Ferry: The Series (2023) s01e06 Episode Script

The Comedown

1
STYLETTO - 5 YEARS
Those looking
for a new haircut this weekend,
would have been wise
to head to downtown Overpelt,
where hair salon Styletto was
blowing out five birthday candles.
We wanted to celebrate
this special day with our customers,
who have been supporting us for years.
So, that's why we are cutting for free
and offer passers-by a glass of champagne.
So, yeah, a free cut
and a glass of champagne.
Because he and Sabien have
two reasons to celebrate today.
We actually want to celebrate life,
because Sabien is back.
People who know us know that Styletto
actually had its fifth birthday last year.
But because Sabien was out
for a while because of illness,
we decided to postpone the festivities.
Because without Sabien,
there would be no Styletto.
I just feel fantastic.
This is an awesome day.
Finally among my clients again, doing
what I love: blow-outs, washing, cutting.
I'm really happy to do
what I love most again.
Hey, we still have dreams.
I'm thinking about maybe starting
a shampoo line in the future,
and who knows, a second location.
But that is so sweet. Thank you, honey.
Without my Marco,
I wouldn't have been able to handle it.
Right? My rock.
You are my rock.
On to the next anniversary.
What is your secret?
Our secret?
Dance every day.
Don't, don't.
Can I maybe sleep here tonight?
I just can't be home right now.
Ah, girl.
But that's no problem,
you know that.
Thank you.
Tell me what happened.
Did you have a fight?
Yeah, I just don't really feel
like talking about it, if that's okay.
-This is home, you know that.
-Yes.
-Marco, she's fine here, isn't she?
-Of course.
Nothing besides water? Anything to eat?
No.
No, I would really like to go to bed.
I'm really exhausted. Is that okay?
Yes, of course. If that's what you want.
-Does Ferry know you're here?
-No.
No, no. I really don't want
to see him for now.
I will get everything ready.
FERRY: THE SERIES
And? Did she say anything?
No, nothing.
Wasn't she acting really strange?
He didn't do anything to her, did he?
Ferry? No, he's crazy about her.
I can't imagine either, but well
-What could it be?
-I don't know.
Anything you didn't tell me?
-Me?
-Is Ferry seeing someone else?
How should I know?
No clue what you talk about
in your man cave.
Next, it'll be my fault.
I don't know anything, there's nothing.
Hi, this is Danielle's voicemail. I'm
not here. Leave a message after the beep.
No, this is Marco.
Hi.
Hey, sorry for calling you this late, man,
but I just wanted to say that,
should you be looking
for Danielle, she's here with us.
Can't she tell me herself?
She said that she was looking
for a place to stay.
Why?
I don't know, Fer.
She said that she didn't feel
like being home by herself or something.
And she seemed quite confused.
Did something happen, Fer?
I have a feeling.
Something private or
work-related?
Put her on.
Well, she actually went to sleep.
And I think it'd be best
to leave her alone tonight.
And try again tomorrow.
Okay. I'll call her tomorrow.
Thank you.
-Hello?
-Hey, asshole.
Do you know what time it is? Well?
It's time to make money, man.
I've been calling Arie Tack's list.
We meet someone today.
Well Today doesn't really work for me.
Don't bullshit me. Pick me up at 2:00.
We have an appointment.
Hi, this is Danielle's voicemail.
Leave a message after the beep.
-Hey. Good morning.
-Good morning.
Did you get any sleep on that mattress?
My back hurts after sleeping there.
When I drink, I start snoring
like a pig and Sabien throws me out.
-There's something going on everywhere.
-It was fine.
-Hey, honey.
-Good morning.
Who's that?
Ferry, maybe.
What?
No
How does he know I'm here?
Yeah
I told him.
I thought he'd worry otherwise.
No, I said that I didn't want to see him!
Seriously, man!
-Marco?
-No, don't open the door.
I really don't want to see him.
-No.
-Marco, sit down.
-Just a peek.
-Sit down.
What the hell is going on here?
Why didn't you open up?
I asked him not to.
I don't want to see you. Go.
Why?
What did I do wrong?
-I told you it's all solved.
-We're not discussing this here. Go.
I'm not going anywhere.
What's going on? I'm your husband.
Go away. Now.
