The Great Escape (2012) s01e07 Episode Script

Escape from the Power Station

1 [ Electricity crackling .]
Eisen: Our contestants are about to attempt to escape the Western region power station, An electrifying experience for three new teams as they must navigate their way out of a 63-megawatt power plant.
Where there's a will, there's a way out.
Welcome to "The Great Escape.
" My name is Crescent.
And I live in Los Angeles, California.
Natalie and I have been friends for a long time.
If we win the prize money, I really want to take my parents to Africa.
I have a 2-year-old, and he just turned 2.
And I would love to play with him by the pool.
Lee: My name is Lee.
I live in San Diego, and I'm 24 years old.
Matt: My name is Matt.
Lee is my brother.
I own a dental-whitening company, so we'd probably put a lot of that money back into that.
I'm 99% confident that we're gonna win.
I don't see how anybody can beat us.
I'm Jessica, and this is my husband, Gregg.
We've been married for 15 years.
We know everything about each other.
We work really well together.
Gregg: If we win the great escape, we'll put the money straight into the college fund.
Every waking moment of our lives are truly for this family you know, the two of us and our two children.
They're our world.
Eisen: One team is about to achieve an almost impossible task escape this immense power plant.
Guards, remove their blindfolds.
Welcome to the Western region power station.
Gregg: When I first looked around and I saw that it was a power plant, and there was heights everywhere, I started to get a little nervous.
I don't like heights at all.
You're in the middle of You will start in the detainment zone, locked inside a cooling tower above a giant turbine, where you will have to free yourselves and locate your escape-route map.
This map will guide you through all four stages on the way to making your great escape.
After completing the four stages, your final hurdle is the transport zone.
At each stage, you'll have to overcome a challenge.
Once you have completed a challenge, you will find tools that will aid you in making your escape and also find a piece of the great escape key.
There are four pieces, one hidden within each stage.
After completing all four stages in order, the first team to travel from the transport zone to me with the great escape key will unlock the box and instantly become $100,000 richer.
Oh! Whoo! Crescent: I'll admit to being a little nervous, but my competitive side's like, "this is it.
We're winning.
" At various points during your escape, you may encounter patrolling guards.
The guards will be patrolling on three designated routes on timed rotations, so if you're smart, you'll plan your escape timing accordingly.
If you are caught, you must drop everything but your map, and you'll be escorted back to the detainment zone where you'll be restrained once again.
Guards, lock them up.
Gregg: I'm not really sure what we've gotten ourselves into.
And I don't even want to think about it because I'll just start getting nervous.
Lee: I don't think we'll buckle under the pressure at all.
Natalie: You can't psych yourself out.
As long as we're focused and we're driven, we will be victorious.
Oh, my God.
Aah! Eisen: The teams are now being lifted up 50 feet above the ground to their detainment zones inside cooling tanks.
Crescent: I feel him tightening up our handcuffs.
Honestly, I was like, "how will we get out of these?" When the work site hazards alarm sounds, the escape is on.
When we had our blindfold on in detainment, I knew that we would have to climb something handcuffed or find a key.
There was a lot of anxiety at that point.
[ Buzzer sounds .]
Ow! Oh, sorry.
Relax.
Hold on.
Right here.
Is this the key? What the [Bleep.]
is this? Okay, let's try it.
It's right there.
Oh.
Freeze, freeze, freeze.
Okay, okay.
We're already halfway there.
Come on.
Let's go.
You made it tighter.
Okay, okay.
I'm out.
I'm out.
I'm out.
You're out? Let's go.
Okay.
Hold on.
I get the backpack.
Let's take this with us, too.
You can't get your hand out? I don't think so.
Yes, you can.
Ohh! Dude, you can't squeeze your let go.
All right.
Just do it.
Come on.
What are you doing? Lee: We got the handcuffs off, and we see this green bag, and I see a flashlight in there.
We immediately started looking for the map.
Look in the bag for the map, Gregg.
You look somewhere else.
I'll look in the bag.
All right, let's see.
Come on.
[Bleep.]
Okay, we need the map.
Hey, Jess.
It could be up on a turbine, too.
Jessica: I feel like we got out of the handcuffs so quickly, so we were excited we thought we off to a good start and so we were ready to find the map.
Unfortunately, that was where we hit a wall.
Okay, I'm gonna jump up here and look really quick, Gregg.
