Lost in Space (2018) s02e01 Episode Script

Shipwrecked

1 [INSTRUMENTAL THEME MUSIC PLAYING.]
- [WOMAN.]
What was that? - [MAN.]
J2's no longer [OFFICER.]
Captain, I've lost contact with the Robinsons.
- [KAMAL.]
Anything? - [WOMAN.]
Radar is clear.
Wait contact.
Bearing zero-six-zero.
Potential conjunction.
What is that? [WHIMPERING.]
[GASPS.]
[EXHALES.]
[SIGHS.]
[EXHALES.]
Ready? The new potassium ratio seems to be working out.
It sure is.
[STRONG WIND WHISTLING.]
[JOHN.]
Think this'll work? [WILL.]
It's worth a try.
Wake up.
[PENNY.]
Mom! Get up here! [WILL.]
Hang on a sec.
Oh, come on.
This is both cruel and unusual.
Do you have any influence over them? [CHUCKLES.]
I try not to abuse my power.
["BABY PLEASE COME HOME" PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND.]
The snow's comin' down - This was your top secret project? - Mm-hmm.
I'm watchin' it fall It was easier getting a tree from a lot in Glendale.
[GASPS.]
This is the glowing moss from the shore.
- Look.
Kinda reminds me of you know who.
- Mm-hmm.
Maybe a little.
The church bells in town - Happy Holidays, everybody! - [PENNY.]
You look different.
Yeah, he finally showered.
I want to smell good for Santa.
- [PENNY.]
Can we open presents? - [MAUREEN.]
Yes! I wanna go first! I wanna go first.
Okay.
You guys, this right here is my very last bottle of whiskey.
I want you to have it, in case of an emergency.
We haven't had one of those in a while.
- [WHISPERS.]
Do we have to wait that long? - No.
[JOHN.]
Hey, Will.
Merry Christmas, buddy.
Thanks, Dad! - [PENNY.]
Present time! - [DON.]
Let's do this! Come on.
Wow.
[DON.]
Ooh.
[ALL LAUGHING AND CHUCKLING.]
- Time you learned how to drive.
- [JUDY CHUCKLES.]
I couldn't exactly wrap the Chariot.
- Nice! Yeah, buddy.
- Thanks, Dad.
Um, you don't actually need the key to drive, or lessons, or permission.
[EXHALES.]
This is for Penny.
Um, how is it for Penny if everyone but Penny gets one? [WILL.]
Here.
- [JOHN.]
Did she write this? - Thank you.
[WILL.]
So, um Penny's been writing kind of a memoir about our experience.
It's really good, so I published it.
- Wow! - Wow! Are we really doing this? It's called Lost in Space.
Hmm, good title.
"Our Jupiter was hurtling through the atmosphere at 25 times the speed of sound.
We were going to crash but for me this wasn't the scary part.
The scary part happened long before anything went wrong, when we were sailing merrily on a trip to Alpha Centauri, because the idea of space has scared me for as long as I can remember".
Is that true? [WILL.]
No interrupting.
"I always thought space was darker than dark and colder than cold, and worst of all, empty.
I can't think of a lonelier place.
My mom thinks that space isn't empty after all.
That it's filled with dark matter we just can't see.
I'm not a scientist like her.
I don't believe in things just because they make the equations add up.
I need to learn things for myself and that's where the trouble always starts.
But I'm getting ahead of myself.
This is the story of discovery but not of strange new worlds.
It's about discovering what's in the places you thought were empty.
Sometimes it's the invisible force of my family pulling at me, even when I can't see them reminding me [EXHALES.]
that I'm never really alone.
And sometimes it's about discovering horrible monsters that want to bite your face off".
- [ALL LAUGHING.]
- [KNOCKING.]
During World War I there was one Christmas where the French and the Germans decided to stop shooting at one another and came out of the trenches to celebrate together.
Peace on Earth.
You know? We're not on Earth.
I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
Now you have.
[ALARM SOUNDING.]
Is that the breach alarm? On it.
[STRONG WIND BLOWS.]