-Ferry, maybe
-Stop this nonsense. Come.
I'm not coming.
What's wrong?
-Ferry
-Stay out of it!
I know what happened in Amsterdam.
What?
I heard about Jason and Davy.
Do you want to talk about that?
Say the word.
What happened in Amsterdam?
Are you okay?
Fer, are you okay?
Hey, what was that all about, man?
-Something from the past.
-Something about the business?
-Do I need to worry?
-Please, Marco, not now.
-Understand that it's weird for us too.
-Not now, Marco!
I have to go.
Goddammit.
This is Lars. I'm not here.
Leave a message.
Lars, goddammit, what did you say
to Danielle?! Call me back!
Goddammit!
Upstairs.
What was that?
-Do you know what this is about?
-No. No.
-I've never seen Ferry like this.
-No.
It's weird, right?
I'll stay with Danielle.
Maybe she'll talk later.
-Yes.
-Okay?
I have to go to Styletto.
I need papers for the bookkeeping.
-Is that okay?
-Yes, but just hold me.
-I'm really not I just don't feel well.
-Ah Oh, baby.
-We're not open yet, ma'am.
-Mr. Grootaers?
Els Siegert,
National Bureau of Investigation.
We would like to talk
to you at the station.
Oh, dear
What is it?
Well, just some questions
about your company. Marcosmetics?
-What kind of questions?
-It won't take long. Can you come with me?
Do I need a lawyer?
That's allowed, of course.
Please come, you can call
your lawyer on the way. Okay?
Hey, Marco. Everything okay?
Gee, yeah, I don't know.
You are the lawyer.
They didn't say anything.
Why are you here, were you arrested?
They wanted to ask me
a few questions about Marcosmetics.
Okay, anything I should know?
Don't think so, no.
No VAT fraud, strange cash transactions,
those kinds of things?
No, no.
Good. Keep your answers short
and to the point.
Better to say too little than too much.
Marcosmetics, nice name.
Thank you.
Yes, international vibe.
Big plans?
We just started. We'll see.
It's my name.
And they're cosmetics.
So, yeah, that's why, Marcosmetics.
Yeah. No, we understood, yeah.
Marcosmetics ordered
a huge amount of sassafras oil.
Why did you choose that?
It smells good.
Other things smell good too.
Yeah, but sassafras also has
nourishing qualities.
You may know
that sassafras is used to make precursors.
Raw materials for the production
of synthetic drugs, such as Ecstasy.
I only make shampoo.
You ordered a thousand liters.
That's a lot of bottles of shampoo, right?
I have a hair salon
and want to offer my own line.
-Is that it?
-Right.
You run that together
with your wife Sabien?
And she is involved
in the production of the shampoo?
No, my wife has nothing to do with that.
That's mainly a side project of mine.
Can you tell me, who is Ferry Bouman?
He's a childhood friend.
His girlfriend Danielle works
with us in the salon, the hair salon.
You know he has a criminal record?
Assault and those kinds of things.
No, I didn't know.
Or actually, I don't know him like that.
You're in business as well?
No.
But he knows about your shampoo factory?
Yes, yes, he does. But as a friend.
This is a text message
from Mr. Bouman to you from last week.
"When can I come get the coconut oil?
I urgently need to cook."
Isn't that code language?
Well, no, he's a friend.
He was making a curry.
Oh, well.
Delicious. Curry, tasty.
Do you know who this is?
-No.
-Does the name "Arie Tack" ring a bell?
Not really, no.
He is a known drug trafficker.
Oh, dear.
Still doesn't?
Maybe from the news.
Why?
Mr. Grootaers,
last night we looked around
in the Marcosmetics warehouse.
What?
Three hundred liters of sassafras oil
is missing. Where is it?
-You broke in?
-Three hundred liters, Mr. Grootaers.
It was used.
In shampoos?
And where is it now? Sold?
-No.
-Where is it then?
You don't know? Isn't that weird?
Maybe you sold it to Ferry Bouman?
Or Arie Tack, maybe?
I don't know that guy.
We found this at his home.
One of your shampoo bottles.
That's impossible.
I really don't know that guy.
How did it get there?
-Through Ferry Bouman?
-I don't know. Stolen, maybe?
An empty bottle?
Ask him. I have nothing to do with it.
