Back with the Ex (2018) s01e04 Episode Script

Episode 4

1
[narrator] Back with the Ex.
[chuckles]
[Cam] Go on. You know you want to.
Stop.
[Cam] That's awesome.
-[Kate imitates swooshing]
-[Cam] Don't touch me.
Bugger off. I don't want
I do not want to be near you today.
-Oh, don't you?
-Nope.
-Well, too bad.
-Look at you.
You're stuck with me.
Erik slept on the lounge.
I offered to sleep in the lounge,
because he didn't have a good night sleep
the night before, but
he let me sleep in the bed again, so
Um, yeah, here I am. He's not there.
As you can see.
My mind's just ticking about
a lot of things at the moment, so
[inhales deeply] I'll see
what today brings. All right, see you.
[narrator] Erik and Lauren were together
for six years before they split up.
That was six years ago.
During the time apart,
Erik has realized that he should have been
more caring with his ex, Lauren.
Today, he's planned a surprise
to try and win her over.
Date nights
in our previous relationship
Uh, I was very set in my ways.
In hindsight
I should have done something
a little bit more fancier to impress her.
[footsteps approaching]
[laughs] Oh, my God.
I love Ferraris!
[engine revving]
[Erik] The girls tend to heat up
around Ferraris.
[laughs] Are you serious?
I'm pretty sure
I'm going to have a win on this one.
Oh, you look very handsome, Erik.
I feel more excited. Thank you.
-They're my favorite flowers.
-I remembered.
They smell really nice. Thanks.
The last few days have been rough,
and I just wanted to try
and do something nice.
Thank you.
I am impressed.
He's gone to a lot of effort,
and I'm appreciating it.
It's really sweet.
Lauren's favorite guy.
Lauren's favorite flowers,
Lauren's favorite sports car.
[camera clicks]
[engine revving]
[screams and giggles] Oh, my God!
-It's scary, but it's so, like
-[laughs]
I love it.
-Adrenaline pumping, eh?
-Yeah.
[Erik] This is the new Erik.
-Is it?
-This is the new Erik.
Okay. Well, I'm very impressed.
-You're very impressed?
-Very impressed.
[chuckles]
Today, he's just really made it
all about me.
I put in so much effort
into our relationship,
and to get it back, finally,
it's a good feeling.
You know, I've had a life without you now,
and I'm still getting used
to being back here,
and you have to adjust as well.
-Yeah, of course. Of course.
-Yeah. [chuckles]
[Erik] It's taken me 11 years,
but I think I've finally got, uh
right on track.
-You're getting on track, yep.
-Slowly but surely.
We're both getting back on track.
Well, that's good. That's good.
So, that being said
do you think there's a chance for us
as a couple, a relationship?
Right now and, you know,
the last couple of days,
I'm feeling more positive.
I wasn't at first,
um, but I am actually feeling
a lot more relaxed with you
and I think there could be a real chance.
-Cheers.
-To a great day.
And getting back on track.
I'm seeing a change in Erik.
He is listening to me,
he's giving me all his attention,
and I feel he's interested
in what I have to say.
It's definitely not the guy I'm used to.
-I'm still bossy, you're just happier.
-That's okay.
You can boss me around
as much as you like in bed.
[narrator] Peter and Diane have rekindled
their relationship after 28 years apart.
After reuniting last week,
they have now moved into Peter's house
in the Southern Highlands
of New South Wales.
[both laughing]
[narrator] Today, Diane's taken control
and has Peter hitting the shops.
I have a little surprise for Peter.
I'm taking him somewhere special.
Somewhere that's gonna be
a present for both of us. [chuckles]
So I thought we could put something
a little more sexy on me
and see if that just gets you
running a little hotter.
[Peter] Traditionally,
it's probably not a shop
I would walk into on my own,
that's for sure.
I'm feeling a little bit out of place,
and I haven't bought a bra and panties
for a woman in a long time.
Oh, what about this?
No. [chuckles]
[Peter] No? Oh, I like that.
[chuckles] You want to try it on?
I think you should try it on.
Ugh!
Diane didn't react that well
to what I'd suggested.
When I think of lingerie,
this is kind of what I've got in mind.
[Diane chuckles]
And you could definitely
get away with this, no
-Oh, wow. I like it.
-Is that what you want me in?
[Peter] Especially the back. Yeah.
[laughs] I think it's nice.
It's kind of sexy.
I really didn't give him any input.
He was sweet.
It was nice having him there.
At the end of the day,
things are pretty good.
They are better than good.
I think I'm going to make it
a surprise for you.
While Diane readily admits
that she likes being in control,
she also says that she wants me
to stand up and also take control.
I'm just still struggling
as to when those are the right times,
because, at the moment, I don't know.
