Steven Seagal: Lawman (2009) s02e06 Episode Script

Gimme Shelter

Jefferson Parish Yeah, and the truck-- saw a body in the driveway.
He's laying on the ground? Gonna be 5'3", about 140.
crime scene.
Just so you know, he's got a gun.
This is a hit-and-run.
This guy's gonna kill somebody if we don't get him off the road.
How you got that damage to your car if you didn't hit all these people, man, huh? That's a burglary in progress.
There's your guy, right there.
Stolen plate could mean a stolen car.
There he is.
Get him.
Go, go, go, go, go! I make a living in the movies, but for the past 20 years I've also been a cop.
And along with some of the finest deputies on the force, I serve the people of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.
Code 94-G shots fired.
My name is Steven Seagal.
All units respond.
That's right, Steven Seagal, Deputy Sheriff.
This is an area where we're constantly called to.
Very problematic area, high crime.
We've had a couple murders back here.
We had a double murder-- double murder right over there.
Right on the canal bank.
Ya-huh.
Man All right, y'all, you heard that.
We just got a hit from the LPRS on a stolen plate on a white mustang.
Roger.
Stolen plate could mean stolen car.
We've got over 70 license plate recognition cameras in Jefferson Parish.
If a stolen car or stolen plate passes through one of them, we'll get a photograph of that car on our Blackberries, and we'll get a direction of flight.
There it is.
White mustang with big giant "who dat" sticker across the back windshield.
How the They steal a Mustang with a big "who dat" sticker on it? I think the question is, "who dat stole that car?" When you come up on a stolen car, there can be many different scenarios.
Worst-case scenario is that they can pull a weapon and you can get into a gunfight.
So lots of bad things can happen.
That's only a few blocks away, man.
Let's go.
Yeah, we coming.
Uh-oh, he's coming right in front of us.
Pull over in that side street up in there.
He's headed right this way.
Keep your eyes open.
Let's get this guy.
There he is.
Get him.
Get him.
Uh-oh.
Get him.
Go, go, go! Pull over.
Pull over now.
Get out of the vehicle.
Let me see your hands, man.
Don't be reaching down.
Get out.
Come on back here, man.
People will steal cars for all kinds of different reasons.
Sometimes it's just to go on a joyride.
Sometimes they'll steal a car to commit a violent crime.
All right, go ahead and search him.
Your registration is in the glove box? Yeah.
You mind if I get it out? Go ahead.
- Is this your car? - Yeah.
This vehicle was reported stolen.
- All right, you got carjacked.
- Yeah.
When did you get it back? But it's still an outstanding stolen vehicle.
All right, run the VIN on this vehicle, please.
Brian, confirm that this vehicle was carjacked.
You mind if I take a look in your car? No.
Can you master search this guy's name for me? This vehicle is coming up with a stolen plate.
Driver's claiming that he was carjacked six months ago and that the vehicle was recovered that night.
He's got paperwork saying he bought the car in Kenner.
He bought it last year.
Is this your license plate, man? - Yeah.
- Okay.
Let me tell you what's going on.
Kenner police has this report of this license plate actually being stolen.
The license plate is a stolen license plate.
This guy's claiming that he didn't steal the plate, but there's something fishy going on.
We're gonna take the license plate off of this vehicle.
Okay? People steal license plates for a lot of reasons.
Sometimes it's just to avoid registration fee.
And sometimes it's so they can commit a crime without the vehicle being traced back to them.
Right now, it's not clear who stole these plates, but the driver of this vehicle is also wanted on some outstanding attachments, so he has to go for a ride.
The occupant of this vehicle also had an outstanding attachment, so he's also going to jail.
All right, so let's go.
Man, it's wet out there tonight, y'all.
And it's been raining all night, just like a little mini Katrina done rolled up through here.
Copy that.
Just got a radio call.
with injuries, possibly serious injuries.
We're headed over there right now.
We got something going on up here, man.
What we got? That's got to be it, right there, no? Yeah.
What's going on, man? Ran into the side of her? Where'd the big truck went? Which way did the truck go? What kind of truck was it? Holy .
We got to go.
He hit and ran twice.
Sounds like somebody smashing into multiple cars and driving off.
Let's go get it.
We got to get this guy off the road before he kills somebody.
