Law & Order: Organized Crime (2021) s04e04 Episode Script

The Last Supper

1
In the nation's largest city,
the vicious and violent
members of the underworld
are hunted by the detectives
of the Organized Crime Control Bureau.
These are their stories.
So I was thinking about
having a big dinner.
- Invite everyone.
- What's the occasion?
I thought it'd be a
nice send off for Mom.
I don't want to have
this discussion right now.
[DRAMATIC MUSIC]
Am I suspended?
Desk duty.
I'm happy to lend you Officer Bashir.
This guy just waltzes in here,
and you just hand him the keys.
Los Santos.
They're the top fentanyl distributors
on the eastern seaboard.
I've been trying to find
the lab, shut it down.
Stabler.
You've been made.

Fentanyl lab bust was a big get for OC,
but if you want me to build a case
against the entire Los
Santos operation, I need more.
I need a witness. High level.
Willing to play "Let's
Make a Deal," you know?
We almost had one.
Cesar Pescador, the boss man of the lab.
What, a machete-wielding skeeve?
He was gonna play ball?
Well, he died of fentanyl exposure
before I could ask him, but
- Well, that's ironic.
- Yeah.
He was a major shot
caller for Los Santos.
Word is that his brother Carlo
has taken over the operation.
- A family-run business, huh?
- Yeah.
Anyone close to the brother
who's willing to talk?
Well, not yet. I am
working on the widow.
So we'll see, but you know how it goes.
At the end of the day, family's family.
[SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC]

Where's your sister?
I don't know.
Kiki, I'm holding up the pickup line.
Where are you?
Uncle Carlo picked me
up. We're at Paulie G's.
Turns out, she married the nice brother.
The brother-in-law Carlo
is American educated,
ex-military, did off-the-books wet work
for the CIA and
Archivo-style death squads
in the Dominican Republic over turf.
He's known for his
torture techniques
bore drill, blowtorch.
So needless to say,
he's got the widow scared silent.
Look what Uncle Carlo got me.
It's very pretty.
You need to ask me
before picking up Kiki.
School has protocols.
I just wanted to surprise
my favorite sobrina.
Wait in the car with your brother.
Yeah.
[TENSE MUSIC]

Sit.
Sit down.

I have to ask you a question.
Have you been loyal?
How could you ask me such a question?
I hear things. I see things.
I'm not as trusting as my brother was,
may God rest his soul.
So I have to ask you again, Bryanna.
Have you been loyal?
[WHISPERING] Of course I have.
Good.
Los Santos will take care of you
if you take care of us.

I don't understand why
anything has to change.
Uncle Carlo said he'll take care of us.
No.
Never.
You can't do this on your own.
You need help.
Listen, you get me a big
fish who's willing to testify,
I will go scorched earth on
the entire Los Santos operation.
[PHONE RINGING]
Hey, Bryanna. Thanks for calling.
I'll testify for you.
But you have to promise to keep us safe.
Absolutely.
I-I'll come to you.
All right. Stay put. Bye.
Just got your whale.

[TENSE MUSIC]

Bryanna Pescador has been in and around
the Los Santos family
business since she was 17.
Child bride.
And we need to keep her
and her two children safe
until the morning.
Then state troopers
will come, pick them up,
and escort them to D.C.,
where she will testify
in front of a grand jury.
All right, let's get going.
Where are you going?
You're not going nowhere.
You're working remote
backup with Vargas.
Sounds like you're gonna need all
the help you can get on this one.
Mm-hmm. We have Detective Bashir.
[SOFT TENSE MUSIC]
Detective?
I asked that Sam be
bumped up to join our team.
Promotion came through this morning.
- Congrats.
- Thanks.

