the training more intense ADAM: Promise me, when the moment comes, get out of yourselves enough to show it all for them.
KELLY: What is that note? I I love that you're going for that big note.
I just wanna make sure it's solid.
This is a fricking big one.
What's it gonna be? and the performances 'Cause I can't pretend DALY: some of the greatest our coaches have ever seen.
Must be love on the brain Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Your runs are like warm biscuit on a Sunday.
They are nice.
[Laughter.]
As hard as this is for me to do, here's what I'm gonna do.
Break out some Billy Idol! Do it! - Maybe you should - Start again DALY: Get ready, America We've got a double steal! the epic Season 14 battles continue right now.
[Cheers and applause.]
Going head-to-head from Team Kelly, it's the 35-year-old from L.
A.
, Amber Sauer [Cheers and applause.]
versus the 24-year-old from Dallas, Jorge Eduardo.
[Cheers and applause.]
[Whispers.]
I'm sweating.
[Chuckles.]
I paired Amber and Jorge because they're my two most passionate ones.
This is gonna be the hardest battle for me.
Like, I'm so mad about it.
AMBER: I grew up in Paradise, California, super-small country town.
For the last eight years, I've been working in Los Angeles as a background vocalist for Natalie Cole, Angie Stone, Kelly Price, but I've never fully stepped out as a complete solo artist.
The blind auditions were incredible.
I am so happy that no one could turn their chair.
[Laughter.]
I can sing pretty high, but that was damn high.
Yeah, that was That was like me on my really good day.
[Laughter.]
My team is full! [Cheers and applause.]
I moved to Los Angeles with a huge dream from a really small town.
I want to make sure that Kelly knows she made the right decision when she waited for me.
Okay.
Who we got? Who do we got? Quiero ver bailar tu pelo, quiero ser tu ritmo Yes! [Chuckles.]
It's Jorge! Jorge's voice is so powerful.
When he gets really passionate, he puts his whole entire heart in that thing.
Pasito a pasito, suave suavecito It can be a little intimidating for a singer like me, who's always in the background, to make sure that I match that.
Despacito I'm originally from Mexico Guadalajara.
I got to be in "The Voice: Mexico.
" It taught me about what being an artist is.
But I've always wanted to be in this "Voice" because this is like a whole different level.
[Cheers and applause.]
Oh, my gosh! My Oh! Somebody fan her off over there.
I'm so excited! This is a country that has a lot of Spanish-speaking people.
We need more of this on the radio.
JORGE: I moved to America two years ago with a dream.
I wanna show the world what I know how to do.
[Sighs.]
I'm in love with the shape of you We push and pull like a magnet do Amber.
I can't believe it.
I'm just super excited.
I think Amber, she has, like, this soulful voice.
your body It's that kind of voice, like, you just hear it and you just get it, because it's, like, so profound and powerful.
I was like, "Ooh, tough one.
" I'm in love with the shape of you So, what's cute about this moment is that I've actually done what you're doing, for Blake, like, on the second season of the show.
Amazing.
So my adviser is Hailee Steinfeld.
I think my artists will relate to Hailee because she represents the potential and what they can maybe achieve.
So, they're gonna be really nervous when they see you.
Oh, gosh.
Because you're, like, not only a singer, but you're, like, a movie star.
HAILEE: I was so excited when Kelly reached out.
I'm a huge fan of the show.
Would you like to meet them? Yes, I would love to.
Okay.
Okay.
- Okay.
Let's do it.
- Let's do it.
- Hey! - Hi, guys.
Oh, my God! Y'all are singing her song! Hailee! [Laughs.]
AMBER: Hailee Steinfeld is everything that every artist dreams to be movies, TV, music.
What a privilege to be able to see her in person and then sing her song for her.
[Imitates explosion.]
Have you ever heard this as a duet before? No.
No.
Okay.
No, I'm very excited.
No pressure.
Don't suck.
You know just what to say KELLY: I gave Amber and Jorge "Starving" by Hailee Steinfeld & Grey, featuring Zedd, because I thought that they would bring a lot of life to that kind of fun song.
I was so much younger yesterday "Starving," it's my song to, like, have fun.
It's light-hearted.