We got to go.
He hit and ran twice.
Let's go get him.
It's a hit-and-run, and we've now heard that there's another hit-and-run.
This is individual is just going along and hitting people.
Well, he's crazy.
Oh, is he crazy.
This guy's gonna kill somebody if we don't get him off the road.
We're approaching the second hit-and-run.
That's it right there.
Man.
You see how he tore that back end up there, Johnny? Whoo, he hit him good.
He's got a lot of damage.
Look at the back of that-- there's EMS.
EMS has arrived and is taking care of the victim.
We're gonna stay on the hunt for the hit-and-run driver.
Lapalco and Westwood? That's right here.
They got him at Lapalco and 90, John.
Lapalco and 90, right up here.
Looks like one of our units has just spotted the suspect right up ahead.
Put on your big girl panties, boys.
Clear right, clear right.
Is the mother-here, man? What, you been drinking a little? No.
Well, how come you hit two people, man? You hit two cars, didn't you? - Huh? - No.
No? How you got that damage to your car if you didn't hit all these people, man, huh? The is wrong with this guy? This is the vehicle that's involved in a couple hit-and-runs right now.
She's got pretty good front-end damage right here.
Is this another victim? - He hit you too? - Yes, sir.
So that's three, and that's within about five minutes.
You had anything to drink tonight, sir? No alcoholic beverages? Are you on prescription medicine? I said, "why'd you hit this guy?" He said, "I didn't hit nobody.
" I said, "how you got that damage to your car?" He said, "oh, it was already there.
" He appeared to be speaking with a slurred speech, seemed a little out of it.
I believe at this time a traffic investigator is gonna come out and conduct a field sobriety test.
But in the meantime, he's gonna be under arrest for the hit-and-run offenses.
People like that we don't need on the road, man.
Jump in, guys.
Let's go.
The Rottweiler without a tail trim.
Guy's got a dog in the bed of a pickup truck with no tailgate.
Looks like the dog might be chained down or something.
That pisses me off.
We need to talk to this guy.
I don't like the way you got that dog tied like that.
It's just not so safe, man.
I'm sorry.
I'm on my way--I live right-- Sir, the dog barely can hold his balance in the back of your truck.
I don't like the way you got this.
It's not right.
Yes, sir.
I'm a dog man.
I got a lot of dogs.
That's a choke collar on him, man.
That thing pulls on him.
Every time you take a turn, it's gonna tighten up and pull on his throat.
Can't you put him in the cab with you? Right now, sir? Yeah, he's having trouble.
Yeah, man, put your dog inside the cab.
Put the dog inside the thing, man.
- Yes, sir.
- Let's go.
Well, I want to make sure he does it too.
We're making him put the dog in the truck where he's safe.
We're out here to try to protect everybody, even dogs.
Anybody who could be harmed in any way, we're out here to try to help.
All right, man, be careful going home, man.
Not a problem, sir.
- Thank you.
- All right.
I hope that guy learned something from this.
You can't just drive around with a dog chained up like that, man.
It's not safe.
Seeing that dog chained to the truck the other night really got me, and I've been hearing about the difficulties the Jefferson Parish animal shelter has in getting their dogs adopted.
Most of the animals there are abused or abandoned, and if they don't get homes, they're put to sleep.
And that's my wife and I are here.
We have plenty of animals that need your attention and would like some human interaction.
So want to come on back? Let's do it.
Oh, my goodness.
Yeah.
What's happening, baby? I love Shepherds.
Beautiful.
There are a lot of Pit Bulls.
Pit bulls have a hard time getting adopted 'cause they get a bad rap.
Look at this one, mama.
Let's take him outside and show him a little love.
Look how nice this dog is.
Huh? What's your name? Tawny.
He was found running stray.
What a sweetheart.
This guy got to get a home.
What are the chances? Well, like I said, Pit Bulls do have a bit of a rough time, because we do get in so many.
We have to put down about two out of three of them.
It's a harsh reality.
That's what happens when you have a heart.
When my wife heard that this dog might have a bit of a difficult time getting a home, it was a little bit too much for her.
We both love animals, and I'm gonna try to make it my mission to get this dog a home too.
What can my wife and I do to help get these dogs adopted? Well, we have an adoption event this weekend.