Lee: Hey, we need to find that map.
Look all around down there.
I'll look up here.
Lee: We're looking for the map.
We're tearing that place all to hell.
We look up.
We look down.
Where the hell can this thing be? Where could it be? Where could it be? Oh, my God.
This is definitely harder than it looks.
Where the [Bleep.]
is this thing? Think it might be under one of these yellow things, Lee.
Up here there's tape.
This tape is one hell of a this is a hazard.
Here it is.
I got it.
You got it?! Yeah, baby! Lo and behold, there's the map.
"Exit down five flights of stairs.
Bring the map and flashlight to stage 1.
" I don't see anything up here at all.
Is the map in here? Do you see it? No.
Look between all these things.
Look between the wood.
I'll look down here.
I have no idea.
I'm, like, baffled.
Lee: I knew that those bars had to be I mean, there had to be something.
What do you see? Oh, there you go.
Good work.
Look underneath the beam.
Look underneath, too.
Good work.
Good work.
All right.
By that point, we were seriously moving.
Blue team has escaped detainment zone.
We are getting our asses kicked right now, for sure.
Honey, how can we not [Bleep.]
find this thing? Oh, my God, we're not even gonna make it out of detainment.
How can we not find it? This is so frustrating! Gregg: Aah! [ Sighs .]
Blue team has escaped detainment zone.
Oh, my God, we're not even gonna make it out of detainment.
This is so frustrating! Eisen: While the green and red teams struggle to find their maps in the detainment zone, the blue team is already on their way to stage 1.
I was halfway down the stairs before I noticed the first guard.
Guard.
Guard.
It was pretty scary.
I immediately hit the deck.
We watched the route he was taking, and as soon as we figured it out, we took off for stage 1.
Natalie: Check these holes.
Oh, there's nothing in there.
How about this yellow thing? It's got to be a clue, don't you think, babe? Gregg: That's what I tried those.
If you think so.
Is it coming off, the tape? It's here.
Here.
[Bleep.]
When I found the map, I was so excited to see it, but I had thought that we were so far behind already.
It just felt devastating.
Okay, so, we got to get out of here.
We came in through here, Jess.
Natalie, I don't want to be behind, Natalie.
Do you see anything? Hey, keep alert for the guard.
Where could it be? Where could it be? It has to be in here somewhere.
Yeah, we just have to find it.
Matt: The map said that you go up seven flights of stairs.
Is this one flight of stairs just one, or does it count two till you get to the next level? Who knows what that is? Does that count as far as this [Bleep.]
I don't think there'll be guards up here.
Hold on, Jess.
There's clearly a way to get this [ electricity crackles .]
We're going to the furnace ducts? Push rods.
Just push them.
"Use rope to slide down roof.
" I don't think that's That will fall once you get it.
Master escapists.
Green team has escaped detainment zone.
[ Laughs .]
It's like "mission: Impossible.
" Lee: When we saw the ropes to go down the roof, I thought it was gonna be pretty gangster, so I was pretty excited.
Matt: Neither Lee or I are professional climbers, but we've seen TV.
You know, we've done it before, like at church camp.
Hey, Jess, Jess! Get up here.
Jess: Do you see someone? Okay, we got to crawl in here.
All right, let's go.
Hey, check the map.
Check the map.
Let's hide then.
There's the crawl space there's the crawl space right there.
Crawl space to turbine room.
We come down the ladder, and all we see is kind of a crawl space, so that's essentially the only route we had to get out.
"Take cables, stage 2, turbine room.
" There's turbine.
Eisen: Having escaped detainment, the blue team has actually skipped stage 1, the furnace ducts, and incorrectly think they must now get to the turbine room.
The green team has hidden from guards at the top of the cooling tanks, while the red team searches in vain for their map, which is right in front of their faces.
We're still in detainment.
This is insane.
[ Sighs .]
We could not find the map.
We looked in every crevice.
We have no idea.
[ Scoffs .]
I don't know.
I don't know.
Still looking at propellers.
What we have not touched? Anything? No, I'm not seeing anything.
There's yellow-and-black signage on every other propeller it looks like.
And I remember, like, pushing the propeller toward me and turning it, and I was touching every single one.
I was like, "I don't feel anything underneath these.
" You know, we can't give up.
No, of course not.
Gregg: Jess, he's right there.
Jessica: Okay, okay.
He's turning the corner.
