Wolfblood (2012) s01e02 Episode Script

Mysterious Developments

You always say how we have to never give in to our wolf-self.
You don't understand how powerful the pull of the moon is.
And don't go hitting me on the nose again! This is proof, Tom.
Proof there is something weird up there on the moors.
This is Rhydian Morris.
You smell like my parents.
I'm so sorry.
Rhydian! - It's true, isn't it? You're like me! - You're a danger to us all and the sooner you leave, the better! You may be like me, but you think the same as them.
So next time you lose control of your wolf-self? What happens then? That'll be an interesting day, won't it? Come on.
Where are you? Got you.
Thanks, Mam.
Next time you miss the bus, you can walk to school! If I ran, I'd get here before the bus! Don't forget to invite Rhydian round for dinner.
We need to talk to him about transforming safely.
Justlet me talk to him first.
No, Maddy, invite him round.
- Mam! - Which one is he anyway? That's him, isn't it? Can't hide anything from a Wolfblood.
Poor lad.
Imagine going through all that on your own.
- Look, Mam, I've got to go.
- This is serious.
He could expose us all.
Mam, he's not an idiot.
Look, I'll talk to him.
Just promise not to embarrass him.
Of course not.
I'm not entirely without tact! Tell him Wednesday's hog roast night! You idiot! Mads, come check this out! Incredible, isn't it? Proof at last.
Yeah -It's so scary! - Where did you get it? - I took it myself this morning.
- It's amazing! Seriously, Shannon, we always just thought you were a bit mental.
Thanks! - It looks a like a wolf.
- Were you scared? Nah! I've been up on the moors searching for proof for years.
You call this proof? Yeah, I call it proof.
What do you call it? Photoshop? You can laugh all you like, but I've got the card from the camera in the darkroom with the original raw files.
You can't fake those! Fine.
Let's see it, then.
- It was right here! - Oh, maybe the monster took it? Someone took it! Don't tell me, it's a conspiracy.
Shan, leave it, he's not worth it.
You took it, didn't you? To make me look like an idiot! You don't need any help with that.
No! It's real! I'll find the card! - Shan, it's OK.
- No! They believed me, Tom! No-one's ever believed me before! We believe you, and you know the truth! - That's all that matters! - No! This is the closest that I'd ever been, Maddy, and the proof is on that card! I know you took it.
Yeah, you can thank me later.
You made Shannon look like a total idiot.
Tough.
If you weren't wolfing out in the woods, Shannon wouldn't have got a picture on the first place.
It wasn't me! Then who was it? I'm always guilty until proven innocent, aren't I? Our wolf pack hasn't been sighted in Stoneybridge for years.
You come along and suddenly Shannon's got a picture.
Come on! - It couldn't be one of your parents? - They don't wolf out in public! You took that memory card to cover your own back.
I took it to protect us.
If you'd rather protect your idiot friend's reputation, then go ahead.
She's not an idiot.
Oh, Shan, you idiot.
- Are you OK? - Oh, yeah, I'm fine, apart from the fact I'm a laughing stock.
I'm not surprised.
"Have you seen this memory card?" Really, Shan? - And I've got a lunchtime detention tomorrow! - What for? Apparently, photocopying 30 posters is "misuse of school property".
- Well, I'm not surprised - Plus I got a warning for fighting.
What? I was frisking Liam, he shoved me away, - so I cracked him one! - Shan! I need to find that card.
Seriously, she's been obsessed since primary school.
- It's so sad.
- Not as sad as her dress sense! - Come on, Shan.
- You know what, I think I'm just going to go home.
Come to mine.
We'll nick Dad's chocolate biscuits - and we'll watch some films.
- I think I'll leave it.
Who are you, and what have you done with Shannon Kelly? Sorry, Mads.
Hay fever? Looking for the monster, I suppose? Rhydian, just leave it, OK? Why are you so interested in it, then? I was seven.
I was on this camping trip with the Brownies not far from here.
You were in the Brownies? All the tents were arranged in a little circle.
- I was sharing with Kay - Kay from school Kay? Yeah.
She was my best friend.
Anyway, we'd all gone to bed for the night.
But I couldn't sleep.
There were sounds of things outside, probably badgers and stuff, but you know how your imagination plays tricks.
I was playing shadow monsters.
Then there was a real shadow on the outside.
So I turned off my torch and it came closer.
It was right over us.
I thought it was just one of my friends.
So I unzipped the tent to have a look .
.
and there it was.
Thismonstrous face! Hairy, with these yellow eyes.
I screamed so loudly, it woke up the whole camp.
By the time they got to me, the monster it had disappeared.
But I managed to freak out Kay and the others so much they had to call the whole trip off.