[laughs]
Maybe we can work
You know what we could do?
Work our way up to this.
How about it? [laughs]
You could get away with that right now.
Easily.
No, I didn't really mind
what she'd bought,
because I assumed, eventually,
when it's on, it'd come off. [guffaws]
Ooh.
[narrator] In Brisbane, Kate is taking Cam
out to relive their first date.
She's still trying to rebuild his trust
after she cheated on him three years ago.
[Kate] It's a really hard situation.
So I know that he wants to trust me,
and I know that he wants this to work,
and so do I, but at this point
we don't really know how to.
It's so nice to be able to
go on dates with you again.
Just doing fun stuff, you know?
Yeah, this is taking us back.
-Mmm.
-Get to meet the new Kate.
I'm the same. So are you.
A little bit changed.
All in all, everything is going
really, really fantastic with Kate.
I'm actually loving every minute of it.
But there's still big trust issues
in the back of my head.
I don't know if I'd be able to,
like, you know,
bring these walls down
that I've built up over time.
[Kate chuckles]
-"That's sweet"?
-No, I do mean it. It's really sweet
-Oh!
-[both laugh]
Okay, that's fine.
You get me back. That's fair. That's fair.
It really just feels like old times again,
so I think it's going well.
Um, I'm hoping he's feeling
the same way about it.
-You cute thing.
-Ooh.
-"Ooh."
-Was that a compliment?
That was.
Was that my first compliment to you?
-I think so. [laughs]
-Wow.
[narrator] In Sydney's south,
Meg is returning home to her ex, Jeremy.
-Hey.
-[Jeremy] You're back.
[Meg chuckles] I'm back.
[narrator] After a friend's gathering
turned sour
-The way I see it--
-[Meg] I'm the devil.
-Yeah, yeah. You're the bad one.
-[Meg] I'm the devil, and he's an angel.
[narrator] Meg walked out,
leaving Jeremy questioning their future.
[Meg] I'm gonna go sit by myself.
[Jeremy] I just can't stand it
when you walk away from me.
I wasn't walking away from you,
and I think that's what you don't get.
You just shut me out, but
And then when I try
and come and talk to you
I'm the bad person.
-"Don't touch me. Don't sit next to me."
-You weren't the bad person.
-I couldn't even talk to you.
-I needed time to reflect. I needed time--
You need a lot of time, don't you?
What do you want me to do? Why
I don't want you to do anything.
-I want you to be you
-is it so difficult?
and I'm gonna be me, and
-this is us.
-But if you're walking away from me
all the time, then it's not what I want.
No. Well, I can't
I can't be what you want, then.
So what do you want me to do?
I want us to sort of change a little
and not have these fighting moments.
I sort of just want to work it out.
I wasn't expecting it.
I was expecting to feel good.
I was expecting to feel as good
as I've felt the last couple of days.
And guess what? The last couple of days
that I've sat around with you,
I've felt brilliant.
I've been having so much fun.
And
I just didn't expect people to psych me
as much as what they did.
I think, like, all the boys
were a little bit hard on Meg.
And I overreacted a little bit.
I needed to give her some time.
I guess she she just needed space.
-[Meg chuckles]
-[Jeremy sighs]
This is romance.
You okay?
Bump it. [laughs]
I stuck it through because I know
that I want him in my life
and I know that I want to make this work.
Right. I think we can make this work, Meg.
We've just got a lot of shit to work on.
[narrator] The women
will head for a night out
while the men will get together
at a local pub.
[Cam] I'm really excited
to meet the other guys.
I want to hear their stories.
I want to know who reached out to who.
I just want to know.
I want to know why they're here.
[Jeremy] Tonight, I'm going
to meet the other boys.
I'm a little bit worried about, like,
them judging our relationship.
I don't want people to think
that we fight all the time.
-Hey, mate.
-How are ya?
-How you going? Jeremy.
-Cameron. Nice to meet you.
-Nice to meet ya. Long day?
-It's been a long week.
-And you?
-[chuckles] Yeah. I know. Yeah, very long.
Yeah, so how's it all going for you?
Um Yeah, all right.
There's been ups and downs.
-Oh, tell me about it.
-[both laugh]
-Yeah, it's all different, man.
-[sighs] Yeah.
-How old are you?
-Twenty-six.
-Twenty-six?
-How old are you?
Twenty-five this year. Yeah, I look
like a 16-year-old, but that's all right.
Instantly, I got a good feeling about him.
I just feel like I can relate to him.
You know, we just started
chatting straightaway about everything.
[both laughing]
[Erik] I want to meet these other guys
to hear their story.
Everyone's got their own battles.
And as much as I'm fighting my own,
I'm pretty sure they're
doing the same as well.
-[Erik] Hey, boys.
-Hey, mate.
