Entrapped (2022) s01e04 Episode Script

Episode 4

1
[Sonja] I know
that you're the local police chief
and I respect that completely.
But everything
pertaining to this investigation
from here on out goes through me.
This isn't some Icelandic
small-town issue anymore.
We've been building this case for ages.
This is a huge case.
- The Danish police are working with us.
- [Trausti] Oh, wow.
Andri.
I have to meet someone.
You're coming with me.
Why Andri? I outrank him.
Yeah? Well, he's a better cop.
[door opens]
[imperceptible]
Is that your car?
- Yeah.
- Can you drive?
The chopper could be a bit too much.
- What are we doing?
- You'll see.
Sonja, I'm not your chauffeur.
Where are we going?
It's right by here. It's in my phone.
Let's go, I'll explain on the way.
[car door closes]
[opening theme music playing]
[Andri] So, where are we going?
[inhales deeply]
We're going to see Sverrir.
Sverrir?
Did you send him up here?
Us?
[scoffs] No, we didn't send him anywhere.
Bergur sent him, because Gunnar
suddenly stopped answering his phone.
He's afraid someone's tapping his phone.
Strange, huh?
Yeah, sorry about that.
We got ahead of ourselves.
- [Örn over phone] I trust Sonja.
- To do what exactly?
To come here and
and boss everyone around?
It's infuriating.
I'm head of the Investigations Unit.
I can't let her walk all over me.
Trausti. You were specifically ordered
to stay away from Gunnar.
You obviously can't be trusted
with the responsibility
of managing this case.
[Trausti] I'm not listening to this.
[Trausti huffs]
Trausti?
[door opens]
- Trausti stepped out.
- [door closes]
We're grossly outnumbered
by that motorcycle gang,
so if we move ahead
with any operation or arrests,
we need manpower up here.
And who exactly are you going to arrest
and which operations?
No, I'm just saying,
if we end up needing to.
There will be no operations
unless they're ordered by Sonja.
[line disconnects]
[motorcycle engine rumbling]
[suspenseful music playing]
[siren wailing]
[siren stops]
[Haraldur] Good afternoon.
- Are you in a hurry?
- No, I was doing 50.
Do you have any drugs on you?
Are you fucking kidding me?
Afraid not, buddy.
Park the bike and follow me to the car.
Aren't you putting his life in danger?
He knows what he's gotten himself into.
[tense music playing]
[Sverrir sniffing]
[car door closes]
Hello, Sverrir. How are you?
What did you want to discuss?
What's he doing here?
He's okay.
Hey. It's almost over.
You just have to help us connect
Hopper to the drugs and then you're out.
I'm not just doing this for myself.
What do you mean?
If I do this,
can you promise me that Bergur goes free?
[scoffs]
- Sverrir.
- Can you say it in front of him?
Remember, you're not
in charge here, Sverrir.
If Hopper finds out
what we're doing or I fuck this up,
jail time won't be an issue then,
'cause I'll be dead.
I can just go home.
Okay.
- Okay?
- Bergur won't go to prison.
You have to contact me
- the second you hear anything.
- Mm-hmm.
- Even tonight.
- Yeah.
You heard what she said.
Okay.
[pensive music playing]
[Hinrika] So, what's up?
Why is the focus
only on this Danish drug smuggling case?
A young man was killed. Isn't that
Shouldn't that be the priority?
Isn't this just politics?
Some PR case?
Photo-ops and European grants?
A young man killed out in the country?
Who cares about that?
Then they're always sending people up
from the city who think they know better.
[chuckles]
Yeah, I know.
[sighs] We're just pawns.
And we do as we're told.
Maybe it'd be better if we
think about a career change.
[chuckles]
No, no. Come on.
[mouse clicking]
[Sonja] Keeping busy, Trausti?
Have you got any work for me?
[mouse clicking]
[door closes]
- Where were you?
- Met with Sverrir.
Okay. And?
He's headed to the
- Where's the printer?
- Our printer's right over there.
Yeah, well, I need it in with me.
- I'll bring it in.
- [Sonja] Thank you.
[indistinct chatter]
Excuse me.
- Hi.
- Hi.
I'm looking for Kristján. Is he around?
Kristján?
Yeah?
Hi. My name's Sóley.
I worked with Ívar at Lína's bar.
Oh. So you are Sóley.
I'm sorry for showing up like this.
But I've got the birthday present
that Ívar bought for Eva.
I know Ívar loved her.
[sighs]
Have you known him a long time?
Yeah.
I'm really sorry for your loss.
Thank you.
I'm sure that
that Magdalena would like to meet you.
Maybe you could, uh, make it over
to our place for dinner tonight?
