The Fosters s04e16 Episode Script

The Long Haul

1 Previously, on The Fosters I know you killed your grandmother - and we're gonna prove it.
- You're crazy.
Troy didn't kill his grandmother.
They have all kinds of proof that he was at work.
- Are you pregnant? - Nobody else knows.
Brandon: I would support your right to make your own decision.
- She isn't pregnant anymore.
- You're screwing my brother! - That is not true! - No, she's not! Jude: Why don't they talk about gay sex? How do you think that would play with the parents? Lena: Gays and lesbians are really left out.
I'm gonna make sure they get informed off campus.
- I wanna adopt you.
- Ana has a record, you know.
They wouldn't let her move in here while Mike was fostering you.
But now that he's adopting you, that won't be an issue.
- Can I help you? - Could I maybe get you a cup of coffee? We are filing for divorce, so we can freeze our assets.
I see a beautiful woman with a spirit 10 years younger than me.
I'm sayin' this isn't a fling.
Will: I go every year, but this is the first time - I've had a beautiful plus one on my arm.
- Sharon: Stop it.
Mariana: Is Joshua Tree where Burning Man is? - Sharon: No, it's in Nevada.
- How do you know that, Mom? - We're going next summer.
- So, what do people do exactly at an RV rally? - Well, we do 'shrooms.
- Mother! - What? They're not drugs.
- Yes, they are.
Don't get any ideas, you guys.
I mean, mostly it's about meeting other roadies.
We share stories.
We get present with the Mother.
- Earth.
- Mm.
We have met some fascinating characters.
And they have met you.
- Should I tell 'em about our last night? - Sure.
Let's see, we were with some some good friends, and we're around the campfire, underneath this canopy of stars and, uh I asked your mother to marry me.
- Oh - Mariana: Oh, my, God! - (laughing) - When's the wedding? Am I a bridesmaid? Well, look, I mean, I was hoping Vegas, but - I love Vegas.
- Honey, you've never been to Vegas.
Well, I I've already gotten married in Vegas once to Stef's dad, but wherever we get married, I I wouldn't wanna do it without you all there.
What we're thinkin' is we all just head down to the courthouse together.
Oh gross, no.
You should have it here.
Oh, no, no.
No.
- That's too much to ask.
- No, no, it's not.
Mariana, love, I'm I'm a little busy with my new job.
- Mom is not busy.
- Yes, I am, honey.
I have to take Jesus to physical therapy every day and Well, I'm not going anymore.
What? Yes you are.
- No, I'm not.
- Jesus? Forget it, really.
I mean, you're too busy.
I mean I I would take care of everything.
And I'll help.
Sure, let's let's do it.
All right! So you just point me in the direction of a good caterer, maybe some place to rent a chuppah.
Mariana: Ooh, and a florist.
We need flowers.
You're awfully quiet tonight.
I know you're scared, Cal.
I'm fine.
You don't have to put on a brave face for me, you know you're not in this alone, my love.
I am not gonna let you go to prison, and neither are Robert's lawyers.
The burden of proof in adult court is much higher, and they have no proof whatsoever that you caused that accident.
I just don't understand why Troy wouldn't take the money, - if he's in debt.
- Well, the lawyers are looking into Troy and his character, and they're gonna find something.
He didn't become a liar overnight.
I'll take care of the rest of this.
You go get some sleep, all right? - I love you.
- I love you.
Hey, Ma.
You guys settled in all right? Yeah.
It's so great now that you have the guest house.
I'll have to come more often.
Yeah, in that case, maybe we'll convert it back to a garage.
- Ha-ha, very funny.
- Ha-ha-ha.
Listen, I need to talk to you about something.
Okay.
Will wants to ask you for my hand in marriage.
And, uh, he wanted to do it before, but he didn't think you liked him.
Okay.
Well, I like him fine, so you can tell him that he has my blessing.
Well, I want you to tell him that he doesn't have your blessing.
Because I really need you to get me out of this.
(theme music playing) It's not where you come from It's where you belong Nothin' I would trade I wouldn't have it any other way You're surrounded By love and you're wanted So never feel alone You are home with me Right where you belong Why don't you wanna marry Will, Ma? Hmm.