-[Erik] How are you?
-Hi. Jeremy.
-Erik.
-Nice to meet ya.
-Cameron. Nice to meet ya.
-Nice to meet ya.
How's it going?
These two kids are not what I expected
to be sitting down having a yarn with.
So yeah.
-So how have you guys been?
-Good.
-[Erik] Traveling well?
-[Jeremy] Yeah.
Up and down, I reckon.
There's been awkward moments
here and there, yeah.
[laughs] And you?
I've got a bit of a weird vibe to the guy.
He just looks like your typical
"bruv" guy, you know?
He just seems untrustworthy.
-Hey, mate.
-[Peter] Hey, guys.
-How are ya?
-[Peter] How are you?
-Erik.
-[Peter] Erik.
-Jeremy.
-Hi, Jeremy.
-How are you?
-Cameron. Nice to meet you.
Cameron. So, Cameron, Jeremy and
-Erik.
-[Peter] Erik.
-Yep.
-Well
Pete's probably one of the most
fittest guys I've seen for a pensioner.
Cheers, guys. Great to meet you.
He obviously lifts.
The other two don't. [laughs]
What's your girl's name?
Lauren. Tiger.
-Yours?
-Diane.
-[Cam] Yours?
-Meg.
Kate.
Okay, show us a photo.
I'm not showing you a photo.
Do you want me to show you a photo?
I'll show you a photo.
No, no, no. He doesn't have to because--
Even I've got a photo. Come on.
-Can't show you that one. Whoops.
-You can't show us that one?
Here, look.
This is the first time she smiled.
What do you mean "first time she smiled"?
-Can I have a glimpse, Erik?
-Since, you know Since we, uh
-[Peter] Oh, wow.
-[Cam] She's very good-looking.
She's a very good-looking girl.
[Jeremy] It just sort of freaked me out.
It was like a competition to see whose
who was better.
Like, "Oh, yeah, look how hot
the chick is I'm dating."
[narrator] Across town,
the women are also meeting up
to share their stories.
-Hi. I'm Meg.
-Lauren. How are you?
So nice to meet you.
-Are you okay? You doing good?
-Yeah, yeah, I'm good. How about you?
-Uh Adjusting. Adjusting. Doing well.
-Yeah. Yeah.
Mmm-hmm.
Meg is really pretty,
and she looks like a lot of fun.
She's definitely someone
that I think that I will get along with.
-[Meg] Hello, my lovely.
-[Kate] Hi!
-I'm Meg.
-Meg, I'm Kate.
[both laughing]
-Hiya.
-Hey. I'm Lauren.
-How are you?
-I'm Kate. Nice to meet you.
-Nice to meet you as well.
-How are you guys?
-[Meg] Good. And you?
-[Kate] Yeah, good, good.
So where are you both from?
-[Lauren] Um, Sydney.
-Sydney.
-Yep. I'm Brisbane.
-Whereabouts?
-Um Do you know Brisbane very well?
-No.
No? You're not gonna know.
Brisbane works. Brisbane works.
So who are your exes?
I'll get to the point straight away,
'cause I'm really eager to find out.
Oh, my goodness.
You're gonna freak me out.
Don't be nervous. Don't be nervous.
-This is social. Don't be nervous.
-[Meg laughs]
[Meg] Kate was very full-on.
She's powerful and straight into it,
and I was like, "Oh, my God.
Who have I got here?"
Hi!
-I'm Kate. Nice to meet you.
-Nice to meet you, Kate.
-Hi.
-Hi. I'm Lauren.
Lauren, I'm Diane. Nice to meet you.
Wow. Here comes Diane.
Look out, she looks
like she's on the prowl. Um
She looks amazing, and
Yeah, I'm liking the vibe
I'm getting from her.
So tell us about you.
Me? Me, me, me, me. No, you guys first.
-Okay.
-[all laugh]
So my ex is Cam,
and we have been separated now
for three-on years.
And we met when we were in high school.
We sort of became more friends
than what we did,
sort of, romantic, like, lovers,
I would say. And then, um
I actually One night
when I was, um, out and about,
I actually cheated on Cam. Um, which
It's a big thing to admit.
Yeah, I regretted it
from the second after I did it. So
Um, that's really stuck with me, and
um, after that, I think, the trust was,
sort of, a little bit lost,
and I think, he was questioning
whether or not I was interested still.
So I guess this is just me
trying to put myself out there
to move forward.
Why are you doing this
if there was already something missing
in the first time in your relationship
that you slept with somebody else?
What does that say?
Do you question why you cheated, though?
Was there something lacking
in the relationship
-Well, that's exactly
-that caused you to
-Well, that's--
-go elsewhere?
Exactly. I think it's just about seeing
what happens really.
[Diane] She likes the companionship.
