The Amazing Race Australia (2011) s04e12 Episode Script

Season 4, Episode 12

Just 23 days ago, 11 teams
started an epic global adventure
in the South Korean capital of Seoul.
Go!
Yes!
She got it!
Whoo!
Yeah!
They were seduced by the Hang
Mua mountains of Vietnam
Try and keep it steady, baby.
Yes! Good boy!
..and wowed by the nomadic
Mongolian desert.
Oh, no! Look out! Oh, Jesus!
They then crossed to the
wild extremes of Africa
Viv, we're so close.
No.
You can. You can. You can.
Go!
..and were charmed by Thailand.
Yes. Thank you.
You're the first team.
Now
..we have three remaining teams
Push, Viv. Push.
We're home, baby! This is ours!
Let's go! Let's go!
..and all they've gotta do
is come and find me
Whoo!
..here on home soil,
in Northern Territory.
But who will be first
to the finish line
This is a 250K puzzle.
This was the moment of truth.
Yeah!
We're not gonna give up without a fight.
..in the Amazing Race Australia?
We're in Thailand's
hectic capital, Bangkok
..a city full of quirks and contrasts.
And it's from here
that we're about to leave
for the final leg of
the Amazing Race Australia.
Departing in the order
they arrived at the last pit stop,
only three teams now remain.
Fly to the Northern Territory
of Australia.
Northern Territory!
Top End.
Last leg.
Fly to the Northern Territory!
Well, where else are we gonna finish
the greatest race on earth
than back home in Australia?
We're heading to the Northern Territory.
A breathtaking mix of natural beauty,
ancient cultures and frontier charm,
Darwin is known as the
gateway to the Top End.
And for our teams, it's the last leg
of their grand adventure.
Fly to the Northern Territory,
Australia's Top End. Whoo-hoo!
Babe, we're going home.
Oh, my God.
Let's go.
Can you take us to the airport?
Yeah? Thank you.
This has been the most amazing
adventure I've ever been a part of.
And the fact we've been able to do
it together, like, side by side,
hand in hand, I'll take
these memories to the grave.
I didn't think it was possible
to fall in love with Tim any more,
but with every leg of this race,
I feel closer to him.
Can you believe we're in
the finale, the final three?
I'm so proud of us.
Never, in our wildest dreams,
would we ever think that we'd be here.
Top three, The Amazing Race.
Northern Territory, you beauty.
I've always wanted to go.
A bit nerve-racking, though,
'cause we know that's
Jasmin and Jerome's home town.
Yeah.
So that gives them
a bit of an advantage.
But we're all really strong teams.
We all have our own strengths
and weaknesses.
Coming into this race, it was
just not to get eliminated first.
Take it one leg at a time,
and here we are -
11 legs later, we're in finale.
At the end of this leg, one of us
three is gonna walk away with 250K.
Like, that's crazy.
Let's just get out there today,
Viv, and just smash it.
Like, let's just prove
to our family, our friends,
that we could actually do this,
you know?
Bring it on.
Like, super-excited for today.
Oh, babe, this is our leg.
This is our leg.
This is, babe.
Oh!
It's like we'd come full circle.
Like, we started the race in Korea,
all around the world,
and to end back in
the Northern Territory, perfect.
You and I, between us, have been
everywhere through the Territory,
so this has to be
an advantage for us, babe.
Yeah.
For our mob, our families, for them
to see us make the final three,
and to be able to race in the NT,
is just I think amazing for me.
Thank you.
How we feeling, guys?
Yeah, good. How are you?
Good.
Have you guys been there before?
No.
Jasmin and Jerome's home town.
Hopefully, they don't know it too well.
Come on, Tom and Tyler,
why didn't you beat them?
We figure with, like, even with
Jasmin and Jerome being from Darwin,
it's the challenges and that that
you've just got to slay anyway.
Like, they might know their way around,
but you've just gotta make sure
you get out of there first, eh?!
Thank you.
Thank you.
Let's go, babe.
We got Darwin! What an advantage!
Hate you guys.
Well, good luck.
Good luck, yes!
Good luck, mate. Good luck.
For the final time, all the
teams are now on the same flight
across the globe to tropical Darwin.
At least this time,
they won't need a visa.
Thank you.
Jasmin.
Search the Darwin waterfront for
Northern Territory News front pages.
Then separate the race headlines
..from published headlines
to receive your next clue
from the NT News editor.
Let's go.
A local Darwin institution,
the NT News is famous for its
sensational eye-grabbing headlines.
And for this next challenge,
they've cooked up some classics.
Hidden in and around the iconic
waterfront are stacks of newspapers.
To move on, the teams have got to
sort through them
to find the eight headlines
written about the race.
Get it right and they'll
receive their next clue
from the editor himself.
I guess it must have been
a slow news day.
Let's go, sir, please.
We're in a race.