[JOHN.]
How we doin'? [JUDY.]
Still in the green.
The winds are starting to shift, though.
I think monsoon season's finally coming.
[DON.]
Methane monsoon season.
[JOHN.]
There'll be fewer rocks blown at us when the wind's blowing from the sea.
Anybody else think it's ironic that on the last planet we were marooned because we ran out of fuel and on this planet we have the fuel for air, but no way to use it? - I don't believe in irony.
- Which is, in fact, ironic.
Hey, Will.
You ready to roll? Hey, untense your shoulders.
Relaxed arms means more control.
- Okay.
- [VEHICLE RATTLES.]
Don't pump the brakes unless you wanna stop.
Yeah, okay.
Say, why don't we give it some more gas? Gas? It's an expression from when I was young.
Means more acceleration.
Oh.
Why'd you do that? You don't need to look at the speed right now.
I just want you to get a feel for the machine.
Yeah.
Feel for the machine.
How's this? You're doing great.
[PENNY.]
Hey! - I'll race you.
- Penny.
[JUDY.]
Give him a break.
He doesn't want to hit anything.
[PENNY.]
There is nothing here to hit.
[DON.]
Your brother's a man after my own heart.
Not enough attention is paid in this family to the benefits of a cautious approach.
- [ALARM RINGING.]
- Huh.
It's time to take out the trash.
Hey, please be gentle.
Just a friendly reminder: these are the only ones we have left.
[DON.]
They barely charge our space suits and our oxygen-generating system.
How many of these is it gonna take for us to save enough power to actually take off? Well, given the Jupiter's full launch system requirement's in the 200-kilowatt range, you're gonna have to ask your mother.
Knowing her, she's probably still looking for a way to get us out of here.
Yeah, I hope so.
[MAUREEN.]
How was your lesson? You know, I'm, uh, just getting a feel for the machine.
Show's about to start.
[DOOR OPENS.]
What'd you get me for Christmas? [SCOFFS.]
This is what you give me every day.
Well, you did this to yourself.
Your mother must trust and depend on you a lot to give you such an important job as looking after me.
Yeah, it's right up there with mopping the floor - and cleaning out the carbon traps.
- [SCOFFS.]
I didn't realize you were so undervalued.
Doesn't seem fair.
Is that a new patch? Did that have anything to do with the alarm earlier? I just want to know how safe I am here.
You're as safe as you were yesterday, okay? - [STRONG WIND BLOWING.]
- [THUNDER RUMBLING.]
Here we go.
[WILL.]
Like clockwork, down to the minute every 23 days.
How is how is that possible? There's a remote spot in Venezuela where they have lightning storms in the exact time and place 265 days a year, and nobody knows why that happens either.
- They call it the Beacon of Maracaibo.
- [DISTANT THUNDER RUMBLING.]
And it's guided sailors for centuries.
If you have clouds and sun, or two suns, to heat them up, you're going to have lightning.
That much is true no matter where you are.
[DON SPEAKS INDISTINCTLY.]
[PENNY.]
You've got this.
You've got this whole puzzle.
- You're gonna figure it out.
- [DON.]
See, here's the thing - [JOHN.]
Hey.
- Hey.
[SIGHS.]
[DON.]
See, here's the thing, the trick about puzzles is that - Wait, hold on.
- Just finish that thought.
- You can keep going.
- Take your time.
It's fine.
[SIGHS.]
That was a good day.
Yeah, it was.
I've been thinking the lightning.
We could recharge the batteries then jumpstart the Jupiter.
We could get off this planet.
But to get to the storms, we'd have to fly.
No, we don't have to fly.
[SCOFFS.]
This is crazy.
People have been using this technology for thousands of years.
- Why are you bringing this up now? - The winds are changing and I I think we have a window.
And if we miss it, it's It's going to be another year.
This is about that thing in the garage.
That thing in the garage brought us halfway across the universe.
It's the only way we're gonna get to Alpha Centauri.
I thought you'd given up on it.
You don't have to understand a tool to use it.