Sowhat do you think it was? I don't know.
But when I got back to school, everyone had heard.
Started making fun of me.
I was even sent to a child psychologist.
What for? I wouldn't shut up about what I'd seen.
Everyone said I was just doing it for attention.
It's not nice to be accused of lying, is it? Exactly.
You know chocolate helps hay fever.
Are you sure you don't want it? Nah, I'm good.
Vegan chocolate? My foster parents are vegetarians.
Enjoy! We're just going food shopping.
So, is Rhydian coming round tomorrow? I don't know.
Oh, what's wrong? Come on.
You've had your tail between your legs since you came in.
What's brought this on? Nothing.
I I'm just fed up with lying all the time.
It's not cool.
I can't even tell my friends who I really am.
Well, there's one friend you don't have to lie to.
Make an effort with him, Maddy.
He could learn a lot from you.
He won't listen to us.
Just be patient with him.
The poor lad's never had a real family, let alone a pack.
We have to look out for each other.
- Hey, Shan.
Are you OK? - Yeah, why? Oh, it's just that you were really upset yesterday, I thought you might've went on a rampage for the memory card? I've got it all planned we'll just go back to the woods this weekend and get an even better picture! You, me and Tom? - Maybe even Rhydian! - Rhydian? - Yeah, I saw him after school.
- You did? He was really sweet.
Look, he even gave me this chocolate bar.
It's vegan.
You should try it, it's really nice.
Saturday.
Bring your camera.
Hmm Cool.
Hi.
All right? I'm really sorry about the memory card.
You were right to have taken it.
Yeah.
Totally.
Can you just come to dinner tonight? Mam and Dad, they want to talk to us about .
.
wolfing outsafely? I know it's really, really embarrassing, but we should just get it out the way.
Out of the way, yeah.
And when you change, me and Mam are going to braid your hair.
With ribbon.
And take pictures? Cool.
You're not even listening to us, are you? Sorry, do you know what's on the menu? Uh, I think Wednesday's veggie day.
- Meat.
- Where? You got cravings.
They're vegetarians, Maddy.
My foster parents vegetarians.
Well, Wednesday's hog roast night.
You know, where you get a whole pig and roast it? - With all the trimmings.
- A whole pig? You fancy it? - Yeah.
- Cool.
I can't look at another vegetable.
Macaroni cheese, please.
Were you frightened? It was the most terrifying thing I've ever seen in my life! It's here! Save yourselves! It's attacking me! It's savaging me! What on earth is going on here? She just went for me, sir! - More posters? - She needs help.
I don't need help! That monster's real and I'm going to prove it! Well, you can do it after detention? - What? Another one? - All of you! (Please, not tonight.
I thought we were going this weekend?) Did Scott of the Antarctic wait until the weekend? Yeah But he died.
The point is, the monster could be gone by the weekend.
It's there right now! I can't make it tonight.
I've got this dinner thing with my parents.
Then get out of it.
I can't, they've been nagging me for weeks.
Fine.
Well, Tom's coming, aren't you, Tom? Oh, well, there's a Man U match on tonight - .
.
which I will record.
- Good.
We meet at Bernie's, five o'clock.
How long are we going for, Shan? No Little help? Madeline! Leave some for Rhydian! Mam, I think he'll live.
Your mother has gone to a lot of trouble for this.
After all The "steaks" are high! Stop it, you silly sausage! Right, seriously, you two better stop that.
Hey, I "ham" stopping That's it.
I'm calling him.
He's not coming.
Oh, that'll be him.
Rhydian, I'm Daniel.
Come on in.
Pleased to, er, "meat" you! Help yourself, mate, have as much as you like.
It's got to be cool having a family you can be yourself around.
You're more than welcome any time you want.
And if you've got any questions about anything, just ask.
On the full moon, do you change in the house? In here? No, we've got a secure room in the cellar.
The cellar? You like it? We call it the den.
Got everything a wolf desires.
And it's safe for us and, well, for everyone else.
It's all about responsibility.
But don't you ever just want torun free? Isn't that what being a Wolfblood's about? No.
Being a Wolfblood's not just about giving into our primal desires.
It's about being a responsible part of a wider community.
Yeah, we've got a rich heritage and culture.
We've got books here you won't find in the school library! Rome was founded by the Wolfbloods Romulus and Remus and Genghis Khan's tribe weren't called The Wolves for nothing.
Yeah, but most of us agree it's better to tame our instincts.
Most of us? I just meant that No, you said most of us! You always told us we all kept ourselves locked away! - Maybe we should - She's not old enough.
