Pointless Celebrities (2010) s11e11 Episode Script

Strictly Come Dancing

1 APPLAUSE Thank you very much indeed.
Hello, I'm Alexander Armstrong, and a very warm welcome to this special Strictly edition of Pointless Celebrities, the quiz where the aim of the game is to score as few points as you possibly can.
And you do that by coming up with the answers no-one else could think of.
Let's meet this evening's pointless celebrities.
APPLAUSE And couple number one.
Hi, I am Joe McFadden, and I was the 2017 Strictly winner.
Yay! And I'm Katya Jones, and I'm the one who cracked the whip to make sure that he did win! THEY LAUGH She did! APPLAUSE Couple number two.
I'm the lovely Debbie McGee.
THEY LAUGH And that really is true.
He'll tell you.
Well, debatable! SHE LAUGHS And I nearly won, with my partner, Strictly 2017.
And I'm Giovanni Pernice, I'm the lovely Debbie McGee's dance partner.
And we were second, probably, runners-up on the show in 2017.
LAUGHTER APPLAUSE Couple number three.
I'm Ore Oduba and I won Strictly back in 2016 with my partner, Joanne Clifton.
Hi, I'm Oti Mabuse.
I'm a Strictly Come Dancing finalist and the guy that beat me is standing right here! THEY LAUGH We're friends now! Best of friends.
And finally, couple number four.
I am Lesley Joseph and I danced in Strictly in 2016, had an absolute ball, didn't make the final but there you go.
Hi, I'm AJ Pritchard, and I'm Strictly's youngest professional dancer.
Hey, hey! There we are.
Thank you very much indeed.
APPLAUSE A very, very warm welcome to Pointless Celebrities to each and every one of you.
We'll get a chance to chat a bit further throughout the show as it goes along.
So that just leaves one more person for me to introduce.
Claire, Lisa, H, he pretty much knows all the Steps.
LAUGHTER It's my Pointless friend, it's Richard.
Hiya.
Evening, everybody.
APPLAUSE Good evening.
What an amazing line-up.
I'm such a Strictly fan.
And look at this! Winners everywhere.
Look at the teeth on display! This is so show business, isn't it? It's glitter balls everywhere.
Glitterballs, of course, your nickname.
LAUGHTER It is so lovely to have you all on here.
We really, really appreciate it.
In return, I have talked to the producers of Strictly and I have agreed that you can do Strictly next year.
So that's Isn't that great? You've released me.
XANDER CHUCKLES Thank you very much.
Now, as today's show is a celebrity special, each of our wonderful celebrities is playing for a nominated charity.
Therefore, we are going to start off with a jackpot of ã2,500.
There it is.
APPLAUSE Right.
If everyone's ready, let's play Pointless.
Now there's only one thing you have to remember.
The pair with the highest score at the end of each round gets eliminated.
So you've just got to keep your scores as low as you can.
Very best of luck to all four pairs.
Good luck indeed.
Our first category today is Can you all decide in your pairs who's going to go first, who's going to go second.
And whoever's going first, please step up to the podium.
OK.
And our question concerns Richard.
On each board we're going to show you seven pairs of acts who've had a UK top 40 single with a song that's got the same title.
We'll show you the initials of that song as well.
Can you tell us what songs these acts had UK top 40 hits with, please? Seven on the first board, seven on the second.
14 in all to have a go at, at home.
Thank you very much indeed.
So we are looking for the shared title that these acts had hits with.
Here is our first board of seven.
Let me read those quickly once more.
Katya.
Katya, welcome to Pointless.
What do I do if I don't know any of it? Well, we'll chat first.
Let's chat first and then we'll worry about it later.
Um, now then, Katya.
How, here's the first thing I want to know OK.
How do you get to be the professional, a professional on Strictly? Er, I did not audition, personally.
I was asked to do the show, which was very, very I was surprised, actually.
I did not expect.
But it was an honour.
And of course I said yes immediately.
And you've had I mean, you've had Joe, you had Ed Balls as well.
I did! I mean, how strict are you, with your Well, I got Ed Balls to dance! LAUGHTER So, quite strict.
Am I strict? You would know better.
Harsh, but fair.
That's it.
I like that.
Harsh, but fair.
OK.
Now Katya, let's just Now let's just look at this board.
Let's just look at this board.
I honestlycan't think of any.
OK.
I'm going to go for Fleetwood Mac and Gabrielle, and it's got the letter D, so I'm just going to go Dancer.
JOE LAUGHS Good.
OK.
Let's see how many of our 100 people LAUGHTER .
.
went for Dancer.
Oh, bad luck! I can promise you, that will not be the last 100 points scored in this round.
Erm I'm afraid that does score you 100.
Unlucky, Katya.
Nice word to start with as well.
But there's so many people here who got beaten by you in the last Strictly, they're all just going, "Yes! Finally.
" Payback! Oh! Thanks very much indeed, Richard.
Debbie, welcome back.
A former winner, I might add, on Pointless Celebrities.
Yes.
That's class, that is, on podium two there.
Now, Debbie.
I mean, no surprise you were runner-up in Strictly.
Thank you.
Because you started, you started out as a ballet dancer.
Yes.
You were with the Iranian National Ballet, weren't you? I was, yes.
But it was really different to what we did on Strictly.
And it was a long time ago! So I think it helped that I knew how to do choreography and learn steps, but other than that, I think it was a disadvantage! Have you kept it up, though? Have you kept any kind of dancing up? No.
