I Don't Want to Lose You Yet

1 Previously on Nashville Talk to the press, the Movement will sue you for every penny you're worth.
You will have nothing.
Your family will have nothing.
- Avery, she's burning up.
- Really? - Yeah! - Do you know where Granddad is? Actually haven't seen him.
He hasn't really been around the house that much.
- Keeps disappearing on us.
- Is he drinking? He better not be drinking.
- He's drinking, he's out of my house.
- Where is he? - He's upstairs.
- Maddie! - Maddie! - You knew! You son of a bitch, you knew.
I cannot believe it! Juliette Barnes is now claiming that the Movement for Coherent Philosophy is a cult.
The famous pop star has suffered a slew of setbacks in the last few months including her infamous onstage meltdown and the scandal involving Maddie Jaymes.
Whatever the truth may No setbacks for me.
Right, little lady? - You feeling all right? - [doorbell rings] Where's Daddy? Let's see who's at the door.
[doorbell rings] - Hey.
- You didn't have to ring the doorbell.
Yeah, I don't know, I just felt like I should.
- It's crazy out there.
- Tell me about it.
- Hey, Sweet Pea.
- I think she's running a fever.
Really? Hmm, I mean, I can't tell.
She feels fine, I think.
Look, I know you expected to see her today.
But I feel bad making her go through that.
Why didn't you call me? I'm sorry.
There's been a lot going on.
It's all right.
I get it.
How are you holding up? Well, I'm not going down without a fight.
[cell phone rings] - [knocking on door] - Go away! I have coffee.
- Thank you.
- Yeah.
- Are you okay? - No.
[cell phone rings] Why does he keep calling me? What did he do? I caught him and Mia.
- Oh, my God.
- Yeah, it was terrible.
I'm so sorry.
How are you gonna go on tour with him? I'm not gonna go on tour with him.
I can stay home if you need anything.
Nice try, Daphne.
Did you put vanilla ice cream in this? - Yep.
- You did? Hey, man, I'm sorry I'm late.
Apparently, traffic in Nashville is now a thing.
No, uh Thanks Thanks for coming.
- You okay? - Yeah, I'm fine.
- It's actually not about me.
- Oh.
What's up? Looks like Dell is gonna have to shut down the ranch.
- What? - Yeah.
She couldn't make the payments.
Never really made enough money to keep it running anyway, so Oh, no.
But I was thinking maybe we could throw a benefit concert - and help her out.
- [chuckles] Sounds like a great idea.
You want me to sing, don't you? You could do some magic tricks.
- Juggle or something.
- You're shameless.
So you're in? Ugh.
Where are the elves when you need them? Since when do you drink tea? Doctor's orders.
But you're gonna be okay, though, right? Don't worry, Gunnar.
- I'll be around to bug you for a long time.
- Well, good.
Means I don't have to keep being super nice to you all the time.
I hadn't noticed that.
So what you got lined up, man? You got any gigs? Oh, sorry.
No, it's fine.
I love not having a band and not having a girlfriend.
We should have been more like Fleetwood Mac.
They all slept together.
Worked out great.
- Enjoy your tea.
- I didn't well, yeah, I kinda did.
We were at the County Fair and your dad wanted to pet the llamas.
- I thought they were camels.
- [laughs] So cute.
So I lift him up.
And he's petting the llama all very sweet.
Until the damn thing hauls off - and bites him.
- Hard too! Hurt like hell.
So I throw him in the car and we race to the doctor.
Dad, I'm sorry.
Mom threw me in the car and took me to the doctor.
You didn't take me to the doctor.
I beg your pardon.
It was me.
He screamed so loud, I thought they could hear him in the next county.
Mom didn't take me to the doctor? Beverly didn't want to leave.
So the two of them stayed.
That's right.
Huh.
Memory's a funny thing, huh? Yeah.
Sorry I wasn't around for more of them.
Well, I missed my share of moments with these two.
You made up for it.
Wish that was true, sweetheart.