Old enough for what? There are other Wolfbloods that don't lock themselves away, aren't there? Shut up! You'll scare the monster away with that racket! Sorry You got any food in there? Do I?! Let's have a look.
I've got some sandwiches, cheese, loads of chocolate Is that true? We were going to tell you after you transformed.
- We didn't want to scare you.
- Scare us? There are other Wolfbloods who well, they don't quite share the same values as us.
- Wild Wolfbloods.
- But they're very rare and most of us agree it's better to be a useful part of society, - instead of - Instead of what? Instead of hating humans, and hating us.
They're dangerous.
- It really wasn't you in that photo? - I told you it wasn't.
Shannon and Tom are out there! What's wrong? We've got some beans.
We could heat them up, no problem.
We've got bacon, sausages.
Aw, this is going to be lovely! Right You got any crisps, Shan? What was that? What? Something over there.
You know, I think we should go.
Look, the fog's getting thicker, we aren't going to see anything.
Look! Shannon took it the other day.
I thought it was Rhydian because I didn't know about wild Wolfbloods! - Where did they go? - To the woods.
Here Yeah, but where? Where's here? - I can't explain, but I can find it.
- No.
You two stay here.
- We're coming with you.
- You're staying right here.
If there's a wild Wolfblood out there, we'll sniff it out.
This is ridiculous.
I know where they are.
- Mam and Dad know what they're doing! - In their car? If that wolf's out there, he's using his senses and he'll hunt down Tom and Shannon.
We can get there first.
You're right.
But no wolfing out.
Shannon's got her camera.
Come on, Shan.
It was just a badger, right? - A fox.
Maybe a rabbit - Shush! That's a big badger, Shan.
It's really close! Six o'clock! - No, it's nearly seven.
- No! I mean it's right behind us.
- Oh, your faces! - You idiots! You're not funny! Have you found the "monster" yet? No, thanks to you! Probably scared it off! Oh, please! What kind of monsters would be scared of us? Wh-what was that? It was just a dog.
It must have wandered into the woods.
It's not a dog! It's the monster.
It's my monster.
I'm not hanging around to find out! Look, if you run, it'll chase you! Are you OK? We would be if you stopped jumping out at us! What are you doing here? What are you doing here? I thought you had dinner with your parents? - You had dinner with Rhydian? - On a date? Ooh! Shut up.
He's my cousin! Guys.
- Guys! - What was that? It's the monster! No That's the monster! Everybody get behind me! Mads! Mads! Run! - Ow! - Tom, are you OK? - I'm out of here! - Yeah, let's go! Wait for me! I thought you didn't believe in monsters! - My ankle! - Give me the camera! What? The camera.
The flash blinds the monster! Just give it to me! Stay with Tom! Rhydian! Leave him alone! Listen.
It's stopped.
Come on.
Move I'm sorry I didn't believe you.
I don't blame you.
We didn't even know about wild Wolfbloods.
No.
What's that? It's something.
You can't tell it's a wolf.
We've got to leave something for Shannon.
Yeah.
Anyway, that's my best side.
Where are the others? Tom hurt his ankle, he's with Shannon.
You know Jimi every man for himself.
He's such a wuss.
Yeah.
Yeah, he is! So I'll find Tom and Shannon by myself, then, shall I? Yeah.
Good.
So what do you think it was? It had to be the beast, right?! Probablyfoxes.
Have you ever seen foxes fight? They really go for it, those foxes! - Hi, guys.
- Where've you been? - Looking for you guys.
- Anyway.
What I saw was bigger than a fox.
There's definitely something out there.
What's that? Is everyone all right? What are you doing here? What are you doing here? - We were - Going for a drive.
- Cos Emma likes bird watching.
- Dan likes star-gazing.
- Tom's hurt his ankle.
- Let's get him back to the house.
Here we go.
- You all right? - Yeah, just a bit freaked out, I guess.
Was this you? Did you bring my daughter out here? Come on, you two.
In you get.
No No No No No Whoa, what's that? Oh.
No, that's just a badger.
I know it's up there.
I'll find it one day.
What about that one, Shan? It's not very clear.
You can still see something, though.
Yeah, you could even use it on a poster, Shan.
- Yeah.
-No, I'm done with posters.
Are you sure you're done with posters? What are you looking at, losers? "Cry babies of the moors"? I didn't cry! - Sam did! - Did not! Jimi did! - You're in trouble, Welshie.
- Is that right? The past two weeks, he thought he was the only Wolfblood in the world.
Give him some time to adjust, will you? What happened on Friday night was a serious matter, Rhydian.
You think it was me as well.
- Was it? - No, it wasn't! If you're innocent, why not say where you were? You cut that a bit fine, young lady.
We need to talk about Friday.
I need your advice.