As soon as he goes, we go.
"Use cable bundles in safe box.
" That's inside there.
Is this a puzzle? [ Laughs .]
Matt: We're crawling through there.
We get up, and there's a building, and we know, in there, we need to get the cables.
He's coming.
Let's go.
Come here.
Then, climb seven.
Climb seven flights of stairs.
Right here, this catwalk up here.
[ Indistinct conversation .]
Green team, stop! [ Both sigh .]
You got to be kidding me.
[ Groans .]
You're going back to detainment.
Anything else in your pocket? Ohh! No.
Okay.
That's all.
Oh, my God.
Seriously? You are kidding me! The green team has been captured.
Jessica: When we got detained was so devastating 'cause we knew we were already so far behind, and then we'd have to go back and go through this all again.
I almost cried.
Natalie: Check under these yellow things.
Up here.
Oh, my God, they do come off.
Got it.
It's right here.
Come on.
We were in there forever.
Damn, what the [Bleep.]
oh, my God.
Where's the [Bleep.]
cable? Here's where they come, right here.
Okay, so they use that as a plug.
Gregg: Go and do those.
Start doing those.
I'll untie these.
All right.
Green team has escaped detainment zone.
Hey, hey.
Maybe power cords are out here.
Run straight across to behind that door.
Straight across.
Sure.
Are you okay? Grab the bag.
Come on! Matt, come on.
They're not in that thing, dude.
Let's keep looking.
All right, come on.
No, no.
We have to go around this way.
No, we got to stop.
Jess, stay over here.
Watch out.
Oh, does this one go the opposite way? Go.
Jess: Think we're going the right way? Yeah, we are.
Just watch.
You got the map.
Look behind there.
Move all this [Bleep.]
out of here.
That's what I tried to do a while ago, you [Bleep.]
Right here's another catwalk.
Gregg: Go.
Go.
"Use rope to slide down roof.
" Gregg: We had read the map.
We knew it was seven stories.
So that was kind of my initial thing was that we were gonna rappel.
I started to get a little nervous.
"Use rope to slide down roof.
" Oh, it should be up here at the ladders.
I don't want to go back.
No, we're not going back.
We got to keep our eyes peeled for the guards.
Matt: What are you thinking, here? I'm thinking that maybe they're in these things, since the last one didn't open, but it looks like I'm about to break it.
You got it, sweetheart.
You got it, Gregg.
No problem.
Not even thinking about the heights.
And I was like, "I'm doing it.
I don't care.
Let's go.
We're in it now.
" Okay, here we go.
Crescent: Okay, go.
Red team has escaped detainment zone.
You got it.
No problem.
Nice.
Perfect.
Now click out and click over here with me.
Hold on.
Gregg: I was pretty good climbing on the roof as far the heights.
You couldn't see over the edge.
Because if I could have seen over the edge, I would have definitely had some trouble with that.
We go to catch up.
Look for a guard.
Cables, cables.
The cables are nowhere to be found.
Hey, holy [Bleep.]
we didn't get the other pieces.
So we realized we must have left them back there.
What? Oh My God.
We got to go back.
Lee: Cables, cables.
Hey, holy [Bleep.]
we didn't get the other pieces.
What? Oh My God.
We realized that the cables aren't in that area, so we have to double back because we don't have the game piece, we don't have the cables.
Part 1 is up there.
And we didn't even get the damn piece.
[Bleep.]
This way.
Come on.
Ugh.
Eisen: As the blue team retreats to stage 1 to acquire their first key and cable bundle, the red team has finally just exited detainment, and the green team is on its way to stage 1 the furnace ducts.
I think it's gonna be down.
It's got to be down here.
We're looking for a piece.
[Bleep.]
I don't know what this is, but this must be something.
This is stage 1 the furnace ducts.
To access one of the three furnace ducts, they'll have to locate a tool to remove the two heavy pins that keep these doors shut.
Then, they'll have to enter the filthy furnace, and, using a flashlight they found earlier, locate a pile of electric power cables and the first piece of the great escape key.
Ugh.
Jessica: We arrive at stage 1, and we're at the furnace, and we see blue team.
We were thrilled because we knew we were still in it.
I'm gonna climb in first, and I'll grab the cable bundles.
All right, I'll go in, Gregg.
Go in.
I'm in.
I'm in.
Come on, if anything, you need help.
Dude, get in.
[ Grunts .]