No, I just did exercise at the gym, and yoga.
And that was it.
That was it, yeah.
Until he got his whip out.
SHE LAUGHS Did it all come back, though? Did you suddenly find yourself Did your poise I mean, you've got wonderful poise.
I think by about the third week, so that was kind of the second week of the series It all clicked.
.
.
my strength and suppleness came back.
Yeah.
Now, Debbie.
Yes.
Debbie, what are we going to go for, here? I know I did well last time I was on, but, um, we didn't have pop music questions then.
So I have not a clue.
So I'm going to go for Chris Montez and David Bowie and say, I don't know, er, Lovely Debbie.
LAUGHTER Amazing! OK.
This might be one of those very long rounds, I think.
LAUGHTER OK.
Lovely Debbie, says lovely Debbie.
Let's see how many of our 100 people said that.
Oh! I'm sorry.
I didn't lie, did I, Katya? I was absolutely right.
I didn't know it was going to be that soon, but, yes, there's another 100 points for you.
100.
I'm afraid Lovely Debbie not right.
Oh! Bowie, God bless him, he missed a trick there, didn't he? Imagine.
Imagine the hit he'd have had with Lovely Debbie.
Thank you very much indeed.
Now, then.
Ore, welcome.
Welcome.
Thank you.
You've had lots of ambitions in your life and you seem to have nailed all of them.
You know, when you were younger, you said you always wanted to be on TV as a presenter.
Oh, and you are.
And then you spent the first series of Strictly watching it, saying, one day I'm going to go on that.
Oh, and you did.
ORE LAUGHS Every boy can dream, and most young boys dream of being on Strictly, I think.
And you won it, and you won it.
At what point did you dream of being on Pointless Celebrities? That's what I want to know.
Ever since you came on air, about ten years ago.
Because I remember Pointless took Newsround off the telly.
XANDER GASPS So I've had a vendetta against you beautiful boys for about ten years.
It's good to be here finally.
THEY LAUGH It's been a while.
But no, I love this show.
But, as you can tell, we're all a little nervous.
Yes.
The brains have gone to mush.
We dance better than we speak.
Yes! So we're I don't know how this day's going to go, but it's been great so far, hasn't it? Well, listen.
Amazing.
Things quite literally can only get better, Ore.
What are you going to go for, on our board here? It's a really tricky board, but I am going to go with the top one, because it should be right in my hitting zone.
I'm going to go with All Around The World.
All Around The World, says Ore.
OK.
Let's see if that's right.
Let's see how many of our 100 people said it.
A chance to see if this tower works.
Yes, it does! All Around The World is absolutely right, well done.
Two high scores of 100 so far.
35 is all you get for that, well done, Ore.
Yes! We'll take that, we'll take that.
Oh, dear! Thank you, Ore.
Thank you so much for restoring some sanity.
Yeah, The Jam also had a hit with all around the world, as did Jason Donovan.
There we go.
Thank you very much indeed, Richard.
Now, AJ, welcome to the show.
The youngest of the Strictly professionals.
Yeah.
Now before you went into dancing, you were into your extreme sports, weren't you? Yes.
What extreme sports did you do? Snowboarding, quad biking, mountainboarding.
Anything fast and dangerous and kind of breaking bones, which I did do, a couple of times.
And so, is that why you stopped doing extreme sports, what was it? No, because I felt like I could get more adrenaline from performing in front of a crowd.
So you're put on the spot and everybody is watching you, and that adrenaline just kind of rises even more than being thrown down a mountain at God knows what speed.
So, I was going to ask precisely that.
I mean, do you get used to it, as the show goes on, by the end? I think it depends what the routine is.
If you've got a very simple routine, you're not doing very many lifts, you feel quite calm, even though there are 12 million people watching, but, if you're doing some lifts, and you're like, I've never really done them until, like, the live show, then you're like, oh, bit of adrenaline then.
There are 12 million people.
If they see you drop someone on TV, they're never going to forget it, are they? So, that does keep you energised.
OK.
Now, AJ, this is your board.
Do you want to talk us through it, and fill in the blanks? I've no idea.
I know it doesn't sound very good.
Pop music, but I'm going to go for a guess, again, with Katya, with the D, on Fleetwood Mac and Gabrielle, and going to go for Danger.
Danger.
OK.
Let's see how many of our 100 people said Danger.
Yeah.
Not Danger I'm afraid, not Danger.
I'm afraid that scores you 100 points.
Thank you.
Well, this has gone terrifically well! Look at Ore there.
There's a couple that you will know, though.
If, for example, we said a David Bowie song from 1983 that's LD, you should all know it.
Because it's Let's Dance.
Yeah.
34 for that.
Equally, the one above, Frankie Goes To Hollywood.
The Power Of Love.
The Power Of Love, yes.
56 for that.
WTG, Joe? Who's That Girl.
Who's That Girl, Madonna and Eurythmics.
It's lucky you're getting a go next time, isn't it? 12 points for that.
Fleetwood Mac and Gabrielle? Dreams? Dreams, yes, 29.
These bottom two are probably the hardest ones.
TF, Take That and Cheryl Cole? The Flood.
That would have scored you seven points.
And NMW, the Boyzone song perhaps better known? No Matter What.
And that would have scored 18 points.
No idea.
Very well done if you didn't score 100 points at home.