It's flirty.
It's sexy.
And I'm so flattered and honored that they are performing a song of my own.
I was like, "Can you guys just record this real fast so I could leave with it?" my body JORGE: Before we went to see Kelly, it just came to my mind, why shouldn't we do, like, a little spark, a little Spanish? It will be cool.
En mi cuerpo siento ya Todo lo que provocas I didn't know that I was starving Till I tasted you KELLY: Jorge, I love that he's on guitar for this.
And I love, without me even asking, he asked Amber to do a little bit of Spanish in it.
One, it was cool that she was like, "Heck, yeah," and then, two, that's a whole audience that is gonna be captivated in the fact that you cared enough to change a bit of the song.
Whoo! Yes! We just sang her song in front of her! - That is - I know.
It's amazing.
And you crushed it! Whew! Obviously, you guys have incredible chemistry, and there's connection and it's awesome.
There are certain lyrics that lend themselves to a little bit of eye contact and interaction.
I agree with what you're about to say.
Don't Don't forget to to play into the crowd.
Yes.
You both exude so much positive energy.
Make sure you're giving some of that outwards.
- Yeah.
- Use the stand, - take the mic out of the stand, and work it.
- AMBER: Yeah.
Walk arou You know, walk around him.
Yeah, if I had a cordless, I could like, you know, come around and like Okay.
Yes! I love you.
You have to do things like that in order to stick out and navigate a competition.
Amber she's got sass for days, which I love.
Jorge has a killer voice, but I think the goal for Jorge is to make this song a party.
It's about having a great voice and knowing when to show something that nobody even knew was coming.
I'm really hating that I paired you two, 'cause I want both of them.
[Laughter.]
Like, what? Kelly! I don't need to see anything else until the stage rehearsals.
MAN: Are you guys Can you hear yourselves all right? - Yeah.
- Come on! Whoo! - Hey, Kelly! - Ahh! I'm so stoked to see y'all onstage.
AMBER: Hi! It felt amazing to rehearse on the battle stage for the first time.
MAN: In 5, 4, 3, 2 Oh, yeah By the way, right away You do things to my body Damn straight! I love what you're doing.
You're going hi You're going big.
What is that note? I I love that you're going for that big note.
Mm-hmm.
I just wanna make sure it's solid.
I, I And I like how you're looking out, you're I, I Like, yeah, like you're struttin'.
I love it.
JORGE: Having Kelly at the rehearsal was really useful, because she gave us this feedback not only about the vocals, but how we moved while performing the song.
You're so different from each other, but you both bring passion and flavor.
This is my hardest decision.
Everyone knows it.
KELLY: I have paired two very compelling artists.
I'm really hoping one just, you know, obviously, stands out a little bit more than the other, you know, the night of.
- This is a fricking big one.
Yeah.
- AMBER: Yeah.
- DALY: Coming up - Till I tasted you DALY: a night of epic battles.
Must be love on the Brain DALY: And incredible coaching It is Julia Michaels, ladies and gentlemen.
- Hi! - How you doing? [Laughter.]
- Nice to meet you! - This song is sexy and raw.
What's it gonna be? 'Cause I can't pretend DALY: We've got a steal! What?! Whoo! Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Oh, my God.
This is "The Voice" DALY: Welcome back to the battles.
Let the battle begin.
You know just what to say Things that scare me I should just walk away But I can't move my feet The more that I know you, the more I want to Something inside me's changed I was so much younger yesterday Oh I didn't know that I was starving 'Til I tasted you Don't need no butterflies When you give me the whole damn zoo By the way, right away You do things to my body I didn't know that I was starving 'Til I tasted you - You know just how to make - Whoo! My heart beat faster Emotional earthquake Brings on disaster You hit me head on, got me weak in my knees Something inside me's changed I was so much younger yesterday Whoa oh-oh-oh So much younger yesterday Oh, hey I didn't know that I was starving 'Til I tasted you Don't need no butterflies When you give me the whole damn zoo En mi cuerpo siento ya Todo lo que provocas I didn't know that I was starving 'Til I tasted you Probe tu amor Oh Hey, yeah By the way, right away You do things to my body I didn't know that I was starving 'Til I tasted you Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, yeah Na na na na na na na na na na The more that I know you, the more I want to Something inside me's changed I was so much younger yesterday [Cheers and applause.]