We're in a race. We need to go.
Go, go, go, go, go, go.
Go, sir, to the waterfront please.
Alright.
Thanks, sir.
Wow, babe. We're here in Darwin.
It's started.
The NT News, you know, it's
a bit of an icon in the Territory.
You can always spot a crocodile
on the front page, or
A UFO.
It will be funny to see
what headlines are going to pop up
in the stack of newspapers.
Yeah. So, something race-related,
eh, babe?
Race-related.
Alright.
Can we take this left here, sir,
and go the back way?
Turn left here, please, sir.
We haven't read any newspapers in weeks,
so hopefully there's some big headlines.
It sounds like we're gonna be
a part of some of them.
Looks like this one is just
attention to detail. Yeah.
We should be able to get through
this pretty quickly. Yeah.
We're so pumped.
We wanna win so bad.
This way, Jasmin. This way. Jasmin.
Wait. Uh
This is the way you wanted to come.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
When we arrived at the waterfront,
we had to find eight different
headlines that related to the race.
There have got to be more.
You wait. You wait.
Yes, sir.
Let's go, let's go.
This way, though the back. OK, let's go.
Can you see any here?
Yeah, "Basket cases jump the queue."
Quick, quick, quick.
We've gotta get on that lift.
Can we go in front? Thank you.
Thank you.
Just jump in. Jump in.
Hey, hey, hey, hey.
They snuck ahead there.
They snuck ahead.
Yeah.
Some of the headlines
we recognised straightaway was,
"Birthday girl vomits."
Chuck it out.
The alien alliance forms in the desert.
We knew that there would be
race headlines
mixed in with classic NT News, which
we felt was a bit of an advantage
because we thought we'd be able
to separate the two.
We've only found four, babe, headlines.
Yeah.
There's gotta be more around here.
The Northern Territory News.
Right from the start, everyone
was running around like crazy.
It was out of control.
The dumpling thief.
That was Sid and Ash.
Remember how they stole
the nurse's dumplings?
I'm going to hell after this.
"Big voice serenades"
That's our first.
Yeah, that's it - wrestling.
I think the adrenaline went to our head.
We sort of weren't thinking clearly.
We weren't communicating
in the best way.
Hey, come on.
It was just chaos. It was mayhem.
Get in there, babe. Just grab some.
They're all the same.
Then grab all the other ones we have.
Yeah.
We need to find one more.
Viv and I have learned a lot about
each other over the past 11 legs.
I think we've grown a lot as people,
and I think the key for us today
is communication.
Wait, Viv.
Is that a rack right there?
Where?
No, is that
I don't wanna swim out there
if it's not it because
I'm tired.
I can't I can't tell.
I can't tell if that's just a ladder.
That could be a ladder. Nah.
Oh, babe, babe, babe.
On the top of the
Oh, my God. OK, you gonna do it?
Yeah.
Do not let them see you.
When I noticed that there was
a newspaper stand at the top of this
inflatable thing
out in the middle of the lagoon
Babe, they're looking.
..I'm going in.
Let's go. Dive in quickly
before they're not looking.
Just jump in.
Fast.
Oh, Tim.
What?
On top of that thing.
Where?
Where?
On top of the
Shh, shh.
Jerome's already out there.
Is he?
Yeah.
I'm gonna go.
Go.
I literally felt like Aquaman
speeding through that water.
I was like, "This is $250,000.
"Like, I need to get to the top
of this thing as fast as I can."
You can catch him!
You're hotter than Aquaman.
Oh!
Jerome wouldn't have known
what was coming behind him.
We're home, baby! This is ours!
You got it, Tim!
You got it! You got it!
Oh, go, babe!
Make sure you get the right one!
Have you got it?
Have you got it?
Yes!
I actually didn't realise
that you'd fallen like that
and that you were winded.
And here I am, on the shore,
yelling out
Come on, swim it out! Swim! Swim!
I was dying as you were screaming at me.
I was like, "I just can't."
Jump off like he did!
Just jump!
Oh, shit!
Catch him, Tim!
You're a strong swimmer!
We're home, baby!
Come on, bring it home.
You've got this. It's OK.
I think you need to go down there.
I can help you up.
Right. Here you go.
Get my shoes back on.
I reckon we need to get
all of them from
That's it. That's it.
Pass, pass, pass, pass.
You got this. Come on.
Go, Joey!
We'd been the first team to notice
the new stands on the inflatable
and ended up being the last team
to get all the papers.
I think at this point,
we're just stressed.
Silly mistakes are so easy to make.
There were certain headlines
that we weren't sure
if they were race-related or not
so we're just going back on forth
on whether or not
they were the right ones.
Joey, let's try
the non-race-related ones.
"Fool speed ahead. Amazing footage
of idiot surfing his boat."
Sid.
Oh, 'cause he sped Yeah.
That was
Mikayla.