All right, what are we looking for? These are the cables? Here they are, Gregg.
Here they are.
They're right here.
They're right here.
I got it, I got it, I got it, I got it, I got it.
It's right here.
I got the key.
I got the key right here.
Gregg: Make sure it's the key.
Lee: Here we go.
Here we go, Matt.
Matt.
Matt.
Good work.
Now, where's that piece? Right here, baby.
Lee, don't we need that piece? Yep, right here.
I got it.
Let's go.
Hurry up.
Jump out.
Ow.
Oh, God.
Jess: Here, hand them to me.
Gregg: Undo them.
Blue team has completed stage 1.
[ Grunts .]
Green team has completed stage 1.
Crescent: And in my head, I was like, "we always have to be looking for the guards.
" Natalie: Yeah.
"We always have to be looking for the guards.
" Teams need to remember that guards are patrolling the power plant grounds in timed rotations.
Smart contestants can avoid them by timing their moves.
So, we get down below, and I was just like, "shh!" Here we go.
Jessica: We're looking for the power box and the safe box.
Come on, Gregg.
Come on.
Gregg: I think it's up here.
In stage 2, teams will reach this turbine room, where they could be in for quite a shock.
They'll have to open one of three electronic safe boxes, but to do that, they'll need electricity.
[ Electricity crackles .]
Using nine cables of varying lengths, they'll have to assemble three equally measured lines that run from that power box to this safe box that requires the electronic current to open.
Once opened, they'll have to memorize the hazardous diamond chart and take the goggles, sledgehammer, and second piece of the great escape key.
They're gonna have to connect.
Okay.
Natalie: I saw the sign for furnace ducts, and so I definitely knew we were on the right path.
We definitely had time that we needed to make up, so we really had no room for error, at all.
Coming around that corner and seeing the rope, I was like, "oh, my gosh.
" But at this point, I really didn't have time to panic.
And I was like, "we just have to go, go, go, go, go.
" Oh, my God.
Are those lights on? Not yet.
Check those lights on.
I'm connected.
Come on, babe.
100 grand, let's go.
You got scissors? You know, we can do this.
It's going to right there.
What are you doing, nimrod? These are all female.
Yours are all male, Jess.
Got it.
Let's just measure.
Measure first.
Okay, try it.
Could you see the plugs? [ Clank .]
Nope.
I mean, it's got to be up to [Bleep.]
It's this guy.
Plug it in and turn.
There we go.
This is gonna be right one, Jess pretty close to right.
Lee: Are you doing this here? Yeah, I'm hooking it up.
Matt was having trouble fitting the things on there.
[ Groans .]
I had it.
I got it.
Which caused a little bit more friction between us.
Lee: What are you doing? You connect it to this! [Bleep.]
What in the hell are you doing? I thought it connected to that other one.
Got it.
Done.
They're all on.
Let's go.
It says, "open safe box and memorize" Open safe box.
Look out, man.
This is the safe box.
Come here.
Hurry up.
Jess: I can't get well, come around.
It's very easy.
Ready? Make a word.
Yeah, yeah.
Wait.
Hold on.
Hold on.
Here's the key.
I got the key and this sledgehammer.
I feel like MacGyver.
Green team has completed stage 2.
"Move to the cinder block.
" [ Grunts .]
Dude, just keep twisting it.
Are you kidding me? There you go.
Got it.
Get it.
Get it.
To open the damn thing! Get what? God bless America! Blue team has completed stage 2.
They left? [Bleep.]
Yeah.
Matt: We're totally baffled by how they put these together so quick.
You know, neck and neck, so now we realized we've got to double up and pay more attention to that map.
[Bleep.]
How should we go? Cinder block powerhouse.
Look at the map! It's on the map.
Help me.
Open.
Open.
Babe, we got to get back to where we were.
Where the hell did these guys go? They got out, so we have to leave.
We just have to leave.
Lee: Come back here.
Come back here.
Wait, there's a guard, Gregg.
What powerhouse are we going to? We need to get to cinder block powerhouse.
"C" block? "C" block.
That's gonna be "c" block.
Okay.
Look on the map.
This is [Bleep.]
I told you, go this way.
Quit bitching.
Hey, keep your cool, kemosabe.
Oh, guard, guard, guard, guard, guard, guard, guard, guard! Gregg: [Bleep.]