What are you gonna do? Amber, I love your energy, Mama.
You're, like, having all this fun with the song, and you're, like, dancing around him.
For Jorge, it was cool to see the guitar and kind of hear you in a different space.
That was a cool way to start see you evolve as an artist.
So, maybe I would, for this battle, go with Jorge.
Yeah, I mean, you couldn't be more different.
Here's what really struck me.
Amber, you're you're a fantastic singer.
Thank you.
Thank you.
But, Jorge, to move around and maneuver the way that you just did, and keep playing and sing all those notes, and do a duet, I'm lamenting not having turned around now, because you are so diverse in what you do.
And I think that you're gonna go really far in this competition.
And for those reasons, I'm I'm gonna go with Jorge.
[Cheers and applause.]
Amber has this incredible voice.
She has such stage presence Thank you so much.
and such personality.
I felt like she was having the most fun.
I'll be going with Amber.
[Cheers and applause.]
DALY: Thank you, coaches.
Kelly, the decision is yours, but first, give us your thoughts.
This was my dumbest move, by far.
Hear, hear.
I maybe would [Laughter.]
I know, I know.
I mean, I know that y'all are different performers.
I did not know you played an instrument, as well, which was cool that you totally brought that into play.
And well, too.
Like, really well.
Yeah.
And Amber rose to the challenge of singing in Spanish.
I can't lose if I pick one of you, but I just lose, because I wish I could steal one of you.
I'm going with my gut on the sense that I'm curious of what will happen if I pick this next person.
And that is why I think I'm gonna DALY: Tough decision, we know, but who is the winner of this battle? Um Th-The winner of this battle is Jorge.
Jorge moves on.
KELLY: Amber and Jorge both did so well.
I think Hailee would be super stoked.
There's something intriguing to me about Jorge, somebody that's bilingual and is so inclusive with different cultures I think that's very cool.
Killer job.
I'm so excited I'm gonna have another opportunity on that stage, and it's just like everything's becoming real right now and it's just amazing.
Coaches, let me remind you, Amber is available to steal.
Amber, anything you'd like to say to your Coach Kelly? - I'm so sorry.
- It's okay.
Your energy, your spirit has spoken to me.
I love you.
I'm so grateful.
Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Amber Sauer! [Cheers and applause.]
ADAM: I didn't steal Amber.
I think I have people on my team who might compete with her too much.
I've got to be uber-picky.
And I'm waiting for greatness.
I'm gonna vomit.
That was horrible.
DALY: Stream tonight's battle songs only on Apple Music.
En mi cuerpo siento ya Todo lo que provocas DALY: Or buy them on iTunes.
This is "The Voice" DALY: Welcome back to the battle rounds.
My phone, it says "Queen Alicia," it doesn't even say "Alicia Keys.
" I like that.
What the hell does my name say? Yours says "Kelly Clarkson.
" [Laughter.]
No, it's like I didn't even get "Princess.
" I'm not even in the royal family.
You want Princess? You know what? Princess.
No, Princess sounds like a brat.
Hold on a minute.
Princess Kelly.
Let me get my Princess Kelly.
Yeah, that's good.
Princess Kelly.
I want mine to be "A whole lot of woman.
" I'm changing it.
Relax.
Come on, let's go.
DALY: Now let's check in with Adam and his adviser, Grammy award-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels.
I do love you as an artist.
That's questionable.
Well, and now you're here.
Yeah.
You can't go anywhere.
I'm not super excited that I have to spend this entire day with you, but You know what? Pretty sure by the end of the day, you'll have a different opinion.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
[Laughs.]
Let's meet Adam's battle pairing.
DAVISON: In my hometown, there's not many opportunities to become an artist.
So I'm a worship leader at my church, and as a hobby, I'm a local stylist.
Before "The Voice," I just performed at local church events and around town, so coming to the blinds was definitely frightening.
Baby, you don't know what it's like [Sighs.]
REID: So, I'm paired with Davison for the battle rounds.
Oh, man! Working with Davison is gonna be a constant challenge for me.