We've come into this final leg
saying we're gonna stay level-headed.
We're just not gonna freak out.
"Fool speed ahead."
No.
Oh, my God!
After getting knocked back,
panic sets in.
That's definitely in.
We knew the majority
of the headlines were correct,
there was just one or two
that were getting the thumbs-down
from the publisher.
One of them's wrong.
We really had to just focus
and read all the different headlines
and some of them
were quite cryptic and witty.
So we really had to think
about which of the headlines
related to the race.
Come on, babe, go.
Just go up. Bugger it.
Done it.
Congratulations.
Thank you so much.
Once we finally figured it out,
it was such a relief to get that clue
and to be able to get out of there
before the other two teams.
Here we go.
Fly to Katherine, Northern Territory.
300 kilometres inland from Darwin
is the outback town of Katherine,
just a short plane-hop for our teams,
only this time, they won't be landing.
If they wanna receive their next clue,
they'll have to drop in
from 10,000 feet.
Let's hope none of them
are afraid of heights.
"When you get there,
jump out of a plane!"
Going skydiving was literally my
..worst, like, nightmare.
They're gonna be a long time.
I would never want to jump out of
a perfectly working plane.
I'm so scared.
When we saw Jasmin and Jerome
get the thumbs-up
Done it.
..it was heartbreaking.
We wanna win this thing so bad
and to see a team run off,
you just think, "Nup, that's it."
Anything else that doesn't look right?
We could see the $250,000 slipping away.
Maybe we try it without
"Fool speed ahead."
OK, let's do that.
As soon as we got rid of that
Congratulations.
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thank you, thank you. Go, go, go.
"Then jump out of the plane. Your
next clue is waiting on the ground."
Let's go, let's go!
They've got, what, 10 minutes?
Yep.
This race has shocked me.
I never thought I was so competitive.
We are not gonna give up
without a fight.
Please be here.
Yes!
Let's get rid of the ones
we know definitely aren't it. OK?
That's definitely not it.
There were certain headlines
that we weren't sure
if they were race-related or not?
So we've just been second-guessing
ourselves
on whether or not
they were the right ones.
It was just a matter of trial and error.
We just had to talk it out.
"Slippery suckers"
Well done.
Thank you so much.
Cheers. Alright, cool.
"Fly to Katherine, NT, your next
clue is waiting on the ground."
Taxi, taxi, taxi.
Even though we're coming last,
we were still confident
that we could catch up.
It would have been good
to leave first. But you know what?
We've done it before
where we've left last
and we've come in first place.
So let's just hope that today,
we'll play all our cards right.
Joey and Viv are petrified of heights.
Oh, really?
So This is good.
Yeah.
And hopefully, Jasmin and Jerome
struggle a bit.
Well, Jasmin said it would be
her worst nightmare.
Yeah.
So, I hope, like, fear cripples her.
Mate, we've got this.
- Hello.
- Hi.
Oh
How are you feeling?
This is my first skydive.
Remember I said to you,
like, you couldn't pay me
to jump out of a plane, and here I am.
Here it is. Yes, yes, yes.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
Oh, my God.
I'm just freaking out inside.
I'm praying.
I'm actually starting to feel
a bit queasy.
Just even thinking about
jumping out of a plane.
Here we go.
I'm super scared
but in a race like this,
I'm at the pointy end
where I'll do anything.
We have to do this
and we have to slay it.
Yeeeee! Hee-hee-hee!
Yes!
The hardest part was the
long flight there and the waiting,
the anticipation, I could see was
starting to really eat at her.
But once you're up there,
you're doing it.
The only way out
is by jumping out that door.
And then they open that door
Ooh!
..and I felt like my heart
could have just stopped.
Good?
Yeah. Let's do it.
Love you, my darling.
Because I was first out,
I didn't know what was gonna happen
so I let her instructor know that he
may have to kick her out the door,
if worst comes to worst.
And then I see Jerome
Oh, my God.
Whoo-hoo-hoo! Oh, my God!
Next minute, I'm being dragged along
by my instructor.
Oh, my God!
And he's telling me to put my feet
out side of the plane,
which is such an unnatural thing to do.
I just knew that it was
the final three
OK, time.
..and I just had to do it.
Oh, my God!
Whoo!
Let's go, babe.
Get down here, let's get going.
Come on.
Oh, that was a soft landing there.
Thank God that's over.
I'm pretty proud of myself.
But I'll never do it again.
Oh, my God, babe, how amazing was that?
That was
Well done.
I know how nervous you are.
Hello.
Well done, team.
Thank you so much.
Thank you so much, sir. Thank you.
Strip and read.
Oh, Road Block.
Oh, it's a Road Block.
Oh!
A Road Block is a challenge
that only one team member can perform.
Working animals
are an important part of the team,
up here in the Northern Territory.
