Thunderbirds Are Go! (2015) s02e07 Episode Script

Up From the Depths (Part 2)

Previously on "Thunderbirds Are Go" - It's the TV-21! - It's the first Thunderbird.
Your father thought the wreckage would be lost forever.
- Something doesn't add up.
- I've seen engineering like this before.
It's the w-work of The Mechanic.
Thunderbird 4, g-get out of there! International Rescue, the Surveyor is going for the TV-21.
It's stealing Dad's ship.
Five.
Four.
Three.
Two.
One.
[THRUSTERS.]
[TITLE MUSIC.]
Thunderbirds are go! 2x06 - Up From the Depths, Part 2 This is Thunderbird 1 in immediate pursuit of The Mechanic.
I've got you, Thunderbird 1.
Thunderbird 5 is tracking you at 1,000 metres and closing.
The TV-21.
Wow.
I haven't seen it since I was a kid.
But just as cool as I remember.
But please use caution, Scott.
The Mechanic must be piloting remotely.
That means he's got n-nothing to lose.
Except Dad's old plane he's carrying.
Scott, there's a safe area up ahead.
You can knock out the TV-21 and bring down the plane - with zero civilian casualties.
- No way, Thunderbird 5.
That plane belongs to us.
And I'm gonna get it back in one piece.
Got it! Now to put on the brakes.
Scott, when I designed the TV-21, your dad w-wanted all the thrust I could give him.
That booster is the most p-powerful one I've ever built.
More powerful than Thunderbird 1 ?! Well, yes.
[BLARING ALARMS.]
Lost manoeuvring thrusters.
Propellant pumps compromised.
Thunderbird 1 is going down.
Scott, this is Grandma.
Stay calm.
Throttle back your thrusters.
Extend wings to full span.
Now punch it! International Rescue, Thunderbird 1 is levelling off.
But the TV-21 got away.
Thunderbird 1, return to base.
I'll continue surveillance from Thunderbird 5 and alert the global defence force.
Don't worry.
I won't let the TV-21 out of my sight.
If The Mechanic is piloting the TV-21 remotely, it's got to be receiving a control signal.
And that control signal must be broadcasting from somewhere.
Exactly.
It's double-encrypted and bouncing around repeaters.
But he can't hide from me.
Got it! The Scottish Highlands.
- I'm on my way.
- Kayo, this is a job for the GDF.
And they're now focused on that craft of his.
The Mechanic already ran out on us once.
By the time the GDF gets around to chasing signals, he'll be long gone.
Thunderbird Shadow moves fast and quiet.
He won't hear me coming.
[MUSIC.]
Five, four, three, two, one.
KAYO: Thunderbird Shadow is go! Kayo shouldn't face The Mechanic alone.
I'm getting her some help.
[MUSIC.]
[BEEPING.]
Hello, dear.
Are you busy? Never too busy for you, Mrs Tracy.
How would you like a second chance to get The Mechanic? I'd enjoy it more than Parker likes complaining about the weather.
- Scotland, please, Parker.
- Right away, m'lady.
Of all the places to hide out, he picks the rainy one.
[WHIRING.]
[MUSIC.]
FAB 1 is off! [HAMMERING AND CLANKING.]
What do you think? I think we have a l-lot of work to do.
[MAX BLEEPS.]
I get that everyone loves the TV-21 but it's just a plane.
It's also a symbol of your father's determination.
Ever since he was a boy, your father dreamed he'd be the fastest pilot who ever flew.
So he and Brains built the TV-21? It was beautiful.
A dream come true.
- Until The Hood crashed it.
- But it didn't crash his dream.
Your dad didn't care about being fastest anymore.
He only cared about being first.
First on the scene when people need help.
First to act when someone's in trouble.
And instead of one ship to do it all, he built five.
The TV-21 was the beginning of International Rescue.
We have to get that plane back.
[ALARM.]
We've got a development.
Thunderbird 5.
- What's the situation, John? - The Mechanic's craft has stopped over the GDF's high security iridium vault.
The GDF are responding now.
All personnel have been evacuated, Colonel Casey.
Except one.
- Well, get him out of there.
- He says he won't leave.
He's afraid of losing his job.
Oh, and he told me to say, "Gladys won't go either.
" - What's his name? - A crewman.
- Tedford.
Ned Tedford.
- Oh, boy.
No-one's stealing the world's supply of iridium, Gladys.
Not on our watch.
Whoa! Hey! What's happening? [BOOM!.]
Whew! Phew, Gladys.
I thought we were in trouble there for a second.
The target is moving, Colonel.
What are your orders? Hold your fire.
We have a worker in there.
Aaaargh! Gladys! Help! Uhhh Uhhh Aaaaah! Get me International Rescue.
Whoooa! Whoooa! Hold on to something, Gladys! The Mechanic's craft has launched, taking the world's iridium supply with it.
Will the GDF destroy it once it's out of the atmosphere? Negative.
As much as I'd like to smash his toy, there's a worker trapped inside the vault.
That's why we called you guys.
OK, Colonel.
International Rescue is on it.
We're here if you need us.
Good luck.
Even with the TV-21's booster, that mass of iridium is slowing it down big time.
The vault structure is reinforced and airtight.
It will protect the worker in space, but his oxygen won't last forever.
- Then we better hurry.