Well, hey, let's have a look at those scores.
Only two scores to look at between the four of you.
35, the best score of the pass, well done indeed, Ore.
All we have to try and do is separate the high scorers because we've got AJ and Lesley, Debbie and Giovanni, and Katya and Joe, all on 100.
So yes, Joe, Giovanni, and Lesley, it's going to be between you.
That's my guess at this stage.
So good luck with that.
We're going to come back down the line now.
Can the second players please step up to the podium? OK, well, let's put seven more pairs of acts with a shared song title between them on the board, here they come.
We have got Let me read those quickly once more.
Now, Lesley, I think this is going to be a bit easier now we've sort of cleared the barrels, haven't we? Anyway, Lesley, let's just talk about Anton du Beke, who was your partner, who is just I mean, from our point of view, he just looks like a barrel of laughs.
It's just fun.
He is a barrel of laughs.
He's wonderful, if a little tall for somebody who is five foot two, like myself.
But we had a ball.
I absolutely loved it.
Can we just talk about Young Frankenstein, which has been a massive hit? It's been a great hit.
We've had all four and five-star reviews, and I worked with Mel Brooks for three and a half months.
Who gets to do that? I know.
I don't care if my career finishes after this.
You know, I've finished on a high.
It's just been absolutely glorious.
Amazing.
And to cap it all, you've just been nominated for an Olivier.
I have! APPLAUSE Fantastic.
Lesley, you're joint high-scorers on 100.
What would you like to go for? I'm going to go Lulu And The Luvvers and something, whatever it says underneath, Tears For Fears, and I'm going to say Shout.
Shout says Lesley.
No red line for you as you're joint high scorers, let's see how far down the column we get with Shout.
40.
Look at that.
Yes! Very well done indeed.
140 is your total.
Yeah, well-played, Lesley.
She was 15 when she had a hit with that, Lulu, her first hit.
An old Isley Brothers song, Shout.
Amazing, thank you very much indeed, Richard.
Now, Oti, welcome to Pointless Celebrities.
Hey! Great to have you here.
Oh! Thank you for having me.
I'm so nervous, I'm not even talking.
You must be.
I talk the most out of everyone, but I'm so nervous.
He hasn't even asked you a question and you're talking! I know! Now, Oti, listen.
Here's fun.
You started out doing civil engineering.
No, I started out dancing when I was a baby, and then Ah, you were dancing as a baby.
Yes, but you did a degree in civil engineering.
Yes, yes.
My mum was like, you have to study something.
And I didn't She didn't allow me to do musical theatre, so she said, it has to be with maths and science.
And I chose civil because I thought, I thought it was the easiest out of all the engineerings.
You've got a degree in civil engineering as well as being able to dance.
That's a phenomenal skill set you've got there, Oti.
I didn't even know that, Xander.
This partnership's going to be great! A civil engineer here! So, Oti, back to Strictly, when you're doing Strictly, how much choice do you have in terms of who your partner will be? Do you have any say at all? None.
You have no say.
And we drive ourselves crazy trying to figure out who will be partnered with who, who did you have the previous year, what does he look like, personality, height? But we have no say.
So it's literally, name out of the hat, and that's who you've got.
And you have to Well, the production knows, but then they like to see our reactions.
They like to see us go crazy and loud or cry or be disappointed, or just walk Walk the other way.
So they're kind of like that.
OK, now, Oti, I've got wonderful news for you.
It does not matter what you score.
Even if you score 100 here, you're through to Round Two.
Fabulous scoring from Ore in the first pass there.
Yeah.
OK.
So what are you going to go for? Um, I'm going to go for Britney Spears and Kanye West, and say Stronger.
Stronger, says Oti.
No red line, you're already through.
Let's see how many of our 100 people said Stronger.
It's right.
Well, 35 is the lowest score anyone's had so far.
And you've passed it, look at that, down you go.
Stronger.
Down to 11.
Very well done indeed! 46 is your total.
OK, the nerves are gone! She's all right now.
That's cheered you up, hasn't it? Actually, we went out for karaoke, Joe and I, and that was the song that I sang.
And he told me I was a terrible singer.
I shouldn't do it again! Thank you very much indeed.
Giovanni, welcome.
Hello, hello, hello.
Ah, now, you've been in the finals twice now.
I have, yes.
You must be You're clearly doing something right.
Everything! You've got a show that's about to start touring called Born To Win, is that right? Yes, yes.
It is kind of autobiographical? Well, basically, yes.
We're going to talk about me, of course.
And that's what the people want! No, it's going to be like, telling about my story, how I started dancing, and, until now.
Do you tell it through dance? Yes, through dancing, yes.
Wow.
And how much Strictly is there in that? Everything.
I mean, my life changed, since I ran with Strictly, because I used to compete like all the other guys, used to compete a lot.
And Strictly changed my life.
Of course.
You know, we dance on television and it's really, really nice.
Fabulous.
Yes, and dancing with somebody like the lovelyDebbie McGee.
I thought you were just going to call her the lovely! It's even better, it's even better.
With the lovely, here.
Yeah.
The only one, the only.
Now listen, Giovanni, we can't ignore for any longer this board behind me.
I think we should.
What are you going to go for? You want to be scoring 39 or less.
No idea.
Basically, I have no idea.
I'm between the Little Mix, which is Ciao, because it's the Italian for ciao Or You're going to go, that's what you're going to say, Ciao? Hang on, hang on, hang on.
