Executed in 2017.
What is your professional
assessment of Richard Harris?

You want me to profile
a dead serial killer?

OK.

Richard Harris was the product
of intense physical
and emotional abuse from his mother.
She would lock him in the
basement in complete darkness
for days at a time.

revisit that trauma

as a surrogate for his own mother.

I made him into the monster
that the whole world was afraid of.
Nicole, I'm gonna need you
to step away from the counter, OK?
Because of you, I've had to
watch my true love die twice.
[teakettle clatters]
[gunshot]
[groaning]

[panting]
[water sloshing]

[screaming]
You're out of your mind!
You can't do this!
[screams] [static crackles]

[wind whistling] [door rattling]
[banging]
- Oliver!
- Where is she?
I don't know what you're talking about.
Where is she?
Oliver!
I don't know.
Odell!
[fire roaring]
[coughs]
- Wait!
- Oliver!
Wait, wait!
Please!
I'll tell you!
I have a place, a little
fishing shack down by the lake,
two miles east.
That's where the girl is.
Put it out! Put it out!
[screams]
[dramatic music]

You know, we don't get
a lot of second chances
in our line of work.
Must feel good finishing a case
you started all those years ago.
I mean, Odell missed
Nicole Westin entirely.
She was a convincing liar.
Most psychopaths usually are.
You two still talk, you and Odell?
No.
Last I heard, he was overseas.
We worked together for a long time,
but after he crossed that line,
there was no going back.
But you saved the girl.

Samantha!
[panting]

And then she became your daughter.
Yeah. She had no one.
Sam was this 13-year-old girl
all on her own,
going through that kind of hell.
And now she's this smart,
amazing young woman.
Adopting her was
the best thing I ever did.

No, I'm OK.
How about you? How's your daughter?
That was her on the phone, wasn't it?
What makes you say that?
You silenced a couple
phone calls earlier,
which means they probably
weren't work-related,
and they were right around
bedtime in D.C.
Plus you were hanging on
to that little bird
while you were on the phone,
so I'm gonna assume that was for her.
Why a daughter?
Maybe I have a son.
I'm sure you do.
I'd guess even more than one, actually.
There's something about chasing
killers like Harris,
what he did to those girls.
When you have a daughter
at home, it's different.

Her name is Wren.
She likes to collect
little birds and things.
And we have three sons.

I spent a decade chasing
terrorists and traffickers.
I know how to deal with evil.
I've been up close to it.
- But that was
- Overseas.
This is where our kids live.

Speaking of your career,
you weren't made
to be on the sidelines, Bex.
I spoke to the AG.
There are gonna be
some more inmates to find.
How many?
A lot.
You wanted back in.
This is back in.

[plane engines roaring]
Ma'am, please come with me.
Uh, what is this about?
The warden just got out of surgery.
He's asking for you.

[indistinct chatter, phones ringing]

[tense music]
Hello, Bex.

Oliver.
I hear you had quite a day.

- [door clicks shut]
- You're the warden?
You know, before I went into surgery,
I told the AG if she wanted
to find Harris,
she needed to call in the best.
Seems I was right.
How are you here?
I was recruited for the job after
what happened.
How is Sam, by the way?
Hear she's in college now.
That's great that she's doing
Stop. No, no.

You don't get to do that.
You don't get to act like this is
some normal catch-up, Oliver.
You killed that man.
No, I saved her.

She's your daughter, Bex.
I thought maybe you would have
stopped blaming me by now.
I don't blame you
for what you did to save Sam.
I know that if we had
done things my way,
if we had waited for that search party,
she would have died in that shack,
and I've had to carry that
with me every single day
for the last five years.
But you could have put out the fire.
You didn't need to kill him, Oliver.
That is not who I thought you were.

Well, I didn't bring you here
to rehash old wounds.

You're still the best agent
I've ever worked with.
[sighs]
And right now, I need
someone that I can trust,
someone who can help
catch all the inmates
who made it out alive.
All right, good to go.
- Close her up.
- Yes, sir.
I've seen the list of killers
who are unaccounted for.
There are more than they
are willing to admit,
and they will do anything to cover up
what really happened,
to keep the truth from being exposed.
The blast that collapsed
the Pit was no accident.
It was a jailbreak.
Someone wanted those killers
back out in the world.