She likes the friendship.
I don't mean to be so opinionated, but
Ugh! I just go, "Kate! Kate!
Find someone that's got a little mojo."
In all honesty,
how far have you guys gone so far?
-Nowhere.
-[Peter laughs]
-Hang on. How are you going?
-Oh, no. Young guy first.
-No, no. I asked the question.
-Fight, fight, fight.
This is gonna sound so weird
coming from the "young gun,"
but I'm taking it slow.
-[Peter] So why are you holding back now?
-Because I like that.
Okay. If you're taking it slow,
is it pissing her off?
-Is it pissing her No, not at all.
-Seriously?
[Cam] Erik. Where do I start with Erik?
He was just He just seemed like a tool.
[narrator] It's their night out,
and the women are still finding out
about each other's exes.
I want to hear more about your guy.
[Meg] I, um
I really don't have much to say
about Jeremy. I adore him.
I absolutely adore him
down to the maximum.
He is a beautiful person, and he
-What's beautiful about him?
-He aggravates me, and he
um Makes me happy,
and he makes me laugh,
and he's everything
from high to low to medium to
Everything you want in a relationship.
And he's he's him. He's real.
I think we've got a lot to overcome,
and I know there's a lot of hurdles.
Have you been staying together?
Me and Jeremy have Obviously,
we've stayed at each other's house.
-I've stayed at Jeremy's at this point.
-Mmm-hmm. Yep.
And, um
-And we've kissed, and [gibbering]
-[Diane and Lauren laughing]
I don’t know what to say about that. Yep.
And um
-And, uh--
-And things are feeling right?
[laughs] You might as well speak for me.
I might as well just move my mouth, and
[Meg] I think because where I'm at,
it's really hard to talk
about my relationship,
and she was straight into it.
She's just a little kid.
Do you think he's the one?
Um
Oh, that's a really
You're shooting 'em at me. Pew, pew, pew.
-[all laugh]
-I'm so nosy.
You are very nosy.
Um I
I adore Jeremy.
I've never adored anybody
Oh, my
People are going to fucking kill me.
Be honest.
[Lauren] I feel like, at this stage,
Meg's just shutting down.
I feel that she is just not
in a good place.
Um, she's maybe not having a good time
in her relationship at the moment.
I have nothing to say
about that situation. I don't.
It's uncomfortable for me. And, um
I Yes [gibbers]
She seemed like she had
a lot of problems relationship-wise.
-Cheers.
-Cheers to that.
[narrator] Back at the pub,
Meg's ex, Jeremy, isn't having
as much trouble opening up.
I'm gonna get into a lot of trouble
for saying this, but we've had sex once
and it was really good. [chuckles]
What are you looking at me for?
-Come on, more detail.
-Well done, mate. That's awesome.
Why would you get into trouble?
I bet she's saying worse.
It was in the shower.
So we went from the shower
to the hand basin,
and the whole thing fell off the wall.
Oh, come on. Okay.
And we were sort of together,
and it was really good for a while,
and then it started to get a bit bumpy.
And then I called it quits,
and I moved to London.
I never realized how much it hurt her
that I left.
Did you run?
-Um
-Yes. You hesitated. You ran.
Yeah, kind of.
Do you really want her for the rest
of your life? You think she's the one?
Um
Come on, you got to be honest.
Totally honest.
I adore her. Like, I think she is perfect.
She is amazing.
-She's so good-looking
-There's a "but."
-[Cam] There's a "but" in that.
-There's a "but."
-There is a "but."
-[Peter] What is the "but"?
The "but" is that we
struggle to get along.
-That's a major "but."
-[Jeremy] Like, it's not It's not
That's something
that can be worked on, though.
You can work on that. I know that.
We've had a lot of drama.
I've learned you don't have
the rest of your life to look.
I'm deadly serious.
You've just sometimes got to just make
a commitment and just go for it.
I honestly don't hold high hopes
for their future together.
Yeah, my story is pretty
To be blunt with you, it's a fairy tale.
I haven't seen my ex for 28 years.
Wow.
Our relationship was completely sexual
when we first met
It never stopped, but
I truly believe after all these years
that that initial heartfelt desire
-No, wait. Just skip to the good part.
-Okay. It never goes.
-It doesn't go away.
-[laughs]
These boys are like, "Dude. Dude, just
fast forward, mate."
You're beating around the bush.
Where did it happen and how did it happen?
-Details.
-It was actually
She came back to my home.
The minute that bedroom door shut,
it was full-on. It was all on. Absolutely.
It was 26 years of build-up.
It was like we were 28 and 20 again.
It was unbelievable.
I didn't think I was capable
of that anymore, but clearly I am.
-Still works. Good on ya. Whoo-hoo.
-And it's really good for me.
Here we are.