I do know one thing.
Ever since I quit drinking, life has become a whole lot more vivid.
I like it this way.
You know what I mean? I think I do.
Yeah, I think you do too.
So, give me that.
You don't want that yet, Dad.
You gotta tighten it down first.
I have done this once or twice before, you know.
- Okay.
Yeah, I believe you.
- And you know everything I don't know everything.
I just know you want to tighten it.
Whippersnapper Seriously, whippersnapper? Hey, all.
- Hey, Scarlett.
- How you doing? There is my beautiful granddaughter.
Well, I don't wanna interrupt.
This looks kind of serious.
- What the hell is it? - Daphne wanted a new bedside table - for her room.
So I thought I - We? We thought we - I smell chicken.
- Hot chicken.
Come on.
I could use a break.
Sure is lovely seeing y'all be together.
Well, we haven't killed each other yet, - so that's good.
- Oh, good.
[laughs] Ignore him.
How you doing? I'm good.
Thank you.
Hey, this might interest you.
There's gonna be a benefit at the ranch.
And, um, I'm gonna sing.
- Seriously? - Yeah.
- [laughs] All right! I don't believe it.
- Believe it.
Well, I want four tickets.
And don't you cancel.
I said I'm doing it, I'm gonna do it.
She said she's doing it.
This family sure has a lock on talent.
Some of us embrace it more than others, right, Scarlett? Eat your chicken.
It's been real exciting following your progress on "Nashville's Next".
And congratulations on making it to the finals.
- Thank you so much.
- Do you miss having your sister by your side - when you're out there on the stage? - For sure, but I don't know.
I mean It's definitely nice to just be myself for a change.
Well, you sure are doing a great job.
You must be excited.
I'm so excited.
It's so fun.
We want to wish you the best of luck.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
- It was nice to meet you.
- Hello! Look at you! Oh, my gosh, you're big time now.
That's so cool being interviewed.
I know.
It feels weird.
I feel like I haven't even done anything yet.
And it's all happening for you for real.
I'm kind of jealous.
That's really cool.
- How are you - So you first.
- How are you? - I'm great.
How are you? I'm good.
How's Sean? He's, um He's doing real good.
He's dealing with PTSD, so that's kind of - Yeah.
It must be hard.
- It is, but he's doing better.
How's Alannah? Alannah's fine, yeah.
We were a thing and now we're not a thing.
It wasn't really that big of a thing.
[chuckles] It's good to see you.
Thanks.
So how are you really? Oh, I'm just trying to figure out who I wanna be when I grow up.
How are you really? Trying to figure out who I wanna be when I grow up.
You writing? Why does everybody always ask you that when you're not writing? Well, I'm asking because there's gonna be a benefit at the ranch.
I know they'd love it if you'd play, if you want to.
To be honest, I haven't come up with anything new in a while, so Tell me about it.
But if I gotta face it, you might as well, too.
Yeah.
Now we're falling, falling Falling hard, falling fast We can't keep love waiting So, come on, let's make it last Oh, we're falling, falling Falling hard, falling fast It's a chance we're taking So, come on, let's make it last Come on, let's make it last Well, I just can't keep you guys apart, can I, huh? How goes it? Hey, you still at Renegade, huh? Let me know when you're ready to come over to Shiny, all right? If you want a real career, that is.
I'll keep that in mind.
How's it going there, my girl, huh? You're writing your own stuff, I hope.
Yes, Brad, I am.
So, yeah? When can I hear some? - When it's ready.
- Aw, is she this mean to you? [cell phone rings] Hello? Are you not talking to me? I'm thinking about it.
I'm sorry, okay? I'm sorry for what I did to you.
I just can't even believe you.
I know.
It was horrible, okay? But I knew whatever I was gonna do, I was gonna be a terrible person regardless.
Well, I guess covering up for Jonah really is your main job, so Okay, yep.
I deserve it.
Deserve whatever you throw at me.
He treats you like crap, Twig! Yeah.