I consider myself, like, a rock/soul singer.
But with the God-given soul that Davison has, I've never heard somebody do the stuff that he does.
That is for real soul, man.
Before "The Voice," music had kind of been put on the back burner.
I really didn't know where I was going.
I'm full-time bartending at my father-in-law's restaurant.
It's been three years since I've been out of music.
JENA: I have seen how much music has been missing in his life, so I could not be more proud of him.
Being here at "The Voice" is a major second chance for me.
Take me to the pilot, lead me through the chamber Oh, my God.
Reid Umstattd.
He got range.
Like, stupid range.
Take me to the pilot, I am but a stranger His voice is smooth like butter, and that's a lot to have to live up to.
[Cheers and applause.]
This finna be a challenge.
- What's up, guys? - What's up?! - Hello.
- Oh, my God.
- Yes.
- How you doing? It is Julia Michaels, ladies and gentlemen.
- What's going on? Hi.
- Hi.
- May I have a hug? - Of course you can.
Oh, my God.
Hello.
DAVISON: So, Julia Michaels, she's amazing and she was just nominated for two Grammys.
Like, that's where I'm trying to get to.
I'm trying to get some Grammys.
So, it's a Rihanna tune.
It's a female song.
On paper, it doesn't necessarily make sense.
The pairing might not be what you expected.
Those kind of curve balls, like, they tell me a lot about you guys.
When we got paired together, it was like, "What the hell?" Right, we are totally opposites.
And the song, too.
You can both handle it.
I think it might make more sense than you realize once you kind of get into it.
Baby, you got me like Oh you love me It's "Love on the Brain" by Rihanna, and it pushes them both.
You'd think that Davison would be more adept in this particular song choice.
Don't quit loving me Yeah, just start loving me But actually, Reid, the second he started singing, you're not expecting that voice to come out.
You guys are both amazing.
I love the back and forth.
I'm thinking of it as, like, a Blues Brothers or, like, an R&B duo exchanging lines.
That's, to me, the magic of the pairing.
Right.
But I really need both identities to be defined.
JULIA: Yeah.
Totally.
And sing it like you're singing to someone.
Like, this song is, like, sexy and raw and emotional.
Yeah, it's real sexy.
Must be love on the brain REID: "Love on the Brain" is the ultimate yearning for somebody.
That's got me feeling this way My wife, I think she'd be so happy for me to keep going.
I'm hoping to make my wife proud.
But it does me so good and I can't get enough - Must be love on the brain - Reid, I loved.
Whoo! I was super impressed with the fact that he could flip from full to false.
That's really hard to do.
- Feels so good and I can't get enough - But Davison, his expression, he was feeling everything he was singing.
Love on the brain Davison, I love your voice.
Thank you.
A lot of people don't know how to emote what they sing and you do and I believe it and that's really powerful.
Whoa, ah REID: Davison plugs right in to whatever the emotion of the song is.
Don't quit loving me Just start loving me My biggest challenge is just to make sure that I'm being as honest as he is.
I think I'll have a fighting chance if I can do that.
ADAM: Reid, you need to feel as good as anyone that's covering this song, because you do it your own way and it really works.
You do a beautiful job, the both of you.
All right.
DAVISON: Tomorrow, I have stage rehearsal and I'm so nervous to get back in front of Adam, 'cause I'm curious to what he's gonna say this time.
DAVISON: Whoa, ah REID: Yeah, don't you quit loving me Don't stop loving me Yeah, just start loving me Yeah, yeah, yeah You both have a different type of thing to wrestle with.
Davison, yours is overall confidence.
Okay.
Reid, confidence about the song itself.
I can feel that in some of your body language.
Just humor me.
Uh, it was a little stiff with it on there.
Okay.
Let's just see how this goes.
- Okay.
- All righty.
- Right.
- Sing it to them.
Okay.
And use this space, because this is important.
Like, move around.
And, baby, I'm fist fighting with fire I'm glad that Adam was there to kind of give us a bit of a pep talk about loosening up.
Just to get close to you can we burn something, baby We've got to have fun.
I mean, we have to just go out there and have a good time.
