Steven Seagal: Lawman (2009) s02e05 Episode Script

On Dangerous Ground

Jefferson Parish Yeah, and the truck-- saw a body in the driveway.
He's laying on the ground? Gonna be 5'3", about 140.
crime scene.
Just so you know, he's got a gun.
Police! Hands up! Get that guy.
He just shoved something in his mouth.
Dog coming in.
Man, that's a lot of crack cocaine, boy, huh? Kunzang.
I love all my kids more than anything in the world.
Appa.
Kunzang is the latest addition, and he's the light of my life.
Stay with daddy.
Suspicious persons with a gun.
Black male running.
[Man yelling.]
Hey! Hey! Hey! Police! Stop! Get on the ground! Get on the ground! I make a living in the movies, but for the past 20 years I've also been a cop.
And along with some of the finest deputies on the force, I serve the people of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.
Code 94-G, shots fired.
My name is Steven Seagal.
All units respond.
That's right, Steven Seagal, Deputy Sheriff.
We're headed over to meet with narcotics where they have obtained a warrant for a particular residence and an arrest warrant for an individual who they believe to be selling crack cocaine.
Our suspect's a black male, about 6 feet tall, thick build, shoulder-length dreads.
Inside the apartment, there's supposedly a .
45 caliber gun that's in the bedroom that's all the way in the back.
What kind of priors he got? Uh, we don't know his last name, but we have a couple informants that gave us good intelligence.
Intelligence says there's firearms in the back of the house, which doesn't mean that they wouldn't have time to get to it before we kick the door in.
That's why we've got to get in quick.
It's going to be me with the shield going in first, followed by the long gun.
Chief Seagal is going to be third, and the rest of the crew can follow in however we see fit.
All right.
The plan is to enter through the front door, secure the apartment, and arrest our suspect so we can execute the search.
Everybody's together? Yeah.
He's rolling.
Follow him back there.
Supposed to be the bottom left over here.
Bottom left, right there.
Go ahead.
Right here.
[Radio chatter.]
No, it's the next one.
Police! Hands up, hands up! Hands up, hands up, hands up! [Men yelling.]
Come over here, over here.
Down on the ground, man.
Get that guy.
He just shoved something in his mouth.
He rammed it in his throat.
Facedown, facedown.
Just looking for a gun, man.
That's what I want.
When we hit the house, we encountered a lot more people than we anticipated.
We had to get everybody safe quick, and now everything's under control, so we're talking to everybody.
Are there drugs and guns in this house? All right, then you ain't got nothing to worry about.
The guy we were looking for was apprehended, but another guy tried to swallow something, possibly drugs.
So the team decided to pepper spray him.
Bring his ass outside and douse him down.
Lean back, I'm gonna pour this on your face, okay? You ready? All right, look up.
Look up.
We got to get it in your eyes.
- You all right? - Try blinking, okay? It burns.
I know.
We've all been hit.
- We've all been through it.
- Try blinking.
Blink as much as you can while I throw this water on you, all right? It's going to suck, but we got to get it out of you.
Yeah.
Dog coming in.
They bring in the dog, and he alerts, and we search.
Drug dealers always hide their stash, but they also need quick access to it.
When I search, a lot of times, I'm always searching in places where narcotics could be kind of hidden in plain sight.
They look in the mitts yet? I don't know.
So let's take a look.
What do we see? [Chuckles.]
Boy, these boys are not playing, huh? Man, that's a lot of crack cocaine, boy.
Huh? You find anything in here? This was in the kid's closet in the pocket of the kid's jacket.
How much cash? $660 so far.
It's real common for these guys to hide drugs and stuff in the kid's room, like in their toys.
For them, they think that's probably the most clever place to hide it.
I think if people are going to be slinging drugs, it's really good if they don't have kids.
That's what I think.
You going to jail, partner.
Yeah.
Yeah, man, dead serious.
What really gets me in this case is that there's kids living in this house.
Drugs, weapons, violence, they all go together.
That's for sure.
I just don't understand how you could put your own people in harm's way.
Hey, Medellin! Here, Medellin, here.
Let's go.
Look at daddy with his two doggies.
Right, Kunzang? Whenever I'm working in Jefferson Parish, I always bring my wife and my baby Kunzang with me.
Look at that.
He's getting big and strong.
I have six children, and I love all my kids more than anything in the world.
Kunzang is the latest addition, and he's the light of my life.