Lee: We're watching the guard's path, trying to figure out his tendencies, and then the green team shows up again, back on our heels.
Boo! We knew blue team was somewhat close, and we turned a corner.
And so we said, "oh, my gosh, we're still in this.
" Stop! Green team! Aah! Freeze right there! [Bleep.]
Come on! Ugh! The green team has been captured.
So frustrating.
[ Sighs .]
Guard: Stop! Green team! Aah! No! [Bleep.]
The green team has been captured.
Eisen: As the race to escape the power station continues, the green team has been detained for a second time.
The blue team is on their way to stage 3 while the red team has nearly completed stage 1.
"Take cable box.
" That's what we need to do.
Here, can you climb up there and get them? Get that.
Get that.
Ugh.
What is that? What is it? I don't know what it is.
Okay, this is the piece.
This is the piece.
I'm gonna put it in the bag, okay? Green team has escaped detainment zone.
Jessica: Guards, guards, guards, guards, guards.
Let's go.
We got three.
One, two, three.
Okay.
So, we got to know they have to be equal lengths, though.
Okay.
Right.
Gregg: Back over there.
[ Sighs .]
I think this one and this one.
It's this.
It's this.
All right, then help me get the cables.
Here we go.
Yeah.
As soon as he gets past there, we take off.
Ohh! He hit the ground and rolled, and I was livid.
Power box.
Safe box.
Safe we're safe.
"Collect cable bundles to create equally" We're looking for bundles? Is there something else in there? It says "cable bundles.
" We only have cables in our hands.
[Bleep.]
Crescent: We found them, but then we were like, "we might need all the cables.
" So, it's like, we have to leave and go back into the furnace room, go back in stage 1.
Oh, that hurt.
Natalie: Are you okay? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I got it.
I got it.
Red team has completed stage 1.
Here's the bridge.
[ Indistinct conversation .]
Lee: That's it right there.
"Smash through cinder-block wall" What? We're supposed to break that up? "using diamond chart as guide.
" [Bleep.]
[Bleep.]
We didn't memorize that [Bleep.]
diamond chart.
[ Chuckling .]
Oh, my God.
It don't matter.
We just got to beat the [Bleep.]
out of that wall.
I'll watch.
You start.
All right, here we go.
Come on.
Let's go.
This thing? Matt: I'm with you.
Get at it.
Get at it.
This is stage 3, the cinder block powerhouses.
Using the sledgehammer, teams are gonna have to break through one of these walls.
And trust me, these things are not easy to swing.
The trick is two of these walls are easier to demolish than the others, and teams will only know that if they can recall which hazardous diamond chart from stage 2 represents the weak walls here in stage 3.
Inside, teams will find a valve handle and the third piece of the great escape key.
Get over here! Jess! Get over here.
Jess, go under the bridge.
Go under the bridge.
That looks good.
There you go.
[ Grunts .]
It's this one.
[Bleep.]
Gregg: We arrived at stage 3, and immediately, I saw the puzzle piece that we had memorized from stage 2.
And so the first swing I took, the concrete broke right away, so I knew we were right.
[ Grunting .]
Lee: He swings it like three times and busts right through it.
He's just a regular-looking fellow.
Can you get in? Yeah.
Lee: It was so stupid that we didn't look at the diamond chart in the safe.
Gregg: There you go.
Get it.
Let's go.
Get everything.
Go here we go.
We got the key.
We got it.
You got it.
Gregg: Hurry up before the guard.
Green team has completed stage 3.
Lock it.
Crescent: I got to get it in.
I'm gonna lock it on this end.
Go.
Okay.
Now what do we do? "Open safe box.
" There's another clue.
Get the clue.
Show it.
Clue.
Look at it.
What's it say on it? 2-2-7-8.
"Memorize hazardous diamond chart.
" Okay.
Black, yellow, purple, orange.
Black and yellow, black and yellow Natalie: Black and yellow, I thought Bumblebee.
And I'm like, "okay, black and yellow, and then purple-orange.
" I'm like, "Lakers.
" That was my way of remembering.
Look for the guards.
Look for the guards.
Red team has completed stage 2.
Right here, Gregg, right here, right here.
Master valve.
Stage 4 the filtered water tanks, and our teams are about to take a plunge.
Using the valve handle from stage 3, they'll start the water flow and then turn these valves on and off, off and on, until they direct water through this tube, forcing a capsule into the tank above filled with hundreds of gallons of water.