This is us when we were 20 and 27.
-Oh, get out.
-[Lauren] Let me see.
-What do you think?
-You still look exactly the same.
[Diane] Do you think?
-[Kate] Oh my, gosh, wow.
-[Lauren] You do!
[laughs] You think?
-Nothing's really changed.
-Oh, I love it.
[Diane] I was 20, and he was 27.
-Wow.
-You were 20 years old?
-Yes.
-He's cute, isn't he?
And it's been 28 years
since I have seen my ex.
-Twenty-eight? Oh, goodness.
-Mmm-hmm.
-No!
-[Diane] I know, yeah.
[Meg] My mind was blown, and I was like,
"Wow, that is love."
What she has done is brave.
My walls are still up
compared to what she's done.
What I remember the most about him
was his broad shoulders.
He had enormous broad shoulders.
He does a lot of bodybuilding
and weight training and
-What could have been--
-He's still got it?
-He did. Yeah, I know.
-[Meg laughing]
He's a sweet, kind,
big-hearted, big Aussie.
I'm feeling really jealous right now.
We were very passionate.
So you guys have, like,
got intimate already?
-Yeah.
-Really? Already?
Yeah, well, that was
what our spark was early on.
Now I'm feeling really weird here.
Life is like, "Bring it on.
Don't waste any time."
[Diane] And we're exploring new things.
We're different people
than we were when we were young.
-I say go for it.
-Yes! I know!
I want that, but I'm not feeling it.
Are you feeling it? Or you're just
I am. You know what,
at the end of the day,
he's really showing me
what his intentions are.
-Okay.
-And he is constantly reassuring me that,
you know, he wants the whole thing.
-And so
-Well, there you go.
It's a beautiful story.
The way she talks about Peter,
um, she seems very in love.
I definitely think they're soulmates,
and that's something I've always wanted.
[Erik] Fill it up again?
-No, I'm No.
-[Jeremy chuckles]
-If you want me to sit at the table--
-We've got to hear your story first.
-Are you from Sydney?
-Yeah, I'm a Sydney boy. Yeah, um
My story goes, about 11 years ago,
roughly, we met. She chased me.
I was just a workaholic.
60 to 80 hours a week.
My life was structured, and I'd train,
like, anywhere from
four to six hours a day.
So if that schedule actually broke
or someone messed with it,
I'd instantly get pissed off with it.
And here's this girl
who just wanted to spend time with me.
And I just couldn't give her that
What she wanted.
In hindsight, now,
I just go, "I was an absolute dick."
-Right.
-And she knows I was.
But she just put up with it,
'cause she didn't want to piss me off.
-Why?
-She was like
She bent over backwards.
She did pretty much everything.
She was wifey material.
And over that six and a half years
we were together,
I broke up with her at least once a year.
She was just there as an option.
-She wasn't actually
-[Cam] An option? Oh.
It was a Sunday night thing.
He did shock me a lot.
Who schedules in their girlfriend?
Who honestly does that?
-[Kate] How's it going so far?
-Erik and I have not had sex.
And sex for us
was really weird, because
we were together for six years.
In the whole time,
we had sex probably six times.
So
-In six years?
-Yeah.
Does not sound
like a healthy relationship.
[Lauren] Yeah.
And you didn't date anybody
during that time except for him?
No, only him. I never cheated.
I was very patient,
and I love being intimate.
Like, I love passion and
But, my girlfriends think it's crazy,
but that's what happened.
And I just did anything
that he wanted to me to.
How do you mean that?
He would not have sex with me
unless I cut my hair.
-[Diane] You cut your hair for him?
-Yep. I chopped it all off.
[Diane] He asked you to,
and you just cut it off?
Yep, he was gonna break up with me
if I didn't cut my hair.
-Were you in love with him, Lauren?
-I was.
-I was always trying to make him love me.
-But did you love him?
-Yeah, I did. Like, a hundred percent.
-Okay.
I haven't experienced that type
of meaningful love with anyone else.
I just got used to not being intimate.
-Like, not having sex.
-It's a long time to wait.
I hear her story, and I just cringed.
He was controlling.
He was trying to change her.
She didn't describe anything
that made me feel like he loved her.
See, he wanted me to get
breast implants as well and--
-[Meg] Oh, that's fucked.
-It is.
-[Meg laughing] I'm sorry.
-He gave me a birthday card once.
You know, he gave me money in the card,
and he's like, "Oh, this is
to get your breasts done."
Makes me so angry thinking about him.
I get really amped up.
I don't know if I could be calm
if I met him, to be honest.
It sounds like he doesn't treat you
nearly as well as what he should,
and he doesn't appreciate you
nearly as much as
-what you need to be appreciated.
-[Diane] We want you to be appreciated.