Just to get a taste ADAM: Promise me, when the moment comes, get out of yourselves enough to show it all for them.
Must be love on the brain ADAM: This is a challenge for both of them in different ways.
But what's cool about this is, it's working.
I'm excited to see these guys go for it, man.
I think people are gonna be very surprised.
This is "The Voice" DALY: Welcome back to the battles at Universal Studios Hollywood.
- Talk to me.
- 30 seconds out.
Talk to me, Alicia.
Tell me something.
Tell me something good [Laughs.]
Tell me that you love me, yeah, yeah [Cheers and applause.]
The battle starts right now.
And you got me like oh What you want from me Yeah.
And I tried to buy your pretty heart But the price is too high Baby, you got me like oh You love when I fall apart So you can put me together Throw me against the wall, yeah Here I am, baby I'm fist fighting with fire just to get close to you Can we burn something, baby? And I run for miles just to get a taste Yeah, must be love on the brain That's got me feeling this way It beats me black and blue, but it does me so good And I can't get enough Must be love on the brain - Hey! - Whoa, whoa, whoa, ah Yeah, don't you quit loving me Don't stop loving me Just start loving me Yeah, yeah, yeah And, baby, I'm fist fighting with fire Just to get close to you Can we burn something, baby? And I walk for miles and miles just to get a taste Must be love on the brain That's got me feeling this way, yeah It beats me black and blue, but it does me so good And I can't get enough Must be love on the brain And it keeps cursing my name, yeah No matter what I do, I'm no good without you And I can't get enough Must be love on the brain Whoo! [Cheers and applause.]
ADAM: Yeah! Reid, you dipped into your falsetto - Yeah.
- and came back out of it.
That was kind of your tool throughout this performance that made me go, "Whoa, whoa, whoa," you know? And, Davison, that was so good, dude.
[Cheers and applause.]
Yeah, man.
Thank you.
BLAKE: Every time I started thinking, "Reid's running away with this," you would come back with a cool run or do something awesome.
And, man, this is really kind of split down the middle.
If I had to make a decision, I'd go with Davison.
Reid shocked me, I got to say.
He shocked me.
Davison, your runs are like warm biscuit on a Sunday.
They are nice, with, like, butter.
Just, like, like, butter drizzling off of it.
Reid, my favorite part of that song is that it's so intense and it bites quietly.
- Eh - Yeah.
And it was like, "Yes!" [Laughter.]
I know we're supposed to pick one, but I don't know what you're gonna do.
Thank you so much.
[Laughter.]
I can relate.
Um, I love the way that it was a little bit of an unexpected song for you, Reid, but, like, totally fit your vibe.
And, Davison, I just love how you were just able to own it and flow with it and just, minute you came in, it was just like, "Huh?" So it's on you, man.
- I'm not gonna - [Laughs.]
No one wants to touch it.
Thanks for Thanks for nothing, y'all.
Yeah, man.
Sor I'm sorry, man.
DALY: Thank you, coaches.
Adam, you got a tough decision to make.
Give us some thoughts before you tell us who won.
Reid, your incredible confidence and the way you proudly stand there and you could probably make any song seem like your own, Davison, that needs to rub off on you.
You'd better start believing in Davison, because it's time.
You know, it's almost as if the passion and the fire and the determination that I see when you sing should rub off on you, Reid.
This really was the right pairing, 'cause look, it worked, we did it.
For sure.
DALY: Adam, the time has come.
Who is the winner of this battle? I'm just gonna go with the person who I think surprises me every single time they sing.
And as hard as this is for me to do, the winner of this battle the winner of this battle is Reid.
[Cheers and applause.]
Reid, congratulations.
You are moving on to the knockouts.
REID: After giving up music and not knowing if I would come back, the fact that Adam believes in me is mindblowing.
- Thank you so much, man.
- Congrats.
ADAM: It was hard.
You know, Reid was just kind of more ready.
I think that, clearly, Reid can kind of do anything.
The sky's the limit.
I mean, you're doing Rihanna, "Love on the Brain," like, I'm pretty sure you got everything covered.
DALY: As the night continued, our coaches were faced with more tough decisions.
I'm head over boots for you This song It was definitely more in Bransen's zone.
It It's a country song.
