KAYLA: It's really inspiring to be able to work at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
ANGEL: I am a girl trapped in a boy's body, and I want my father to be proud of me.
JORGE: Being from Mexico, when I walk through those doors, I want to make my American dream come true.

DALY: Let's meet the first artist of night three.
You get out there and you bring it.
And you do it! And you do it! You got this! My name is Christiana Danielle.
I'm 22 years old.
And I'm from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
I recently graduated and I have my bachelor's in social work, and I'm taking a gap year in between going to grad school.
This is what I'm doing in my year off.
Growing up, I only really listened to gospel music.
At the same time, my mom was a rapper.
She's a Christian rapper.
[Laughs.]
We come into this house to give God the glory We raise our hands as we tell our story He brought us out and he brought us through, yeah He erased our past, made our lives brand-new - [Rap horn blows.]
- Go, Mom! Not many people could say their mom's a rapper, so That's cool.
[Laughs.]
My senior year of high school, I got into jazz and the blues Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse.
Everything is just like, "Oh, yeah, this is where I fit in.
" So, I took choir.
That's when I really started embracing who I was as an artist.
But as music took a more important place in my life, I caught a throat infection and they had to rush me into surgery.
She wasn't able to breathe, and it was a terrifying moment as a as a parent.
I was laying in the recovery room and the doctor said, "She's not gonna be able to sing," and my tears rolled down my eyes.
I really felt like a part of me died.
After therapy and recovery, I went to the ear, nose, and throat doctor and she was like, "I can't believe that you're healing like this, and I can't believe that you're talking to me in a regular voice.
" I definitely consider it a miracle that I got my voice back.
I went straight to my pastor, and I was like, "I know exactly what I want to do, and I want to sing.
" Now I sing at shelters and at churches, so this is the biggest performance I've ever done in my entire life.

I'm flipping the song and making it more emotional.
It shows my versatility.
I'm just ready to go.

BOTH: Wakin' up on the wrong side BRETT: To give my music all of my attention, I gave up an amazing job recruiting for different startups.
And so, I moved in with my brother.

I live in a four-bedroom house with four roommates and a rotating cast of bands that stay on the couch.

I'm a really great sleeper.

BRETT: I'm really grateful for my brother.

Jamai, tell me a little bit about what you do for a living.
I do singing telegrams.
I just sing to people and send love messages.
How did you come up with the idea for a singing telegram company? When I was in high school, it was something to just make some extra bucks for Valentine's Day.
And I would sing to girlfriends and I just kept with it.
JAMAI: I'll sing Frank Sinatra, Bruno Mars, and the word of mouth spread and today, it's a full-service singing telegram company for all occasions birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, breakups, makeups.
Even did a telegram where the guy, he dressed up as a knight in shining armor and rented a horse and sung with me.
When I'm not doing singing telegrams, I'm in the studio, I'm practicing, but I'm ready to take it to the next level.

I'm 22 years old, and I'm from Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
I grew up in a very musical household.
Both my parents sang to me every night.
My mom would come in and sing "Girl From Ipanema.
" My dad sang Frank Sinatra.
I learned the words better than him.
He would doze off, and he would be like And the way you look And I'm like, "Dad, 'the way you look tonight.
'" He's like, "Oh, right.
Yeah, yeah, okay.
" RICHARD: He played the guitar from first grade.
He started singing into little cassette players, and, um, he was always a singer.
I started listening to reggae in eighth grade.
I formed a band with my two best friends.
After high school, I went to Berklee College of Music.
I got to take songwriting courses and performance courses.
It was It was such an amazing experience.
It's everything to me, guys.
It's It means so much that you're here.
I'll have to tell you, when I see him on stage, I'm a crier, so I'll probably cry with pride and just hope for the best.
I'm singing one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite artists.

MIA: My name is Mia Boostrom.
I'm 24 years old, and I'm from Boston, Massachusetts.
When I was about 4 years old, my dad bought this piano for the house so he could learn.
And I would sing along, but I didn't really start singing until I was in middle school.
I immediately started writing my own music in high school.
I decided, on a whim, to go try out for a competition.
And what I thought was gonna be an amazing experience ended up being the hardest thing that I've ever had to go through.
I got so many negative comments.
It was no longer about my talent.
It was just about the way I looked.
I was never a small girl.
I was very overweight.
I mean, I was 15 years old.
And I was no longer known for my music.
I was known as the fat girl.
It's stopped me in my tracks.
DINA: It took a toll on her.
So, as a mom, it was difficult for me to see that, because she's blessed with a beautiful voice.
I love music.
And I feel so bad that I left it for as long as I did.
[Voice breaking.]
It's been a lot.
It's been a lot of humiliation.
I didn't want to step on a stage again because I was scared what people would say.
Maybe it's my time to go back out there.
Maybe it's my time to try again.
"The Voice" is everything that musicians need.
It just shows you can be everything you want to be in one moment.
If one person turns around for me, that's enough.

And now it's surreal that my daughter is going to have this opportunity.

JACKIE: I'm Jackie Foster, I'm 21 years old, and I am from San Diego, California.
But I'm currently living in Boston, Massachusetts.
I am the lead singer of Self Portraits, which is a band based out of Boston.
Offstage, I'm always wearing flowery dresses and dressing really cute.
And then when I get on stage, it's dark colors, grungy makeup.
It's a lot of this.
People just kind of think, "Are you sure that's the same girl?" I started singing around the house at 6 years old.
Then I started musical theater.
My first role ever, I played the Lollipop Guild in "The Wizard of Oz.
" I was so sad that I was a boy, but I was like, "If I can conquer being a boy, I can do anything else.
" And that's how I fell in love with music.
I was a Munchkin.
[Laughs.]
In high school, I heard of Berklee College of Music.
I just knew that this is the college where I wanted to be.
Financially, we were not able to afford it, so I had to look at other schools.
And then I got a call from the director of scholarships, and he said, "I want to congratulate you because you've received the Berklee Lollapalooza Scholarship.
" Wow.
[Voice breaking.]
And that phone call changed my life that day.
Throughout the years, I have studied musical theater, then I was classically trained, then I started doing pop, kind of going into alternative rock.
This is just so important what this show has to offer.
And I just have faith that this is gonna be a life - life-changing experience.