The robot's engine is inert, it's as asleep.
and the last time it worked we were in space.
We just need to recreate those conditions.
And what if you still can't figure it out? Well, there are four other planets in this system.
I mean, maybe one of them is better.
I'm not risking the lives of our kids because things may be better.
Things can always be better, but sometimes you have to appreciate what you've got.
Our kids will never meet anyone new here.
No friends to confide in, or to challenge them or to understand them.
They'll never fall in love here.
They'll never have families of their own.
Babe, they'll never have what we have.
We have to leave.
[PENNY.]
That one We have to try.
I'm sorry.
It's too dangerous.
[SIGHS.]
It's too dangerous.
We'll revisit this in a year.
[SIREN BLARING.]
[SIGHS.]
[SNIFFLES.]
[EXHALES.]
[AIR BURSTING OUT RAPIDLY.]
No, no, no! [INHALES DEEPLY.]
[STRONG WIND BURSTING IN.]
[COUGHING.]
John? - [JUDY.]
Mom, what's going on? - John? - [JUDY.]
Mom? - [PENNY.]
Mom? - [WILL.]
Mom? - Dad? [STRONG WIND BURSTING IN.]
- John? - [PENNY, JUDY, WILL.]
Dad? [GRUNTING.]
[GRUNTING.]
Ah! Get my com pack.
[JUDY.]
Come on.
Come on.
- John, get out of there! - Dad! [PENNY.]
Dad! Dad, come on! Dad! [WILL.]
Mom! Dad! - Penny! Penny, help! - Go! Dad, please! - [GRUNTS AND GAGS.]
- [MAUREEN.]
John! - Dad! - [MAUREEN.]
Okay! [DON.]
Make sure you close it behind me, okay? [GRUNTING.]
[MAUREEN.]
Get back! [GRUNTING AND PANTING.]
John! - [GRUNTING.]
- Come on, John.
We gotta go, buddy.
- Get up, get up, get up.
Come on.
- [PENNY.]
Dad! I said get back! [DON.]
Come on! Okay.
- Hang on.
Come on, come on, come on.
- [GASPING AND GRUNTING.]
[INDISTINCT YELLING.]
- [JOHN GROANING.]
- [GRUNTING.]
[JOHN COUGHING AND GAGGING.]
- John! - [WILL.]
Is he okay? Is he okay? [JOHN GROANING AND COUGHING.]
[DON.]
Once the patch gave away the atmosphere just forced its way in, sharp as a knife.
How we gonna fix this? It'll be difficult.
We're leaving.
We are? [PENNY.]
We can do that? Tell them your plan.
[DON.]
What plan? [WILL.]
I got it.
[GRUNTING.]
[WILL.]
You got it? [GRUNTS.]
Where is it? - Have you seen the Jupiter flight manual? - I'm the flight manual.
- What do you need to know? - Okay.
This is Will Robinson of the 24th Colonist Group.
I'm making a record of this, because it seems we're the first humans to try and turn a spaceship into a sailboat.
[GRUNTING.]
[JOHN.]
Don! [DON.]
I'm trying! Won't you just give me a second.
[PENNY.]
I got it.
[JUDY.]
I got it.
I got it.
I got it.
Okay.
[MAUREEN.]
Be careful! Is that good? [ALL GRUNTING AND SIGHING.]
[MAUREEN.]
By historic standards, it's a pretty easy journey.
I'm hoping to achieve a speed of four to five knots.
At a hundred nautical miles per day, that'll make it a two-day trip.
Then we recharge the ship's battery in the middle of a giant lightning storm.
First, we need to get there.
It's basically a straight shot.
We have to avoid this archipelago here, because it has a pretty jagged coastline.
Um, how jagged? If we hit it, we sink.
Which is why we are gonna steer well clear of it.
You said the monsoon winds are changing by the day.
Aren't they gonna push us in the direction of the jagged coastline? Once the winds change, yes, but we have plenty of time to get there before that happens.
And luckily, your father has spent half of his life on boats, and he's a pretty seasoned captain.
We've been just a family for a while.