I was hoping for a little more.
Me, too, but this all
went down a few hours ago,
so this is what we got.
Agent Babcock, Agent Lee,
you guys watch the outside perimeter.
Thanks for joining us.
- Detective Stabler.
- Hey, Bryanna.
Detectives Slootmaekers and Bashir.
- Jet.
- Sam.
They're gonna be with us all night.
Why are you here?
What's going on? Why
are you in my house?
- I'll tell you later.
- Tell me now.
I don't like your tone.
I don't like strangers in my house.
Listen to me, Kiki, you
cannot speak to these people
Bryanna wanted to
wait until we were here
for when she told the kids.
[SPEAKING SPANISH]
Okay, you, Sam, and
Jet secure the house.
Mm-hmm.
[KNOCKS ON DOOR] Hey. You must be Lucas.
Cool medallion. What is it?
Saint Jude.
Oh, yeah? That's my patron saint.
Saint of Lost Causes.
Ha, yeah.
Did your dad hate you too?
No, I don't think so.
Huh.
[SOFT TENSE MUSIC]

We're all going to Washington
D.C. in the morning.
What? Why? Is this about Uncle Carlo?
These detectives are here to
keep us safe until we leave.
No one leaves the house tonight.
And we need your cell phones
and all your electronic devices.
No way.
[BOTH SPEAKING SPANISH]
Just give it back. I
won't use it, I promise.
Even if your phone is turned
off, it can still be traced.
If my dad were alive,
he'd peel your face off
and put it on a soccer ball.
I'm so sorry.
I'll go talk to her.
It's a lot to take in.
Jet, keep your eye on that kid.
Joy.

What are you doing here?
What do you mean what am I doing here?
It's my case.
Yeah, that's exactly why
you can't be here right now.
You were undercover with Los Santos.
You played a role in
their father's death.
You shouldn't be
anywhere near this family.
Wait a minute. Wait a minute.
Bryanna called me. She trusts me.
It compromises the case.
I built this case.
I buried a CI because of this case.
Elliot, I have to agree.
If the ADA doesn't want you
here, you cannot be here.
Ayanna,
you have to let me see this through.
This case has to be unimpeachable.
I'll talk to Bryanna.

Stabler's coming out.
Copy that.
I'm sorry.
I know you wanted to see this through.
It's not just that.
Bryanna's putting herself
and her family on the line
for this case, for me.
Bryanna's a mom doing
what's best for her kids.
I'll keep you updated.
I know you will. Thanks.
- Hey.
- Huh?
At least you get to do
that thing with the fam.
Ah.
Oh!
Thought you couldn't make it.
Some big important case.
Yeah, well, I worked it out, so.
- Eli, my grandson
- Well, great.
- Listen, uh
- My granddaughter.
Sharon and Dee still
refuse to get on a plane,
so I figured we'd FaceTime them later.
Good. Well, Mom will like that.
Elliot.
I couldn't forget him if I tried.
Maureen.
See?
It's a good thing we're
doing this now before pfft.
How'd the interview go?
Bryanna's gonna be an excellent witness.
Testimony will blow
the lid off Los Santos.
Wants total immunity from prosecution,
a total vanishing act with wit pro.
Oh, witness protection.
That's a big step.
Yeah, she's pretty shook up about it.
Doesn't know how to tell the kids.
I'll help her with that.
Good.
Tell the agents I'm coming out, please.
Yeah.
Babcock, Lee,
ADA Carisi is on his way out.
- Escort him to his car.
- Copy.
[LINE TRILLS]
I told you he'd be on his phone.
Hey, you guys.
Come over and give me a hand.
How you doing?
What's up, boss?
Stabler, are you there?
Reyes, how's the camera set up?
Good. Clear as day.
All right, have Vargas
check traffic cams
for LPs of any moving vehicles
within a half-mile radius.
On it!
What happens to all our stuff?
You each can pack one
bag to take with you,
and then the FBI will ship the rest.
What about school?
You'll have to enroll in a new one.
I'm in the musical. I'm
playing Sandy in "Grease."
I hope they take us someplace warm.
Lucas, shut up!
Oh, my God, what about my boyfriend?
Kiki, I need you to understand
how important this is,
how serious this is.
Once you go into witness protection,
you have to cut off all ties.
I need you to tell me
you understand that.
This is a nightmare.