Without their help,
many of the vital daily tasks
simply wouldn't be possible.
So, for this Road Block,
teams will need to master
the basics of animal training.
First up, they'll coax a cattle dog
around a course
before taking on the dangerous
challenge of taming a wild horse.
All they've gotta do
is get close enough to touch it.
Once they've completed both those tasks,
Tommy here will give them
their next clue.
I'm gonna take this one, babe.
Yep.
Let's go.
Oh, let's go.
Uh, gonna pay with
the Bankwest Halo ring.
So stoked to be skydiving in the final.
- Thanks so much.
- Thanks, mate.
Definitely feeling the pressure
at this point
because Tim and Rod and
Jerome and Jasmin had a lead on us.
Whoo.
I wouldn't say that
I was nervous at all.
I was just super happy
to finally go skydiving.
It's been a bucket list item
so getting into the plane,
all harnessed up,
it was really, really exciting.
I can't wait.
- Oh, my God!
- You got it, Tim, you got it!
Oh, my God!
As soon as that door opened,
it is so windy, so loud.
So the guy was like, "Pop your legs
out, put 'em over this thing!"
"Grab you chest."
And the wind's blowing in your face,
it's like
Whoo! Yeah.
And you just had to like
Oh, my God!
And stand up.
That's it!
Thanks so much. See ya.
Hello.
How was that?
Great!
Amazing!
"Who's ready to run circles
around this Road Block?"
Me. Yep.
Yep. I'll do it.
What does it say?
"Make your way onto the paved road
and turn left."
There it is.
We're in the plane, and once
the wind started picking up,
it was super-turbulent.
It's such a small plane, we were
rocking and rolling the whole time.
It was making me quite motion-sick.
It did not feel safe.
OK, you ready to go?
Here we go.
Let's do it.
We hit 10,000 feet
but then, unfortunately, the pilot,
they had to ground us
because it was too windy
and it would affect the parachutes
and you're gonna go down.
It sucks!
Don't get to jump.
Just our luck.
If we had just been a little bit
quicker at the newspaper challenge,
we could have been
the first or second team to jump
and we wouldn't have missed out.
Despite the fact
Viv and Joey can't skydive,
all the teams have maintained
their time difference and position.
So, no penalty for Viv and Joey.
It's play on.
Sorry, guys. Saftey first.
Thank you.
No dramas. Cool. Thank you so much. Cheers.
Road Block.
Right.
"Try your hand at life
on an Aussie cattle station."
I'll do it. OK. Let's go.
- There it is.
- Yeah.
Large covered arena.
Katherine Outback Experience
is this huge property.
They've got horses,
they've got heaps of dogs.
It's something that
I'm so not comfortable with.
Not that I'm anti-animals.
I just don't like touching them
and doing stuff with them.
Training working animals
is no easy task.
It requires patience
and nerves of steel.
These dogs are being taught
simple directions
using the country's
high-tech training tool -
the stick and the bag.
To receive their next clue,
the teams have got to choose one
and guide it around
the figure-of-eight course,
finishing up on top of the barrel.
But beware - pick wisely,
as the wrong dog can make or break
your hopes of a quick exit.
OK, who wants to come
with me? Who?
Fluffy, babe? Fluffy look good?
You choose. Just be quick.
My strategy with the dogs
was to go with an older dog
that was probably a bit better trained,
wasn't like a puppy, just running amok.
Let's go, Sarge.
You're gonna be my lucky dog today.
- So, around one drum Around the
other drum. - Then around
Yep.
Ready? Go.
Ready? Go. Come on. Come on.
OK, go. Ready?
Sarge?
Go. One Sarge, yep.
Sarge? Oh, my God. Sarge.
Sarge?
You're not meant to do that.
Sarge?
Come on, Sarge. Come on.
Watching on the sidelines
was excruciating.
It was so hard.
I was like, "Oh, we're in for a long
one here, on this Road Block."
This is so hard!
Sarge, come on. You're killin' me.
Come on, babe.
Excuse me, do you know where
Katherine Outback Experience is?
Yeah.
See where that big, open shed is?
Yeah. OK.
Turn left.
Yeah.
Here it is.
Hold up.
You got this, mate. You got this.
When I first walked into the dog arena,
there was just so many dogs.
Blue? Blue, come here!
Can I choose a different one?
I just thought I would go for
the adult dogs
'cause they'd be well trained.
Hello! Oh, kisses?
Oh, hello!
Come on. A dog named Fluffy
has to be the best dog ever.
You can do this, mate.
Take him off the lead
Ready?
..it's my time to perform.
Fluffy, back, back.
Come on, this way.
Quick, quick, quick, quick.
That's it. Up. Come here, Fluffy.
Fluffy! Fluffy! Fluffy, come!
Fluffy!
She runs away from me multiple times.
It was the worst feeling ever.
Come on! Fluffy,
come on, come on, come on!