Yeah? And if you could make it, that would be great.
We should come.
Absolutely.
I'm hoping on Saturday I can find some of these abandoned dogs a home.
Most of these breeds will get snatched up pretty quick.
I'm hoping that Tawny does too.
That's a burglary in progress.
Got to get there quick and see what it is.
That's a burglary in progress.
We just want to get there quick, 'cause it could be anything.
It could be domestic dispute, a violent crime, panic buttons, alarm calls.
It could be a real break-in.
We just got to see what it is.
Looks like there's a unit already on the scene.
Let's see if he needs backup.
There's your guy, right there.
That's him.
Who's in the house, man? This is my mother's home.
Where's your mother at right now? My mother's at work.
What's going on? Well, we just got a call of someone of your description trying to break into this house.
This gentleman says that he lives here.
We've got to get some I.
D.
and see if he really does live here and investigate and see what we can find out.
What's going on, really, though, honestly, dude? His mama called the police for him? You the mother's boyfriend? - Yeah.
- Oh, okay.
How long you been living with your mother? About eight months.
- She pays the rent? - Yeah.
Does he live here? You and your mama have any problems? I mean, every now and again, we have our little differences, but we have no problems.
Brian, call his mother and get her side of the story.
Show us where he tried to break in.
He threw a coconut through the back window? Man.
So he wasn't really trying to steal anything.
He just wanted to get back in the house because he lives there.
Oh, yeah.
Hi, this is Detective Brinser of the Sheriff's Office.
So you told him yesterday to get out? Did you file any eviction papers? Well, this is his residence, so he is afforded the right to all the legal processes just as if you were renting a room to him.
So you have to file an eviction through the Justice of the Peace.
All right, thank you, ma'am.
Threw a coconut through the back window.
He what? Threw a coconut through her back window.
- He did? - Mm-hmm.
He wasn't formally evicted, so it's still his residence, but he did throw a coconut through the back window.
Turns out to be his window and his coconut.
Warrants for his arrest.
Ya-huh.
Wow.
Pretty clear-cut.
This boy's gonna have to go in.
We're gonna charge him with six of those attachments.
Burglaries, break-ins, they can be very, very serious.
Watch your feet.
But luckily, it turned out to be a family situation and we got it settled quickly.
Oh, I like that.
Oh, you're good, mama.
You're good.
My wife and I are at the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter Adoption event today.
We're here to try to save the lives of a bunch of dogs.
How y'all doing? Hey.
Oh, there's Tawny.
I remember this guy.
Tawny's a really great dog, really great dog.
All right, y'all, let's start adopting.
Come on, now.
What a cute dog.
All right, who's gonna adopt this dog? Hello.
You? Huh? What do you think about this dog? He's got potential.
What you think, mama? I'll say some prayers.
He's a really affectionate, beautiful dog.
What do you think? You gonna take him? All right.
All right! Yay! Hello.
Hey, there, boy.
We're thinking about adopting him.
Did you spend some time with him? Yeah, we've been playing with him all day, so He's really gentle.
I mean, with your blessing, we'd gladly adopt him.
Yeah, I'll give you the blessing.
- Really? - Yeah.
All right.
Two down.
Today I want to get as many dogs as possible adopted, but Tawny's kind of a mission.
My wife kind of fell in love with this dog, so we really wanted to make sure he got a home.
Well, these people are looking at him.
That's a cool dog.
Not just the way he looks, but he's nice.
So they brought their little poodle over so that he could meet.
Well, he's gonna get along with your poodle over there fine.
Oh, my God.
It'd be really great if Tawny could go home with y'all today.
Will you take him? Yes.
Yay! They got him! All right.
Good job.
Not coming back to the shelter--good thing.
Oh, my God! Thank you! There you go.
When I was at the animal shelter, you know, I was feeling very emotional and sad to see all those beautiful dogs at the shelter.
Come on, baby.
Today I feel much better because I see them, you know, finding home, and we were able to parcipate in that, and it's-- it feels great.
Today a lot of dogs got homes.
Thank y'all.
Thank you.
Good job.
Thank you, sweetheart.
You too.
It was great.
This is the way we came, I think, isn't it? Yes.
It was my honor to help the animals of this Parrish.