I wouldn't mind being someone else.
[TENSE MUSIC]

Thanks.
Hey, honey.
Be warned, we just came
from a birthday party
at Dave and Buster's.
Expect an epic sugar
crash in about 30 minutes.
Oh, thanks for the warning.
[ALL YELL]
Make that two minutes.
Hey, guys, I got to make a call.
Hold on a second. Just one second.
Vargas, hey.
That, uh, little magic box of yours,
can it tap into all the
home security cameras
- in the neighborhood?
- Yeah.
But is that legal?
It will be by the time you do it.
I'll get an after-the-fact
warrant. Just do it.
Hey, guys, let's say
hi to G-Ma Bibi, okay?
Ma, your favorite great grandsons,
Seamus and Kieran are
here. They need a hug.
Hello, boys.
Hello there.
I'm so glad you're here.
Where are you going with those?
Going to grill them.
No, no. I do the grilling around here.
I did the seasoning.
My house. I grill.
Well, don't overdo them, all right?
I won't overdo them. I
know how to grill the steak.
- Like a medium rare.
- I know how to grill a steak.
Do you?
[ALL YELLING]
Look at this guy.
Mr. Popularity.
I wish I had a back like that again.
You guys are monsters!
[LAUGHS] I wish I had
hair like that again.
I gotta go say hi to Mama.
Please know who he is.
Nope. Not a clue.
Joe. [LAUGHS]
Oh, I'm so glad you're here.
He got her a present?
This is for you.
For me?
Man, what a suck-up. Jesus.
Kiki wants to gouge your
eyes out for taking her phone.
I don't blame her.
Check on Lucas.
[KNOCKS]
All right, "Savage City."
Cool.
It's more fun to harvest
the mutant babies.
You're gonna upgrade faster.
Damn!
Can you can you get
me past the turrets?
Yeah, sure.
Did I say you could come in?
You need to pack.
Can you show me how you do your makeup?
I'll show you the art of the smoky eye,
and then you pack.
Deal?
Blaster and
Boo.
[CREATURE SQUEALS]
Sweet.
I've been stuck on that forever.
I got you, bro.
And thanks for looking out for us.
Sure.
Hey, I, uh
look, man, I know how
hard it is to lose someone.
If you want to talk about it.
I used to pray that my dad would die.
I mean, is it wrong that
I'm happy that he's gone?
Does that make me a bad person?
No. I don't think so.
Hmm.
[PENSIVE MUSIC]

Did Detective Stabler
leave because of me?
You're not that scary.
Close your eyes.
I really feel bad.
I know he wants to protect us.
It's good you realize that.
Open.
It's all so horrible.
I know what my father was.
I know that he did bad
things and sold drugs.
Were you there when
Detective Stabler killed him?

I thought so.
Makeup tutorial's over.
Pack your bag.

- Hey.
- Hey.
Nice place you got here. [CHUCKLES]
Yeah. We like it.
You and Ma.
Yep.
She's been here for a while now, yeah?
Yeah, but now she's, uh, you know,
wants to do the assisted living thing.
That'd be a load off.
I guess.
Mm.
You're not sure it's the right call.
Let's talk about you.
So what happened?
You mean, uh
Discharge.
Yeah.
I mean, dishonorable?
What the hell is that about?
[SIGHS]
So my platoon was
raiding houses one night.
One of them had a shelf
full of these trinkets.
So I put a few in my pack.
I figured I'd sell them when I got home.
I didn't know I was stealing
artifacts of cultural significance.
Which is what they charged me with.
So Army gave me a choice.
Do time in an Afghan prison
or the DD.
So Randall mentioned that
you're selling fine wine?
How'd you get that gig?
PBR is about as fancy as you get.
Hey, it's a legit job.
- Mm-hmm.
- I got medical. I got a car.
And I actually like selling wine.
I'm really good at it.
Good.
Um, tell me the truth.
About what?
It never was right, was it?
Enlisting.
The life.
The truth?
Nope.
I only did it 'cause of you.
What does that mean?
It means you were so cool.
You were such a badass over there.
I I wanted what you had.
I guess I
wanted to be you.