Give me more few seconds.
I'm going to have to take your first answer, Giovanni, I'm really sorry.
Really? Yeah.
OK, Ciao, then.
Ciao! Ciao.
Literally Ciao! Thank you for having us, it's been a pleasure.
Thank you again.
Here is your red line.
Get below that with Ciao Little Mix didn't do Ciao.
.
.
you stay.
Well, you don't know.
Let's find out.
How many of our 100 people said Ciao? Oh, bad luck.
I'm sorry, Giovanni.
Sorry, darling, I'm so sorry.
I'm really sorry, OK.
It scores you 100 points, takes your total up to 200.
Richard.
Er, yeah, not Ciao.
Be a good title for a Little Mix song.
Wouldn't it? Look how Joe and Katya are pretending not to be delighted there, on podium one.
Very good.
Can you tell? We can tell you're an actor, Joe, that was very impressive.
Thank you very much indeed, Richard.
Now, Joe, welcome to Pointless, good to have you here.
Now when you were applying, not applying, when someone asks you to do Strictly Yes.
.
.
presumably you give a sort of provisional yes, you sayyes? You say, is that a good idea, is this madness? Your friends and people convince you to do it, and thank God that they did.
When do they actually confirm you? Because that's It was quite last-minute, actually, which was good.
I didn't have too long to worry about it.
But then I didn't have too much time to prepare.
I was going to say, what sort of preparation can you do? There's not really any preparation that you can do.
You just sort of have to try and stay calm and not freak out.
I mean, is there a moment, when you're worrying, I'm just never going to be able to do this? It's just simply Yeah, all the time.
Every single time, all the time! Yeah, but it all worked out OK.
OK, now, Joe, you have to score 99 or less.
OK.
You sounded like you knew all the ones on the last board, so Yeah, I have a few of them, actually.
Talk us through this.
Er, Kris Kross is Jump, Kylie Minogue and Sonia is Better The Devil You Know.
Whigfield is that terrible dance, Saturday Night, I believe.
So I suppose the most pointless out of those, I'm going to say Kris Kross with Jump.
You're going to go for Jump? OK, here's your red line.
Can you get below this red line with Jump? Let's see how many of our 100 people said it.
It's right! And you're through, by the way, sorry.
Should have said that as well.
46, you have scored, 146 is your total.
You're very much in Round Two, well done.
Well-played, Joe, safe and sound.
Let's fill in the rest of this board.
We'll fill in the ones that you knew first.
It is Better The Devil You Know, Kylie and Sonia both had hits with that.
Would have scored 28 points, would have been a slightly better scorer.
And you're right about Saturday Night as well, Whigfield and Suede.
That would have scored you 48.
F, down the bottom, The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown? Fire? Fire.
That would have scored 30.
And The Breeders and Little Mix? Cannonball.
Cannonball.
Yeah.
That's the best answer on the board, very well done if you said that, four points.
Thank you very much indeed, Richard.
So at the end of our first round we have to say goodbye to one of our pairs, and I'm sorry to say the pair we say goodbye to on this occasion, Giovanni and Debbie.
I'm so sorry.
I'm sorry.
Never mind.
But that was a really tough first round, I have to say.
You all came out of it very well, considering.
But I'm afraid we have to say goodbye to you, Giovanni and Debbie.
Thank you.
Come and play again, but thank you, Debbie and Giovanni.
APPLAUSE But for the remaining three pairs, it is now time for Round Two.
Oh, phew, what about that? We made it through Round One, everyone.
That's amazing! Oh, it was touch and go for every single one of you, apart from Oti and Ore.
Oti, our lowest individual scorer there, very well done indeed.
Yes! And Oti and Ore, our lowest combined scorers.
Um, but, yeah, Katya and AJ, I am just going to say, yes, pull your socks up! Er, best of luck No socks on! Best of luck to all three pairs.
Our category for Round Two this evening is What does that mean? Can you all decide in your pairs who's going to go first, who's going to go second, and whoever is going first, please step up to the podium? OK, and our pointing celebrity question is all about What? What? Please don't worry.
All that's going to happen is, we're going to show you 16 pictures of famous people.
Can you tell us who any of these people are? They happen to be pointing.
It doesn't matter! They just are.
It's a coincidence.
So 16 people, just name any of the people you're about to see.
Brilliant.
So we're going to put an image up with 16 people on it.
We're not going to be changing it halfway through the round.
Shall we reveal the 16 pointing celebrities? Shall we? Here they are, here they are.
OK, there we are.
16 pointing celebrities.
Now, Katya, it's over to you.
Well, this is much better.
I know a few, But I'm going to go for this beautiful lady, model, Bella Hadid.
Bella Hadid? Yes.
Bella Hadid says Katya.
Let's see how many of our 100 people agree with Katya.
Bella Hadid.
Bella Hadid absolutely right.
Well done, Katya, there you go.
You watch! You watch that! You watch! Oh! Down to one! Very good indeed.
Wow, what a start to the round.
Well done! I don't know which one it is.
Down on the left? Bella, Katya.
A beautifully choreographed celebration as well, it's lovely to see.
Yeah, Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid's sister as well.
That's right.
That's right.
That's better than Round One, isn't it? Yes! Know my fashion! Thank you very much indeed.
Now, Ore.
OK.
Yeah, now this one looks much more familiar than the last one.
