The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers
I am Coach Colin Cole.
All of you were invited here
because you are the best of the best
from across the country.
I'm sorry, who are you?
We're the Mighty Ducks.
There's been a mistake.
We invited the wrong team.
Coach Cole, you cannot do this.
These kids have some kind of magic.
Welcome to the icebreaker.
But you're no longer part of a team.
You're competing for yourself.
Come on, man, you're better than that.
Not sure I am, Dad.
There's not a single group of people
I believe in more than you guys.
We're in pain, but we're staying.
Schedules just went out.
Summer starts at 5:00 a.m.
Fire! Fire! Fire.
Oh.
Oh, no. 5:00 a.m. Wake up.
Wake up!
Time to have fun at camp!
All right, guys. Crack of dawn,
hitting it hard. Isn't this exciting?
Yeah, totally. Quick question.
Whose shirt am I wearing?
You know, this place has trained like
20 guys who are in the NHL right now.
And three women on team USA.
I would slay in the Olympic Village.
How hot are bobsledders?
- Hey, Mom.
- Oh, hi, Ev.
Two coffees. Don't judge.
Did you guys get your schedules?
Check your phones!
- We were not going with each other?
- Mmm-mmm.
- Really?
- Yeah, I'm seeing a lot of randos.
- At least we've ice drills together.
- Yeah.
Remember, like Coach Cole said.
You're no longer a team,
you're a group of kids
trying to beat each other,
hurt each other, also have fun.
Oh, there they are!
The kids I invited by mistake.
I certainly did not get
an earful about that. Morning!
What are these?
These are performance bands.
They track all kinds of things.
Like active minutes, muscle mass,
agility algorithms. Hand-eye
coordination, we track that too.
Anyway, all this information
goes into the system
and we develop what we call
Real Time Player Rankings.
It all goes right up there.
Pretty cool, right?
So, I'm my own avatar? I'm listening.
The first half of the summer
is all about individual training. Okay?
Then your rankings will lock,
the coaches will draft teams
for tournament play.
Whoever wins that tournament
will play in the summer showcase
against our bitter rivals. Canada.
- The one with all the scouts?
- Yeah.
We got a big day. Let's go.
- Okay, these are pretty cool.
- Right?
So, you're telling me those
rankings are in real time?
Mmm.
There we go, there we go, there we go.
Sweet. Number one on the board.
Yeah!
Yo, burpees! Let's go!
That's my roommate.
He started clapping when the
horn woke us up this morning.
I'm still top 20, 30, 70, 80 Aw, man.
Hey, at least you got
a taste at the top.
Just wondering.
If my avatar dies, do I die too?
- Hi, excuse me.
- It's good hustle, high knees.
Coach Coach Cole? Hi!
- Oh, hey, good morning.
- Good morning to you.
Quick question, I just had
about the kids' schedules.
Um
- Way more intense than I thought.
- That's not surprising.
I mean, I get it. You're trying
to create hockey killers,
but even killers need
an hour of rest, you know.
Just to give them energy to kill more.
I mean, I went to camp! It was mellow.
We tie-dyed, there were horses.
There was this cute guy named Todd
I used to meet behind the manure pile.
Sounds like fun times. Great story.
But this isn't a camp.
This is an institute
and your kids wanted to stay,
which means they follow our program.
You're the dorm supervisor, which
means you're gonna make sure
our athletes sleep, eat, and
train on schedule. Okay?
'Kay. Hey, loving the, what do they call
the friendship bracelets from hell?
Those are performance bands.
- Oh, well.
- Yeah.
I don't know Oh, God.
That's first blood.
Come on, Nick. If you want
to earn it, you got to burn it.
Hey, that's the heat. Good heat.
Pick a corner.
Hold on. Wait, wait, wait.
You're leaving power on the table.
Put all your weight over the top
of the stick. Maximize that flex.
Hey, yes. Nice adjustment.
Thanks.
Yeah, looks like we're partners
to this checking drill here.
Hi, I'm Nick. I'm from Minnesota
and people back home love me.
So, do with that what you will.
Too much talking. Drop down, give me 20.
- Right here?