Is that why you didn't
call when you came back?
Yeah.
Let me tell you something.
Us Stablers tend to
shut people out
when we don't know how to handle things.
Yeah, you're right.
You gotta work on that, man.
Let's work on that.
Right.
Uh, put foil on that and let them rest.
Copy that.
Alert. Person detected.
[LINE TRILLS]
[PHONE CHIMES]
We got a person detected.
Got it.
It just came through on my phone.
What's the location?
The backyard.
Guys, I got a male
approaching the property line.
He's staking the east wall.
Jet, stay with the family.
Sam, come with me.
[DRAMATIC MUSIC]

Hands! Let me see your hands, now!
Who are you?
- Xander.
- What are you doing here?
I'm Kiki's boyfriend.
She texted me.
Please. Don't shoot.

[INDISTINCT CHATTER]
What was that alert?
Nothing. Just an uninvited guest.
And no, I don't need
you to rush over here.
[KIDS YELLING]
Grandma, this is Becky.
This is my grandma.
- Hi.
- Call me Bernie.
Wow, Eli.
Randall was right.
She's way out of your league.
[LAUGHTER]
Oh, no, thanks, honey.
Hey.
Whatever he's doing,
I'm sure it's very important, all right?
Don't let it bother you.
But it does bother me.
I just want him to be present.
Just be here with us.
[SOFT PENSIVE MUSIC]

Where'd you get this burner?
The bodega across from school.
Look, I only texted Xander.
I don't believe you.
You're calling me a liar? Mom.
Look, Xander's just Kiki's
boyfriend from down the street.
Does he have any ties
to the family business?
No, he's a trust fund kid.
How compromised are we?
It was only one text chain?
As far as we know.
Percentage-wise, the
odds are pretty low.
I mean, I'm not saying it's zero,
but it's pretty darn low.
Tell Vargas I'll send the
data from Kiki's burner
to the cloud and he can
run a diagnostic on it.
On it.
Okay.
I know, sweetie. I know.
There's a DVD of
"Encanto" in Eli's room.
- All right.
- Oh, there he is.
Don't let G-Ma eat that all.
Okay.
Hey, I don't think we've met.
- Excuse me.
- Hi.
- I'm Eli's dad.
- It's nice to meet you.
It's nice to meet you.
I love your place.
Oh, thanks.
Yeah, well, we're glad you're here.
Um, where's the restroom?
I'll show you.
Hey.
So, uh,
what is it?
What's what?
Well, you go fishing with
Uncle Randall, I hear.
And he tells me all
about your girlfriend.
Who, by the way, is lovely.
Leaving me out in the dark?
You don't listen.
What does that mean?
What's my new major?
Communications.
What's my position on the soccer team?
Forward.
I quit two months ago.
It's like you're always at work.
Even tonight. I mean,
you're not really here.
No, I'm here. I'm here. I'm here.
But yeah, you're right.
I have I've been on the phone.
But I'm telling you, I got to check in.
Dad, it's not okay.

All right, everybody. Dinner's ready.
Come on, let's sit down.
Don't want those steaks to get cold.
You need wine.
I got it.

It's gonna be okay, babe.
Don't touch me.
Would anyone like more mac and cheese?
How can you do this to us?
I wouldn't.

