- Hey, you your knee all right?
- I'm perfect.
The Don't Bothers are losers.
The Ducks are winners.
I have to say on behalf
of the Don't Bothers.
We're not losers.
I wanna know why you're
with our archenemy, Trevor.
I'm surprised you noticed. You've
been so busy dancing with MJ.
Everyone likes you. Your friends
like you, your parents like you.
I like you, your teachers like you
Wait. Go back.
I said, "I like you".
Oh, and one more thing,
we're going to States.
We are live from
the famed Minnesota Igloo.
Welcome, everyone, to a very
special edition of The Wraparound.
The state finals are here
and the brackets are set.
- Look, there's our team.
- Wow!
Thirty-two hockey hopefuls
from every corner of our great state
will battle until one team is crowned
Minnesota State Champion.
- Look at it.
- Oh, my gosh. I'm so excited.
Hey, let's see the ice.
Oh. So cool!
Look at this!
Holy banoodles!
I was gonna say, "It's massive",
but I'll give you a "Holy banoodles".
Don't let it get to you, guys.
Hockey ice is hockey ice.
Eighty-five feet wide, 200 feet long.
Why does our rink feel smaller?
Oh, well Technically, it is,
by 20 feet, but just let that go.
Can you believe this?
Game face, Morrow.
We got a job to do.
It's round one, and here we go.
Here come the Don't Bothers
versus the Maroon Marauders.
Get out in front of it. That's it, good.
Go! Go! Go! Go!
Sofi Hanson-Bhatt
with a beautiful backhand.
Too good!
And the Don't Bothers win and
advance to play the Caribou.
Go! Go!
I got 'em! I got 'em!
The Don't Bothers are
playing shutdown defense.
Come on, Maya!
Koobler makes the save.
Don't Bothers win!
And, of course, the Mighty Ducks
advancing up the leaderboard.
Here we go. Keep the pressure on.
- Go! Go!
- Dig it! Dig it!
They came in as the ultimate underdogs.
But unlike the precision play of
the tournament favorite Ducks
these Don't Bothers have
a very different approach.
Yes! Woohoo!
Actually putting fun first.
Nice touch, Sam!
But it's clearly working.
The Don't Bothers are just
one win away from the semis
and are locked in a tie game
with ten seconds left.
Evan Morrow on a breakaway
to win the game.
He scores!
We're so proud of you. You were
absolutely right to join this team.
- You mean that?
- Totally.
Bringing the underdogs
to the State Championship?
Best college essay ever.
They get mountains of applications,
you gotta make it pop.
Is your knee acting up again?
Uh, just tweaked
something, I'll be fine.
at the front entrance,
for continuous updates
God. I feel so bad for Koob.
I mean, his parents never come.
I know, I reached out
to them five times.
Hey, guys Guys!
The Ducks just won.
They're in the finals.
So, if we win tomorrow
You play the Ducks for
the whole shebang.
"Shebang". God, you have
such a way with words.
All right, team, let's not
get ahead of ourselves.
We still have to play the Lumberjacks.
I don't know if you've seen 'em,
but they're big, they're yoked,
and they look like, um
- Lumberjacks.
- Lumberjacks.
Exactly. So, let's all
get a good night rest,
because you're gonna need it.
- Yeah! Let's do this!
- Let's go!
Alex?
What are you doing here?
Excuse me. What are you doing here?
Couldn't sleep. Needed to come
here and work some things out.
Same here. It's kind of overwhelming.
Should we sit closer to each other?
I can't believe we're really here.
You know what I was
thinking about today?
I gave the kids trophies
before we played our first game.
I was just so afraid
we wouldn't win one.
I wanted them to have something
while we were still undefeated.
Well,
you got us here.
We did.
So, how in the world did
you find the Ice Palace?
I mean, were you lost?
Um, I was doing some awful
grunt work for Stephanie,
and I was just feeling
like such a failure,
and I saw it, and I
just had a feeling
And since then, I really feel so
proud of what we did, you know?
Kinda waiting for the
other shoe to drop.
What if there isn't another shoe?
What if good things can
happen to good people?
This sounds really dumb,
but I'm thankful to hockey.
I see how inspired the kids are,
and it inspires me, you know?
I'm thinking about going
back to law school, I mean
You should. You'd be a heck of a lawyer.
It takes one to know one.
Oh, right. I always forget that.
So, what about you?
What's your next move?
Uh, well, I'm thinking
about the Winter Olympics.
They're gonna need a
lot of Zamboni drivers
and I'm pretty darn good at that.
Yeah.
- Boo!
- It's the semi-finals
between the Don't Brothers
and the Lumberjacks.
And the Lumberjacks are jacked.
This one's for you!
You go, baby!
Is that his mom or his wife?
All right. Boys.
The Lumberjacks are really
roughing up the Don't Bothers.
Is the ref even watching?
Time!
Hey, you okay? You look
like you've seen a ghost.
- They came.
- Who?
My mom and dad. First time
they've ever seen me play.
Make 'em proud.
Zero-zero, late in the third.
Koob's been lights-out in goal.
Koob throws it to Sofi Hanson-Bhatt.
She gets the zone. She shoots.
She scores!
Oh! But goes down hard into the boards.
Yeah! Sofi, nice work!
Is she okay?
- Yeah, I am. I'm fine.
- Yeah, Sofi!
- What's wrong? You all right?
- I'm good.
- Good hustle, good job.
- You okay?
- Stack up on defense.
- Lauren! Maya!
Choke the clock, we're in the finals.
Koobler makes the save!
Don't Bothers win!
- Yes! Yes!