Arie Tack and Dimitri Verhoeven were
found dead this morning, in the Meuse.
-You think that I did that?
-You tell me.
No!
I would like to speak with my client.
Now! Please.
It's his right.
What is this, man?
I'm just a regular lawyer.
You call me for taxes or unpaid invoices.
-Not drugs or murder.
-I have nothing to do with that.
And what about that sassafras oil?
And that friend, Ferry Bouman?
If you're not honest with me,
I can't help you.
I ordered those 300 liters for him.
Okay, I'm not
the right person to help you.
No, Willemijn.
I don't know what to do.
Shit, man.
I'm listening.
Inspector, those 300 liters
were dumped in the sewer by my client,
while developing his shampoos.
Oh, that's how you're playing it?
Yes, it's the first time
Mr. Grootaers has made shampoo,
so that means a lot of experimenting.
So, if you're not charging
my client, you have to let him go.
Fine.
We will draw up the interrogation report,
so the gentleman can sign it.
And the magistrate will decide
on further detention.
What is it?
Didn't sleep well?
Trouble at home.
With the wifey?
What is it?
Not talking about it.
I do the talking.
I've asked around.
Big shot, lots of money.
We want to land this.
What is this bullshit, man?
Don't worry about it. They're playing
hard-to-get. I'll find out about others.
We have to talk.
Okay, of course, honey.
I'm coming. Right away.
No, not here. Somewhere else.
Maasmechelen Village, in an hour.
Where?
You're acting like I'm a criminal.
Ferry.
Hey, if that's
what you want, fine with me.
I'll see you soon.
My client is free to go?
Absolutely, free as a bird.
-Thank you.
-For now.
That's uncalled-for, Inspector.
Mr. Grootaers, I do want you to realize
that this doesn't mean
that the magistrate won't prosecute you.
Come on, Marco.
How long have your wife
and you had this hair salon?
-Twenty years.
-Twenty years.
You seem like a hard worker to me.
A successful entrepreneur.
-You really built a good thing.
-Marco.
But you are about to lose everything.
Are you sure that your good friend,
Ferry Bouman, is worth it?
Inspector, please.
You can help us catch
the real criminals. And I'll help you.
But you'll have to confess first.
Nice try, Inspector,
but my client has nothing to confess.
Marco, are you okay?
I'm screwed. Ruined, it's all ruined.
Calm down. Marco, calm down.
Nothing is ruined. You're free.
Did you hear what they said?
They know everything.
That may be, Marco,
but they don't have anything.
Otherwise, they wouldn't have
released you. Believe me.
That's easy for you to say.
I screwed up. I screw
Marco, listen to me.
Okay? You are going home now.
From now on, you make shampoos.
And stay away from Bouman.
Hi.
Well
Hey, what's going on?
What did Lars tell you?
Everything.
Why you came to the campground.
That you were looking for Jason and Davy.
Then I did some research myself
to know what you did in Amsterdam.
And more people died there.
I saw a picture of you,
Fer, with my own eyes.
Our relationship is based on lies.
You are
You are a murderer.
That
That
was before.
I'm not no longer like that.
It all changed.
You changed me.
It doesn't change what happened.
I did that
to protect Lars.
To protect you.
And Arie Tack? Lars says
that he's dead too. Is that true?
I didn't do that.
I didn't know
that that was going to happen.
Are you still in business
with those who did it?
Well?
Then nothing has changed.
If you want
me to stop,
I'll stop everything, today.
If I want that?
-What about you?
-If How does that matter?
I fell in love with a man
who does not exist.
I don't even know who you are.
I don't want my baby
to grow up in that environment.
Your baby? That's my baby too, okay?
-Let go. I'm leaving.
-You stay.
-Let me go.
-Everything okay?
-Mind your own business. Fuck off.
-Ma'am?
It's fine. Ferry!
Do I speak Chinese? Fuck off.
Okay, but let go of her.
-Fuck off!
-Ferry, go away!
-We stay until we're done talking.
-We are done.
The lady is very clear.
Stop it, Fer! Knock it off!
-What happened?
-I want to go, now.
Here, honey.
Oh, honey.
Well, honey, if I were you, I would put
something on it, because otherwise
In the fridge, in the bottom drawer,
is an ice pack. I'll be right there.