We have to remember how to be a crew again.
Tomorrow's a big day.
Let's get some rest.
[MAUREEN.]
Hey.
Practicing your knots with your gloves on? [WILL.]
Just trying to be prepared.
If we get the robot engine going, it can take us anywhere, right? Well, it should take us directly to the colony on Alpha Centauri.
I'm not going without him.
Um How would we even know where to look for the robot? It's not like he left you a map or breadcrumbs to follow.
Maybe he did.
They're just not on this tiny strip of beach.
Maybe they're out there.
How come she wrote more about you than me? Okay, okay, okay, okay.
That's enough.
- You know that's Daddy's special juice.
- [CHICKEN CLUCKING.]
You're too young You made me look good.
Artistic license.
God, it's been a while since I did anything worth writing about.
Do you really want to go that bad? I've been working my whole life for the opportunity to do something that actually matters.
[JUDY.]
Growing the perfect ear of corn isn't it.
Nah, I would've stayed.
[JUDY.]
Wanting to stay, it's different than being afraid to go.
I just, I don't want to go through it all again.
I don't want to wonder if someone's gonna have to save my life, or worse, if I have to save theirs.
I just want things to be normal.
Normal is out there somewhere.
We just have to find it.
Hey.
I won't let you flub up anything on deck.
By the way, I think Dad read it all in one sitting.
Is that Mom's copy? Um Yeah, I'm sure she'll get around to it.
[DEVICE RINGS.]
[SMITH.]
Where are we going? Come on.
You know, I'm a pretty good sailor myself.
Hm, I'll keep that in mind.
[DON.]
All right, Robinsons.
Everybody hold on tight.
Last chance.
You sure she'll float? She'll float.
[BREATHES HEAVILY.]
Anchors aweigh.
[JUDY.]
Whoa! [GRUNTS AND GASPS.]
Come on! [JOHN.]
Okay, everyone, man your stations.
We're trying to sail downwind without the use of a rudder, so you're gonna have to raise and lower the halyards to keep us on course.
[JUDY.]
Halyards? [JOHN.]
Ropes.
Work the sails up and down.
[PENNY.]
So halyard's just a fancy name for rope? Got it.
If the ship starts turning to port, you'll lower the starboard halyards, and vice versa.
[JOHN.]
Raise the halyards! [JUDY GRUNTING.]
[DON.]
I've gotta hand it to you, Maureen.
A million little details needed to make this voyage a success, and you thought of almost everything.
- Almost? - Almost.
[MUSIC PLAYING.]
Anyone know the fancy word for what we're doing right now? ["I JUST WANT TO CELEBRATE" PLAYING.]
Sailing.
I just want to celebrate Another day of livin' I just want to celebrate Another day of life I put my faith in the people Moving at a pretty good clip now.
You've gotta admit, it's pretty awesome, Penny.
[GROANS.]
Oh, God.
[GROANING.]
Mmm Penny? Penny? Round, round, round, round Round, round, round, round Don't go round [DISTANT KNOCKING.]
I'm not in the mood.
[SMITH.]
Put an earplug in one ear! What? [SMITH.]
Put an earplug in one ear.
It always works for me.
I'm not vomiting out of my ear.
[SMITH.]
It'll help with the motion sickness.
What have you got to lose? You've already lost your lunch.
[SIGHS.]
[SIGHS SOFTLY.]
[DISTANT RUMBLING.]
John? Can we increase the speed by a couple of knots? Why? Uh, the barometric pressure's dropping.
I I think there's a monsoon developing behind us.
[JOHN.]
Is that the electrical storm we're heading for? [MAUREEN.]
No.
This is something else.
Something we don't want any part of.
I can get you a couple of knots.
Then we'll be fine.
Hey.
It's so 19th century trying to guess oncoming weather with a thermometer, a wind gauge and a pressure reader.
[SCOFFS.]
How about a tomato? Oh, that would be perfect.
Oh, you're feeling better! Yeah, Dr.
Smith showed me this earplug thing and it worked.
You shouldn't listen to anything she says.