- Yes!
Slippery ice, am I right?
One
All right, everyone. I am Coach Jackie,
and this is strength and conditioning.
Now, I'm gonna tell y'all a funny story.
I found my ten-year-old nephew
trapped underneath a car.
You know, back then, I was so weak
I couldn't even open a pickle jar.
But in that moment of crisis,
my body was able to forget
its own limitations.
I was able to lift up that automobile
and save that little boy's life.
Now he lives in St. Louis
and he runs his own business.
Out of his apartment.
He sells artisanal habanero ketchup.
Which isn't that spicy so it's
basically $8 regular ketchup.
Nobody buying that stuff so I'm
going to lose my investment.
Point is, he is alive!
And that is thanks to a phenomenon
called hysterical strength.
Check this.
Okay.
Jesus.
I call that consistent, controlled,
hysterical strength.
You. Go.
- Me?
- Yeah, you.
All right.
Here we go. Right. Here we go.
That's it. Come on.
Come on.
That's right. Come on.
Come on.
Yeah, yeah. I think it's a grip thing.
You know, I need the powder, you know.
Hey. Listen. Who do you love?
My moms?
Right now, your moms are trapped
under a 1994 Chevy Impala.
- What you gonna do?
- I save them.
Yeah. That's what I'm
talking about. Come on.
Come on.
- Yeah, no, I can't. I can't do that.
- Hey, hey. Don't worry.
They're already dead.
Buttons. I'm home.
- I can handle some video games.
- Wrong.
These games are not a game.
This is Headspace.
A gymnasium for your mind.
This is where you gain
an advantage on the ice.
By getting mentally tough.
Learn how to handle pressure.
This is where your brains get jacked.
Wow.
This VR stuff is so real.
Feels like I'm really on the ice.
That guy looks mad.
He's coming right at me.
Yes, lunch.
I'm so hungry. I burned
every calorie I had.
My body's starting to eat itself.
Come, come, come. Bring it on in!
I bet you've all worked up
an appetite. Who wants pizza?
Oh, yes.
Yeah. Pizza's delicious.
It's also like cigarettes
for your arteries.
I'm Coach Rufus,
and today we're going to discuss
post-workout recovery nutrition.
It's all about the three Rs.
Refuel, repair, and rehydrate.
Oh, my God. This isn't lunch,
this is a lecture about lunch.
Look, I know what you're thinking.
"Coach Rufus, can't we
treat ourselves too?"
But don't worry, I got you covered.
I present to you nature's candy,
the yam!
- Dude, I'm going for trash pizza.
- No, no, no!
- Give it to me.
- No, no.
My man up front coming
in hot with a query. Hit me!
Can we eat while you talk or can
you just not talk and we can eat?
Don't worry. After this,
you're free to eat, relax,
whatever you want, from 1:00 to 1:15.
That time is yours.
Then of course, in the afternoon,
Dead Man's Run.
What?
I wanna go home.
I'm leaving on a jet plane ♪
Don't know when I'll be back again ♪
Hopefully never
because this place is crazy ♪
Hey. You're Jace, right?
That's me.
- Shouldn't you be on the afternoon run?
- Is that right now?
Sorry, does that mean I'm in trouble?
Technically, my job here is to make sure
that all of the kids eat, sleep,
and get to their practice on time.
What if I have a stomach ache?
Then cool with me.
Not worried about being
at the bottom of the big board?
- No. I mean, hockey's not really my thing.
- Mmm.
And I'm only here 'cause
my dad makes me come.
Aw, really?
Yeah, but I mean, this place
is kinda crazy anyways
and the camp director,
he's a little nuts.
Thank you. Thank you!
I mean, I get it, we all like sports
but he's like over the top
and these things he makes you
wear that measure everything.
They're like prison monitors, right?
Literally a prison monitor.

You do! And you keep going great.
- Right. Jace, you missed the run.
- I was just telling him that.
Oh, I did? My bad.
I'm gonna give you a pass for all that.
Because I know my son knows
how to rile people up.
- That's your son?
- Yeah.
I love the guitar, you should

and you worked so hard
and you got so much better