Come on.
Sarge, this way. Sarge?
It was so frustrating.
Sarge, here.
This dog just had a mind of its own
and just wanted to do its own thing.
I'm gonna swap my dog.
OK. Who wants to come with me? Who?
Elsa
Let's go, Elsa. Come on!
Yeah! Elsa!
- Up there.
- Up there?
We arrive at this cattle station
and immediately, I spot Jasmin and Rod
still trying to complete the Road Blcok.
I pick Teddy.
Seems like a cute little dog.
Let's go, Teddy.
Go, Joey!
Yeah, Teddy! Get it, boy!
Yep.
Teddy was actually super-good.
I'm thinking, "Yes!
Time for us to catch up."
Yep! Get him on the drum.
Come on, Teddy!
There we go.
Done?
Yep. Done.
Whoo!
Yes, Teddy! Go, Joey!
Well done!
After my first attempt, I got it.
Whoo! Yeah, Teddy!
It was a great feeling 'cause I just
immediately overtook the other teams.
After that part of the Road Block,
I had to go and try and tame
a wild horse.
So, the main thing is you've got to
try and pat the horse
either on the face
or on the neck of the horse.
And if he chases me,
I'll just run the other way.
I'm a bit nervous.
It's a pretty big horse.
But we were the last to get here
and the first to finish
the dog training.
If it wants to run away,
then you just chase it away.
I can't chase after the horse.
My God, look at it.
It's hard to gain trust,
so it's more so trying to tire them out,
get them to look at you
and then just slowly approach them and
try to make them feel comfortable.
The horse keeps resisting.
I think the main thing
was just to remain calm
and just move towards the horse
really slowly.
Very good, mate.
- Is that it? Thank you.
- Well done, Joe.
Awesome.
Well done.
Thanks, Tom. Cheers.
Thanks for your time.
Take a helicopter
into Nitmiluk Gorge.
The Nitmiluk Gorge
is a breath-taking sandstone canyon
shaped by the Katherine River
over millions of years.
And it's here that the teams
face their final challenge -
to assemble a puzzle
that references the six different
countries they've visited.
Just to make things a little trickier,
we've hidden some of the pieces
down along the riverbank,
and the only way to retrive them
is by kayak.
Once they bring them back here
and assemble the puzzle
in country order,
then - and only then -
will they receive their final clue.
Let's go.
Yeah, let's keep goin'.
Push, Viv. Push.
We've been behind all day
but we're outta there first.
It's amazing. Like, we're actually
at the front of this race.
Just maybe we could win the 250K.
Push, Viv. Push.
There was dogs everywhere.
They were cute as.
And, so, we had to go in,
and we had to teach
these dogs, off a lead,
how to go around these barrels.
I was just like, "Well,
that doesn't seem too hard.
"We have a dog. I think
I'll be really good at this."
Come here. Fluffy, Fluffy!
Fluffy! Fluffy, come! Fluffy!
And he runs away from me multiple times.
Fluffy! Fluffy, Fluffy! Hey!
Oh, my God
Viv and Joey are the first ones
with their clue,
so to see Rod struggling with Fluffy
Back, back.
..I felt so bad for him.
Fluffy, come on!
Fluffy! Come on, babe.
You can't just rely on
yourself in this Road Block.
OK, Elsa, sit, sit!
I had to do it
in partnership with a dog.
Elsa, sit!
Sit!
And I kept going with the older dogs
and that's where it just all went bad.
Elsa, up, come on!
Please
Part of me inside was dying
'cause I just know how crucial it is
to just get in and out as quickly
as we could in this final three.
Elsa, up! Elsa!
Should I just swap it out, Tim?
Can you swap it out for Teddy?
Yeah.
Seeing Joey slay it
with the little puppy,
I was like, "I'm jumpin' on
that bandwagon."
Yes.
Oh, you ready to play?
He was so full of life.
Come on, come on!
This way! This way! This way!
He was like a super-dog.
He was running around the barrels.
This way! Oi, come on!
Dancin' round with Rod.
It was just so cute.
Up, up, up! Up, up, up! Come on!
Yes!
Good job, mate. Slay
this next thing. I know you can.
Oh, this animal's magnificent.
This horse was wild.
It was running around so fast.
And the instructor just said,
"It can feel your energy."
Try going the other way?
I'll just leave it on the ground now.
So, I was like, "I'm just gonna
take a big breath here.
"I went over to it really slowly."
Hey Hey.
Hello. Hey, gorgeous.
I had no idea
Rod was a horse-whisperer.
It was the most magical thing
I've ever seen.
You're so beautiful.
He was giving me Bindi Irwin vibes,
to be honest.
Not gonna hurt you.
The horse seems to love him.
Hey Come on
Hey.
Hey
Yep.
Yeah?
So proud of him.
There you go, big fella.