I am originally from Waggaman, Louisiana.
I work at the Red Onion six days a week.
The Red Onion is, um, a grab-and-go food option.
I stock sandwiches.
I'm refilling sodas.
White bean and bacon or beef stew.
I get to have a day job that can help me pay rent, 'cause, you know, that's important.
It's really cool and inspiring as a country music artist to be able to work here.
There are days in the morning, no one's here, and I can walk upstairs and see all the history.
There's this cool gold record wall.
Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline people that have paved the way for artists like me.
Trisha Yearwood her application to work here is up in the museum.
I see these song lyrics and I see these stories of artists.
One day I want to be in this museum, you know? I started singing when I was 4.
There was a very popular band back home.
They had played at fairs and festivals.
And one day, I apparently told my mom, "I want to go up there.
" Next year, I was on the main stage and from there, I had a band.
We played fairs, festivals, parties, weddings.
My parents worked really hard.
My mom, she really helped with booking and my dad and my brother would help with, like, loading stuff in and onstage.
When I turned 18, obviously, I moved to Nashville, and I knew it was something I needed to do.
For me, "The Voice" can help establish something bigger.
I mean, it's a whole nother level.
Having my family here today is a really cool validation.
They've helped me get here.
You know, they've really put a lot of effort into it.

As much as I love bartending at the restaurant, the last three years have shown me how much I miss singing and performing.
I've been in a band since junior and senior year of high school.
But things musically really started taking off for me after college.
The band started traveling across the country, played hundreds of shows.
One night, I looked out into the crowd, it's just black shadows, except for this one light pointing at this one girl, and that was Jena.
I knew that night that I could not be any luckier.
We got married in 2013.
Touring was pretty hard on us, and I was just missing home more than I had before.
So, in 2014, I quit the band.
So, it's been three years since I've been out of music.
I continue to work more full-time at my family's restaurant.
I heard Reid's voice before I ever talked to him.
I was just so blown away by his talent.
I was an immediate fan.
I have seen how much Reid cares about music.
I've seen how much it has been missing in his life.

Currently, I'm singing at corporate events, restaurants, weddings, but a coach would help me take the next step.
My style of music's very different than what most 20-something-year-olds are pursuing, so this is a big risk for me with old-school jazz.
My dad's always been my biggest inspiration.
He always wanted to be an actor and singer.
This is me picking up the torch where my dad left off.

- Yes! What you're doing and what you do, and, clearly, you know, you walk the walk.
Everything is dialed, and you're a performer.
It's a balance between the performance and the singing.
And I felt like it was leaning heavier on performance, so I wasn't able to hear what I need to hear to turn.
You have, like, this beautiful presence about you, and you got something special to you.

Let's meet the final artist of the night, 26-year-old New York karaoke host Johnny Bliss.
What was it about karaoke that you found exciting? It was being able to sing in front of an audience and not in my bathroom.
Eso JOHNNY: When I was 19, I started singing karaoke.
Calma mis ansias de amar Hearing everybody respond positively was something huge for me.
I started hosting karaoke about three years ago.
Everybody, make some noise! But being a karaoke host is not enough.
I hope to be a crossover artist who sings in English and in Spanish.
I feel like I'm ready to take the stage and become the artist I always dreamed of becoming.
So, Johnny, where did you grow up? I actually grew up in the Washington Heights area.
It's predominantly Dominicans there.
But I am half-Dominican and half-Puerto Rican.
- What was your childhood like? - It was hard for me to fit in, 'cause I went through the whole bullying thing.
I was in the closet and also obese as a child.
As a teenager, I was having a really tough time, and I went to live with family in Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
I was so young and I was still trying to find myself.
I found people who were like me, music lovers who actually loved the same type of music I love.
They wanted to hear me sing and I finally made real friendships, so I felt home.
I gained so much confidence that when I moved back to New York, I decided to come out to my family.
My grandma, she's the only person that has always been there.
If my grandmother accepts me, then I don't care who doesn't.
And when I told her, she hugged me and she said, "I'm gonna love you unconditionally because you are the love of my life.
" It was this huge weight lifted off my shoulders.
I am the proudest grandma in the whole world, and I wouldn't want it any other way.
[Chuckles.]
Thank you.
All I've ever wanted is to make my my family super proud of me, for everybody to just acknowledge that I fulfilled my my potential.
This is stuff that I used to dream about when I was little, and it's actually happening and it's unreal.
[Chuckles.]
For my blind audition, I'll be singing Marc Anthony, "Preciosa.
" "Preciosa" means "precious.
" And in the past year, Hurricane Maria was devastating to Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic.
So, I wanted to take this moment to pay tribute and sing this song for them.
When I heard that Kelly Clarkson was the new coach, I was very excited.
She's done ballads.
She's done rock.
She's done pop.
She writes.
She would be amazing to work with.

I think that you have not only the voice that can that can go all the way here, but what I also believe is that there are those really rare moments where I can actually lose myself in something and feel something so incredible and overwhelming, and I-I had one with you.
And so, I thought to myself, "Man, all I want to do is be part of this guy's journey of what you're doing up there," 'cause it was so, so special.