After climbing the ladder, teams will then dive into the frigid water and retrieve the capsule.
They'll then remove a key and use it to unlock a box that's submerged at the very bottom of the tank.
Inside there, they'll find a zip-line pulley and the fourth and final piece of the great escape key.
Jessica: Now open these.
Start opening these.
Open them all.
Okay, this is a maze that we have to run water through.
Open all these.
Not that one.
Not those, Gregg.
Honey, believe me no, the other way direct water that way.
I understand, but you got to close those and open down the end.
Close those.
Okay, so, now it's here.
It's got to come from here, babe.
This cannot be closed.
Okay, then go down here.
[ Grunts .]
Matt: You got it? Good work.
All right.
Oh.
Honey, it's a path.
Let them follow the path.
Gregg: That's right.
Close that one.
Open that one.
This one we want closed.
No! Look out! "Enter the tank.
Use the key to open the lock.
" Get the key.
Enter the tank.
Come on.
Matt: "Take master valve handle.
Turn on water.
" Hey, let's think through.
We're just pressing valves.
Okay, "enter the tank.
Use key.
" What key are they talking about? There's the key.
I think it's this thing that popped out of the clear thing.
So, there should be a green buoy down there, Gregg.
Gregg: I start diving under, looking for whatever it is I'm looking for.
And I felt something, and I saw like a floating something down below.
Blue.
That's blue.
We need green.
Cinder block powerhouse.
"C" block powerhouse.
Where? "Open master valve.
" That is the master valve, man.
Well, I mean, I don't know how the hell we're gonna open that.
Oh [Bleep.]
"take master valve handle.
" From where? "Cinder block powerhouse.
" [Bleep.]
It should be in there.
[Bleep.]
Was it in there? Hey, he's coming back.
He's coming back.
Just jump in there and hang out for a little while.
Jump back.
All right, man.
Throw it over here.
Okay, watch out.
Blue team has completed stage 3.
All right, come on.
Turn that on.
Matt: After a considerable amount of time wasted without the valve, once we get it going, it goes quick.
It's good! Let's go, then! Go, go, go, go! Is there no key? I think it pushed out with the plastic oh, it's right there! Jess, you got to go get more water! [Bleep.]
Go, go, go, go! I think it pushed out with the plastic oh, it's right there! Gregg: Our key didn't come over.
Our key's stuck.
All right, I'm gonna go down.
I'll turn it.
I got it.
When I saw that the key was stuck in that pipe, I just knew that we needed more pressure.
Tell me if it's coming.
Is it coming? Got it? You got it? Did it come, Gregg? Gregg: When I climbed out, and I saw blue team right there, I really believed, "oh, my God, we can win this game.
" Eisen: The green team made a costly mistake, which allowed the blue team to catch up to them in the water tanks at stage 4.
Meanwhile, the red team is making their way to stage 3.
[Bleep.]
You see him? I see him.
Is he coming back this way? No.
He's standing there.
The map isn't as clear to me at that point, so I'm trying to figure out, okay, where do we go next? But I'm also realizing we're outside, so we're kind of sitting ducks.
Come on.
Gregg: Don't you need help? Jessica: No.
I got it.
I got it.
Okay.
Is that the pulley? I got the key right here.
Let's go.
Green team has completed stage 4.
Go, go, go! Come on, grab the blue one.
Lee: Once I get up there, I just dive in.
We didn't look at the map.
I didn't know what I was looking for.
Everything looks the same.
And I finally found the box.
Wrong one.
That's red.
Wrong one.
Get the blue one.
Lee: I dived back down.
It was disorienting.
I was a little frustrated.
I don't see it, either.
Okay, Gregg, we have to climb to the top of the tower over here.
This, right over here right over here.
This is the transport zone the gravity tower.
Here, teams will have to climb more than 10 stories before zip lining down to an area below and choosing from one of three cargo containers.
In each container is a Volvo s60 they'll need to drive to the final destination.
But before they can do that, they'll have to put together the great escape key.
Gregg: So, we just dealt with stage 4.
I'm soaking wet, and we look up, and there's a giant tower, and I'm going, "are you kidding me?" Look for a guard.
Go.
Lee: Took me about two more times going down, and eventually I find the box.
Matt: Let me see that.
[Bleep.]
There's a guard right there.
Oh, he's coming this way.
Matt: Right there.
It's over there.