You don't think I know that? But it's not like that easy to go out and find a job, okay? I didn't have everything handed to me.
- Oh, like me, you mean? - No! I'm talking about me, okay? I didn't have anything before Jonah, all right? No, I pity you.
You're throwing your life away, Twig.
For what? Fake job with fake friends? He's not a fake friend.
Oh, sorry.
You're right.
He's a fake human being.
- You're pathetic.
- Maddie I can't talk to you right now.
Thanks for the food.
You hardly ate anything.
How's it going with Avery? It seems that he has moved on.
I don't believe it.
Oh, it's true.
I've actually met her.
I'm so sorry.
This is all on me.
I've just put him through way too much.
Oh, don't be so hard on yourself.
What's wrong? I'm pregnant.
Oh, my God.
And you haven't told him? No, and I'm not going to.
At least, not now.
That's crazy! Avery's fallen in love.
I'm not gonna manipulate him to get him back.
- But it's his baby.
- I know, and he's the most incredible man in the world.
And he would immediately be there for me if he knew.
But that doesn't mean he could ever love me again.
You again.
Don't look at me like that.
I'm a douche bag Can't write a thing I'm all washed up Nothing left to sing La-da-da-da, - la-da-da-da - Woo! - I like it.
- I think it might be permanent.
You always think that.
Well, this time it's different.
Well, maybe stop trying.
Why don't you go out and have some fun for a change? I don't wanna go out and have fun! Oh.
Okay.
Well, I'm gonna go out, and see Steve Earle tonight.
- I'm gonna have a ton of fun.
- What? - Yeah.
- I don't believe it, man! Why didn't you tell me he was playing a show here? - You know how much I love Steve Earle! - Sorry.
- Of course, it's sold out now, right? - Yeah, of course it is.
I hate you.
It's for you.
- What? - Yeah.
I bought it for you like a week ago.
You did not! - Have fun.
- Oh, my God! I love you! I love you! I'm sorry! I'm sorry.
Yes! Yes! - Well, this is - Yeah.
- [knocking on door] - Gideon? Gideon? Oh, I got you, bro.
Yes! - Nothing! - [cell phone rings] - Is that Mia? - Yeah.
I just I can't not now.
Serve up? 3-0? - Okay, what do you want me to do? - Really? Maddie's not even speaking to me.
Yeah.
I wonder why.
- Look, I know it's my fault.
- So that's it then? You just destroy her and then forget about her? - Dude, she's never gonna forgive me.
- Yeah! And it's always all about you.
It's all about you.
You know, she cared about you and she believed in you.
And you, dude, you treated her like a thing.
I messed up, okay? You didn't deserve her.
You're right.
Is that what you want me to say? - It's history now.
- Right, yeah.
You just gotta move on, you know.
- You gotta grow up.
- Yeah, I did.
What? What does that mean? I told her where you were that night.
- You what? - Yeah! I'm sick of covering for you, dude! I cover for you! You'd be bagging groceries right now if it wasn't for me.
- I should fire you.
- Do it.
- I will if you don't apologize to me.
- Okay, all right.
I'm sorry that you're such an ass.
- Piss off! - You piss off! Piss off! [grunts] Oh! - Dude, that frickin' hurt! - Good! Oh, man, I'm such an idiot.
It's only a matter of time before everyone knows it.
Yeah.
Not a moment too soon.
Come on, let's go get a beer.
What's up? Call a press conference.
I'm putting an end to this.
Juliette, you gotta let this go.
The Movement headquarters, 9:00 a.
m.
tomorrow.
This is crazy! Don't do it.
You're wrong, okay? The only thing that would be crazy is if I keep silent.
9:00 a.
m.
! Thank you.
I hope you're ready.
There's a girl up on the mountain I once knew Let her go and now I'm sad and blue Sometimes late at night I pray she'll come down to me someday But the girl up on the mountain still remains Me, I sleep all right at night 'Cause in my dreams, I hold her tight And the girl up on the mountain's up there still I love her now, guess I always will Thanks.