You know better.
Don't let her get in your head.
Well, I would still be vomiting.
Maybe you shouldn't be spending so much time with her.
[SIGHS.]
[DOOR OPENS.]
This isn't on the schedule.
The beans are gross, but everything else is good.
Thank you.
Thanks for the tip.
[DOOR OPENS.]
[DOOR CLOSES.]
Penny! [SMITH.]
Stop the ship! What? Why? Tell your dad to loft the sails! He needs to stop us now! - [LOUD CRASHING.]
- [WILL YELPS.]
[JOHN GRUNTING.]
God.
- [JOHN.]
Everyone okay? - [WILL.]
Yeah, yeah.
[EXHALES.]
What the hell did we hit? [WILL AND JOHN PANTING.]
[SIGHS.]
We always knew it was risky.
[PENNY.]
So, we're stuck here? [SIGHS.]
Right now we are.
[DON.]
I think we caught a break.
The hull seems to be intact, but in the meantime, let's not hit anything ever again.
The pressure's dropped a lot lower.
Okay, does everybody else know what that means? - The monsoon's coming.
- [DON.]
Couldn't have just said that? Look, if we're still stuck here when the monsoon hits, the ship's gonna totally crack apart.
Not necessarily "totally crack apart", maybe a little crack.
- I'll figure it out.
- Guys, let's go up on deck, draw in the sails.
Go on.
[SCOFFS.]
I'll go check on Ceedra.
Great talk, by the way.
[KNOCKING.]
If you have to go to the bathroom, just hold it.
[SMITH.]
I knew we were going to hit that reef.
I could see the cross-currents.
A good sailor can do that.
No knock on your husband.
Oh, you're a sailor? How did you learn to sail? What does it matter if I can help? I don't believe a word you say.
[SMITH.]
Ask Penny.
I can be useful! You're not getting out of there no matter how hard you try.
Hey, look.
I know you're cranky and overworked, okay? I've been there.
That's why I need you to hold on a little bit longer.
Hm? Come on, baby, we all need to keep breathing.
That's why I'm asking you.
Give me a little more.
[CHUCKLES.]
Hey, Debbie, can you believe I'm sweet talkin' a carbon dioxide removal assembly? [DEBBIE CLUCKING.]
[CHUCKLES.]
Now I'm talking to a machine and a chicken.
I really need to get outta here.
- [PENNY.]
How long have we been here? - [JUDY SIGHS.]
Too long.
Didn't the robot call this place "danger"? Yeah.
- We never should have left.
- That's not helping.
Someone needed to say it.
Guys Guys, look.
What is it? No way! - [PENNY.]
Did you call him here to help us? - [JUDY.]
He's here? [PENNY.]
Hey.
Hey, Will.
I thought it was him, too.
[BOTH SIGH.]
I've been talking to Don.
And, uh, we think we can scrape together enough power for a two-second burn.
[SIGHS.]
Might be enough to push us clear.
That's it.
Really? That's the answer? No.
You and Don are the answer.
We are? [DON GRUNTING.]
Using the popouts is a hell of a way to lever us off the reef.
[JOHN GRUNTING.]
It's my own fault for being the strongest guy here.
You're a close second.
[LOUD CRASHING.]
[MAUREEN.]
Whoa! We're free! At least we won't be here when the storm hits.
No, we'll be out there.
- Any chance we can outrun it? - Not anymore.
Suit up.
Crew on deck.
- [STRONG WIND WHISTLING.]
- [THUNDER RUMBLING.]
[JOHN.]
Reef the sails! [PENNY AND WILL GRUNTING.]
[PENNY.]
Hold on to me.
[JOHN.]
We're gonna have to weather this storm out the best we can.
[JUDY.]
Okay.
- [WILL GRUNTS.]
- [BREATHING HEAVILY.]
That is exactly what I wanted to avoid.
[DON.]
We have a problem.
What is it? When we hit the reef it seems we sprung a leak after all, and it's dripping into Ceedra.
If that shorts out, we're dead.
I like breathing as much as you do.