It's over there.
Behind you.
Right there that orange thing.
Is this the key? Come on.
Come on.
Blue team has completed stage 4.
Gregg: I'm climbing up the ladder that's clearly protecting you from falling backwards.
When we got to the top, you're really out in the open, and I started to realize how high and how straight down it was.
Where's the cinder blocks? I'm gonna freaking puke.
It said this way.
Jessica: Gregg, where's the map? You have the map.
Did you put it in the bag? You had it, Jess.
Check your pocket.
I don't have the map.
[Bleep.]
When I lost the map, I was freaking out 'cause I knew we needed it to win the game, and I didn't know where I lost it.
Well, we have to climb in there and get the keys to the car, anyway.
I already know what we have to do.
Go then.
Final one! Go! Here I go.
Oh, geez.
[ Screams .]
Oh, my God! Aah! Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go.
Matt: While we're consulting our map, we actually hear green team making noise like they're excited for something, so the pressure's really on.
"Climb to the top of the tower.
Attach pulley to you have the pulley? Huh? It's right here.
"C" block powerhouse.
Where? What way? Guard, guard! [Bleep.]
Red team, stop! The red team has been captured.
Natalie: I was devastated because I thought we had made up so much ground.
I was just like, "it can't end like this.
" Gregg: I was pissed.
Here I was about to address my worst fear and jump off this tower, and we don't have a map.
[ Sighs .]
Please, God.
Top of the tower.
I thought of my two kids, Nick and Bella.
Bella and Nick, this is for you.
Aah! Whoo! Whoo! Whoo-hoo! Jessica: Yeah! Bella and Nicholas, this is for you, babies! I hate heights more than anything.
Yeah! Oh, God, I hate that.
Red team has escaped detainment zone.
Right there.
There's a guard right there.
Jess, how did you lose the map, babe? You lost it.
Jessica: I knew that if I couldn't find the map, there was no shot at winning the game.
Come on, babe.
Do you see it? When I was running back to the base of the tower to look for the map, I was just saying, "please, please, let it be there.
" Right here.
Got it.
Let's go.
Oh, my God.
I don't feel good.
No.
Are you you feel dizzy? Yeah.
I was dehydrated, exhausted, and the heat was just ridiculous.
I think I'm gonna throw up.
I was on my last leg at that point.
Are you okay getting down there? 'Cause if not no, no.
I feel I probably need to sit down a little bit.
I didn't want us to continue if she was gonna be sick, but I was like, if she still has it in her to keep going, then we just need to keep going.
Yeah, I can manage.
Okay.
That's all right.
We'll just keep moving forward, okay? I had read ahead, so I knew we were looking for the Volvo in a shipping container.
Yes.
Get in.
Volvo.
Let's go! All right, now we're looking for the transformer.
Okay.
[ Engine revs .]
"Drive to rich, which is the transformer 20885.
" It'll be in the far corner.
He thought that this was our shot.
We were so focused on the map that there was just a little building on the map that was identified.
And for some reason, I had it in my brain that that's where we had to get to.
Matt: The structure it was quite high up.
But to be honest, we had no time to be scared.
Every second was critical.
Whoa! Are you kidding me? How can they come down already? Damn it.
[Bleep.]
Let's just keep going.
Look for the guards.
Look for the guards.
Matt: Let's go, Lee! [ Exhales deeply .]
Whoo-hoo! Whoa, Lee! [Bleep.]
Lee: Once we get down, we see these three containers.
Go, go, go! Go, go! Crescent: We have to be careful.
This is clearly a danger zone.
Guards are patrolling this area heavily.
I was like, "we just need to take our time and figure out how to get to the next stage.
" Matt: Lee hops in the driver's seat, which I wasn't really that excited about it 'cause he's a horrible driver.
[ Laughs .]
There's no time to switch drivers.
Go, go.
Where do I go? Left.
Left.
Jessica: 20885 is the transformer number that we're looking for, so this is where the map let's look at the map for one second.
Gregg: I'm beelining it around this dirt track trying to get around Driving like a maniac.
To this transformer.
And I can't really get there because none of the roads get there, and I was getting really frustrated.
Honey, it's over here to the left.
Let's go.
One of those numbered buildings.
Come on.
No, go back that way.
This is where we were.
This is where we were.
Damn it.
Jess, I need your [Bleep.]
help.
[ Groans .]
This is where we were.