We're havin' such a good time, why ruin it by putting a ring on it? Why did you say yes in the first place? I didn't wanna say no in front of our friends and humiliate him, and that's why I said I wanted to do it here.
You know, buy a little time.
Make a plan.
Okay, well, me breakin' the news to him is not a plan, Ma, and it's not even an option, okay? You're a grown woman, kind of, so you go talk to him.
Ma? Okay.
Fine.
I'll go break his heart right now.
(school bell ringing) Hey, check it out.
(laughs) Hey, Foster.
Can't wait for gay sex ed at your house.
- Are your moms teaching? - No.
Are they gonna do a little show-and-tell? I'd like to see some girl-on-girl action! (laughing) I mean, I make a mean cinnamon bun.
You mean like in the tube you whack on the counter? - Yeah.
- No, that's that's not baking.
What? You gotta cook 'em and watch 'em rise.
Oh, you like watchin' those buns rise? - Hey, now.
- Hey.
- There she is.
- Mm.
You know Callie, my girlfriend? Uh, this is Dawn.
- She's on the girls' basketball team.
- Oh.
- And we were just talkin' about the bake sale.
- Mm.
Yeah, so we'll count on those homemade cinnamon buns of yours, then? - You got it.
- Good.
- Nice to meet you.
- Yeah, you too.
She seems very interested in your buns.
What? I was actually just tellin' her that there's nothin' as sweet as you.
Ugh! Hey, maybe you guys can date when I'm in Los Colinas.
Women's prison? Don't say things like that, Callie.
I just hate all the waiting.
Not knowing what's gonna happen.
Is there anything I can do to help? Do you have plans after school? Nothing I can't change.
(doorbell ringing) Hey.
Um Jesus isn't feeling well right now.
I know.
He texted me.
I just wanted to give him this.
Oh.
Um You know, he's - really sorry.
- He's not the one who should be sorry.
He's not just being paranoid.
What he said I mean, there is something going on with you and me.
We're not hooking up or anything, but there's this secret, and I just can't face him and not tell him the truth, so I've been avoiding him.
So, I I wrote him this.
It doesn't say anything about you.
He doesn't ever need to know that you went with me, but I just can't tell him to his face.
I mean, what if he freaks out, or I I I think the letter is a good idea.
Thanks.
Will you give it to him? Yeah.
Thanks.
Narrator: treehouse was constructed with permanence and sustainability in mind.
The design allows for flexibility (knocking on door) Hey.
So I, uh, I talked to Emma today.
Yeah? What'd she say? Not much.
She just, uh she wanted me to give you this.
What do you think it's like a - break-up letter or something? - No.
Um did you want me to stay? No.
Nah.
I'm I'm okay.
- Thank you, though.
- Yeah.
(sighs) - Hey, love.
- Oh, hey.
Hey, will you grab those off the printer for me? Yeah, sure.
Permission slips.
Yeah, Monte's making me get them for the sex ed class, even though it's not on campus.
- Uh-oh, she's really, uh - Covering her ass? - Yeah.
- Mmm.
Anyway, only two kids have gotten them signed so far, so it looks like it's gonna be a pretty small class.
Why don't you guys just hang a huge sign on the house that says "Gay virgin lives here.
" No, we thought about it, but it's just too expensive.
Sorry, buddy, I'm just kidding.
What's going on? Is that what kids are saying at school? No.
They're just asking me if you two are gonna do it, you know, demonstrate.
Do we have to have the sex ed class here? (sighs) Honey, I guess I could try to find a community room somewhere.
Okay.
Oh, hey, you know, we also think that you should invite Noah to the class.
Why? Because you guys are dating and curious.
It'd be good for him to have that information, too, don't you think? - Okay.
- Great.
One more thing to take care of.
Well, I can look and see if there's a room available at the station.
All right? And speaking of work, I am on call this weekend.
- Uh, what about the wedding? - There's not gonna be a wedding, love.
Oh, really? She hasn't told him yet? - I tried, I did try.
- Mom! - Obviously you didn't try hard enough.