[Meg] It made me look at mine
and Jeremy's situation and think,
"Shit, I have it I have it good.
I have it really good.
Jeremy, like, you are amazing."
He sounds like an absolute piece of work.
-I would love to have a word with him.
-He's lovely.
He's got a really big heart.
He's a great guy,
but he's very image-conscious.
-Yeah, don't defend him.
-If you meet him, like, you'll see.
He's very, like
He sounds like an absolute wanker.
I'm not gonna even lie.
-He honestly does.
-He's not a wanker.
-He's a great guy, but he's very
-He's making you feel uncomfortable.
He's making you feel self-conscious.
[Diane] She has to figure that out
for herself, not repeat
Yep.
He sounds
like a narcissistic pig.
Really, if I can
That's probably the most polite
way I could put it.
It's just gonna take time, I think.
And how have you changed
since you were with him?
-I have a voice.
-Ah.
I found my voice. I
Yeah, I feel like,
"You have to work for me now."
-A hundred percent.
-You deserve nothing but happiness,
and if he can't give that to you,
and he can't give you
-Yep.
-You feel uncomfortable, then
-Yep.
-that is not worth your time.
-I'm not changing my boobs for anyone.
-Good on you.
-Yeah, cheers!
-[Meg] Girl power!
[Lauren] Girl power.
This evening has been amazing.
Speaking to the girls has definitely, um,
made me realize that I do have every right
to feel like I need to question Erik.
And I feel like I really need to drive
it home to him that he needs to change.
The girls have validated that for me.
The way Erik treated me was not normal.
So I'm feeling more confident now
to let Erik know that I won't be accepting
the way he was before.
[narrator] Back at the local,
Erik is talking about
the birthday gift he gave to Lauren.
Um, and the titties
was just like a, you know,
a stupid little thing
that I would joke about.
-But I think--
-You were serious.
-No, it was never enforced or--
-You thought it was something she wanted?
No, it was like, you know
You know, "It'll be cool.
Like, I'll support you, but you don't
It's not as if you have to get 'em,
I want you to get 'em or anything."
Did she want to get 'em?
[stammers] No, she ultimately didn't
want to get 'em.
All these years she's been,
like, harboring that as, like,
I was obsessed about her
getting her breasts done.
You pressed the wrong button
big-time, mate.
Exactly. Exactly right.
I would never ask my girlfriend
to get fake tits. Ever.
That wouldn't even be
in an agenda in my mind.
I think Keira Knightley is one
of the most attractive girls in the world,
and she's flat-chested.
It's about the person that is there.
I don't understand fake tits or botox
or anything like that.
Like, it makes no sense asking a girl
to change her appearance.
I feel sorry for her having to be
pressured into changing who she is.
I know Meg does it to me.
She says she hates my hair
and she wants me to cut it.
It affected her in a way
that she brought it up as a massive issue.
-Obviously
-I still see it as a massive issue.
-Of course.
-This is a girl that you saw
when you wanted
and you wanted fake titties.
Who's he to judge me?
No, I didn't Like I said, I never
It was never endorsed upon her.
It wasn't a compulsory thing
or anything like that at all.
It was more a, "Here's an option."
Basically said, "Here's some money.
You can spend it on what you want."
But I just I don't know.
I don't believe you.
Like, I'll be honest. I don't believe you,
'cause you you seem superficial.
Like, you want No, no, no.
You like those. The fake
I can understand him thinking that,
but that's not what you are--
No, no, I'm just being honest.
[narrator] After last night's catch-up,
our exes have returned home.
I'm talking to these girls,
the first thing they all want to know was,
-"Are you having sex?" And I thought
-That's what the guys were like.
They came right out and asked me,
and I went
"Well, yeah."
Well, it reinforced to me
how much we're on track, actually.
And they just haven't quite got it yet.
But I think we've got it.
What about the guy
that made his girlfriend get fake titties?
When she told me that, I honestly
Look, I was gobsmacked.
-[Jeremy chuckles]
-I was like, "That's disgusting."
I think 'cause we're just not into that.
That just doesn't appeal to me at all.
It's not okay. It's not okay to
He was, like, possessive.
Yeah, he was bizarre.
It made me realize that me and Meg
maybe don't have it that bad.
We've got a lot of issues,
but there's people out there
with a lot bigger issues.
So you had a good night, all around?
Yeah. The favorite part of my night was
when I got to come home and see you.
No, I was talking to Lauren,
and she was talking about Erik
and I was sitting there thinking,
"Oh, my God. Jeremy is beautiful.
He is the loveliest boy
in the whole entire world."
And all I wanted her to do
was kind of keep talking about him,
so I could be like, "Jeremy is amazing.
Like, I have it so good. I'm so lucky."
Hearing about everything
Yeah, I feel lucky to have Meg around.