[tense music playing]
You can give this to Eva yourself.
I pulled this one over
leaving town in a hurry.
No, is that right?
Should we have a word with him?
Yeah, I'd like to
have a sit-down with him.
- [Andri] Come on.
- [Haraldur] I'll take the helmet.
- [Sonja] Trausti?
- Yeah?
[Sonja] Can I have a word?
I'll go deal with her. Get started.
Who's that?
Uh, his name is Flosi.
Just some kid involved
with the, uh, motorcycle gang.
Yeah, I see that.
And what is he doing here?
He was speeding.
They both need to talk to him about that?
- No, no.
- Must be connected to something important.
I'm afraid he's on parole
and they found him carrying drugs.
Andri knows him
and has a way with him. He's just a kid.
- I want you to write a report.
- Mm-hmm.
And I want you to
note everything that he says.
Of course.
[Trausti sighs]
You been working
on this case for a long time?
Yeah. Way too long.
When's the drop-off?
We don't know an exact time as of yet.
But it's soon.
What's the next step? What's
What's the plan?
Then I'm gonna nail that Hopper.
All of those guys.
[tense music playing]
[door opens]
Here you go.
- Don't you have any energy drinks?
- [both chuckle]
We asked you not to leave town
until after
the murder investigation was over.
- Where were you going?
- Just home.
Did you take part
in the torture of the two pagans?
No, I did not.
What's up with your neck?
[exhales deeply]
Gunnar's become way too tense.
I'm not a part of this.
I just came up north to ride my bike,
have fun and meet some new people.
And what?
Flosi? We know you're not a criminal.
But we could use your help.
Just tell us what you know.
I have no idea what they're doing.
[Hinrika] They who?
Hopper, maybe Gunnar and Baby Lars.
Baby Lars?
I don't know his real name,
but he's called Baby Lars.
A total psycho.
Follows Gunnar wherever he goes.
He follows Gunnar wherever he goes?
Did he follow Gunnar
on the night of Ívar's murder,
when the rest of you were at the bar?
The night you told us
that Gunnar had gone off alone?
Yes, okay!
- Okay, what?
- They went together, man.
[engine stops]
[sighs]
[breathes deeply]
[heavy metal music
playing distantly over speakers]
[Sverrir] Hi.
[Elísabet] Sverrir.
[Sverrir chuckling]
[indistinct chatter]
- [Elísabet] What are you doing here?
- [Sverrir] Good to see ya.
- [Elísabet] You too.
- How are ya?
- Hi. How are you?
- [Sverrir] Hi, baby. Mmm.
- Nice to see you.
- [Sverrir] Yes, you too. How are you?
- [Dalla] Oh, I'm so good.
- [Sverrir] Yeah?
- How are ya?
- [Gunnar] All good, and you?
[exhales] Bergur said, uh,
that you lost your damn phone there, bro.
Yeah. Had to get rid of it.
Okay.
Don't you want something to drink?
- Yes, please. I'd love a drink.
- [Dalla] Well, yeah.
- [Sverrir] Hmm. [chuckles]
- [Gunnar] Let's have a drink.
[Sverrir] Yeah, I could use one.
- Look at those leather pants.
- Fuck you doing?
[heavy metal music playing over speakers]
[imperceptible]
[imperceptible]
What's up?
Who's he?
Sverrir. Bergur's boyfriend.
[Hopper] What's he doing here?
[Gunnar] Bergur sent him to make sure
everything was going as planned.
You know.
I couldn't answer the phone calls,
our phones are being tapped.
Do you trust him?
[tense music playing]
Yeah, I mean, he's working with Bergur.
I wasn't asking about that.
Do you trust him?
Yeah. Of course.
Well, he's free to go.
[Haraldur] Oh.
Can you take him?
[Haraldur] Yes.
- What's going on here?
- Uh, nothing.
Listen, Andri.
I need to talk this through with you.
I'm gonna pop up to the hotel to unpack
and take a shower and stuff.
Can you meet me there in an hour or so?
[Andri] Sure.
[Trausti] What did he say?
Gunnar wasn't alone
on the night of Ívar's murder.
What? Well, who was he with?
[Andri] Baby Lars.
[suspenseful music playing]
- Wait, who's that? What's the connection?
- Let me see.
He's one of the founding members of Horns.
He has been convicted
of drug possession, assault charges,
the list goes on.
That has to be enough
to bring him in for questioning.
And will Sonja allow that?
No.
[cell phone ringing]
[beeps]
Hi.
[Sverrir] Hey. Listen, I I'm there now.
I met with Gunnar
and Elísabet and the others.
What about Hopper?
Not yet.