But Jaron has the ability to step up to the plate, and I appreciate that kind of work ethic.
The winner of this battle is Jaron.
Jaron, congratulations.
Versace on the floor Oh Take it off for me, for me, for me, for me now, girl It's warming up Can you feel it [Cheers and applause.]
With Johnny, you have this phenomenal voice and a huge personality.
The winner of this battle is Johnny Bliss.
DALY: Johnny Bliss, congratulations! Will you still love me Tomorrow [Cheers and applause.]
I have to realize in the knockouts who's gonna be able to hold their ground against the other people on my team.
So, the winner of this battle is Jamella.
[Cheers and applause.]
Jamella, congratulations! This is "The Voice" DALY: Welcome back to the battles.
Who you talking to? What are you doing, huh? God, these are so heavy.
Oh, my my ears hurt.
Oh, the yeah.
They're heavy.
That does look heavy.
First-world problems.
Heavy earrings.
[Laughs.]
DALY: Now let's check in with Alicia and her adviser, chart-topping pop sensation, Shawn Mendes.
How are you feeling about this whole thing? I'm excited.
That's good.
And it's fun.
The team is sick.
Yeah.
I mean, dare I say that I feel really confident that I have You've got the best team? Mm-hmm.
I mean, I'm trying to be on the best team, so there you go.
Mm-hmm.
So, you did the right thing.
DALY: Let's meet Alicia's battle pairing, Jordyn Simone and Kelsea Johnson.
I'm so excited.
Dude! We're about to kill it.
No, I'm so ready.
It's gonna be amazing! [Both laugh.]
Okay, let's go, let's go.
I can't wait.
JORDYN: I'm 17 years old, and I'm about to graduate.
I go to L.
A.
County High School for the Arts.
I focus on music, specifically jazz and gospel, and take classes in musical theater, as well.
You're as sweet As strawberry wine It struck me right in my heart.
I loved the way you mixed worlds country and blues and soul.
Yay, Jordyn! "The Voice" is the biggest opportunity I've ever had.
This is what I've been studying in school my entire life.
It's really a dream come true.
KELSEA: I've always loved to sing.
My grandfather, Papá, was part of a Mariachi band.
In October, Papá was diagnosed with liver cancer.
I made it to the blind auditions.
But I started to second-guess if I even wanted to come.
[Voice breaking.]
Even in the hospital, he kept saying, "Don't change your plans.
Just go.
" [Normal voice.]
My grandfather passed away, but Papá wanted me to pursue my singing career.
[Sighs.]
I miss him so much.
So I'm gonna love you Like I'm gonna lose you You have a gift, and you have a reason why you were given that gift.
Mm-hmm.
I believe we could win "The Voice" together.
- I pick Alicia.
- Come on, baby! KELSEA: I completely just was elated that Alicia liked my voice enough to put me on her team that's only limited to 12 people.
[Both gasp.]
Jordyn and Kelsea! I'm dead! - How you doing? - Hi! Hi, nice to meet you! I'm a huge fan.
JORDYN: Alicia's already one thing, but Shawn Mendes, too, it's like I fangirled and just freaked out.
Don't be nervous.
I promise.
Oh, Shawn.
- You guys are cool.
- Easier said than done! I know.
[Laughter.]
JORDYN: I think he's an amazing performer, so to be face-to-face with him, I was excited, but I was also very intimidated.
This song is amazing! - You love it?! - Yes! [Cheering.]
How did you think of it?! Jordyn and Kelsea are singing "Don't Let Go" by En Vogue.
What's it gonna be? ALICIA: Jordyn and Kelsea have similar voices, but when you start to listen to them, you see just how different they are.
Kelsea, her energy and her style is very standout.
Jordyn, she's only 17, but her voice, it really comes through and it shoots out at you and it's powerful.
I often tell myself that SHAWN: Jordyn had this confidence, like a full-grown woman kind of come out of her, which is very rare and impressive.
- When you're not around - Hey! The second Kelsea started singing, I felt like, "Oh, my God, who is this girl?" 'Til we're taking those vows There'll be some love makin', heart breakin' I need her album.
She needs to be a megastar.