I'm ruining their lives.
So I go into Sharon and
Dee's room, and there's
there's Elliot.
What were you, like, five?
- Four.
- Four.
Oh, only four.
And he's got makeup all
over his face, right?
And he's wearing a jumper
and some of Mom's old boots.
And he's got this toy ukulele.
And he's singing, "I think
I love you," and I'm like
I was Susan Day of the Partridge Family.
You were. You were Susan Day.
Oh, I remember.
I remembered what I wanted to say.
Okay.
No. No, I
I remember.
I wanted to apologize.
Apologize for what?
You know, for what happened.
For the reason that you
sent me the bus tickets.
You know, we don't need to do that now.
Yes, now.
Ma, Ma, Ma, you're getting worked up.
We'll talk about it later.
Now, don't talk to me like I'm a child.
I can still smack you upside
the head, you know, mister.
Wow, Ma.
God. Yeah. Timing.
Timing, Ma.
[CLEARS THROAT]
- [COMPUTER CHIRPS]
- Daughter texted someone else.
- Alert.
- I got motion alerts here.
[TENSE MUSIC]
Hey, what's going on?
I just got five alerts.
You're cutting out. Not sure.
Maybe
Hello?
Can you hear me?
Hello?
Babcock, Lee, come in.
[GUNFIRE]

You want to do this in
front of everybody, huh?
Yes, I want everybody to know the truth.
And you want them to know
what happened with me too?
- Yes.
- What are you talking about?
Quiet.
I want the whole family to know
what really happened, God damn it.
[WHISPERING] Get the kids.
No, no, no. You're not going anywhere.
- Sit down.
- Sit down.
I want I want everybody
to know the truth.
I'm sorry, Randall.
I'm sorry that I threw
you out of the house.
No mother should ever do that.
Mama, you didn't throw Randall out.
- He left.
- No.
No, that's not what happened.
He didn't leave. I kicked him out.
[SOFT TENSE MUSIC]
Um, okay.
So, uh
and you haven't told me this
why didn't you tell me this?
'Cause then I'd have to tell you why.
- So tell me why now.
- Why don't you two
- Shut up, Joey.
- Why don't you stay out of it?
Okay, all right.
Come on.
You don't know? You can't figure it out?
- No.
- I thought you're supposed to
be some kind of super
cop, little brother.
Oh, man, okay, so
you're gonna be an ass?
- Okay.
- Oh, hey!
Hey, stop the presses.
Detective Stabler solved the case.
Randall's an ass.
That the best you got?
You remember those days, huh?
All the all the crap that
was going on in that madhouse.
Mm-hmm.
What was going on?
Pop was drinking a lot.
Yeah, he was drinking a lot.
And you know why he was drinking a lot?
Because he got suspended for misconduct.
Yeah.
Somebody called the Internal
Affairs and told him all the
the nastiness he was into.
Guess who that was?

Me.
I did it.
I ratted Pop out.
Okay, Ma? You happy?
Why would you do that?
Jesus Christ.
Who's the ass now?
'Cause good old Dad
was beating the crap out of
this woman on a nightly basis.
He just did it where it didn't show.
And you were too goddamn
young and stupid to notice.
[SOBBING] No, he wasn't stupid.
I didn't allow it.
I put my foot down
because he was too young.
- [PHONE RINGING]
- I don't care, Ma.
He should have known.
But he was just too selfish.
You were too selfish.
You thought Dad only had
it out for you, right?
And then when the going got
tough, where did you go, huh?
You ran off to your teeny
bopper girlfriend's house.
Or to football or to the Marines.
Don't hand that to me.
All you had to do was tell me.
You would have taken Dad's side!
Say that to me again. Get off me.
Say that to me again.
Yeah, you would have taken Dad's side.
Look at you. All you
want to do is be him.
And look at you now.
Dad. Dad!
- What?
- A Detective Reyes for you.
100 bucks, he takes the phone call.
Who's in? Come on, who's in?
Therapy's really working well for you.
Yeah. Take the phone call, Detective.
Why are you calling me on my landline?
You weren't picking up.
We lost contact with the house.
Didn't you get the alarms?
[TENSE MUSIC]
Give me the phone.
Come and get it, Batman.
[GLASS BREAKING]
- God.
- Give me the phone.
This isn't a game.