She
Yeah, she's really showing the side of her
that I fell in love with.
[narrator] After their night out,
our exes will now put their trust
to the test.
[Erik] "If you want to know
what your ex did last night"
[chuckles] "Press play." You bet I do.
[narrator] They've been given a video
showing moments
from their partners' night out.
It's their decision to press play or not.
Trust is a two-way street.
It is another step forward.
It just shows that something
can come from this.
"Press play." Do I ever?
Me and Meg, we've had
a lot of issues in the past. A lot.
But we've always been really good friends.
I adore her. Like, I think she is perfect.
-She's amazing. She's so good-looking.
-[Cam] There's a "but" in that.
-There is a "but."
-[Peter] What is the "but"?
The "but"
is that we struggle to get along.
-That's a major "but."
-Like, it's not It's not
That's something
that could be worked on, though.
You can work on that. I know that.
And I think we've started
Over the last couple of days,
we've started to work on it.
I'm trying to make it work with her.
Like, she is my best friend.
I like it.
It's mine. I want to watch it
again and again.
I thought that was really cute.
I thought that was really beautiful.
He was honest, and he was truthful, and
I like him. I like him so much.
He means a lot to me.
I, um
I really don't have much to say
about Jeremy. I adore him.
I absolutely adore him
down to the maximum.
He is a beautiful person, and he
-[Diane] What's beautiful about him?
-He aggravates me, and he
makes me happy,
and he makes me laugh, and
He's my friend. He'll always be my friend.
I adore him.
-[Diane] You're on the right track.
-[Meg] I hope I'm on the right track.
I think we've got a lot to overcome,
and I know there's a lot of hurdles.
But I'm ready.
Watching that video, it's built
a little bit of trust in Meg. Like
that she's not just saying
those things to me,
she's saying it to other people.
I believe her more now.
-Hello.
-Hey, Meg.
Hi. That was so beautiful. [chuckles]
You just pretty much said
that you adored me
and you think I'm perfect.
Yours was nice, too. I feel like
I've heard those things
that you've said to me before
but I didn't think
-That I would say them to other people?
-Yeah.
Okay.
All right, so we're good.
Things are moving in the right direction.
I feel like every single day, we have
more of an understanding of one another,
which does make us stronger
in the end, doesn't it?
[Erik] "Press play."
[Lauren] If Erik could see
what me and the girls got up to last night
and what we spoke about,
I think he may be a little bit shocked.
I don't think
he would be prepared to hear, um
the revealing things
I was saying about him.
Doesn't really matter
what she did last night.
I trust her.
I'm trying to prove to Lauren
that there is trust.
I'm showing actions towards her
that she can take on board and say,
"Well, okay, he's a changed guy.
I can trust him.
I don't have to have doubt against him."
I'm pretty sure she would tell me
if she did something wrong.
[Lauren] I really want to see
what happened
and what Erik got up to last night.
Um, I'm still getting to know him again.
And I just want to see what type of person
he is when he's not around me
and when he's around the blokes.
I would never ask my girlfriend
to get fake tits.
The titties was just like a, you know,
a stupid little thing
that I would joke about.
-But I think--
-[Cam] You were serious.
It wasn't a compulsory thing
or anything like that at all.
Basically said, "Here's some money.
You can spend it on what you want."
[Cam] But I just I don't know.
I don't believe you.
Like, I'll be honest. I don't believe you,
'cause you you seem superficial.
Like, you want No, no, no.
You like those.
Erik's getting angry.
[Peter] I can understand
him thinking that
-In hindsight, I was an absolute dick.
-Right.
And she knows I was.
But she just put up with it, 'cause
She bent over backwards.
She did pretty much everything.
She was wifey material.
And over that six and a half years
we were together,
I broke up with her at least once a year.
I'm a little bit angry to be honest.
And that's what I was worried about.
That he wasn't feeling genuinely sorry
about how he treated me. And I
That sort of Yeah, made me think,
he's not sorry.
I need to address what I just saw.
After having a couple
of great days with Erik, it's
All those memories are now gone.
All I'm just thinking is,
"What am I doing here?"
I'm not feeling happy at all.
[narrator] It's the day after
Kate and Cam's night out,
and each couple has been offered
a video to watch
which will test their level of trust.
"If you want to know what your ex did
last night, press play."
[narrator] Do they take the chance
and risk disappointment,
or do they trust one another completely?
[Cam] I'm so intrigued.
I would love to sit there and watch it.
[Kate] If he presses play on that video
and decides to watch it,
he really, really doesn't trust me.
I feel like that would be taking
three steps back.
-Oh, hey.
-Howdy. Howdy.
-[both] How are ya?
-Jinx.
-Hmm?
-Did you watch the video?
I don't know. Did you?