I'll bring you here.
Stay with daddy.
I met my wife, Elle, in Mongolia about eight years ago when I was there to raise money and try to finance a movie about Genghis Khan.
He was doing some location scouting and casting.
I was translating for a famous costume designer.
I was interpreting for her, so And that's how I met Steven.
Appa.
When I first met Steven, I got quite a powerful feeling about him.
He was just, beautiful man, you know, very powerful and very strong and a lot of energy.
[Whispering.]
Just spending time with her, I think we became deeper and deeper attached and noticed our connection with each other and finally decided to get married and devote our lives to each other.
He's tired; You want to take him upstairs? You sleepy? Daddy is going to work soon.
We're just, all three of us, completely in love with each other, and it's amazing.
Mama, this is going to go in my police bag.
Okay.
When he goes on patrol, I just want him to catch bad guys and come home safe, because, you know, Kunzang and I are waiting for him.
All righty.
All set.
Okay.
Love you.
Return.
See you tomorrow.
I love you.
Don't forget, tomorrow's Valentine's day, you know? This is gonna be the first Valentine's day that my wife and I are here together in Jefferson Parish, so I wanted to know if you'd ask Kris if she'll maybe recommend to me a nice flower shop.
Could you call her and ask her for me, since you know her better than I do? I sure hope that I know my wife better than you do.
Suspicious persons with a gun.
Somebody saw him sitting there with a gun.
[Sirens wailing.]
You never know what's gonna happen.
The guy's supposed to have a gun in the car.
You don't know if he's allowed to have it, could have just committed a crime, he maybe going to commit a crime.
[Horn honks.]
What number block is this? It's 2200.
Those are the guys we're looking for.
Turn in that parking lot right there.
They're running.
They're running.
They're going right through this alleyway.
Right through that cut.
Police, stop! Police, stop! [sirens wailing.]
Those are the guys we're looking for.
They're running.
They're running.
They're going right through this alleyway.
Right through that cut.
Police, stop! Stop! We got subjects running, headquarters.
They running toward Max on Alex Kornman.
Is it this way or this way? No sign of them here.
All right, 10-4.
I'm walking through now.
I'm just gonna go check it out.
I knew they were gonna run.
They've got to be in one of these apartments by now.
This car? Right there.
The blue car.
Yeah, see they were sitting on this car.
There's one of them's hats.
There's his drink.
He had a drink in his hand.
There's a few abandoned apartments around here.
They could have ducked into any of them.
They came right through here.
Checking an abandoned apartment.
Copy that.
We're coming to back you up.
Get in the car.
I'm gonna go through the cut.
Sheriff's office! Sheriff's office! [Men yelling.]
Hey, hey, hey! [Speaking indistinctly.]
Black male running towards Alex Kornman.
All right, we'll try to cut him off on the North side.
Get on the ground! Get on the ground! Get on the ground! Get on the ground! All right, he cut through the neighborhood.
He's westbound on foot.
Watch it.
Watch it.
Watch it.
Johnny He could be three or four streets over by now.
[Coughs.]
[bleep.]
.
Larry, we're gonna head over to the apartments and do a search there.
Yeah, 10-4.
Larry, you was up on his ass.
What, did he come out the window? Yeah.
When we went in, he jumped out.
This is the apartment that guy came out of.
All right, clear.
Bathroom's clear.
Watch out for that hypo on the floor right there.
Probably heroin.
Looks like they've been using this place as a shooting pad.
There's more evidence of hypodermic drug use.
Little cup right there where they were shooting it, right here.
We started out chasing two guys with guns, and we end up discovering a heroin den.
That's the crazy nature of this job.
He jumped right out that-- up there? Larry, I--I thought you had him, man.
I was on him.
I can't fit through them little holes, but we made them bigger for next time.
That's what I do.
I hurt myself all over, bro.
You know what's the craziest thing, though? Here's a guy that jumps out of an eight-foot window and doesn't get a scratch.
You know, I've seen people step down two steps and break an ankle.
Yeah.
He jumps out of an eight-foot window down to cement below and doesn't miss a beat.
Yeah.
We didn't get the bad guys this time, but at least we get to go home safe tonight.
Hey, what you doing? Steven was talking about Valentine's day, and he wanted to ask you for some suggestions where he can get some flowers and candy for Elle.
Yeah, that's it, Westbank Flowers.
All right, well, we'll swing by over there.
Love you too.
All right, bye.