- There's a problem.
The Mechanic has already taken out two Thunderbirds.
Thunderbird 3 will be defenceless.
Oh.
We need a way to beat The Mechanic at his own game.
[SIZZLE OF WELDER.]
Hacks-driver.
[SIGHS.]
- Does this look like a hacks-driver? - Brains! We need a way to protect ourselves from The Mechanic! - What can you give us? - I d-don't usually build defences.
But with a little thinking, maybe we c-could adapt something.
[BLEEPING.]
No, Max.
We can't.
It's not ready.
B-But it's never even been tested! Brains, whatever it is, will it help us stop The Mechanic? Well, c-conceivably yes.
- Then we'll take it.
- OK, Max.
Let's g-get to work.
Going my way? Grandma Tracy's orders.
We'll meet you on the ground.
[TYRES SCREECH.]
[TYRES SQUEAL.]
Honestly, Parker, a crowbar? Alice here has got me out of plenty of tight spots in the past.
- Isn't that right, old girl? - "Alice?" [SIGHS.]
Let's go and pay The Mechanic a visit.
[CROW CAWS.]
- What is it? - It's a replacement node for articulated k-kinematic rescue operations in deep space.
- Er? - It's a robot.
Like Max! Got it.
Thanks, Brains.
Alan, let's launch.
[MUSIC.]
Thunderbird 3 is go! We're approaching the TV-21.
Cut ion engines and fire full retro thrusters.
OK, Brains, we're in position.
Show us what you got.
Good luck, Max.
- F - A - B.
It's not like Max.
It is Max! M-Maximum Max! [MUSIC.]
Brains, quick.
How do I work this thing? M-Maximum Max will respond to your commands, Alan.
Max's on-board AI will help with the f-fine controls.
- Got it.
- All you've gotta do is keep him busy while I get that worker out of the vault.
Just be careful of the TV-21.
I don't know how stable its fusion reactors are.
It's game time.
Ohhh! Yah! That's more like it.
OK, Max, what surprises have we got for him? [ALARM GOES OFF.]
Ho-ho! Way to go, Max! Hold steady, Alan.
I'm taking out the docking bubble.
You've got it, bro.
- Oh, sorry, Max.
- MAX: Ooo, bloop bloop! Bubble secure.
Now let's cut a door in this thing.
Here they come, Gladys.
I hope they're ready for a fight.
- It's International Aaagh! - Keep your dirty hands off this iridium.
- Ned Tedford? - Oh, it's you! - Sorry about that.
- Why am I not surprised? - I need you to climb into the airlock.
- No way.
I was told to watch this iridium.
I won't let it be stolen.
Uh it's already been stolen, Ned.
- You do realise you're in space, right? - Hmm.
That does explain the floatiness.
But it does not change anything.
I'm not going anywhere without this vault.
Brains, we're at the location.
Good, Kayo.
The signal is definitely coming from those coordinates.
The TV-21 is being controlled from there.
- Don't worry, we'll shut him down.
- Parker, if you'd do the honours.
- Righty-ho - Quietly, Parker.
We don't want The Mechanic running out on us again.
Sorry, old girl.
[BLEEPING.]
Wait.
Something's not right.
[BLEEPING.]
- Cor! - Cor indeed.
Stay close.
Alan, we're going to have to retrieve the iridium as well.
Scott, that's not the mission.
It wasn't.
But it is now.
- Can you and Max cut the vault free? - Yeah, we can try.
[ALARM.]
[GRUNTS.]
Hold on, Max.
Just one more.
OK, Scott.
The vault's free.
Returning to Thunderbird 3 with Ned and the vault.
Oh.
There's too much momentum! We're going to miss.
Hang on, Gladys! Oooh! Argh! ALAN: Switching to full manual.
Gotcha! Way to go, Max.
You're a hero! Ah, great work.
Let's get outta here.
The TV-21 is powering up.
Scott, he's gonna get away.
We still have a rescue to finish.
But But it's Dad's plane.
I know, Alan.
But it's not Dad.
"FAB.
Thunderbird 3 returning home.
" [ALARM.]
Guys, I'm picking up major heat signals coming from the TV-21.
The Mechanic is overloading the p-plane's fusion reactors.
They're going into meltdown.
Thunderbird 3, get out of there! [GASPS.]
It's got me! International Rescue.
Sorry we didn't knock.
Unplug him! Thunderbird 3, you're free.
Alan, do it! Daaa Dah! Sorry, Dad.
No more hiding.
Let's see what you really look like.
It's a drone! It's been cloaked.
That's one of The Hood's old tricks.
[LAUGHS.]
Where do you think he got it from? - Huh! - Oh! He's rigged it to blow! Run! Aaah! I'm gonna get that guy.
- I swear it, I'm going to get him.
- Oh, no! - Alice! - Don't worry, Parker.
We'll get you another crowbar.
- Even bigger.
- Yes, m'lady.
[MUSIC.]
- Iridium safely returned, ma'am.
- Thank you, Ned.
We almost had it, Grandma.
The TV-21 was so close.
Dad really loved that plane.
Eh.
In the end, the TV-21 was just a bunch of steel and rivets.
Your father would never have risked failing a mission just to save it.
What he really loved was us.
All of us his family.
And going really, really fast.
[LAUGHTER.]