-You wanted to watch it?
-I wanted to watch it. Did you?
-I really wanted to watch it.
-Did you?
Really, if you watched the video, then
Well, that would show me
that you don't trust me.
And I know that you obviously have
trust issues, so
I'm sort of thinking you might have.
Honestly, um I didn't watch it.
I didn't watch it, either.
-Really?
-Nope.
-Well done.
-I'm glad that you didn't watch it.
I had no need. Like, it's
I'm the one with the issues, I guess.
When Kate cheated,
she wasn't upfront about it.
I need to show her
that I'm willing to trust her
but I need to show myself
that I can build this trust again.
-We're on the same page, then.
-That's awesome. No, far out.
-Well done.
-Now can we watch the video? [laughing]
"If you want to know what your ex did
last night Press play." You bet I do.
[Diane] So we met at a lovely restaurant
on the bay,
and I actually just look at him,
and he looked fabulous, and I
What I remember the most about him
was his broad shoulders.
He had enormous broad shoulders.
He does a lot of bodybuilding
and weight training and
-He's still got it? [Meg laughs]
-He did. Yeah, I know.
We were very passionate.
So you guys have, like,
got intimate already?
-Yeah.
-Really? Already?
Yeah, well, that was
what our spark was early on.
He's a sweet, kind, big-hearted,
big Aussie.
Wow.
Yeah, that brought a little tear to my eye
just hearing what she had to say about me.
[sniffles]
Sorry. She's really special.
Dude, just fast-forward, mate.
You're beating around the bush.
Where did it happen and how did it happen?
[Peter laughing in video]
Really?
[Peter] She came back to my home.
The minute that bedroom door shut,
it was full-on. It was all on. Absolutely.
He sounds like a pig.
It was like we were 28 and 20 again.
It was unbelievable.
Oh, dear God.
I didn't think I was capable
of that anymore, but clearly I am.
Still works.
Oh, my God.
Not loving that at all.
[sighs]
They look like a bunch of grown men
that were pigs.
And my Peter was one of 'em.
I was hurt, and I was shocked,
and then I got mad.
It felt like a deal-breaker.
He's gonna have to figure out a way
to make it up, so we can just move on.
Well, I just watched your video
I did not appreciate at all the fact
that you were telling these grown men
what goes on in our bedroom.
Don't like it at all.
The fact that you acted like that,
as the grown man in that group,
made you look bad.
It hurt my feelings. It did.
That was not something
that I liked at all.
I said we were connected
and it was important
that we got to know each other this time
and really understand
You didn't You didn't say
those things in a loving way.
You said 'em in a jerky way,
hanging out with a bunch of guys.
It hurts me to know that you've been hurt,
and I'm so sorry.
'Cause I can't undo what [stammers]
Peter wanted to apologize,
and I wasn't even hearing
what he was saying anymore. I was done.
What I do in a relationship
and what I do behind closed doors
is nobody's business.
[narrator] Across town,
Lauren is confronting Erik
about what she saw in the video.
So I did watch it and
-Yeah, I have to say I'm a bit upset.
-Why is that?
Well, the way you were talking about me
and explaining me to the other guys
-is like you were proud.
-I was.
No, it was like you were proud
to boast how badly you treated me.
No, no, no. They
When we were talking about it,
I was trying to get the point across that,
you know, I was admitting
that I was a dick.
And I treated you like shit.
I wasn't proud about that fact at all.
Yeah, but you didn't seem
sincere about it.
They were telling you that's pretty bad,
and you didn't seem sorry.
Yeah, well, none of 'em
actually shared anything
remotely close to what I did last night.
-You're just totally avoiding my question.
-What is your question?
I'm saying you didn't seem sorry.
The way that you treated me.
You've said to me so many times
you're sorry.
-Yes.
-You're sorry, you're sorry.
You've changed, you've changed.
But telling the guys,
you just seemed like
you loved it.
You loved the fact that you were the king
and I was like
-No.
-your little puppet.
-That's not the case.
-Well, that's how it seemed.
I wasn't proud.
I mean, you're honestly taking this wrong.
Hindsight, yeah
I neglected you. I pushed you away.
I denied you a lot of things.
So, why How What's changed? Why now?
How do I know you're feeling
attracted to me again?
-And that it's genuine?
-If I wasn't, I wouldn't be here.
-You think I'm evil?
-I don't think you're evil.
-It just doesn't make sense to me.
-Okay.
I just thought you would be open.
I don't know how to present it to you
so you understand.
Right now, there is still hope.
I'm willing to still push on.
He does look sad. He looks disappointed.
But, at the same time,
I'm not going to just cover up
my feelings.
I can't force myself to fall back
in love with him. It needs to happen.
I've tried.
And I'm continuing to try.
And I'm failing.