And possibly, just because I watched Fast And Furious for the very first time the other day, by mistake, I'm going to go with Vin Diesel.
Vin Diesel, says Ore, let's see how many of our 100 people said Vin Diesel.
Vin Diesel is absolutely right.
Well, one's the only score we have posted at the moment.
And Vin Diesel, 32.
APPLAUSE Yes! 32 for Vin.
Well-played, Ore.
Do you know how he got into acting? This is genuinely true.
As a seven-year-old, he and two friends broke into a theatre to vandalise it.
They were caught by the artistic director, and he said, I'll give you 20 if you'll come back to theatre school every day.
And they did, and that's how he broke into acting.
Wow.
Him, John Gielgud, and I can't remember who the third one was.
And Felicity Kendal.
It was the three of them.
Thank you very much indeed, Richard.
Now then, Lesley.
Yes, hello.
This is more like it, isn't it? It's easier, but all the ones I know are really easy.
I don't know any of the difficult ones, so I'm going to go with David Dimbleby.
OK, David Dimbleby, says Lesley.
Let's see how many of our 100 people went for David Dimbleby.
If indeed it is him.
It is him.
Now, 32 is our high score, one is our low.
Look at that, 37, not bad at all, 37 for David Dimbleby.
Now there's a guy who can point, Dimbleby.
He spends his entire life saying, "The man in the red jumper.
" "No, not that red jumper, that one.
" "No, the gentleman behind you with the Sorry, Madam!" Thank you very much, Richard.
We are halfway through the round.
Let's have a quick look at those scores.
One, Katya, one.
What about that? One.
Very good.
One.
The best score of the pass by a mile.
We then travel up to 32 where we find Ore and Oti, then up to 37, a hop and a skip to 37 where we find Lesley and AJ.
So you're not that far ahead, AJ.
But we do need a low score from you.
Yes.
We're going to come back down the line now.
Can the second players please step up to the podium? OK.
Now, AJ, you're high scorers at the moment.
Yes.
So let's see if we can find a really nice low-scoring answer on that board.
Um, trying to think which one is going to be the best.
I'm going to go for Anthony Hopkins.
Anthony Hopkins, says AJ.
OK, no red line for you as you're the high scorers.
Let's see how far down the column we get, though, with Anthony Hopkins.
It's right.
Down it goes to 44, that's not bad.
Not bad at all.
81 is your total.
Well-played, AJ, given yourself a chance there.
This is genuinely another true story.
John Sullivan wrote a part for Anthony Hopkins in Only Fools And Horses.
And Anthony Hopkins agreed to do it.
He was due to film it, and then literally got the part of Hannibal Lecter, so he couldn't do it.
Oh.
Wow.
Probably glad, you know.
Hannibal Lecter did him lots of favours.
It wasn't a bad part for him.
Yeah.
But what a shame for John Sullivan, though.
Yes, a shame for Only Fools, yeah.
Yeah.
Anyway there we go, brilliant.
Now then.
Ooh, Oti.
Right, we have a contest here, Oti.
You are on 32, 48 is the score you have to get.
48 or lower.
OK.
What are you going to go for? Um, I'm going to go, because I'm a big fan of sport, for King LeBron James.
King LeBron James, says Oti.
There is your red line, can you get below that? Very well done, you are through to the head-to-head, down that goes to four, that's fantastic.
Taking your total up to 36.
Ah, dear.
We should have Oti and Katya on every week.
Yes, it's a great answer, one of the greatest basketball players of all time, good guy as well, King LeBron James.
He is, he is officially a king.
King? King.
He's the king of Belgium.
So he is.
Weirdly, yeah, yeah.
Ah, OK.
Now, then, here we Oh, look at this, Joe.
Hi.
Joe, one is your score at the moment.
You have to score 79 or less.
79.
She likes to improve my posture.
Look at that.
Alexander Technique, do it! Do you want to talk us through the rest of that board? Er, Camilla, obviously.
Rita Ora, He Who Must Not Be Named in the second row, Oprah, Emma Thompson, one of my favourite actors, the Pope, one of the Gibb brothers, Katy Perry.
Who is going to be the most pointless? Probably Rita Ora? You're going to go for Rita Ora? Yes, please.
OK, here is your red line.
Can you get below this red line with Rita Ora? Let us find out.
It's right.
And you're through! There you go.
Very well done indeed.
Look, down it goes, down it goes to 16, very well done, 17 is your total.
We're much better! Beautifully done, Joe.
Great round from everybody there.
Funnily enough, of the ones you knew, Emma Thompson, I think maybe because the picture doesn't look a million percent like her, it's the lowest scorer, three points for Emma Thompson.
But actually Emma Thompson, Bella Hadid and LeBron James were the best answers on the board anyone could get, so very well done to you all.
Camilla would have scored you 57, next to Vin Diesel, Christine Lagarde, the head of the IMF.
Had a huge hit in the '90s with Unbelievable.
Um, on the second row you have Usain Bolt, 57, then the gentleman you mentioned there, Joe, would have scored you 85.
Oprah would have scored ten points.
Again maybe the picture doesn't a million percent look like her.
Then next to Bella Hadid Pope Francis.
.
.
is Pope Francis.
The hat is the giveaway there.
Isn't it? I always think, yes.
Yeah.
68 points for that.
I have a fact about the Pope, if you're interested? I'd love it.
He's a Catholic.