Now we're leaving.
[SIREN WAILING]
ESU team, local PD and a
bus are on their way now.
Good. So what do we got? Talk to me.
DWP says a transformer blew a
few blocks away from the house
and it knocked out the power grid.
That's got to be Los Santos.
Look, this was a very
sophisticated operation.
They managed to take down a
cell tower at the same time.
How far out are you?
Almost there, Bobby.
It's gonna be all right.
Just hurry.
[POUNDING]

[GUNSHOTS]
Move left, move left, move left!
[GUNFIRE]

[GUNSHOTS] [GLASS SHATTERS]
[SHRIEKS]

[GUNFIRE]
[YELLS]
Ah. I'm out. I'm out!
I'm almost there.
[GUNFIRE]
Police, don't move!
[GUN CLICKS]
- Sarge, it's me!
- You all right?
Yeah. Don't move!
Any others?
No, we're all clear.
[GROANING]

All clear.
Come on.
It's safe to go downstairs.
You're okay.

Ooh. Hey, Lucas. It's okay.
Give me the gun. You're safe.
My father wasn't safe.
No, we're not safe.
This is for Papi!
[GUNSHOT]
Lucas!
I'm shot.
Sam! Sam! Call a bus!
Lucas! [SHOUTING IN SPANISH]
Bus! Get the bus!
Lucas, wake up!
[EXCLAIMING IN SPANISH]
Lucas! [SPEAKING SPANISH]
[APPREHENSIVE MUSIC]

Uh
I know, I know.
I know.
Hey.
Uh, surgery went well,
but she lost a lot of blood.
Ayanna's gonna be okay, though.
Yeah, she'll be out
of it for a few hours,
but she's gonna have a road ahead.
You know, rehab and whatnot.
- You call her ex?
- Mm-hmm. Denise knows.
Good.
Captain's been
temporarily assigned to us,
stepping in for Bell.
I think she wants an update.
Update, right.

The family?
Kiki and Bryanna are
at a secure location.
State troopers will be
picking them up in a few hours.
The Feds are trying to
figure out what to do
with Lucas and the boyfriend.
I'm glad the widow is
still gonna testify,
- all things considered.
- Me too.
Speaking of which, I'll
need your gun and shield.
You assaulted a minor.
We're talking about the
minor who shot my sergeant?
You threw him down a flight of stairs
and fractured his skull.
I know the circumstances
and you know the politics.
As of now, you're suspended,
pending an IAB investigation.

- Hey.
- Hey.
Got your text about Mom.
Yeah, she thought you could use a break,
and Kathleen was jazzed to
have her for a few nights.
Let me ask you something.
Um
Are you, um, buying the
- Joe Junior story?
- Yeah.
Not even a little bit.
There's something going on there.
Absolutely.
So all this time, you just let me think
that you were a selfish prick, huh?
Well.
We all have our cross to bear.
You know, I went down to Sharon
and Dee's place in Florida,
and that's when I sent Mom
the bus tickets, you know.
It was, uh, me trying to save her.
And you.
But she never used them.
And of course, I wasn't
gonna punish her more
by telling the world
that she kicked me out.
I mean, that'd be embarrassing
for Mom, you know, so.
I got it, yeah.
You didn't tell me you ratted Dad out.
Well
I guess my, uh, good intentions
went ass over tea kettle.
How's the rest of your night?
My CO got shot.
You taking my phone had
nothing to do with it, but
Is he gonna be okay?
It's a she.
And yeah, I think so.
That's good.
So listen, Elliot, I've been thinking.
I'm gonna fly home, pack some stuff,
and come back here and stay awhile.
Here in this, uh, craphole city.
Help you with Mom moving into
that place and all, you know?
[SOFT PENSIVE MUSIC]

What's the matter, man?
Looks like I got myself
suspended tonight.
BOTH: Just like the old man did.
Want me to stay? I'll stay awhile.
- You know.
- No.
- No, I'll grab the couch.
- I'm fine. It's fine.
- Are you sure?
- It's fine.
All right.
Listen, just don't do anything
stupid like the old man did, okay?
What does that mean?
What do you mean, "What does that mean?"
No one ever told you?
Told me what?
That's a saga for another night.
Get some sleep, little brother.