- Yeah!
Since our tournament began,
the Don't Bothers have been on
a collision course with destiny,
and that destiny has a name
The Mighty Ducks.
For the Ducks, it's a fight
to hold on to their crown.
For the Don't Bothers, a shot
to prove they truly belong.
- Yeah I get it.
- Um
Oh, hey.
Oh
He's not very friendly.
He's looking at us like he
wants to slash our tires.
No. He's giving us the classic
pre-game "Coach Glare".
The advantage goes to
whoever lasts longer.
- That can't be a real thing.
- It's a thing.
And I'm pretty good at it.
Oh, are you now?
So, what, you just stare at each other?
God, you guys are
taking this so seriously.
Let me focus, please.
Oh.
Now, I don't wanna jinx it,
but could I request trophy
custody over the summer?
Last year, at sleep-away
camp, I cried a lot,
so I'd kinda like to re-brand.
- I like it. Everyone should vote on it.
- Yes.
Oh, man. Sofi
What? I'm fine. I'm totally fine.
You're totally not fine.
There's no way you're
playing on that knee.
Okay, listen to me.
How many kids are on our team?
Ten. Why?
This isn't just any random game.
It's the State Championships.
The rules say we need at least
a ten-person active roster,
or we're not allowed to play.
- So, if I don't play
- We have to forfeit.
Which is why you cannot tell
anybody about my knee. Got it?
How does this end? Men are idiots.
Mom. Coach.
Dang it.
We have to talk to Sofi's
parents. Like, right now.
Okay, so it seems to be just
above a grade-one sprain.
Technically, she could play if
- I can play.
- "If"? There's an "if"?
If you can deal with the pain.
- I'll be fine.
- But
"But"? There's a "but"?
But if you get hit,
or fall the wrong way,
there's a chance you could
tear the ligament further
and cause real damage,
maybe even permanent.
It's your call.
- I'll give you guys some privacy.
- Thank you.
Great. I'm good to go.
Sofi, look, I've had more knee
operations than I can count.
It's not my place to
say if you shouldn't.
"Shouldn't" what?
There is no way I'm bailing on my team.
I'm playing.
I get it. We've come
so far. We're so close.
- But winning isn't everything.
- Really?
What about my college essay?
What about bringing the underdog
team to the State Championship?
You're hurt. It's not worth it.
No matter what our bumper stickers say,
we care way more about you than hockey.
No.
No way.
You guys might be okay with me
being the reason everyone loses,
but I'm not.
Players-only meeting.
Uh, sorry. I may be the
one who taught her that.
How could you go behind
my back like that?
I had to. You heard the medic.
You could've damaged your knee.
Only if I hit it the wrong way.
So, you're relying on
hitting it the right way?
No trophy is worth that much
if it means you get hurt.
I have to play. Ten
players, or we forfeit.
I mean, I'd ruin this for everyone.
Guys, here's the deal.
- We got it.
- There are a lot of context clues.
Then we agree. I'm playing.
Come on, let's go out there
and win this thing.
No.
If you won't sit out, then I will.
We'll forfeit 'cause of me.
And me.
And me.
- And me.
- And me.
- And me.
- And me.
These two, too.
It's okay.
We're okay.
Come on, bring it in.
Don't Bothers.
Ladies and gentlemen,
I am honored to present
the first place trophy
to this year's Minnesota
State Champions
The Mighty Ducks.
How do they already have hats?
I feel like I let everyone down.
You never let us down.
Besides, it's just a trophy.
Who wants a trophy?
Can't even drink out of 'em.
Hey, you guys don't happen to know
the name of a good engraver, do you?
Wait, why would you?
You know, you didn't
really win anything?
Well, I got a trophy
and a $200 gift card
to P.F. Chang's that says otherwise.
A trophy means nothing, and you know it.
There's a little voice inside you that
knows you didn't really beat us.
- There's no voice.
- Oh, there's a voice.
You know what you've got
with this championship?
You got yourself an asterisk.
- There's no asterisk.
- Oh, there's an asterisk.
I don't think you get to decide
whether or not there's an asterisk.
- Doesn't matter. It's there.
- Come on.
- We would have crushed you.
- Well, then, why don't you prove it?
Meet us tomorrow at
the Ice Palace at dawn.
"Dawn?" What is this, a duel?
Fine. We can meet at
a more reasonable hour,
but let's settle this on the ice.
No cameras, no crowds. Just hockey.
This is ridiculous. You're down
your best player, it'd be a joke.
Well, then you've got
nothing to be afraid of.
What's it gonna take to make
this happen? What do you want?
For you to go away.
- For good.
- What?
If we win, your team goes
from the Don't Bothers,
to the Don't Exists.
Fine. Wait. What?
How would that even work?
You drop out of the league. I never
have to see your faces again.
Yeah, you know what?
I'm starting to like this.
- Uh Uh
- No. No way.
Believe me, I was just talking. I don't
even know what I was thinking.
I know what you were thinking.
You were thinking we were gonna win.
I was thinking that too.
- Really?
- Yeah.
Guys, look, I don't wanna
give this all up either,
and I know this might be crazy,
but if there's one thing
I know about our team,
it's we don't walk away from a
challenge just 'cause it's hard.
If we did, we wouldn't have
been a team in the first place.
- He's right.
- Yeah, what he said.
We want something too.
Oh. What, you mean the P.F. Chang card?
If you win, we walk away.
But if we win, we take your name.
Our name?
See, you have no idea what
it means to be a real Duck.
If we win, we become The Mighty Ducks.
Bro, you can't just change the
name of an entire organization.