Can you patch it? I'm working on it.
Just promise me we won't hit anything else.
[SIGHS.]
We won't hit anything else.
Look, Ceedra.
If we could just hold on together until the storm passes, - I would really ap - [SIREN BLARING.]
Okay, that's not holding it together, baby! [STRONG WIND WHISTLING.]
All right, I'm done! You're doing a great job! - Okay, we're we're done here! - [JOHN.]
Head down below.
[PENNY.]
Oh, God.
[JOHN.]
Hey, Jude, take my hand.
Come on.
[STRONG WIND HOWLS.]
[JOHN.]
Will! Get down! [PENNY SCREAMING.]
Will! [WILL.]
Dad! Will! [WILL.]
Dad! [GRUNTS.]
Come on! Will! [JUDY.]
Will! - [GRUNTS.]
- [PENNY.]
Come on, Will! Got him? You got him.
Okay, we've got him.
Dad, hold your breath.
Hold your breath.
We need to get them inside! [PENNY.]
Mom! Mom! We need you in the med bay! [KIDS GRUNTING.]
- [PENNY.]
Dad? - [JUDY.]
You're gonna be okay.
[PENNY.]
Ah! I've gotta get back up there! Oh, no, you will not! We have to sail the ship! - We don't know how to sail in this.
- Mom! We need your help! - [PENNY.]
What do we do? - [WILL.]
Mom? Mom? [PENNY.]
What do we do? [WILL.]
Mom! You really know how to sail? We're wasting time.
If this is another lie, it'll be your last.
[PENNY.]
Well, this is a sign of the Apocalypse.
[ALL GRUNTING.]
[DISTANT THUNDER RUMBLING.]
[SMITH.]
Oh! [BREATHING HEAVILY.]
[MAUREEN.]
Smith, what do we do? [THUNDER RUMBLING.]
Smith! I knew this was a mistake! - Raise the sails.
- But we just brought them down! We need speed! We're too close to the rocks already.
We need to go around.
We can't go around! - We have to go through! - [PENNY.]
Through rocks? Raise the sails! Let's go! - [THUNDER RUMBLING.]
- [STRONG WIND HOWLS.]
- [PENNY.]
Judy! [GASPS.]
- [JUDY.]
Hey! Penny, hold on! Hey, I can't do this without you.
[BREATHING HEAVILY.]
Yeah, okay.
Yeah, I'm getting up.
[JUDY.]
Smith! - [SMITH.]
Go! - Go! [GRUNTS.]
Good? [MAUREEN SCREAMS.]
[GASPS.]
[PANTING.]
Gotcha.
We need to get the sail up now! Raise the sails! - [THUNDER RUMBLING.]
- [STRONG WIND HOWLS.]
- [WHEEZING.]
- Dad! [GRUNTS AND COUGHS.]
Are we going faster? [STRONG WIND CONTINUES.]
[JOHN.]
Maureen, what's happening? We're picking up speed.
[COUGHS.]
[MAUREEN.]
Yeah, I know.
[SIGHS.]
Be careful.
We're way past that but I appreciate the sentiment.
You look worried.
[SIGHS.]
That's just my normal face now.
Hey, Will, I trust your Mom.
[COUGHS.]
But Mom's not in charge anymore.
- [DISTANT RUMBLING.]
- [STRONG WIND HOWLING.]
John We need to shift the weight to leeward.
Get the load side lower any way you can! The Chariot.
[LOUD CRASHING.]
[JOHN.]
The Chariot weighs two tons.
[GRUNTS.]
Dad! Dad, are you okay? - You're gonna have to do this.
- I am? Turn radius is tight, so you're gonna have to floor it.
But I'll crash.
Yeah.
Put your seat belt on.
And Will don't overthink it.
Go! [JUDY.]
We're not gonna make it! [ALL PANTING.]
[EXHALES.]
No thinking.
- [SMITH.]
Pull! - Pull! [MAUREEN AND SMITH.]
Pull! [MAUREEN AND SMITH.]
Pull! Pull! - [MAUREEN.]