The final row.
It's one of the Gibbs.
It's Barry, yes.
Would have scored you 19.
It is Katy Perry.
Would have scored you 11.
Then, England football manager at time of recording, Gareth Southgate.
Would have scored you 17.
Thank you very much indeed, Richard.
So, we are at the end of our second round.
We have to say goodbye to one of our pairs.
I'm so sorry, AJ and Lesley, we say goodbye to you.
Goodbye.
Thank you so much for playing.
It's been wonderful having you here.
AJ and Lesley, fabulous.
APPLAUSE Thank you.
But for our two remaining pairs, it is now time for the head-to-head.
Congratulations, Oti and Ore, Joe and Katya, you're now one step closer to the final and a chance to play for our jackpot which currently stands at ã2,500.
APPLAUSE But we have to decide who's going to go through to the final to play for that jackpot, and we're going to do it by making you go head-to-head.
But the big difference, and this is nice, you're now allowed to play as a pair, so you can chat before you give your answers.
And the first pair to win two questions will be playing for that jackpot for their charities.
I know how competitive this is going to be, but may the best pair win! Let's play the head-to-head.
APPLAUSE Here is your first question, and our first question today is all about Ooh.
Ooh.
Richard.
Yes, simply going to show you five clues to things associated with the word "Caesar.
" Can you give us the most obscure answer, please? Thank you very much indeed.
Let's reveal our five clues and here they come.
We've got I'll read those all again.
There we are.
Oti and Ore, you will go first.
Do you know the German one? It's Kaiser.
It's Kaiser.
We've got to use some home advantage here.
Yeah, we're going to go for the German Emperor term, Kaiser.
Kaiser, say Oti and Ore.
Kaiser.
Now then, Joe and Katya, over to you.
Yes.
Talk us through that board or as much of it as you like.
OK.
What's the film? The Nevada city is obviously Las Vegas.
Isn't it? Caesar salad is Parmesan, isn't it? Shall we go for Parmesan? OK.
Yeah.
We'll go for food.
Food is always good.
We're going to go for Parmesan.
OK, so we've got Kaiser, we've got Parmesan.
Oti and Ore are saying Kaiser.
Let's see how many of our 100 people said that.
It's right! Of course it is.
Kaiser is right.
And that takes you down to 34.
APPLAUSE Well done.
34, so it's between Kaiser and Parmesan.
Which of these is going to go lower? You've gone for Parmesan, the cheese in a Caesar salad.
How many of our 100 people went for Parmesan? It's right.
Ooh.
Oh, it's going to be close.
Oh, 38, look at that.
I didn't think it was going to be that close! Very well done indeed, Oti and Ore.
Kaiser wins it for you.
After one question, you're up 1-0.
Yeah, we often say whenever we have sports people on, we do sports specials, they're usually the most competitive shows we do.
This is, this is pushing it, I would say! This is pushing it.
It is competitive.
Very, very good.
Let's take a look at the rest of these answers.
Vegas would not have saved you, it would have scored even more points.
So you went for the right one.
68 points.
Hail Caesar The Coen brothers? The Coen brothers.
Also wouldn't have saved you because it would have scored you 35 points.
Would have been very close.
Now this bottom one is a pointless answer.
Do you know that one at all? No.
No.
Me neither.
It's Bracknell.
Very well done if you said that.
Unless you live in Bracknell, in which case, come on! Ah, thank you very much.
OK, now here comes your second question.
Joe and Katya, you get to answer this one first, but you have to win it to stay in the game, so good luck.
Our second question today is all about Accessories! Richard? We're going to show you five stills now from films featuring various accessories, jewellery, and what have you.
We need you to name the films that you are seeing here, please.
OK.
Thank you very much indeed.
So, from which films are these stills taken? Here they come.
We've got There we are.
Five stills from films.
From which films do those come? Joe and Katya, you get to go first, so feel free to confer.
D, shall we go for D? Let's go for D, because I think it's more of a new movie and less people know about it.
Yeah, make it more pointless.
Shall we go for D? Kingsman.
Kingsman.
OK, Kingsman.
Yes.
Kingsman.
Um, now then.
Oti and Ore, do you want to talk us through the rest of that board? Well, we definitely know B, Breakfast At Tiffany's.
Everybody knows that.
C is obviously Titanic.
And E, I'm thinking, I don't know if Jane Eyre was a film or Sense and Sensibility was a film.
Shall we gamble with E? Yeah, let's gamble.
We're going to go with Sense and Sensibility for E.
OK, E, Sense and Sensibility.
So we've got Kingsman versus Sense and Sensibility.
Now, Joe and Katya went for Kingsman, for D.
Let's see how many of our 100 people said that.
Kingsman's right.
Down it goes to 37, not bad at all.
APPLAUSE Meanwhile, Oti and Ore are going to go for Sense and Sensibility for E.
Let's see if that's right.
Bit of a gamble here, and if it is right, let's see how many people said it.
Is it right? No, bad luck.
Bad luck.
Um, but you know, you were one ahead, you can afford to take a slight risk there.
But well done, Joe and Katya.
After two questions, you're back in the game.
It's 1-1.
Yeah, it's worth the risk, I think, but actually Kingsman is the best answer on the board, so you couldn't have beaten it, whatever you went for.
The one you did go for, it's another Colin Firth movie, Girl With A Pearl Earring.
Girl With A Pearl Earring.