Thank you so much, mate.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
"Take a helicopter into Nitmiluk Gorge."
OK, let's go!
Alright, here we go.
Let's rock'n'roll.
Viv and I have learnt
a lot about each other
coming into this final round.
And just that never-give-up attitude
has definitely gotten us far,
and to this finale.
And we're that close to winning now
that we can just taste it.
Far out.
You know, we've come into
the Road Block in first place
and we were now third.
Sit! Elsa, sit! Elsa!
So I thought I may as well
give Teddy a go
because he's already
completed the course twice
and he didn't fail.
Come on. Ah!
Let's go, babe.
Teddy. Come on, Teddy.
Let's go!
Oh, I thought the puppy
was gonna be the naughtiest one.
Ah! Oh, my God.
Last one, last one.
OK.
Yes, go back. Get him up there.
Go!
Yep!
Come on, babe. You can do this.
When they brought the horse in,
it was making these grunting noises.
It seemed a little bit aggressive.
It seemed like
a particularly wild horse.
When a horse can sense your nerves,
they're not going to come and trust you.
So I went in totally faking it.
Inside, I was so scared.
I'm hoping that
her calm nature and demeanour
will gain the trust of the horse.
But I really don't know.
Well done, well done.
It was amazing.
I was so proud of her,
knowing that she was giving
her all in this final race.
Oh, thank you so much. Thank you.
No worries.
Thanks, horsey.
"Take a helicopter
into Nitmiluk Gorge.
"Search the landing area
for your next clue."
Oh, let's go.
Let's get out of here!
Whoa, this is gonna be sick. I've
never been in one of these before.
Oh!
Yeah!
The Amazing Race is hard. There were
days where I felt like giving up.
There was days that
Tim felt like giving up.
And we've had to be there
for each other like crazy.
This is amazing, eh?
- Busy day, eh?
- Yeah.
Almost done!
We really think that
we can finish this race on top.
We're doing this race for our son.
We want to make our families proud,
our mob proud.
And we're doing this
for each other as well.
Thanks, mate.
As soon as we got out of the
helicopter, we ran to find kayaks.
Watch that, Viv.
Go right, left. Left.
We got in the kayaks
and started searching
for our seven puzzle pieces.
Your oars are around the wrong way.
So spin it. There you go, yep.
Look over here first.
This one?
Knowing that the other teams
are still quite behind,
we were feeling really confident
that we could maybe actually
take this out.
Grab the bag.
We just knew that this is our time
to shine. Let's just do this.
You see straight ahead,
that little opening there?
You need to say left or right.
You're at the back.
Yeah, on your left.
This was Australia in its true
form. Huge, big, red rock walls.
We'd even asked our pilot
on the way in, "Is there crocs?"
And he's like, "Yeah,
there's a heap of crocs in here."
And then we go jump in a kayak.
We try to take it in.
We wanted to get those puzzle
pieces as quickly as we could.
There's one, straight ahead.
That's Thailand. We got Thailand.
We're about to land.
We're about to race.
We've got some ground to make up.
Let's do it.
Here we go.
So we hop in the kayak
and we're just paddling
through the gorge.
And we're kind of wasting a bit of
time trying to find the seven pieces.
I can see some on the shore
over there, babe.
At this point,
we have not seen Viv and Joey.
We know that they've landed,
we know that they're in the water.
Go. Get out, get out, get out.
Put it in that bag.
Like, we were actually
quite concerned about them,
because we didn't know where they were.
Go left.
It is so hot, seriously, under the sun.
Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.
Sorry, sorry!
So much time has passed
and we are making no progress.
No, if you
It was really difficult for us
to spot our puzzle pieces.
A lot of the time we'd see things
that looked like the piece
and then miss the actual pieces
completely.
Just keep Pull your head in, Viv.
Just keep your head together.
I was convinced that
we'd be the first out of there.
But again, somehow,
we just lost our lead.
I don't know how we're doing this
stroke. It's not working.
Slow it down.
I can't do it at your pace.
I know but I'm trying to
move the boat, Viv.
Track the teams every
step of the way on 10 Play,
with an interactive guide to every
location, challenge and result,
only at 10play.com.au/TheAmazingRace.
We've got to put a puzzle together.
But first, we need to hop in a kayak
and find seven missing pieces.
Alright. You right?
Yeah.
I'll wait here. Go.
So we've got another five more to go.
Yep.
Taking in this beautiful scenery
on this amazing country and land,
the Jawoyn land,
for a moment there,
I sort of lost concentration
of where I was and what I was doing.
Come on, Jerome. Please.
Paddle together.
You've got to go with me, babe. Yep.
But I quickly snapped back into reality.
We've got some ground to make up.
Let's do it.
That's four.
Yep.
Left, right. Other side.
Right. Left
We were pumped up,
paddling around like crazy
searching for these
seven missing puzzle pieces.