- [breaking glass] - Damn! Are you okay? I've got this, honey.
Don't.
You'll cut yourself.
I'm fine.
I've been a little under the weather.
Having trouble sleeping.
It's not what you think.
I can handle this.
Yeah.
I understand.
But can't we just keep this between the two of us? We don't want to worry your dad.
Not if we don't have to.
See you in the morning? Thanks, man.
- Hi, Gunnar.
- Erica, how are you? - Good.
How you doing? - Killer show.
- Amazing.
- Steve saw you in the audience.
He wants to say hello to you.
- Me? Seriously? - Yeah.
- He wants to talk to you.
- No, you're kidding.
- Come on.
- He does? - Let's go.
- All right.
You know, a lot of people would love to be sitting where you are right about now.
What? Drinking champagne with one of the most - influential men in the music industry? - Well, okay, if you wanna put it like that.
Well, yeah.
I mean, I'm just a little girl from Oregon.
You're a little girl.
You're sweet.
Don't go there, Brad.
Hello? Do not go there.
Say what? I feel like a teenager.
I really think I might be falling for you.
Do people still do that? Fall for each other? I cannot figure you out.
Maybe that's what I like about you.
I will not be a part of breaking up your marriage.
It's already a done deal.
See? I saw you at Charlie Mae's a while back.
- And you were great.
- What? You were there? Yeah.
Well, I mean, I like your work.
I like the way you hold something back.
Like you're keeping a secret or something.
- I wish I could do that.
- [chuckles] My secret is, I'm not always sure what I'm doing.
Well, we are all flying by the seat of our pants.
Not you, man.
You're the most talented musician I know.
- You never quit.
- Why would I? This is the only thing I know how to do besides fly fishing.
You always deliver.
Man, I wish I could do that.
So what are we trying to say here? All right.
I'm blocked.
I'm always in my head.
Just try taking your head off - and putting it up on a shelf for a while.
- Then what? I don't know.
Throw the pieces up and see where they land.
Yeah.
I can never seem to do that.
Then try not being Gunnar Scott for a change.
Scare yourself.
See you around.
You all know how I've called out The Movement for Coherent Philosophy for its inhumane treatment of its volunteers.
And in response, they've used my past struggles in an attempt to discredit what I've had to say.
Well, today I have here with me two people who can personally attest to the cruelties that have occurred - Miss Barnes, does that mean - I will pursue this for as long as it takes to expose the true nature of this organization.
But I also have an announcement to make.
I'm officially leaving the music industry and retiring from the public eye.
It is ironic that Darius Enright was the person who taught me that fame and celebrity can come with a very toxic price.
Darius, wherever you are, you can't hide from me.
I will never stop fighting until justice prevails.
[reporters talking] All right, damn it! I've had it with you.
Hey.
Hey.
How's Juliette? Well, that's anybody's guess.
You'll figure it out.
What does that mean? Come on, Avery.
I'm telling you, I can't deal with her anymore.
I mean, she's always been half gone even when she's with me.
I still think you need more time.
Alannah, don't you understand that this is about you now? I mean, unless you're starting to like Brad Maitland instead.
You can't actually believe that! No, of course not.
It's just I don't trust him.
It doesn't matter anyway.
What are you talking about? You're an incredibly sweet person and we met at the absolute - perfect wrong time.
- Alannah, don't do this.
We just might be able to pull this off.
That's if everyone shows up and the auction items are a hit.
I got a good feeling.
Don't worry.
- Oh, hey, there.
- Hi.
- Oh, look at that little sweetie! - Hey.
Come here, cowboy.
- He's excited to see you.
- Oh, how you doing? Mind if I take him a bit? Sure.
I'll be here.
I'll be down at the stables.
How you been? I don't even know.
Oh, I'm sorry.
I know it's been rough.
He's come such a long way.
- Thanks to you.
- It wasn't me.
Gosh.
Yeah, it was.