Would have scored you 50 points.
The first one is the biggest scorer, it's Elizabeth Taylor, of course, as Cleopatra.
Cleopatra.
Yeah, Cleopatra coming at ya! Would have scored you 76 points.
And you knew Breakfast At Tiffany's, but it's another big scorer, would have scored 51.
And you knew C as well, which was Titanic.
Doesn't score a huge amount, actually, it scores 48.
Thank you very much indeed.
OK, so here comes your third question.
Whoever wins this one goes through to the final and plays for that jackpot for their charity, so very best of luck to both pairs.
It's exciting.
Our third question this evening is all about Richard.
Look at Joe! That's nice! I mean, you give us some film, and you give us some musicals Oti, literally your first question was German.
That was literally the first thing we asked you! We're going to give you five titles now of Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals but they are in the form of anagrams.
Can you unscramble them and give us the best possible answer? Best of luck, both teams.
OK, let's reveal our five anagrams of Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals, and here they come.
We have got There we are, five anagrams of Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals.
And Oti and Ore, you will go first.
.
.
and to actually make sense of something Thought I knew the first one but We've got one.
We might have to take that one.
Go on, you say it, you've been the best.
Um, we're going to go for the one we can only figure out, which is Evita.
Evita.
For the second one down.
Evita.
OK.
Joe and Katya.
Do you want to talk us through that board? I only have one other, actually.
Can't believe it.
I know, which is probably a higher scorer because it's more famous.
It's harder to figure out.
Phantom Of The Opera.
OK, that's what you're going to go for.
So we've got Evita, we've got Phantom Of The Opera.
Evita is what Oti and Ore are going for, let's see how many of our 100 people said Evita.
Evita is right.
Not bad, look at that, down to 57, that's pretty good.
APPLAUSE Joe and Katya meanwhile going for Phantom Of The Opera for hot map of the open heart.
Let's see how many of our 100 people found Phantom Of The Opera.
It's right.
Now 57 is what you've got to beat.
And down you go! Well done, Phantom Of The Opera, down to 25.
Superb.
That means Joe and Katya, after three questions you are finally through to the final, 2-1.
Well-played.
That's a great head-to-head, everybody.
It's been great fun as well.
Let's take a look.
Shall we fill these in? Yes.
Glass shirt expert.
Got that one.
Starlight Express.
Yes! Ah! And that would have scored 16 points.
Now the bottom one.
Got that one.
Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Exactly.
Had to be a long one.
Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat would have scored you ten.
What's this middle one? This is a pointless answer.
Let's say it's quite an obscure Andrew Lloyd Webber musical.
Tell Me On A Sunday.
Pointless answer.
Very well done if you worked that one out.
It's a great musical, that.
Thank you very much indeed.
So, the pair leaving us at the end of the head-to-head round, I'm so sorry, Oti and Ore, it's you.
Oh, that was a good head-to-head.
I knew it was going to be, right down to the wire it went, but it's been such a treat having you here, and you've been brilliant the whole way through.
Oti and Ore, well done, you.
APPLAUSE But for Joe and Katya, it's now time for our Pointless final.
Well, congratulations, Joe and Katya.
You've seen off all the competition and you've won our coveted Pointless trophy.
You now have a chance to win our Pointless jackpot for your charities, and at the end of today's show, the jackpot is standing at ã2,500.
There it is.
APPLAUSE Ah, can you remember, Katya, this show opened with you scoring 100 points? And then the next round And then! We've come so far! .
.
you scored one point.
Boom.
That's how you do it.
So, I mean, you've taken us absolutely round the houses, but here you are, you've made it through to the final round.
What do you want to see come up in this last round? Joe, I'm going to ask you first.
No sport, no history.
Nothing that requires me to use my brain, really.
OK, fair enough.
Katya, how about you? Something to fashion would be good, maybe.
Dance, not so much, actually.
You'd think, but we don't know much about dancing, different types of dancing.
OK.
Well, four things will appear on the board behind me.
You have to choose one of these, so we've just got to hope one of these appeals to you.
We've got Probably between Motown and 2017, what do you think? Yeah, which one? I'm drawn to Motown.
Are you? Yeah.
We'll go for Motown.
OK, Motown.
Motown it is.
OK, very best of luck.
Take your answers from all or any of these categories.
I hope at least one of them suits you.
We are looking for any song on the original pressing of Stevie Wonder's Songs In The Key Of Life.
Yes! We're looking for any song featured in Motown: The Musical, the West End musical.
Any song featured in that musical.
And we're looking for any artist who had a song in the 100 Greatest Motown Songs Of All Time published by Mojo magazine to celebrate 50 years of Motown.
Very, very best of luck.
Thank you very much indeed.
Now, as always, you've got up to a minute to come up with three answers.
Just one of those answers has to be pointless for you to win that jackpot.
Are you ready? Yeah.
I think so.
OK.
Let's put 60 seconds up on the clock.
There they are.
Your time starts now.
OK, so All In Love Is Fair is from Songs In The Key Of life.
It's one of my favourite albums.
OK.
I should know it.
There's one called Innervisions, I think that might be a song as well.
Songs featured in the Motown musical Which one are we dancing to? What is it, # The fabulous Listen ABC, 1-2-3, ABC, Michael Jackson.
Didn't he have all those songs on it, don't they? HE CLEARS HIS THROA Erm, or Dancing In The Streets, is that Motown? No.