You got it?
Yep.
Got the bag?
Yep.
Left, right, left, right.
We were in sync.
We know each other so well.
So, to get that left, right, left,
right down pat, it was easy.
Bag, bag, bag, bag, bag.
I got nothing.
Absolutely nothing.
This sucks.
We found the first six puzzle pieces
but it was the seventh one
that just completely got us.
Nothing, right?
We circled around maybe three times
and just kept missing it.
It's probably not this far down.
At this point, I was feeling
really negative and down.
Keep your head together.
This gorge is huge. We could be
kayaking for, you know, hours.
Yes, there's another one up there.
Yes!
We're at the end of this competition.
We have a chance and a very close
possibility of winning this thing.
We're not gonna give up without a fight.
What one's that? That's Vietnam, eh?
Yep.
Bag, bag, bag.
We need two more.
Come on, baby.
Come on, baby.
We went up one side, back the other,
and actually found them all
really quickly.
Be careful, be careful.
Korea. We've got Korea.
Seven. Let's go.
Right.
We were back on the shore in no time.
Careful, it's slippery up here.
It's gonna be so slippery.
Have you got the clue there, mate?
Alright, so,
"Correctly assemble the puzzle
"for each country you've raced through."
It's time for the easy part -
assembling the puzzle.
Based on the clues written on them,
teams have got to separate the pieces
by the countries they represent.
Once they've figured that out,
they can start to assemble
the six country theme blocks.
Finally, carefully stack them up
to receive the last clue.
So, yeah, pretty straightforward
task, really, if you ask me.
This is South Korea here.
So you're the South Korea.
Where did Hayley and that go?
They were in
- They were in
- Mongolia.
Going into this race,
it was one thing that we said,
"We hope we don't get,
like, puzzle challenges."
South Korea.
Who went home?
The the
And now we're in the final leg
of The Amazing Race
and we get a puzzle challenge.
We were glad we had a bit of a lead.
There was so many pieces.
So many just random bits.
There's so many different shapes and
sizes. We didn't know what to do.
Can we start with what we know and
see if we can get the puzzle right?
OK.
Otherwise we're gonna take forever.
- Watch out, watch out.
- Ready? Up there.
You go right and right.
Get it, get it, get it.
Let's go. Get in, get in, get in.
Come on.
We've got all seven now.
Left. Right.
So let's go.
OK.
Whoo!
Oh, shit.
Let's go. Go, go, go.
When we finally got back to start
working on building this puzzle,
we could see Tim and Rod
had actually
started to get things in order.
Oh, that was, um, Malawi.
Oh, that's Thailand.
When we looked at the pieces,
it had all of the different flags,
different photos, you know,
different challenges
that had happened at each leg.
One, two, three, four, five, six
We were quite familiar
with all this different information
and that we'd be able
to put it together.
So I felt pretty confident
that we'd be able to catch up.
OK, we can do this.
Yeah.
Just want to make sure
we didn't miss anything on the way.
We've been on the water
for at least an hour
trying to find this last puzzle piece,
so a part of us knew that,
you know what?
This could be over.
You've got to help me, Viv.
I'm so tired.
I know. Me too, Joe.
We knew Tim and Rod and Jasmin
and Jerome were well ahead of us
and we had just lost
so much time already.
Right there.
Yeah.
You see it?
We've been in this place before
where we know we're dead last.
Finally, seven pieces.
But, again, it doesn't matter.
We're just gonna keep fighting.
Are you good?
Alright. Yep.
Never give up.
And just finish this damn puzzle.
Wait, they're still going, Joe.
They're still going!
It didn't look like
anyone had pieces assembled.
Everything's all over the shop.
I'm not sure if they actually
knew what they were doing.
But I think maybe Jasmin and Jerome
were sort of onto something.
But when I looked over
at Tim and Rod's camp,
it was just pieces everywhere.
This is definitely our
type of challenge,
so really this was for us
to make up some time.
This is a 250K puzzle,
so, uh, if I can crack this
This Nitmiluk Gorge is one of
Australia's greatest natural wonders.
Now all the teams have gotta do
is come and find me and this lot.
But who'll be first to the finish
line in The Amazing Race Australia?!
This is a 250K puzzle.
We can do it.
Feel like we're slowly getting it.
We've gotta build it up.
Why would it be that way?
We started with the first six pieces
for Korea
and we kind of worked our way
through each country,
just to kind of organise all the pieces.
But then it came to the time where
we had to put the pieces together
It's gonna be like two, two, two.
..this was the moment of truth.
It would either make us or break us.
How can a frigging puzzle be this hard?
We can get it, we can get it.
Just stay positive.
We were slowly, slowly, slowly
getting this puzzle tower together.
We are not giving up.
Nup.
We want that first prize so badly.
Do you reckon that's a fit?