- Hey! - Soul shakin' love Love makin', heart breakin', soul shakin' I think they're both stars, truly.
They are so good.
They could be the best performance of the night.
- Hey! - Yes! I see why y'all love it so much.
It really fits both of you, and you can hear your individuality.
Yeah.
But I need y'all to dial it down volume-wise 50%.
And by the time you get to the end, - you may be back at 100%.
- SHAWN: Mm-hmm.
Okay.
We have to create the dynamic.
Yeah, make sure there's room to grow, 'cause it's not always about how loud and aggressive you're singing it, just about the feeling in it.
That thing where you're like What's it gonna be? Yeah, what are you doing? You know what I mean? [Laughter.]
What's it gonna be? - Exactly.
- Especially on that variant.
What's it gonna be? Yeah.
It's like, "Right now, if you don't tell me, - I'm out of here," you know? - Yeah, exactly.
Don't you wanna be More than friends? JORDYN: I've taken a hundred master classes at my school, but nothing compares to having Alicia Keys, in the flesh, bringing out the best in me as an artist.
I'm gonna work hard, and I'm gonna make this the best battle ever.
Don't let go You got to respect this song, because it is one of those things that could literally be the best thing we ever heard or a train wreck.
[Laughs.]
You got to decide, are we gonna go What's it gonna be? - Are we doing that together? - Yeah.
And whatever it is you're doing, you both have to execute it beautifully.
- Do it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
- Yeah.
ALICIA: They both have magnificent voices.
It's already almost impossible to choose.
I'll be there at y'all rehearsal, - so I'll be able to vibe with you.
- Okay.
Great.
Good.
But whoever puts the work in and really shows me that they evolved from this point the most, I think, will win this battle.
What's it gonna be? Rehearsing on the battle stage was so fun.
Alicia She hasn't heard us since our absolute first rehearsal, so I'm just very excited.
The song has a little lioness kind of swaggy thing to it that could be milked.
We changed a few staging things Don't you wanna be more than friends? so that I can get a sense of each one, separately, for more time.
Don't let go KELSEA: Alicia said in our last practice, we weren't giving ourselves room to build.
So this eliminated that completely.
What's it gonna be? 'Cause I can't pretend ALICIA: This rehearsal was excellent.
Don't you wanna be? ALICIA: But I can tell, Kelsea, particular, her voice is starting to get real sore, and she could lose her voice.
Eat dinner, go to bed.
Don't talk.
[Laughter.]
Exactly.
DALY: Coming up What's it gonna be? the final battle of the night Yes! I'm back in the game! has our coaches in a battle of their own.
- I feel like he said - white wedding What's it gonna be? Maybe you should Start again [Laughter.]
This is "The Voice" DALY: Welcome back to the battles.
[Cheers and applause.]
We got some energy.
Yes.
Whoo! This battle begins right now.
What's it gonna be? 'Cause I can't pretend Don't you wanna be More than friends? Hold me tight and don't let go Don't let go You have the right to lose control Don't let go I often tell myself that we can be more than friends I know you think that if we move too soon It would all end I live in misery when you're not around Ah, and I won't be satisfied 'Til we're taking those vows There'll be some love makin', heart breakin' Soul shakin' love Love makin', heart breakin', soul shakin' What's it gonna be? 'Cause I can't pretend Don't you wanna be More than friends? Hold me tight and don't let go Don't let go You have the right to lose control Don't let go Runnin' in and out my life Has got me so confused You gotta make the sacrifice Somebody's gotta choose We can make it if we try For the sake of you and I Together we can make it We can make it right What's it gonna be? 'Cause I can't pretend Don't you wanna be More than friends? Hold me tight Don't let go You have the right to lose control Don't let go What's it gonna be? [Cheers and applause.]
Whoo! ADAM: Yeah! What a perfect message for Alicia Keys.
What's it gonna be? [Laughter.]
When I hear Kelsea, I hear a lot of Alicia, a lot of the inspiration.
There's something about the spirit of your singing that is connected to Alicia.
Jordyn, your power, your overall confidence level for a 17 year old I was, like, a disaster when I was 17.
- He's kind of still a disaster.
- I'm look at me, still, I still don't know what I'm what's going on.