- What can I say? He was He was waiting for me last night, you know - in his birthday suit.
- Okay, Mom, uh, I He seduced me and then I couldn't tell him after sex.
And this morning, he got up and left before I woke up.
Well, you have to tell him before he spends any more money or time on this.
Well, I can't tell him before dinner, because he wants to cook for us, - and he's already shopped, so - Hope it's not gonna be tofurkey again.
Well, I'm just glad someone else is gonna cook for once.
- Yeah.
- After dinner, Mom.
Yeah, okay.
I I know, I will, I promise.
- Hey, Grandma.
- Hey.
- It's gonna be so beautiful.
Are you excited? - Oh, you bet.
Yeah.
Okay, so apparently, they invited a bunch of their RV friends, so we're gonna have to call a caterer.
- Oh, God.
- What? What's wrong? AJ: Scuba divin'? You got a new hobby you wanna tell me about? Thinkin' about it.
All right, come on, Callie, what are we doin' here? (clears throat) Troy Johnson said he was working here the day that Martha No, Callie, no, no.
Your trial is comin' up.
You need to be thinkin' about that, not worryin' about some murder.
Which is the reason why you got into all this trouble to begin with.
Well, that's not what I'm trying to do.
I'm trying to prove that Troy is a liar.
If he wasn't working here that day But the manager confirmed he was here, right? And there's security video of it, too? Yeah, we can't trust the evidence in this case.
Kyle had an alibi witness and they shut him up.
The only way we can know what Vanessa Martin said is if we ask her.
You're not talkin' to anybody.
- Hi.
- Hey.
- Can I help you? - Uh, yeah.
I was, uh, lookin' for Vanessa Martin.
I, uh, used to work here, and I was hopin' she could write me a letter of recommendation.
Yeah, she hasn't worked here for a while.
Uh, do you know where I could find her? I know where you could reach her boyfriend.
Hey, Troy.
Someone to see you.
This guy's looking for Vanessa, says he worked here with her.
- Oh, yeah? When was that? - Uh A few years ago.
I've been here for five years, I don't remember you.
Yeah, well, I was part-time.
I, uh, I was just hopin' that she could, um, write me a letter of recommendation.
Uh, but it's it's not a big deal.
It's it's okay.
No, it's fine.
Look, I'm sure she'd be happy to do it.
Why don't you, um, just give me your name and number, and I'll have her get a hold of you.
- Okay.
Thanks.
- Yeah.
- All right.
Thank you.
- Cool, thanks, Chris.
Okay, so Vanessa doesn't work here anymore.
But guess who does? - No way, Troy? - Yep.
It's a good thing he doesn't know who I am.
- But you talked to him? - Yeah, well, I didn't mean to.
But, you know, when I asked where I could reach Vanessa, they told me to talk to her boyfriend.
- Troy's her boyfriend? - Mm-hmm.
He's dating his alibi? - (banging on window) - (gasps) I told you to stay away from me, you little bitch! Go! Callie! Callie! Drive! I got you on the security cameras! I'm gonna call the cops if you ever come near me again! - Drive! - You, too! This is harassment! Will, thank you so much for dinner.
Oh, hey, I just wanted to thank you all in advance, 'cause I know this wedding has been an inconvenience.
- What is in this? - Those are grilled carrots.
It's crunchy.
And listen, thanks for letting us invite our friends, - you know, they were pretty insistent.
- Of course.
Absolutely.
And you kids, you have to invite your significant others, okay? 'Cause this is not just about celebrating our love, it's our love.
Oh, I almost forget.
I have a surprise.
- (muttering) You're not the only one.
- You, uh, gonna invite Emma? Uh yeah.
- Probably.
- Why wouldn't he? I'm just asking.
Jude, did you ask Noah about class tomorrow? Yeah.
Um he's not gonna be able to make it.
Class on a Saturday? What kinda class is that? It's LGBT sex ed, since they don't teach it in schools.
Oh.
That sounds interesting.
Could I come? - No.
- No.
Mom Wow, champagne! Oh my gosh! What's the, uh, special occasion? Uh we're getting married tomorrow.