Oh! - [LAUGHING.]
That's the power of teamwork.
You do know how to sail! Sometimes I actually tell the truth.
Hey, Will! You okay? What happened? I gave it gas.
- [CHUCKLES.]
- [LAUGHS.]
Come on.
[COUGHS.]
[WILL.]
Judy! - [GASPS.]
- That's sailing.
Good job.
- [PENNY, JUDY, WILL BREATHING HEAVILY.]
- [COUGHING.]
Are you okay? Lungs'll heal.
My legs are tired.
And my arms are tired.
And there are parts of my body that I was previously unaware of that are very tired.
[SIGHS.]
Well, you did good.
[BREATHES HEAVILY.]
Yeah, 'cause you were there.
I'm happy to report that I've repaired Ceedra.
- [SIGHS.]
- That's right, Judy, I am amazing.
And in an evident karmic exchange, this space ghost over here trashed the Chariot.
Nice work.
Thanks.
Wow! Let's all remember this moment, you know, - in case she wants to yell at me again.
- [COUGHS.]
I've secured the deck.
[JUDY.]
Okay.
[EXHALES.]
I know what you're thinking, Maureen.
How could I have gotten these burns? What if the greenhouse contamination wasn't an accident? What if someone peeled off the patch on purpose? But if that were even possible, it would mean for the last seven months I wasn't as locked up as you thought.
Maybe someone like me, who's been incarcerated a few times, would be able to break out; come and go as I please and you would never know.
If any of that were true, you'd owe me, Maureen.
We've gotten everything we both wanted.
John was never gonna leave that dirty scrap of land.
Because I was the bad guy you didn't have to be.
Not much point in locking me up anymore.
[SMITH EXHALES.]
[SMITH.]
Please, let me help.
I've been freeloading for months eating your delicious homegrown food.
So, what, now she's part of the family? Less work for me.
Yeah? You'd better watch yourself.
I don't want trouble.
Okay.
[SIGHS.]
So I learned how to drive.
And today, for the first time, I drove by myself.
I crashed.
I wish you'd been there to see it.
Everyone thinks the only reason I miss you is because you help us out of trouble but we do okay on our own.
I just miss you 'cause we're friends.
So, the whole reason I was crashing the Chariot is because we've been sailing across the ocean in the Jupiter with sails, real sails, if you can believe it.
Me, Judy and Penny made a pretty good crew until it was just me and Judy because Penny was too busy throwing up.
[CHUCKLES.]
[MAUREEN.]
We made it, babe.
Pretty soon, we're gonna be off this planet.
[JOHN.]
I didn't want it all to end.
[MAUREEN.]
We're surrounded by water we can't drink and air we can't breathe.
[JOHN.]
But we made our home here.
Finally, we were all together again.
[MAUREEN.]
We're still together.
[JOHN.]
Wait.
Do you see that? [MAUREEN.]
What is that? Are those more shoals? - [JOHN.]
I don't like this.
- [RUMBLING.]
[GASPS.]
We're caught in the current.
We've gotta slow down.
What are we looking at? Is that a waterfall? [WILL.]
Go! Go, go, go, go, go.
Come on, come on, come on! Strap in! - [PENNY.]
Hurry! - [LOUD CRASHING.]
Will, come on! Can we just get where we're going once without crashing? Everyone, hold on.
We're going over.
I love you guys.
[LOUD CRASHING.]
- [RUMBLING.]
- [BREATHING HEAVILY.]
[JUDY.]
Okay.
Hey, Penny? Penny, Will, are you okay? [PENNY.]
Yeah.
Yeah.
- Okay, we're good, right? - [JUDY.]
Belts off.
We gotta go.
- [JUDY BREATHING HEAVILY.]
Yeah.
- [WILL.]
Mom? Dad? Well we're here.
That looks like metal down there.
That's too straight.
That can't be natural.
No.
Somebody built this.
Who? [DRAMATIC MUSIC PLAYING.]
[SCRATCHING.]
[CLOSING THEME MUSIC PLAYING.]