They don't have chocolates there, do they? They could possibly.
'Cause I got to get flowers and chocolate.
I just want to get lucky.
[Laughs.]
Ladies, I brought y'all a customer.
He needs something for his wife.
Hello! Hello! How y'all doing? How you doing? Can you guys deliver? Yes.
What can you do me? Teddy bear with the nice box of heart candies, the Elvis heart.
We can do that for you.
All right, let's see what I get.
Ooh, I get to tickle somebody.
These golden roses are beautiful.
Something really good.
Okay.
We can do that.
We'll have you fixed up.
Elle and I have spent our Valentine's days in many places around the world.
I could do, like, all of these, just all of this like that.
This year I just wanted to do something real intimate and traditional.
A big arrangement with the four dozen roses.
Can I make it five? And some chocolates.
Y'all had some chocolates, right? Yep.
Yes.
Steven.
Keith, get everybody.
Tell them to come out.
I want to get next to you.
Oh, you're a big man.
Whoo! One, two, three.
Thank you, ladies.
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
You made our day.
Thank you.
Happy Valentine's day to y'all.
You too.
All right, bye-bye.
I think this is going to be a really nice surprise for my wife.
[Horn blaring.]
Johnny, the car that was speeding, wasn't it a Monte Carlo? Yes.
That's him for sure.
Pull in there, Larry.
Copy the plate.
He's reaching for something! Let me see your hands! That's the car that was speeding.
Yes.
That's him for sure.
Pull in there, Larry.
He's reaching for something! Let me see your hands! Why don't y'all step out the car, man.
[Radio chatter.]
We thought you had a gun, man.
You got any weapons in your car? No, sir.
What are you doing, man? What were you reaching for, man? - You reaching for your food? - Yes, sir.
Do you understand why I had to draw my weapon on you, you reaching under the seat here? Sorry, sir.
Well, then you won't mind if we just take a look, right? You got any drugs on you? Any weed or anything? You mind if I check? Stand up.
Well, lookee here.
That's kind of a big bag of weed you got on you.
You don't have anything else on you? No, sir.
All right.
Let me ask you a question.
What is that? That's what-- what it is, sir.
I need you to tell me.
All right, and whose is it? Is that what you were reaching for when we pulled up? - Yes.
- All right.
- That's all I needed.
- Yes, sir.
See, when they're packaged like that in those little packages, you just get the sneaking suspicion that it's for sale.
This your money, man? Yeah, it came out of his front left pocket.
How much money you got? You know? Yeah, it should be about $350, sir.
- $350? - Yes, sir.
You have this much money because you're slinging, or you just have that much money? Uh-huh.
The reason we pulled y'all over is 'cause when you y'all left out of Mount Kennedy, y'all had a little high rate of speed.
And then when we pulled up on y'all, y'all looked a little nervous.
But that's the reason we were gonna pull y'all over initially for that little traffic violation.
Yep.
Yep, positive for marijuana.
Send me a transport unit over to Ames.
Well, we were talking to your partner, and he said it's his marijuana, and he's going to take that charge, so we don't have to worry about nothing else.
Can you send crime scenes to the location, please? Transport's here now.
So this started out as a routine traffic stop, and, as sometimes happens, this turned out to be something a little bit more.
We found this guy with a significant amount of marijuana, and we had to arrest him.
You never know.
Drugs are really damaging in these communities, whether it's parents slinging or young people just going the wrong way.
The people who are dealing don't seem to think twice about any consequences.
It's a shame, man, a damn shame.
[Mellow instrumental music.]
Hello.
Mama! Where would you like us to put them? Oh, my God.
One, two, three, four, five.
It's the most beautiful set of flowers I've ever seen.
Well, she was definitely surprised, and when I saw the smile on her face, I knew I'd done pretty good.
Happy Valentine's day.
Thank you guys for coming.
Thank you.
They're amazing.
Spending Valentine's day at home with Steven and my son is truly wonderful.
And all these beautiful surprises, just amazing.
But most importantly, I'm just glad that Steven is home safe.
Being a police officer is rewarding; It's fun.
It's fulfilling, the thing that makes us different from most people is that we raised our hand, and we took an oath.
And the real guys will give their life for a total stranger at the drop of a hat, if he has to.
But conversely, in looking at this beautiful baby and his mother, I also look at all my other fellow officers and myself in a sort of a new light, you know, and hope and pray every day that we all get to come home at night.