Jessica: Damn it.
[Bleep.]
[ Groans .]
Come on.
Black, yellow, purple, orange.
Eisen: As the red team finally enters stage 3, the blue and green teams race through a labyrinth of dirt roads, trying to find their way to $100,000.
We really got to figure this map out, Gregg.
All right, hon.
We're all the way back over the bridge.
Jessica: We thought that we had to get to the transport zone, and we were done.
That was not even close to the case.
There's the bridge.
This is what we're looking for? Yes.
Is that what you're telling me? Okay, it's all the way at the back left.
That's what I was trying to tell you.
If we lose this thing because of that Slow down.
Follow the most obvious route.
Matt: At this point, we don't know what we're doing.
We're in a car.
That's a great.
But which way does the road go? There we go.
What's that? That's where we just came from.
Loop around.
Natalie: This one.
This one.
That one's clearly been knocked through.
Sorry.
"Locate Volvo in shipping, and drive to rich, which is the transformer.
" Go straight.
Now, we want to get right somehow.
Lee: Should we go underneath this thing? Maybe.
Matt, look at the map.
I'm looking at the map.
Gregg: You said the transformer.
"Locate 's' inside shipping container and drive to rich.
" The transport zone.
Where's that key? Transformer 92278.
Matt: We decided to look at the game piece, so we looked at the clue, and see transformer.
We know we're close.
Oh, oh, oh, oh! That's it.
Get this thing together.
Put the pieces together.
Oh, my [Bleep.]
[Bleep.]
Oh, my gosh.
We have to put the key together to figure out where we're going.
We wasted a lot of time trying to find the transformer without the key.
Oh, my God.
Put them together.
Here.
Here.
I'm opening them up.
[ Grunts .]
Good job.
Where were we? We were right there.
Okay, when we pulled out, we were right there.
Yes.
And the transformer should have been right there on the right.
Jessica: Transformer 92278.
Way, way back by the beginning.
I know where it is.
Go.
You know where it is, Jess? Yep.
Yknow, or are you just guessing? No, I know.
Go around.
You better know.
Matt: That's 2231, that building.
That's this building.
[ Grunting .]
Lee: 20885.
Transformer 92278.
Transformer 9 is there a transformer 9? This one this is the one we're going to, Matt.
Lee: It turns out it was the wrong transformer.
Damn.
[Bleep.]
So the heat's really on.
And in the back of our head is, "where the hell is the other team?" Go, go.
92278.
Okay, right here.
Right there, right there! Right there! Yes! [ Screams .]
Whoo-hoo-hoo! Ahh! [ Laughs .]
Hurry up.
Oh, my God.
Whoo! Jessica, Gregg, you have fought, fled, and found your way to freedom.
Oh, my God.
You were contained, detained, and tested.
Let me check your work.
You have won $100,000 and "the great escape.
" [ Cheers .]
[ Groans .]
Lee: We finally pull up, and we see green team standing with rich, which I almost put the car in reverse and just said the hell with it.
It was the most disheartening moment of my life.
Now, there were times we saw you arguing Arguing? With one another.
I guess I don't handle stress as well.
We always believed we'd beat it.
Oh! Ahh! Eisen: Matt, Lee, we're sorry to break the news to you.
You're a couple of minutes behind, but congratulations anyway on a great competition.
Green team has won.
Natalie: Hey, c'est LA vie.
Man.
Man! I was powering that sledgehammer.
Crescent: I'm proud of us.
I think we did a really, really good job.
Natalie: At the end of the day, I think we never gave up.
Our hearts and our souls out there, and we gave our all.
And that's all you can really do in life in general.
Hey.
[ Chuckles .]
I love you.
It's all right, buddy.
Get them next time.
Lee: To know that we were so far ahead We had it.
We should have won it.
We just we kept making the same mistakes, not looking at the map, and it's just we beat ourselves.
We said we were gonna be our own worst enemy, and we were.
Well, Jessica and Gregg, why don't you get in the Volvo and get on out of here? Enjoy the ride.
Whoo! Whoo! Jessica: 100 grand is a ton of money, and we're just gonna save it and put it toward our kids' education.
[ Engine turns over .]
Gregg: Such a great lesson as parents to be the ones that won the game, to be able to show our children that no matter how exhausted, no matter how tough the challenge is, you just don't quit ever.
Yeah! Oh! I can't believe it.
