Motorcity (2012) s01e14 Episode Script

Like Father, Like Daughter

1x14 - Like Father, Like Daughter - There should be one here somewhere.
- Just find it already! I'm not sure I can stand much more of Texas and his gun-chucks.
Aha! Easy, Dutch.
Texas didn't smash your axle.
You can thank Kane and his bots for that one.
Kane.
Ooh! If I had him here Oh, yeah? Go on, I want to hear this.
What would you do to Kane if you had him in your hands right now? You know what I'd do? I'd cover him in paper-mache, hang him from the ceiling, and make the world's greatest pinata.
Not bad.
But consider freezing him in liquid nitrogen first so he'll shatter when you hit him.
- I hear ya.
- Lame.
Hoowa! Hoowa! You know what you should do? Put a rabid wolverine in the pinata with him.
When you hit it with a stick, it gets angrier and angrier.
Yeah-ha! And feed him a bunch of candy first so that when his guts explode, a bunch of treats come out! Whoo-hoo! Yeah! That's actually a good one.
Don't you think that's a little extreme? Extreme? No.
Extreme is Kane coming after us 24/7 trying to take us out.
That guy totally deserves whatever horrible - Oh, whoa.
- Whoo! Hey.
Hey, Dutch boy! Guess who found ya an axle? I don't believe it.
A tri-turbo straight six! Yeah! And this diesel fastback is in good shape.
Look at those curves! So sleek! They really knew how to shape a car back then.
This really is a gold mine.
The only question is: What do we do with the gold? Ooh! How about we weld 'em all together and make a big metal shark that eats robots? Yeah! Or we could, I don't know, give 'em to people here in Motorcity.
Man, Lisa.
You're bein' a real fun-kill.
Think about it.
There's a city full of people out there who live in fear of Kane.
They can't fight him, they can't run from his bots, all because they don't have cars.
You're right.
Let 'em take control of their lives, get out on the open road Feel the wind in their hair, feel the roar of freedom.
Cars used to be the soul of Motorcity.
It's up to us to get that back.
- For Motorcity! - Right on.
What about the metal shark? All right.
Let's pack these cars up and roll out.
How'd they find us? Burners, arm up! We're outnumbered! Fall back.
We've got a better chance outside.
What the heck is that? They're gone! All of them.
Score! But we didn't catch the Burners.
That's true, Tooley, we didn't catch the Burners.
But they led us to one heck of a consolation prize.
So? I thought you hated cars.
Oh, I do hate cars.
They're loud, obnoxious, and they give people freedom.
You've seen what happens when they fall into the wrong hands.
Luckily, they fell into mine.
Gonna haul those precious automobiles into town for one of our good, old-fashioned car burnings! Guess you're gonna want that new guy to handle all this.
Of course.
I'll get the new guy to do it.
Oh, come on! What's he got that I don't?! He shows initiative.
- Inish-ative.
- That's right.
And you can show some now by disappearing.
We need to get those cars back.
- Chuck, what'd you find? - Deluxitram? Looks like some kind of transport made out of connecting pods.
That doesn't sound so tough.
Bigger problem is Kane.
He loves himself a car burning, and he's going to have his eyes on his prize all day.
And as soon as he sees us, three dozen bots come shootin' our way from all over.
- Dude, it's suicide! - Hang on.
Kane commands the bots from his office.
And I happen to know that he doesn't let anyone else use it.
So if we get him away from it for the day I think we've got a better chance of Texas learning to spell.
Yeah! Uh, wait a second.
Let's not count on that.
Computer, take this down.
My speech for the incineration ceremony.
Go away, Tooley! - Hiya, Dad.
- Oh, Julie.
What a nice surprise.
Unfortunately, daddy's a little busy right now.
Oh, but Dad, we're supposed to spend the day together.
- Remember? - What? - That was today? - Yeah.
See? All day.
On the town.
And no work.
Sweetie, I need to stay here today.
Might need to take a rain check.
A rain check? Fine.
I'm sure you can spend my crucial formative years with me some other time.
Hey, guys, big news.
Kane got pulled into some huge meeting that's gonna last all afternoon.
He'll be out of his office all day long.
- Jules, you are the best! - I love you, babs! Mm-kay.
- How's it lookin', Chuck? - The Deluxitram just left the station.
- No bots, no cadets.
- Sounds like easy pickin's.
Then let's rob this train and win one for Motorcity! I really think it's time you reconsidered how you run things in Deluxe.
I mean, do you have to be so intense all the time? Maybe you could show a little more empathy.
Huh.
It's good, I mean, I can tell that you worked so, so, so, so, so hard on it, but there is no way your Dad's gonna listen to all that.
I need to prove to myself that he's not just a monster, that somewhere deep down inside he's still my Dad.
I have to say something, Claire.
Talk later.
Bye.
Julie, you have something to tell your old man? - Whoa.
Uh, I, uh - You should say thank you, because I told everyone at the office not to bother me under any circumstances.
Oh.
Right.
Thanks, Daddy! It means a lot to me that you'd leave your work behind on such a big day.
Trust me, my work's going to be fine.
I've got my best man on the job.
Right on schedule.
All right, fellas, we got a train to catch.
Let's get to the control car and change this thing's course.
Time to bring these babies home to mama.
Jackpot! - I've gotta look.
- Don't do it, man.
Come on, buddy.
Don't look at the cars don't look at the cars The navigational module should be one door ahead.
See? A few minutes and we'll have this thing Hello, Mike.
Miss me? - You again! - Are you serious? You! Ah, uh Red! Last time we fought you knocked me out twice! Well, it ain't goin' down like last time, pal.
I'm gonna Hey! - Nice duds.