I'm hoping I can chat with him later.
[wind blowing]
How are you doing?
Fine.
So you've got everything under control?
Yep. [sighs]
You know, I, uh
I love you.
Yeah, love you too.
Okay. Bye.
[mellow music playing on speakers]
[indistinct chatter]
[chair scrapes]
Where were you?
Outside, on the phone with Bergur.
Hey. He wants a word.
Just Sverrir.
[Gunnar sighs]
[tense music playing]
Hello, Sverrir.
[chuckles softly]
Good to finally meet you.
You too. It's an honor to meet you.
Sit down, my friend.
Thank you.
I heard a lot of great things
about you there.
Yeah?
It's good to know that
That there's someone on the Icelandic side
with more experience, you know?
A grown-up. Like you.
Someone who understands
that big decisions have to be made.
I heard this Ívar guy was giving you some
Some problems.
But you can thank Gunnar and Lars
for taking care of that for you.
They took it upon themselves
to solve our little
Ívar problem.
So that means
that it's too risky to have Gunnar
and Lars deeply involved in the smuggling.
So they will be leaving
the country tomorrow.
So I want you, Sverrir,
to take care of the last details.
Do you think you can do that?
Yeah.
Yeah, absolutely, yes.
Great.
Shouldn't we open another bottle?
- We don't often have guests.
- [Sóley chuckles]
- I should really be heading home.
- [Kristján] No, no, don't be silly.
- [wine pouring]
- One more glass won't hurt anybody.
Here's to you.
The cutest daughter-in-law.
It's so great to hear Ívar had friends
other than pagan cultists.
They insist on having his funeral
at their place up north.
We're not quite sure about it.
What do you think?
I really don't know.
[Magdalena] But you were so close.
You think that's what he wanted?
[tense music playing]
Well, that group
was something he really loved.
And yeah, truthfully,
I think that would've been his wish,
to be laid to rest there.
It was so nice of you to reach out to us.
It was really nice to meet you.
Thank you again for dinner.
Are you sure
you don't want me to drive you home?
I've got nothing better to do.
No, no.
I'll take the bus. It's close by.
See you later. Thanks for dinner.
Thanks for coming. Goodbye.
- [piano music playing over speakers]
- [indistinct chatter]
Have you heard from Sverrir?
[Sonja] Yeah. Just now. He's okay.
Don't be so worried, Andri.
Aren't you nervous?
He looked afraid to me.
Sure, this kind of thing is nerve-racking.
I don't like
putting him into a dangerous situation.
Do you trust him?
Yeah, I trust him.
It's Bergur that I'm worried about.
It wasn't Bergur
who was fighting with Ívar
on the night of his murder.
Sverrir was simply
protecting his boyfriend.
And Bergur was using the bar
to launder money for Gunnar.
Did Ívar know about that?
No. He found out that night.
He also heard
that the Danish gang was on its way here.
That's why he came up north.
That's a lot to know.
Why didn't you share that with us?
I thought I just did, now.
Right.
Yes, please.
[bottle unscrews]
So are you also staying at the hotel?
No, no. I'm, uh,
staying with a friend in town.
Okay. Where?
With my father-in-law,
or ex-father-in-law.
At the retirement home.
Yes.
- [chuckles]
- [laughing]
You seeing anybody right now?
No, nothing like that.
Always working.
Mm, I relate.
There's never time for any fun.
Unless, maybe,
when you're at a hotel in the country.
Uh, right.
Hey. Cheers.
Cheers.
[glasses clink]
[solemn music playing]
[cell phone ringing]
Hi.
- How are you?
- I'm good, and you?
Yeah, I'm good too.
Have you spoken to Hopper yet?
Mm-hmm. Yes, I met with him yesterday.
And what?
He wants me to handle the final details.
Why? Where are Gunnar and Lars?
The cops are watching them.
Why?
Hopper said that, uh
That Lars and Gunnar killed Ívar.
So now it's too risky
for them to handle the smuggling.
They're going to leave the country.
Bergur?
You have to tell the cops that.
- What do you mean?
- We're talking about murder, Sverrir.
We have to do something.
Ívar was one of my best friends.
Listen
I've got Andri's number.
You have to call him.
Yeah, but, Bergur, if I do this,
I'm jeopardizing the whole deal.
Sverrir, you have to do it for me.
Screw the fucking deal.
Call Andri and get the hell outta there.
Okay.
Text the number.
- Okay. Love you.
- Yeah.
Okay, bye.
- [breath trembling]
- [beeps]
[sniffles]
[sighs]
If something happens to me,
is the deal with Bergur still on?
[door creaks, closes]
[indistinct chatter]
Hey, good morning.