I would probably go with Jordyn, but, uh, you're both phenomenal.
- Thank you.
- Thank you so much.
BLAKE: You know, I feel like that performance was pretty evenly matched.
For me, it comes down to tone.
Kelsea's got that scratchy, sultry thing to her voice.
Hmm.
I love it, so, for me - Thank you.
- I'd probably pick Kelsea.
KELLY: Both of y'all are really young, and to have your tone, Kelsea, that's insane for a 22 year old.
Thank you.
Your voice sounds so lived in.
And to have the power that you have Thank you.
This is a hard one.
I would have to say I might go with Kelsea.
But you're both rad.
[Cheers and applause.]
DALY: Thank you, coaches.
Alicia? Jordyn, I'm really impressed with your performance.
Thank you.
I felt like you really came out here to give it all.
And, Kelsea, I know that you've been dealing with the difficulties of what it takes to sing long, long hours.
You're so excited you can't sleep, and, you know, it's all these things.
Like, you wish you could shut your mind down.
That happens to all of us.
Doesn't happen to Blake, though.
[Laughter.]
- What'd he say? - I don't know.
- I feel like he said - white wedding but I'm not sure.
I couldn't hear it.
[Laughter.]
That's exactly my point.
- Nice day for a - Sorry.
ALICIA: Kelsea, I was saying that you also handled it with tremendous grace.
Tough one for you, Alicia.
Who is the winner of this battle? The winner of this battle is Kelsea.
[Cheers and applause.]
Kelsea, congratulations, you are moving on to the knockouts! ALICIA: I really thought Jordyn stood out so much, but Kelsea, she has something really, really special.
Her voice has a warmth, a gravel.
I had to go with Kelsea.
KELSEA: I'm freaking out.
I'm so excited! I can't believe she picked me! I'm going to the knockouts! Coaches, let me remind you, Jordyn is available to steal.
Jordyn, what would you like to say to your coach? I just want to say thank you so much.
I really appreciate all of the support, advice, critique that you've given me thus far.
We've got a steal! What?! Whoo! Two! Yes! We've got a double steal! Wow! Well, Jordyn, you know, I paved the way.
Some lead, others follow.
- Oh, my God.
- Oh, wow.
Oh, my God.
And by the way, I also said, decisively - You did.
- before she chose, that I would go with you.
I only have one more steal left, and I choose you for that.
Even if you don't pick me this time, I look forward to stealing you later on, because I do think Go, Kelly, go for it! Fight harder! You are Kelly Clarkson! I am Kelly Clarkson.
- Act like it! - Come on, Kelly! Whoo! I just want to say, maybe I didn't turn around at the blind auditions Neither one of y'all turned around for her! Oh, you didn't turn around for her? I didn't turn around, but I also didn't lie.
He didn't turn around, either! [Laughter.]
Oh, my gosh! Yes! I'm back in the game! [Cheers and applause.]
I'm just saying.
Hold up, hold up.
I won a competition, girl.
19 I was similar to your age.
Da-da-da.
Look, okay, there's a lot that just happened.
What's it gonna be? [Cheers and applause.]
Can you sing some En Vogue? I'm just saying.
Break out some Billy Idol, do it, but I got En Vogue, I'm just saying.
Maybe you should start again [Laughter.]
Let the man speak.
I pressed my button for you before anybody else had, namely Kelly Clarkson.
And I also did choose you as the winner of this battle round.
You got to remember that.
Jordyn, it is all up to you.
After all of that, who do you pick as your new coach? [Audience shouting.]
I pick Adam.
- Yeah! - Adam steals - Yeah, Adam! - Jordyn Simone away from Alicia Keys! I stole Jordyn because she was really just as good.
I think she's just 17, so she just needs some work, but she's motivated and she's talented.
I love her spunk, and her energy's great.
Jordyn deserved a shot.
JORDYN: I specifically picked Adam because he thought that I won the battle between me and Kelsea.
[Chuckles.]
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
We're both wearing leather.
Right! Okay! We're both looking fly.
Agreed.
We're both looking good on TV right now.
We were meant to be.
[Laughs.]
I'm so proud.
- Thank you so much.
- I gotcha!