Oh, well, yeah, that.
- That's all.
- But, uh, heh you know, tonight, what is the special occasion tonight? This is like a rehearsal dinner, so I thought it appropriate that I make a toast to the woman who saw my RV (laughs) in her neighborhood, and 48 hours later I think it was less than 48 hours later, organized a campaign to kick me out.
Well, how was I supposed to know it wasn't a meth lab? You are a force of nature.
And, Sharon, there hasn't been a day that's gone by that I haven't woken up grateful for you, for your heart, and your wit, and your beauty, and your compassion.
And Stef, I know I should've asked for your blessing before I popped the question, but I am asking for it now.
Okay.
Yes.
Thank you.
Sharon, thanks to your your strict adherence to neighborhood zoning laws, you've given this wandering heart a home.
And I'm so lucky to get to travel this life - with the likes of you.
- Thank you.
Lena: Hm.
This is delicious.
Ooh, I forgot the bottle.
How could I not marry that man? So you're in? - I would be a fool not to be.
- Yes! - All right, who wants a refill? - Uh, me, right here.
- There you go.
- Me next.
- All right.
- That's great.
Knock, knock.
I got a bunch of meds your mom sent up for you.
I tell you, with all those prescriptions, - you'd fit in with some of my friends.
- Hmm.
So what do you got there? - It's a letter from Emma.
- Hm? Yeah, I just, I kind of have a headache, and my eyes are tired.
I've been trying to read it, - but I can't really focus.
- Aw, - I'm sorry.
- (laughs) I could read it for you if it's not too personal.
No Yeah-yeah.
All right.
Let's see what Miss Emma has to say.
"Hey!" What is it with you kids and "hey"? What happened to the old "Dear," you know? - "Dear Dear Jesus.
" - (Jesus laughs) I'm not gonna editorialize anymore.
"Even when we were just friends with benefits.
" - (laughs) - (laughs) "Even when we were just friends with benefits, I loved you.
" - Oh, so far not so bad, huh? - I feel like - there there's a "but" coming, though.
- Hmm.
"But things have been hard, with all that you're going through.
I'm sorry I pulled away the other day, but it wasn't you.
It's me.
- Is that it? - These These, uh, progressive lenses, they are just a nightmare.
(clears throat) Here it is.
"I'm just trying to deal with everything the best I can.
And if you wanna talk about it, I'm totally willing.
I hope you understand.
" I thought she was gonna break up with me.
Mm-hm.
No, I think she's just looking for a little reassurance from you.
Yeah.
But I think you're gonna wanna look at that letter yourself when you feel a little better.
Thanks.
I read your letter.
And you have nothing to be sorry for.
I'm not mad at you.
I totally understand.
And we definitely don't need to talk about this.
And I love you, too.
- (Energetic music) - I should've just canceled this class.
- Why? - I've only got three kids, - and that's assuming the other two show.
- Listen, the point is to do it for Jude.
Right? And maybe with fewer kids, they'll ask more questions.
Huh? Well, now it's all we got When will it stop? Won't you open a window breathe in the morning Oh my No.
Hey, are you guys all here for sex ed? - Yeah.
- Yeah.
Okay, well, I only have two signed permission slips.
So do the rest of you have yours? Well I I didn't really ask my parents.
They don't know about me, they'd totally freak out.
Hang tight, one second.
Hey.
What are you doing here? Um, your mom sent my mom a permission slip.
- Do you not want me here? - N No, of course I do.
I just didn't think that this would be something that you'd be interested in.
Why not? What are you gonna do? How can I turn them away? Kids who can't come out to their parents? They need this more anybody.
What if Monte finds out? Rule number one: When partners are responsible, and when they respect each other, sex is natural, healthy and pleasurable.
And today we're gonna talk about it, without judgment, fear or shame.
So, who wants to break the ice? Yes? Um what if two partners you know, uh - wanna play the same position? - Woman: Fantastic question.
Sometimes partners have sexual likes that might not perfectly align.
(doorbell ringing) You, me, sittin' on top of the world Carefree, just a boy and a girl Hi.
(laughs) Come in.