Were you finishing the meeting now, or
Take a seat.
- Thanks, I needed to talk to you.
- [cell phone ringing]
Hello?
Hello, Sverrir.
[ominous music playing]
What?
[sirens wailing]
[intense music playing]
[biker] Hey, the police is here!
[indistinct chatter]
[indistinct shouting]
Just looking for Gunnar and Lars.
[Hinrika] Take him.
Where's Gunnar?
Calm down. Come with us.
Take him to the interrogation room.
And Gunnar in with me.
[tense music playing]
[Trausti sighs]
[Trausti] Lars Petersen.
Better known as Baby Lars.
He was born in Tórshavn
in the Faroe Islands in '86.
He has lived in Iceland and in Denmark.
And he's served time in both countries.
You came to Iceland
a few weeks ago with Gunnar. How come?
Why didn't you join Hopper
and the rest on the ferry?
We had to prepare.
- [Andri] Prepare?
- [Trausti] For what?
War.
What's up with Lars?
Is he your bodyguard or something?
[chuckles]
No.
Your uncle wants you followed?
Why would my uncle want to follow me?
Mm, I don't know. You're always together.
You must be good friends.
- You could say that.
- Are you sure?
Yup.
Your friend is right behind that wall,
being questioned by two policemen.
Do you trust him?
[Trausti] On the day Ívar was murdered,
you visited The Family.
- Yep.
- What were you doing there?
Just a nice, little road trip.
You threatened them.
It's just a bonus
to be able to beat up some hippie losers.
After that, you and Gunnar
went somewhere together.
Where did you go?
Just to look at the stars.
Ívar was in Reykjavík
the day of his murder.
His sister's birthday party
was down there, but he didn't show,
which was unlike him.
Do you remember his sister?
Of course I remember her.
He had an argument
with Bergur and Sverrir,
hurried up north,
where you attacked him.
Then he was killed later that night.
Gunnar, you have to tell me something.
It wasn't me.
- Who's saying you killed him?
- Then why am I here?
You say you didn't kill him,
but it's clear someone did.
Like, for example, your friend, Lars.
No. He was with me all night.
We didn't even go near Ívar.
You fucking can't be serious about that.
It's bullshit.
You're just trying to pin this on us.
Why don't you try to find out
who really did this?
Ívar was my friend.
I could never Honestly.
[Gunnar sighs]
[indistinct chatter]
[footsteps approaching]
Hey. [sniffles]
[tense music playing]
[Hopper] Hey, Sverrir.
What do you think the cops want, huh?
I don't know.
It's gonna be hard for them
to explain they were
in the next town, dealing drugs,
do you not think so?
Yeah.
Uh, look Uh, I gotta go into town.
I gotta take care of some business.
Sure.
I'll be back in, like, an hour.
No problem.
- Yeah?
- Yeah. Sverrir.
I'll walk you to your car. Is that okay?
[Sverrir] Okay.
[Andri] Look, it's quite simple.
Ívar owned the bar.
And Gunnar and the rest of you in Horns
were laundering money at the bar,
and when he found out,
you two were sent to take him out.
Yeah, so that's what you think?
[Andri] No, we don't think that.
We know that you were both there.
The question is,
which one of you killed him?
I would really like to know
where you get this information.
How you can be so sure we did this.
One might think we have a snitch.
[chuckles]
I never did trust those fucking homos.
Hey, they set us up.
They know about Sverrir.
[tense music playing]
[music intensifies]
[motorcycle engines rumbling]
Fuck!
We're going to the old factory. Follow me.
[sirens wailing]
[tense music continues]
[tires screeching]
[Sverrir breathing heavily]
- [shower running]
- [cell phone vibrating]
[sirens wailing]
[cell phone ringing]
[on voicemail] Hi, this is Bergur.
I can't come to the phone.
Please leave a message
and I'll get right back to you.
- Whoa
- [tires screeching]
[sighs in relief] Oh.
[sirens wailing]
[tires scraping]
[intense music playing]
[breathing heavily] Fuck!
Hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey.
[Sverrir grunts]
Hey! Please, Hopper. Hopper.
[suspenseful music playing]
[Sverrir] Elísabet, do something!
Let's talk. Let's talk about this.
No, please
[Sverrir grunts]
You fucking snitch.
[sobbing]
I'm sorry, man.
I'm really sorry. I had no choice.
[sirens wailing]
[dispatch on radio] We just got a call
about a group of motorcycles
on the gravel road, north of the factory.
- Copy.
- [radio beeps]
[dramatic music playing]
[cell phone ringing]
[sighs]
[ringing stops]
[closing theme music playing]
