't.
lt is.
l know it is.
lt can't be anything else.
[bird twittering.]
Absolutely.
Elongated snout outer margin of the jaw is jagged a row of sharp teeth.
lt's Crocodylus Niloticus.
Absolutely.
Gotcha! l knew it.
l knew it.
Crocodylus Niloticus.
Wait till l show B.
A.
Now you just take it easy, Doc.
We're gonna take you back to the States.
You're a good man, B.
A.
Hey, man.
You saved a dude's life once.
Everybody thought he wasn't gonna make it, but he did.
Thanks to you.
And that dude was me.
Do you remember? l don't.
There were so many men in Nam.
You teach yourself to forget their faces.
You wear that chain.
lt's for good luck.
Lead Pipe Singe, huh, B.
A.
? (Murdock) B.
A.
B.
A.
, You're not gonna believe this! You're not gonna believe this! Guess what l found? You got water on the brain? No.
No.
Look.
[hissing.]
Hey, man, get that thing away from me! You know l can't stand lizards! lt's no lizard.
That's a crocodile.
You know, just like that cartoon crocodile, Wally Gator.
See you later.
My fist's gonna see you later if you don't get that lizard away from me! Now get back there and take care of Captain Fallone and be careful with him.
Don't worry, big fella.
Wally and l are gonna take good care of the doc.
Come on, Wally.
[ Let's go, Wally [[ (Hannibal) Now the village is about two miles from here.
We can get help there.
The village? That's suicide.
That's the first place Vescari's going to look.
lf he finds you there, he'll destroy the place.
My plans do not include being found.
Well, l hope you know what you're doing.
Vescari goes there twice a day to the village to pick up workers.
Lady, have a little faith.
Where is the captain, and where are his friends? l don't know.
[boy groaning.]
lf l knew l would tell you.
l don't want any trouble.
l wish those men had never come.
You'd better be telling the truth or you're dead.
[boy continues groaning.]
Push up the schedule.
We'll have to work them in three shifts.
Then we'll do it.
l want the stuff off this island as soon as we can.
Move them.
Move them out! lt's all clear.
They've taken the men away.
Great.
My son, Mickey, is he all right? Oh, yeah, he's fine.
You've got a brave little kid there.
Yeah.
He's real tough.
He's got lots of courage.
When will the planes come back for us? Will they take us all out of here? (B.
A.
) Sorry, ma'am.
The A-Team don't run.
And if you people leave, this guy's got you beat.
He's right.
This island's your home.
We intend to see that it stays that way.
Four men come out of nowhere and think they can defeat an army.
Well, we've done it before.
Right, B.
A.
? Right.
[door opening.]
[creaking.]
[thudding.]
[door opening.]
(Ryker) Moving the shipment up is pushing the chemists.
We still have to get it refined, get it cut and get it packaged.
l got holes leaking all over this place.
l want the stuff out.
(Vescari) Get cleaned up this island.
l gave my word l'd get the stuff out clean.
We'll do it.
Then l'm gonna find those men and stuff them in boxes! Hands up.
Up! Hi, there.
What's your game? l just stopped in to say, ''Hi, there'' and l find you've got a major heroin refining operation right down the hall on this nice little island.
And l noticed you've got the natives chained up so you can raise your own poppies so you won't have to import the crude from Asia.
lt's very efficient.
But, you know, l don't know which l hate the most, hard narcotics, or slavery.
So l'm coming back tomorrow and l'm gonna cream your whole operation.
You're a dead man.
l'm not really.
[gun firing.]
Good.
Hands up.
Up! Up! Nice.
[gun firing.]
After him! After him.
(Vescari) l want a meeting.
l want all the men there.
The boat's coming in tomorrow.
lt's all set.
Good.
Good.
(Hannibal) The best side for an attack is the west side.
But this Vescari is gonna be something else.
Yeah.
Hannibal, l should know better than to ask this question but does this guy know we're coming back? Well, l might've let it slip out, yeah.
Yeah.
l thought the element of surprise was too much to ask for.
Well, Murdock'll be in, in the morning.
He'll have supplies and ammo.