Six pieces
Can't say I've played with
wooden puzzles in a long time.
Which is why I'm really annoyed now
'cause there's a trick to this.
Yep.
This is where we said we'd excel,
in challenges like this.
We got one layer, we would get the rest.
I reckon it's that way.
Yep. Just go with your gut.
I feel like I'm onto something
but I just can't finish this block.
Oh, so this is actually the cross
and not these two pieces.
Yep.
OK.
We entered this race to win and we
wanted to win it to change our lives.
It's this one. Give me this.
And we hope, like, our son
can watch this and see, like,
you know, you can be brave
and have courage and
..you can achieve anything. You know?
Babe, we can get this.
So, I think that looks right.
Yep.
We're just just about to get it.
- This crazy bit here.
- Yeah.
That's it. That's in.
We connected two together,
connected another two together,
then the final two pieces - boom,
we got one of the cubes together.
Is that it? It is!
That's getting taller.
It was seriously close.
Any team could win it.
Leave that on, leave that on.
Make it more like this.
Yes.
Why isn't this going in now?
Last one. Last one.
Have you got it?
Yeah.
So we've got one, two, three,
four, five, six.
Well done.
Keep going, Joey, keep going.
And another. Which is here.
Ah
Yep.
Once we get that final cube on top,
we are done.
"This is your last clue
for The Amazing Race.
"Search the gorge on foot
to find Beau at the finish line.
"The first team to arrive
will win $250,000!"
And searching that gorge
is not gonna be an easy task.
The final foot race is on.
We're about to give away $250,000 cash.
Now's not the time to get lost.
What does it say, mate?
"Search the gorge on foot to find
Beau at the finish line."
Go straight. Go straight.
We had no idea where the pit stop was.
We're in this huge, enormous gorge,
rocks everywhere.
We couldn't see Beau,
we couldn't see a map,
we didn't know where we were running.
The other teams were catching up,
they were getting their cubes together,
they were completing their puzzles.
Babe! Come on!
Jasmin, this way.
Let's go, let's go, let's go.
So, we knew they were right behind us.
Run, mate, run. We can do this.
We have a possibility to be
the first team there.
We cannot stuff this up.
We'll make it happen.
12 legs of running and racing so hard.
We're not giving up now.
- That's it.
- OK, let's go.
It's just every team for themselves.
We always say it's not over
until we hit the mat and we see Beau.
How are you feeling? You keep up?
Aha. Just go.
Don't stop running.
Don't stop running.
Give me your bag.
You sure?
One last time, hey?
One last time.
The race isn't over yet, we still
need to find Beau at the pit stop.
Just don't stop. Go, go, go.
Looking for Beau.
It has been one hell of a race.
It was seriously close.
Go, mate. You can do it.
So close, so close.
It's the boys.
Tim, Rod
..you are the winners
of The Amazing Race!
And you've won $250,000!
Oh, my God!
I love you so much.
Whoa.
How does that feel?
Feels so good.
It's honestly the greatest feeling
in the world.
We wanted it so damn bad
and it's finally happened.
This journey, this race,
this insane, crazy adventure
we've all been a part of,
it's just the full-blown rollercoaster
but it's the most fun
we've ever had in our lives.
We've learnt so much about each other
and at the end of the day,
we're still together.
After something like this,
I think we can both pat ourselves
on the back.
I'm just so in love with him,
my best mate, my soul mate.
If our marriage can last
The Amazing Race,
we can last a lifetime, I reckon.
Jas and Jerome on home turf.
And look at him, like a gentleman,
carrying his wife's bag.
Jas, Jerome,
you guys are runners-up
in The Amazing Race Australia.
Second team to check in.
Oh, thanks, Beau.
Oh.
Welcome home.
Thank you so much, brother.
Thanks, brother Beau.
Your son will be proud of you, bro.
Even though we didn't come up,
you know, with the goods,
I think we're still pretty proud of
how we went.
It's done a hell of a lot for
your marriage, you love each other.
Yeah.
Yep. Fixed up our communication
quick smart.
You gotta remember,
women are always right, bro.
Exactly.
I'm still learning.
Oh, thank you.
Viv and Joey
..you are the third team to check in
but you finished
The Amazing Race Australia.
Well done, Viv. Well done.
Oh.
You are the smallest people
I've ever seen in my life.
But you have the biggest hearts.
What have you learned about each other?
I learned that Viv just needs to
stop underestimating herself.
You know, she doubts herself a lot.
She's done
..she's done so well, you know?
She can do everything.
Joey's a champ.
He just smashed it in
a lot of Road Blocks
and we wouldn't have gotten to
the final three without him, so
Congratulations to the winners
and let's bring it in, huh?
We're going home! We're going home!
This race challenges you mentally,
it challenges you physically.
You have the greatest days of your life,
you have the worst days of your life.
We did it together.
I love you so much.
I love you.
