- Like this? - That could be good.
You said he smoked himself, right? Yeah.
Uh He swiped a water pump from his granddad's shed.
What's bothering you? When I opened the phone, there was only one text exchange on the whole thing.
- Yeah, and? - You know any 18-year-olds with only one text exchange on their phone? I don't go through many 18-year-old's phones, but I'll play along.

Strange that someone so close to him and we never met.

And thank you for taking care of the family and Lynn.
It's been so difficult.
Sure.
Rob, maybe Michelle could help you with the fundraiser you were talking about? - Fundraiser? - Uh, yeah.
I was thinking of putting something together for Coco, for, like, mental health or something.
If you wanted to help put it together I would be honored.
Okay, great.
We came here that day.
Me, him, Syd, and Paige.
It was good, really good.
He laughed.
About what? I don't remember.
I wasn't sure if you wanted this back, but, uh I took it from his truck.
It was hanging on the On the rearview mirror.
I didn't want the cops to fucking pocket it First Communion cross and all.
You think it was us? What do you mean? Was it our fault? I don't want to talk about it, Co.
- I just meant - They told us to get him a shrink, we get him a shrink.
The shrink says, "Get him some pills," we get him some pills.
What are we supposed to do? Chain him to the fucking radiator? Hey, let me walk you to your car.
Fuck off.
Hey, are you packed? They spread his ashes without me.
Sweetie, it was probably just family.
They weren't thinking about you.
What? Weren't thinking about me? Michelle, I think you just need to take a breath.
She left me out.
I was the only one that mattered to him, the only one who cared about him.
How can she do this? Michelle.
Hi.
- Hey.
- Hi.
So funny seeing you guys here.
Oh, um Here, sit.
So, anyway, like I was saying Hey, didn't your boyfriend just off himself? - Chris.
- Dude.
I'm I'm so sorry about him.
He's acting like an asshole tonight.
It's okay.
It's life, right? Not really.
- Ow, what the fuck? - Stop.
What the fuck? I'm just trying to be grateful for the time we had together.
Conrad gave me a forever within the numbered days, and I'm grateful.
Wow.
That's deep.
Just the truth.
BRAD You should be a writer.
- Maybe.
- Right.
'Cause you're up on your books and shit.
- Books and shit? - Never seen you read a book a day in your life.
Why do you have to jump on my dick? I got low blood sugar, and I'm hungry, so maybe that's why Hey.
If I did, like, a fundraiser, would you guys come? Oh, fundraiser for what? For Conrad.
For, like, mental health.
To raise awareness.
We could do it here in town.
Don't you think you should do it in his town? Where's he from? - Mattapo Mattapoisett? - Mattapois-ey.
- Where the hell is that? - I've never heard of that.
By the water.
We could play, like, a softball game or something.
Oh, like those celebrity games they do for charity? Yes.
Yeah.
Exactly.
Would you guys help me plan something? Sure.
Yeah, whatever you need.
We could do it at the high school.
Ooh, we can get, like, matching shirts.
We should put it on Facebook.
Maybe it'll go viral.
Facebook? You don't go viral on Facebook.
You go viral on YouTube.
Hey, Rob.
How you holding up? You guys were best friends, right? Yeah.
Hey, look, um, listen, I need you to do me a favor.
Pretend like I don't know anything, Okay.
So when was the last time you talked? That day, Saturday.
He, uh he was supposed to come see me at Fitchburg.
Canceled at the last minute.
Give a reason? Did he ever talk about issues with, uh, work? With girls? No.
But, I mean, clearly he he had issues.
I mean, he tried before.
- He attempted suicide? - No one told you that? Yeah.
Couple years back.
How, uh how'd he try? He took a bunch of Tylenol.
He was in the hospital for a bit.
Did he tell you why? Not really.
I mean, his parents' divorce really screwed him up.
You know, Mr.
and Mrs.
Roy constantly yelling, not just at each other.
- At Coco? - Sometimes.
You know how it is.
Michelle Carter.
Know her? Not really.