I tried for so long to help Sean get rid of some of his pain.
But I failed.
No.
No, you didn't.
Y'all went through hell.
I think that's what led you guys here.
It led to you.
What do you mean? You just waltzed right in and suddenly now he has something to live for.
Angela, he loves you so much.
Maybe.
Sometimes I think he'd be better off with you.
- Hey.
- What are you doing here? Apologizing.
It's okay.
I'm sorry for calling you pathetic.
I told him.
You told him what? That I told you where he was that night.
Wow.
Good for you.
And what did he say? Not that I care.
He was furious that I would betray him like that.
And then what? Well, that's it.
Yeah, that's it.
That's it? I mean, did he not fire you or No.
No, he just, he kind of accepted it.
- It was weird.
- Okay, and what did you do? Did you tell him you were done? Not exactly.
Um - Twig? - Come on.
Hey, I'm from outer space, remember? - Please don't judge me.
- I'm not judging you.
I feel sad for you.
It's like the worst kind of judgment.
What would you like me to tell you? I don't know.
I'm gonna go.
Okay.
Did you ever think about what might have happened if you had never met him? Yeah, I do.
I'd have nothing.
And what do you have now? - Wow! You wrote that song? - Yeah.
Well, how in the world - I don't even know, man.
I went a little nuts.
- I can't believe it! - Well, don't be too amazed, but - No, no.
I'm happy for you and I'm excited, you know.
You know, you can't be you when you perform this song, right? - What do you mean? - Well, it's like you've tapped into like a whole 'nother thing.
Like a whole other you, you know.
- It's wild.
- Really? Yeah.
I mean, maybe I should be you.
- What do you mean - Well, you should be me.
I'm saying like from now on, you should be me onstage.
Okay, let me show you.
Like that little riff that [imitating guitar] Right? So [imitating guitar] Yeah, I can't do that.
That's the point, man.
You have to.
Now help me up.
Been a minute, hasn't it? Yeah.
I was surprised to get your call.
Well, I just wanted to check in on you.
You know, see how you're doing.
How you doing? [chuckles] - I'm good, thanks.
- Well, good.
I really wanted to make sure that Shiny New was doing right by you.
You deserve that.
Also, I know a little bit about how Brad can be.
So how's Brad being? That's nothing I can't handle.
Okay.
What? Something I'm missing here? Can I ask you something? Of course, you can.
- All right! Let's do this! - Woo! You guys ready for this? This tour's gonna be sick! - Oh, absolutely.
- Frickin' sick! Come on, grab the bags.
Put 'em in.
Twig, grab the bags.
I'm not gonna go.
- Uh, what the hell? - No.
You heard what I said.
- Are you kidding? Come on, Twig.
- No, I think Yeah, I think I'm done being your bitch.
Whoa! Well, you're gonna be if you don't put those bags in the car.
Okay, okay, great, great.
You know what? You're nothing but a loser, you know that? Okay.
What are you doing? Grab the bags! - Yeah, sure.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Big mistake.
- Maybe.
- Well, good job, Twig.
Congrats.
You just walked away from the best thing that ever happened to you.
- See ya, man.
- Yeah? Okay, great! Have a nice life! Enjoy working at Piggly Wiggly, coffee boy! Yeah, you're nothing but a loser! You know that? - Hey.
- Hey, thanks for coming.
Yeah.
I know, I came as soon as I could.
- Hi, sweetie.
- One minute, she's all right.
Then the next, she's lethargic.
I took her temperature an hour ago and it was 101.
Yeah, she's definitely warm.
Will you grab the thermometer? - Let's take her temperature.
- Yep.
- You're gonna be all right, baby.
- Here.
You know how to do this, under your tongue.
There you go, baby.
I saw your press conference.
Did you mean it? About leaving the business? I've never meant anything more in my life.
You never cease to amaze me.
I'm finally going to get to do what I've always wanted to do.
I never told you this, but I bought a house outside Nashville.
Of course, you did.
It's more like a farm.