Any artist, that's a wide range.
Artists of the 100 greatest Motown songs.
Just name any.
It's an answer.
Aretha Franklin Yeah, that's the thing.
Those are the big ones.
What's the one we danced the cha-cha to? Keep me hanging on What's her name? Ten seconds left.
Um, I can't remember.
We could say Aretha.
We could say Michael Jackson, we could say We need pointless.
Yeah, I know, I know, but we're not going to go pointless, we need to get one OK, that, I'm afraid, is your minute up.
I'm so sorry.
What can you give me? Um, I definitely know a couple of SongsIn The Key Of Life.
All In Love Is Fair.
All In Love Is Fair.
Yes, please.
We're going to submit that.
Let's do Innervisions, because I'm pretty sure Innervisions, OK, we'll pop that up there as well.
Shall we do a Motown artist? Yeah, go for artist.
Dionne Warwick? That's a good one because I don't know it.
OK, Dionne Warwick.
Dionne Warwick.
OK.
Of those three, which is your best shot at a pointless answer? Maybe Dionne.
OK, Dionne Warwick goes last.
Least likely to be pointless? All In Love Is Fair is a really well-known song, so probably a lot of people would say that.
All In Love Is Fair and Innervisions goes in the middle.
Yes, please.
OK, well, let's put those answers up on the board in that order then, and here they are.
We have got Let's hope one of those is pointless and will win that jackpot for your charities.
Can I ask what charities are you playing for, Joe? Mine is Variety, the children's charity, who do such amazing work with sick and disadvantaged kids up and down the country, they're a brilliant charity.
Very good indeed.
Katya? I'm playing for Para Dance UK.
They do a lot of work with wheelchair dancing and our motto is, everyone can dance.
Wonderful.
And they can! APPLAUSE Two lovely charities, there.
Let's hope one of these answers will win that jackpot for your charities.
The first answer was All In Love Is Fair.
In this case, we were looking for any song from Stevie Wonder's Songs In The Key Of Life.
Is it even on it? Now let's find out, for ã2,500, how many people said All In Love Is Fair.
Is it pointless? No! Oh, no! I thought that was a brilliant answer.
Oh, no.
It's on a different album? It's on Innervisions! We will discover, we will discover.
Did you mix it around? OK, let's Oh, no! We'll find out soon enough.
Oh, no! So, we turn to your next answer, Innervisions.
OK.
Ha! We're looking for songs on Songs In The Key Of Life.
You've gone for Innervisions.
If it's right, and it's pointless, you leave here with ã2,500 for your charities.
How many people said Innervisions? No! Joe, I'm sorry.
I'm so sorry.
Come on, Dionne! Don't let me down! OK.
Everything is now riding on your third and final answer, Dionne Warwick.
We are looking for any of the artists on the 100 greatest Motown songs list.
Let's find out if it's right, let's find out if it's pointless.
If Dionne Warwick is pointless, you leave here with ã2,500.
How many people said Dionne Warwick? Oh, no! She's not Motown? Oh, oh.
Or she didn't have one of the 100 songs.
Well, listen, we will discover, we will discover soon enough what went wrong there.
I'm afraid you didn't manage to find that all-important pointless answer, so you don't win that jackpot for your charities.
But, as it's a celebrity special, we are going to donate ã500 to each celebrity pair for their respective charities.
And don't forget, you get to take home the wonderful Pointless trophy and it's been lovely having you on the show.
Thank you so much.
Yes, terrific stuff, and listen, you know exactly what happened.
All In Love Is Fair is from the album Innervisions, and yeah, Dionne Warwick was never on Motown.
There was no doubt she would have been on the list if she had, but she wasn't signed to Motown.
Shall we take a look at some of the answers now? I know you're going to know so many of these.
Yes, please.
We'll start with tracks on Songs In The Key Of life.
As is a pointless answer, that of course Mary J Blige and George Michael covered.
I Wish, Pastime Paradise, that's what Coolio sampled on Gangsta's Paradise.
Village Ghetto Land as well.
Isn't She Lovely, Sir Duke, Have A Talk With God, and Love's In Need Of Love Today, the only ones that scored points on that.
Everything else was a pointless answer.
Now those songs featured in Motown: The Musical.
Some big songs here.
Ain't No Mountain High Enough, Ball Of Confusion, I Want You Back, the Jacksons, Please, Mr Postman was a pointless answer, Ain't Too Proud To Beg, Happy Birthday, Stevie Wonder.
Signed, Sealed, Delivered is a pointless answer there as well.
Super Freak and War by Edwin Starr was a pointless answer.
Talking of Edwin Starr, those artists on the 100 greatest Motown songs, he was a pointless answer there as well.
As were Frankie Valli And The Four Seasons, Tammi Terrell, and the Isley Brothers.
Barrett Strong also a pointless answer.
The biggest scorer there, the Supremes and the Jackson Five.
Very well done if you got any of those at home.
That was fun, what a fun show.
That was a brilliant show.
So great.
Ah, well, thank you so much, Richard, and thank you so much, Joe and Katya, really sorry you didn't win, but we've loved having you on the show.
Thank you so much for playing.
Joe and Katya, everyone, superb.
APPLAUSE Join us next time when we'll be putting more obscure knowledge to the test on Pointless.
Meanwhile, it's goodbye from Richard.
Goodbye.
And it's goodbye from me, goodbye.
APPLAUSE