They were dating? They only met up, like, once or twice.
She lived an hour away.
Plainville, I think.
Do you know when they last saw each other? No.
Why? Well, she was all over his social media.
Thumbs up this, thumbs up that.
You know, even posting after he passed.
People will say anything to get a like.
What do you girls want to do when you get there? We could go fishing.
- Michelle? - What do you think about that? Go fishing with your dad.
Michelle? Can you turn that up? I can't believe you like the song.
- Dad, turn it off.
- Shut up.
You don't even know what you're talking about.
Don't talk to your sister that way, Michelle.
Just keep the song on, okay? You know, Conrad would have loved this.
I always wanted him to come on this trip with us.
He loved the water.
Is that right? He worked on the water, he and his dad tugboats.
I wish we could have met him.
It seems you guys were close.
We were close.
Yeah, that's what I said.
No, you said "seems.
" I'm just trying to understand.
You never talked about him.
So? Sweetie, we never even heard his name.
You okay? No.
I'm sorry about before.
About the song.
It just reminded me of him.
I didn't know you guys were in love.
He was the greatest guy I've ever met.
He told me everything.
And I could tell him everything.
You know, when people talk about star-crossed lovers and things like that? Well, that's what it was.
The moment we met, it was just magic, like I'd known him my whole life.
Wow.
We've been talking, and your father and I think you should see the doctor again.
- Why? - It's just It feels a little too similar to last time.
That's not true.
The sulking, the yelling.
I'm grieving, Mom.
Remember how much better you felt after? It could help.
He could prescribe you some new meds.
I'm taking the pills.
What else do you want me to do? You could talk to me.
You could talk to your dad.
You wouldn't get it.
Is that it? Oh, goal! Nice shot.
Sorry to bust up the game.
Figured you'd want these ASAP.
That's the extraction? Two of eight.
Jesus Christ.
This is just him and the girl? Ask and you shall receive.
Got some cinema in there, too, tablet on top.
I'll grab the rest.
- Thanks.
- Yeah.
Dad.
Hi, this is Conrad Henry Roy III, reporting to you about what's been going through my mind the past few weeks.
I can't fathom that I was such a happy kid when I was younger.
I know, I know, I know.
A lot of people tell me.
A lot of people tell me that I have a lot going for me.
I have to be happy.
I have to be happy.
Well, no, you don't have to be happy.
I think I just need to relax.
I really do, 'cause I just keep thinking about the past.
This kid having trouble talking at the lunch table, having trouble communicating, having trouble Struggling.
Social anxiety to me is the inability to function properly in a manner that you want to in a social situation.
Not all eyes are on you at all times.
People understand that's just who you are.
You don't have to be this amazing drawn-out, thought-out superhero Incredible Hulk or Superman.
I don't know.
But if I keep talking, if I just keep talking, then it's gonna get better.
Racing thoughts, suicidal thoughts.
What I'm doing is looking at myself so negatively.
Never be successful.
Never have a wife.
Never have kids.
Comes to a point where I'm just Too nice.
I loved him, and he loved me, and He loved all of you guys.
I know he did.
I like to sing in the car, and, um Before Finn, I used to sing alone.
And this was the, uh, first song that we would sing together when we would drive around together.
Song that I Sang with him when we would drive around together, so - Nobody treat me with - Kid gloves, okay? I don't know what to say either.
I loved Finn, and and he loved me.
He loved all of you guys.
I know he did.
I like to sing in the car, and, um Before Finn, I used to sing alone.
This was the first song that I sang with him when we would drive around together.
So this is for him.
When the rain is blowing In your face And the whole world is on your case I could offer you a warm embrace To make you feel my love When the evening shadows and the stars appeared And there's no one there to dry your tears I could hold you for a million years To make you feel my love Oh, the storms are raging on the rolling sea And on the highway of regret The winds of change are blowing wild and free You ain't seen nothing like me I can make you happy, make your dreams come true Nothing that I wouldn't do Go to the end of the earth for you To make you feel my love