We will attack exactly at noon.
The plan is foolproof.
We found her sneaking around the compound.
Talk to me.
l want your word that you won't hurt the villagers.
They're going to make their attack at noon tomorrow from the west side.
How are they armed? (Kalani) A few revolvers.
Some automatics.
Nothing much.
Go back to the village.
Do what you have to do.
Act as if nothing has happened.
You'll let the villagers live in peace? You have my word.
l want everyone working all night.
l want all the explosives we have.
All the ammo.
We hit first thing in the morning.
When they won't expect it.
What about the girl? The girl? l feel very sorry for her.
Face, how much gas have we got? We got these two cans here and a full tank in the truck.
You're actually gonna try and get this tank working? We're not gonna try.
We're gonna do it.
(Hannibal) Hey, B.
A.
, how we doing? Not too good, man.
All the hoses are rotted and the tubing is rusted through.
But we should be able to use the truck's.
(Face) Colonel, l got a problem.
The battery in the truck is shot.
We got no juice.
Well, how would the battery from an airplane work? Why didn't l think of that? We'll rip off Murdock.
He'll never forgive me.
Mission accomplished, sir.
Captain Fallone was dropped off safely at the hospital and l brought some some tank ammo with me.
But, sir you and the other guys, you haven't by any chance come across some small worms, water insects, toads or tadpoles, have you? 'Cause, Wally Gator's getting hungry and that coffee l put out for him it doesn't set with him too well.
He's getting jittery.
(Hannibal) First things first, Murdock.
The tank, Murdock, the tank.
The tank! The tank.
The tank.
The tank.
And it is a beautiful tank! lt is inspirational.
This is survival in its purest form.
A motionless body, resting for 40 years.
Patient, waiting for discovery to breathe life into its very soul.
l'm gonna breathe my fist into your soul if you don't stop all this jibber jabber! (Hannibal) Murdock, go to work.
Work.
Work.
You got it? lt's a beaut.
You are created.
You are living.
You are whole again! Hey, man, that's a tank.
And that's all it is.
Pay no attention to him, Wally.
The man has constraints on his brain.
He has no understanding of the finer things in life like we do.
You know, Face, l like having a tank.
Yeah.
And won't Vescari be surprised? [chuckles.]
And won't he be surprised when we attack from the east, about 45 minutes before noon? l thought you were making your attack from the west.
Yeah, well, l just told you that so when you told Vescari he'd be in the wrong place when we attacked today.
How'd you know? l'm a light sleeper.
l followed you.
l was afraid of what Vescari might do to the villagers if you didn't succeed.
l was just doing what l thought was best for everyone.
Yeah, aren't we all? Well, don't worry about it, lady.
You did what l wanted you to do.
All right, let's mount up.
[rumbling.]
War is hell, Wally Gator, isn't it? We know about hell and we know about war, right? (Murdock) [ Wally Gator is a swinging alligator in the swamp [ [ He's the greatest percolator when he really starts to romp [ [ See ya later, Wally Gator [[ We're loaded and ready, Vescari.
They should be coming over that hill.
They don't have a chance.
(Hannibal) Load it! [metallic clanging.]
Fire.
[explosion.]
[gun firing.]
Stand by.
(Hannibal) Fire! [gun firing.]
(Hannibal) Fire! [guns firing.]
Any questions? Well, Captain, you two are looking fine.
Thanks to the A-Team.
We'll never be able to repay you.
Well, you just keep the sun shining on this island l might retire here, Doc.
No better place.
[ Wally Gator, Wally Gator, Wally Gator, Wally Gator [ [ Wally Gator, Wally Gator [[ Hey, man, where you going with that thing? He's going back to the States with us.
l mean, he's homeless, he's an orphan.
l can't leave him here.
How do you know he's an orphan? Suppose the mama's looking for him.
See, that's how much you know, B.
A.
The book says that once a baby croc is hatched he's on his own.
He's gotta fend for himself.
[crocodile growling.]
[crocodile roaring.]
(Murdock) B.
A.
, come here.
You gotta see this.
[crocodile bellowing.]
You were right, here's mama.