It's likely we're both falling in love You, uh, you look really really nice.
Thanks.
(laughs) - Is that that what you're wearing? - (laughs) No.
No, I haven't I haven't dressed yet.
Are we good? Yeah.
Yeah, of course.
I was gonna ask you, I mean, are you really - you okay? - Yeah.
Especially if you are.
Thanks for, uh, doin' this.
The guy I usually play music with kind of just broke up with my sister.
(laughs) No worries.
I'm honored you asked.
I do have to leave by six, though.
I'm doing this, uh stand-up at this open mic night, and you have to sign up really early to get onstage.
Stand-up? Like comedy? - Yeah.
- Aren't you scared you're gonna like - bomb? - Yeah.
That's the point.
(laughs) - (laughs) - I read this book, My Year with Eleanor.
And it's based on that thing Eleanor Roosevelt supposedly said: "You should do one thing a day that scares you.
" So, I'm following her advice.
One thing a day, bungee jumping, skydiving And stand-up comedy.
- Yeah.
(laughs) - Right.
So you're like a a masochist? No.
I just, you know, I like to challenge myself.
Feel like I'm really living.
I had sort of a sheltered childhood.
Exactly, exactly the same Um, you know what? I'll I'll be right back.
- Cool.
- Sittin' on top of the world Hey.
Everything okay? - What did Jesus say about the letter? - Just that he's not mad and he understands.
Well, that that's good, right? Here comes the bride, almost! Hey, Grandma! Hey, Grandma, you know Emma, right? - Jesus's girlfriend? - Oh, yes, of course, I remember you.
- Hi, how are you? - I'm fine, thank you.
- Congratulations.
- Why, thank you.
You know, I could use a little help with my dress.
- You got a minute? - Sure.
Perfect.
Oh, my God, you scared me.
I'm sorry.
I couldn't resist.
What you lookin' at? Vanessa accepted Mariana's friend request.
Troy's girlfriend Vanessa? I didn't think she'd friend me.
I'm gonna get something to drink.
I'll be downstairs.
Honey, do you really think this is a good time to go through the mail? This is your mother's wedding, you've barely lifted a finger.
Well, I didn't think there was going to be a wedding.
And I'm only going through the mail because I thought I saw something important.
Turned out, it was our divorce papers.
It's official, we're no longer married.
Which right about now, you're probably happy about.
- Congratulations.
- I am not happy.
I hate that we had to get a divorce just to keep our house.
Well, you know, we had no choice.
Duh, they were gonna sue us.
We'll We'll get married again, you know, great.
You know, I am not throwing another wedding, ever again.
We can go to the courthouse, I'll wear flannel.
Honey, we are married.
Why do we need another piece of paper to prove it? Besides, it's just one more thing to put on our never-ending to-do list.
Will you unwrap this? I have to get some more platters.
Ohh! (laughs) Wow! Wanna zip me up there? I love your dress.
(laughs) You don't think I'm too old to pull it off? Not at all.
Thank you.
Listen, I wanted to tell you that, um Jesus asked me to read the letter that you wrote him.
- Why? - Not for me.
He asked me to read it because his head hurt and his eyes were tired, and I didn't read all of it.
I mean, I I did, but not out loud.
I skipped over the part with the I just want to tell you that I, I support your choice.
Do your parents know? I was gonna tell my mom, but she'd maybe wanna talk to Stef and Lena, and I didn't know if Jesus and okay with that.
Yeah, I wanted to tell him, you know? I'm sure you did.
But I can understand why you couldn't.
You don't have to worry about me, okay? I mean, I wasn't even supposed to see that, so I would never tell anyone.
I just needed to know that you were okay.
Thank you.
Mm-hm.
Yeah.
Almost as cute as your disco outfit.
- (laughing) - (thunder rumbling) Damn.
- Is it gonna rain? - I hope not.
So, um what'd you think of the class? Um I don't know.
You, um - you asked a lot of questions.
- I did? About stuff that I figured you already knew.
I don't know everything.
But you've had sex with three people.
Well, not sex, sex.
Other stuff can be sex, too.
- So you haven't - No.