There you are.
Where were you?
Why don't you pick up your phone?
Working on those papers.
The whole time?
And
I was brainstorming about new shampoos.
And I was thinking
apple with cinnamon.
Apple and cinnamon?
Yeah Jonagold. Just because it's sweet.
We're in a big crisis.
Danielle just broke up with Ferry.
-What?
-Yes. It's terrible.
He flipped out in Maasmechelen Village.
Did Danielle say why he flipped out?
No. Still nothing.
And you?
What? Why?
I mean, did you hear from Ferry?
It's a question.
Hey, are you okay?
Yes, no. It's just a lot.
-A cup of tea?
-Oh nice. Thanks.
What happened?
Nothing.
Did Ferry do that?
It was an accident.
Gee, Danielle
Sabien told me about the break-up.
Hey, how are you?
Is it for real?
Completely over?
This may sound selfish.
With everything that happened,
I was wondering if it had to do with
Ferry's work.
-Because I'm part of that.
-You should have thought of that before.
So it has to do with it.
Did Ferry do something stupid?
Something that can get me in trouble?
That mess with Arie Tack, was Ferry
Ferry is not who you think he is.
At least, he's not who I thought he was.
I don't want
to have anything to do with it anymore.
And you'd better put a stop to it too.
And tell Sabien.
Because I'm done lying to her.
-Danielle, Sabien cannot know.
-Marco, it has to stop.
Over and done. Sabien is my friend, okay?
If you don't do it, I'll tell her.
Listen carefully.
What?
Fuck off, man!
-Hey, Ferry, my man.
-What is this crap?
-There's nothing going on.
-I don't have time for this nonsense.
I had to know if I could trust you.
You're a man of your word.
-Now we're in business.
-With whom? With this meatball here?
Jerry? He works at the airport.
I thought it'd be funny,
make it more authentic.
Shut up, man!
-Fuck off.
-We've got a lot to celebrate.
-There's nothing to celebrate.
-I called Tack's list.
Sold 30 million pills.
Are you still thinking about the wifey?
We're going to Rio, New York,
Tokyo. Fuck those bitches.
The world is ours.
One hundred
and fifty million euros, Ferry.
Come on, let's party.
Nice, isn't it?
What is it?
Nothing.
Can't I look at the love of my life?
Grootaers, what's going on?
You've been weird all afternoon.
Not at all.
Jonagold.
Really, Marco.
Come on, out with it. I don't want us
to keep secrets from each other either.
Sabby, baby.
"Sabby, baby"
Last time you said that
was when you had your license suspended.
What is it now?
You have to promise that you'll
allow me to explain everything.
Sab, promise me.
Yeah, okay.
-I promise.
-And don't get angry.
Okay? I know
that I'm a stupid asshole. I know it.
Marco, wait, you are scaring me.
I'm in deep shit.
With Marcosmetics.
The sassafras,
I bought it on Ferry's request.
And that oil
is not only used for shampoo,
but one can also
make Ecstasy with it.
What?
And the police found out
that some barrels are missing.
What? Did you sell
those to drug lords or something?
Sabby, Ferry makes the Ecstasy.
I thought, we're buddies, we help
each other and I can earn some extra cash.
Did you lose your mind?
The police know about it?
Marco?
-They know about it.
-And what do they know?
Everything.
How can you be this stupid? And why?
We have everything! How stupid are you?
I know.
What now?
Do you go to jail?
I'm afraid so.
I'm afraid that I destroyed
everything we worked for.
But they proposed a deal
to cooperate, but that means
that I have to betray Ferry.
-I hope you said "yes".
-But I can't do that.
Ferry is a buddy.
-A buddy? Hello, what about us?
-Shush, baby.
Is that why Danielle left Ferry?
I don't know.
I really don't.
But she knew about this?
But she didn't want to.
Danielle didn't want to lie to you.
Does she know about you?
About the police?
No.
No, she doesn't know about that.
I knew that Ferry was no saint, but this
Honey, I didn't know how to tell you.
I didn't know how to tell you.
Leave.
Leave.
And don't come back
until you've taken that deal.
All right, Mr. Grootaers,
what will it be?
If you promise to leave
me and my wife alone
I will help you get Ferry Bouman.