It's beautiful.
- What? - It's 104! - Oh, my God! - She's burning up! We should call 911.
No.
Let's just take her! Let's take her ourselves.
- Are you sure? - Yeah.
- Come here.
Come here, honey.
Come here.
- Go with Daddy.
- I got it all.
- Okay, okay, come on.
[tires squeal] It's okay, baby.
You're gonna be all right.
- Somebody help! - She has 104 temperature! She's burning up! How is she? Is she gonna be okay? Yes, she is.
Caught it just in time.
What is it? Pneumonia.
She's also dehydrated.
So we're giving her fluids along with antibiotics.
Thank God, she's gonna be okay.
Thank you so much, Doctor.
- Yeah, thank you.
- It's my pleasure.
Well, you definitely have my permission to say I told you so.
I don't need your permission to say that.
That's true.
Poor baby.
She's gonna be okay, thank God.
We've been through a lot, haven't we? You think so? Why is it when you smile at me that way, all the pain disappears? [cell phone buzzes] How is she? I don't know.
You know, I'm not upset, really.
For all that you knew, I was never coming back.
So I totally understand.
[audience cheering] We love you, Gunnar.
Listen to him.
Heard enough of your feedback Now I wanna talk So just leave it to me to turn you on The touch of my hands The sound of you Making a stage out of a living room You scream so loud they'll make us turn it down You got me going electric now Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh Wow! Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh You got me going electric now Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh You got me going electric [cheering] What are you doing here? I thought you were gonna be on a plane to Berlin by now.
Um, me too, but it seems like I didn't go.
- Woo, I didn't go.
That's crazy.
- Why not? 'Cause I ended it with Jonah for good.
- What? - Yeah.
- That's amazing.
How do you feel? - Like I suddenly have nothing.
And I am insanely happy.
[laughs] Twig! Oh, my God! Look at you, my brave girl.
You are getting all better, honey.
Go home? Yes, sweetie.
We can go home really soon.
Before you, I was lost In the deep dark wood Before you, I was lost Somehow you found me When no one could You held me till the hurt was gone You came along You made love simple in the chaos of it all In little ways, yeah, you danced me down the hall You let me know that it's okay to trip and fall And I fell for you When you came along When you came along [cheering] [laughs] Wow.
Thank you.
Well, thank you.
That was wonderful.
You were so good.
Well, I mean us.
- Us? - Yeah.
You broke into my heart like some sort of wild angel.
- You busted open the doors.
- Sean, that's beautiful.
You're beautiful.
You don't even know what I see when I just look at you.
You know, I think it's real easy to fall in love with somebody brand new, isn't it? They seem all perfect like you just dreamed 'em up yourself.
But that's not what was ever gonna happen, not with me anyway.
She's here.
She's the love of your life, and she's leaving.
- Scarlett, you're just - Listen to me, okay? She's the one who kept you alive.
You think I'm a good idea because you ain't been through hell with me.
And you sure as heck ain't seen me at my worst.
So just I would have liked to.
Thank you.
She's real, okay? She knows you, she loves you through and through.
And she's leaving right now.
And if you don't get after her, you're not gonna get another chance.
You gotta go, Sean.
I'll never forget you.
Go.
Go.
That was really something, wasn't it? - I'm so glad I got to see that.
- Yeah, me too, Dad.
- That auction was so killer, wasn't it? - Did you see the Martin guitar? That's what we need.
We need another guitar! Yes, we do.
- You know the way home? - I was born at night, - but not last night.
- [laughs] Okay.
Hey, Daph, you wanna go with Granddad? You know what, son? Let her ride with you.
I've got some errands to run.
I'm gonna be a while.
[shouts] [bottle breaks] I knew it.
I knew you were lying to me.
Do you hear me? I know that you lied! Son of a bitch! - You lied! - Dad! - Get outta my sight.
- Son Get outta here.
Go.
Go! I don't want you here! You understand me? You're not my father.
Get in the car.
Get in the car!