- New tailor.
Goes by the name of Kane.
Sorry to hear that.
You never stuck me as a chump.
You guys go on ahead.
I'll catch up.
Don't mess with my friends! You want to come at me, you come at me.
I'd rather hit you where it hurts like you hit me.
Knock me out once, shame on you.
Knock me out twice, shame on me.
Knock me out three times, I bring my car! Well, how 'bout that? - My son.
- Father! Computer: Deluxitram breach.
Level 3.
Level 3? That's more than 2! Mr.
Kane! Oh he's not here.
I gotta call him! Tooley, I'm not to be disturbed under any circumstances.
But I gotta do something.
What do I do? This new guy can finish the job.
He shows initiative.
Inish-ative.
"Initiative.
" Readiness to take action.
Oh.
Inish-ative Yeah, I can do that! Well! This'll be fun! A whole day with my favorite little lady capped off by a big ol' bonfire.
Something on your mind? - I was just thinking.
- What about? Well, how do I say this? You know how you're not always nice? I think maybe you should reconsider how your run things.
Maybe try being a little less aggressive, a little less intense.
Just a thought.
We're on court 4.
Grunt bot.
Ultra-grunt bot.
Mega bot.
Mega ultra-bot.
- Mining bot.
- That's cool.
You have selected mining bot.
- Confirm choice.
- Confirm! It shouldn't take too long to hack into the computer.
What in the world is that? I'd say there's some sort of mining bot.
Meaning they can't hurt us? Well, probably not, unless they're the kind that have explosives!!! I believe that's my point.
Hope you didn't think your old man was an easy match.
No work today! Now turn it off and let's settle this! It's off! Uh, what was that you were saying earlier? Something about being intense? My serve.
You think I'm a monster, don't you? No.
I just think you could build a better Deluxe and show a little more empathy.
- Empathy, huh? - Even for people you don't like.
Daddy has an entire city to protect.
You have no idea what I shelter you from! That's the match.
Well, Chilton, it's been fun! What? Later, Red.
- Did I get him? - Sorta.
Gotta get these cars to safety.
That incinerator's coming up fast.
Everything on this tram is about to get cooked.
Better hurry, Chuckles.
Yeah, um, that might be a problem.
- Look! I can't believe it! - Hey! We're not giving up, guys.
The hope and future of Motorcity is on this tram.
If we don't get it back Then the future will be totally weak and lame and stupid.
What are we gonna do?! Fellas, if we can't steal the tram, we'll steal everything on it.
Come on, Mike, how we gonna move all these cars? These things haven't been driven in fifty years.
Dutch, that's why I'm glad I have the best mechanic in Motorcity onboard.
Get your hardware, boys.
We got work to do.
I can handle it this time.
- No, you can't.
- Yes, I can.
I'm just gonna take a teensy-weensy little peeksy.
This is really getting old.
More bots?! This guy doesn't give up! It's him?! What the heck did he do to his ride? It's completely ruined! Keep working on those cars.
I'll deal with Red.
I'm sorry, Dad.
I just, uh Don't apologize! Don't ever do that! I didn't know you had that kind of intensity.
You're a chip off the old block, you know that? Well, just a few minutes before the burning.
You know, I've been thinking about Deluxe.
The perfect society, where people live in safety and peace.
Took most of my life to make it.
But what good is this all this If it just crumbles and dies when I'm gone? I've got the army, the bots, the weapons but I need the hand to wield them, someone to take the reins when my time is up.
Hmph.
I just assumed you'd leave it to Tooley.
I want to leave it to you, Julie.
Oh.
Uh really? W-what about your directors? Larsen or Stevens? - Those guys would - No! They're followers.
But you, you're the obvious answer that's right in front of my face.
You are my successor.
No, Dad.
I'm not.
I can't.
What the?! Uh I'm sure it's nothing.
Burners.
And mining bots?! Tooley! Why are there mining bots tearing up my city? I took inish-utive.
First batch was done, so I sent more.
Those are for mining, you imbecile! Ahh! It says so right in the name.
Those aren't the bots to fight Burners! That was just Tooley.
He wants me to bring him back, uh, dinner, because we're at a restaurant.
Nothing to do with work.
Are you mad, Mr.
Kane? Activate defense turret 973.
And don't touch anything else until I get back! Mike, defense turret coming up on your right in about half a mile.
On it! What?! Tooley! Activate enforcer drones! - But you said don't touch anything.
- Do it! Enforcer drones coming at you from the north.
Thanks, Jules! - Bring up turret 748! - Turret to the west.
- 749! - Watch your left flank.
Ohh, it's like they know what's coming! No, I don't want those bots.
I want the bots that catch the Burners! Tooley! Mr.
Kane! Boy, am I glad to see you! I can't find the power button anywhere on this thing! You mean this button? Hey! I did it! Now, can I have a promotion? Deluxitram now arriving at incinerator.
I'll deal with you later.
Right now I've got a victory party to attend.
- Dutch, how're the cars? - Drive this with them! So that's how you want to do it.
What?! No!!! - Now who's a chump? - Ask me again in three seconds.
What? Feel the pain! You have selected "destroy Deluxitram.
" - Confirmed.
- No, wait! Cancel! Cancel! There you go.
Just remember to change the fluids every six months.
You were right, Julie.
I guess this is better than building a giant shark.
Just look at all those beautiful shiny driving machine Thanks for covering our butts today, Jules, rapid-firing Kane's plans to us like that.
I knew you were intense, but Yeah.
Didn't know I had it in me.
Yeah.
Well, keep it up.
- Hi there, Julie-bear.
- Hi, Dad.
Remember when I told you I didn't want to take over Kaneco? I've changed my mind.