- Do you want to? - Maybe, someday.
But, like I'm not, like, ready.
Are you? No.
Well do you wanna do some other stuff? Hey, um have you seen Grandma? No.
Hey, did you know it was gonna rain? Yeah.
That's why I planned an outdoor wedding.
It's not gonna rain.
Oh, look, there's Will.
- Hey! - Hey.
Uh, skies look a little ominous.
Well, how was I supposed to know? - It rains like one day out of the year! - It's okay.
I'm just sayin' I think maybe we should get the show on the road.
Already on it.
Have you seen the bride? No, I can't, that's bad luck.
Right.
At my front door I thought that I had lost them Whoa, but now I'm found and there's nowhere else So, I know you said that we don't need to talk about it, but you read all of my letter, right? Yourself? I mean, obviously, you read it yourself.
Can we please just stop talking about it? - Yeah.
- We're good.
Yeah.
- I don't see our cards.
- Yeah, me neither.
I hope we're sitting together.
Okay, so I found Grandma.
And you need to come upstairs, like now.
So are you mad at me? Not everything's about you, Callie.
I just found out the only reason Mike wants to adopt me is so Ana can move in.
What do you mean? Because she has a record that won't let her move in if he's fosterin' me.
First of all, I don't think that's the only reason.
Why didn't you tell me? 'Cause all we do is talk about you, Callie.
Sorry, I might be going to jail, so Who's fault is that? You keep messin' with Troy Johnson, - what do you think is gonna happen? - You saw him, he's crazy.
- Yeah exactly.
- Yeah, and so I need to prove it.
Vanessa was married four years ago.
What if she was having an affair with Troy? She might not talk to us, but her ex-husband might.
You really can't help yourself, can you? You're your own worst enemy.
I thought you wanted to help me.
I'm a black man in America, Callie, with a juvenile record.
And I don't have a rich daddy to buy me the best lawyers.
If I make trouble and get arrested, I'm goin' down.
Just like Ty.
That's it.
I'd do anything for you, but I'm not gonna follow you down a rabbit hole.
(knocking on door) What, uh what's goin' on, Ma? I can't do it.
I I I can't get married.
Okay, well, it's a it's a little late for cold feet, Ma, - don't ya think? - I've tried, I have really tried.
I've tried so hard.
But the heart just doesn't want what the heart doesn't want.
(knocking on door) Hey.
Everything okay in here? - Not really.
- (thunder rumbling) Hey, can you guys play a song or something, like, - entertain the crowd? - What What's the holdup? Just please do it.
Well, we we only know one song together.
So "For Once in My Life" on repeat or we improv? Uh, actually, I've got an idea.
Why don't you do your, uh, stand-up routine? - Here? - Yeah.
There's an open mic, over there.
- Um - Do it.
Uh Are you sure, Ma? I mean, just last night, you said how could I not marry this man, - didn't you? - This doesn't have anything to do with Will.
He's not the reason I don't wanna get married.
- It's your father.
- Dad? No offense, but I loved your father.
- Why would I take offense to that, Ma? - Let me finish.
I loved your father until I married him.
And then moment by moment, hour by hour, day by day, - week by week, year by year, - I get it I started to hate his guts.
All I could think about was ways to kill him.
Stabbing him in his sleep.
Pushing him off a cliff.
- Castrating him - Now I'm startin' to get a little offended.
- (knocking on door) - Who is it? - Oh - It's Will.
Tell him I'm not here.
Will: Everything okay? Ma, you just asked "Who is it?" - Pretty sure he knows you're here.
- I'll deny it.
(sighs) Hey.
I think that if you don't wanna marry him you at least owe it to him to go out there and tell him.
Will: Honey, everything okay? Hi.
I'm Grace.
I don't know the bride, or groom, or anyone, really, - except for Brandon.
Hi.
- Woo! Anyway, does anybody know why they call it Twitter? It's kind of a misnomer, right? Birds don't type.
(laughs) So Jesus didn't read my letter.
- What? What? - He definitely didn't read it.
How do you know? Because he can't read.
I'm not kidding.
But, seriously, I cannot do social media anymore, now that my nana's on it.
She is the insta-grandma.
(thunder rumbling) And mercifully, that's my cue that God's had enough.
- I am not kidding.
- I'll explain later.
Thank you so much, and don't worry, I won't be here all week.
Brandon: Yeah! - (laughs) - I told you I wasn't funny.
And you weren't kidding, but, uh, that took some serious guts.
(laughs) What was that? My one scary thing for tomorrow.
I just don't ever wanna hate you.
(laughs) Sharon, there's tons of married people that don't hate each other.
I know, but but what we have is so good.
Why would we wanna risk ruining it by making promises we maybe can't even keep? Well I mean, I actually was gonna address that in my vows.
You wrote vows for me? Course.
What do you think, I'm gonna disrespect a woman as unique and special as you with with some, what, old-fashioned cookie-cutter script? Look, to me, marriage isn't a contract, and and promises aren't always broken.
Especially when they're easy to keep.
Like loving you, every day, and never taking you for granted.
And promising that if, for some reason, you fall out of love with me, or if I fall out of love with you, I'll never forget you're my best friend.
Mm.
Should I be worried? That you don't wanna remarry me? Honey It's not that I don't wanna remarry you, come on.
It's just our wedding was so beautiful.
It was the happiest day of my life.
Anything we do now would just pale in comparison.
Look, we don't have to try and recreate that day, love.
Look, I I know that I was the one that didn't think that a piece of paper was necessary last time, but I love being married.
I like our marriage being recognized by the federal government.
I know we don't need anybody's permission to love one another, but you know what, it feels good to have the same rights as every straight couple.
To be included.
To be protected under the law.
God knows that right might be taken away from us, but, man, as long as we have it, I want it.
You know, I wanna be equal.
I want our love and our family to be out and be proud, and if they try to take marriage away from us, then you're damn right I'm gonna fight to keep it, because, you know, us getting married again, that that piece of paper, that's about more than just us, babe.
I know that we have had some rough times since we got married.
But, you know, all these politics aside, if I were to ask you today for the first time would you marry me? For once in my life I have someone who needs me Someone I've needed so long For once, unafraid, I can go where life leads me Somehow I know I'll be strong For once I can say this is mine you can't take it Grandma What's going on? Look! For once in my life I have someone who needs me Someone who needs me Someone who needs me (laughing) Well, this is a bit of a surprise.
We come together today in front of your family and friends.
- Well - (laughing) mostly Sharon and Will's friends.
- You sure you're okay with this? - You're not goin' anywhere, are you? No.
I'm not going anywhere.
Yeah, I'm okay.
As these two fell in love on the open road explorin' the country by RV Yeah, no, that doesn't really apply.
(laughs) Meeting new friends in every corner of the good ol' USA.
No.
Uh, ooh Making love under the stars on a cool desert night.
We have kids here, that was, that's Yeah.
- (laughing) - (stammers) I think I'm gonna just get a little, uh, less specific.
They say on the road, there are three types of folks: hitchhikers, day trippers, and those who are in it for the long haul.
- (thunder rumbling) - I think if you have any vows, you might wanna spit 'em out now.
- Uh - Okay, I I didn't really prepare anything, but, um of course I would marry you again today.
I am marrying you today.
No matter how hard life gets, or what challenges we face my love for you has only gotten stronger over this past year.
And I know that no matter what happens it always will.
Okay, I think I'm gonna say "ditto" to what she said, if that's okay with everybody, 'cause we gotta That's great.
Great.
Uh, yeah, okay, so uh By the power vested in me by the State of California, and a bunch of other legal blah-blah-blah, - you are now united in matrimony.
- Can we ? - Hurry up and kiss.
- That's the point I wanted anyway.
(thunder rumbling) - No.
- Ooh! What's happening? Where are you going? (thunder rumbling) If I had made you up You couldn't have been any better - Okay, should we? Yeah.
- Yeah.
Every detail down to the letter They say it's the way it's supposed to be But really, really It's like I saw your face Before I even met you Now there's no way that I'd ever let you Step out of the frame Step out of the frame (theme music playing)
