The Amazing Race Australia (2011) s04e02 Episode Script

Season 4, Episode 2

Previously on The
Amazing Race Australia
Go!
..our teams hit the ground
running in South Korea.
Go.
Go, go, go.
Alliances were forged
Do you guys want to work
together for the leg?
Let's do it.
Alright. Let's do it.
Yes!
..miracles happened
I was walking on water.
We've got this because we've
got the big fella on our side.
..and true colours were revealed.
Shall we take some of their dumplings?
I'm going to hell after this.
We'll do whatever it takes to win.
Oh, my God.
And our first team was eliminated,
while footy mates, Tom and Tyler,
powered to the pit stop first.
Come on!
Good job.
Tonight, we cross the country
to the most heavily guarded border
on earth
We all know who's over there,
Rocket Man.
..for the most extreme challenge yet.
What disaster
costs one team
me dead.
..the race?
I can hear our boat going down.
One of the largest cities in Asia,
Seoul is home
to nearly 25 million people
and is the capital of South Korea.
It's here at Cheonggye Plaza
deep in the heart of Seoul,
that the 10 teams will depart
for the second leg
of the Amazing Race Australia.
Teams will depart in the order
they arrived at the pit stop
during the last leg.
It's a good rip.
The first cab off the rank
is our footy mates, Tom and Tyler.
"Make your way to
the Gwanghwamun Plaza
"and find the fountains."
Teams will have to make their way
to Gwanghwamun Plaza.
Once there, they'll have to
accurately count the 364 waterspouts
that fill the plaza
before presenting their guess
to the gardener.
If they're correct, they'll be
presented with their next clue.
Do you know where Gwanghwamun Plaza is?
We've got to be looking
over our shoulder for everybody.
They're all extremely capable teams.
Hopefully we can do well
in the sports challenges.
Do you want to cross here?
Yeah.
Mentally, I think we just need
to try to not look like idiots.
"You have 224,000 Korean
won for this leg of the race."
Alright. Let's go.
Let's go. Ooh. That way.
Being siblings, we used to argue a lot.
There's fountains there.
There's fountains right there.
Our fear going in was that Joey's
energy would piss me off too much.
Come on!
You're not the only one.
Nice.
Can you see something?
What does that sign say?
- Oh
- Gwanghwamun.
Let's go.
Let's do it.
Have you got the clue?
We want that number one.
We want to come in first.
Watch your backs, Tom and Tyler.
Excuse me. Do you guys know
where the fountains are?
I think you have to go to that way.
The plaza is that way.
Aside from being nurses, we've
known each other for a long time
since we're, like, five years old.
Do you think we can cross this road?
Most teams are really just running
around as hard as they can
banging themselves up, getting tired
on the second day.
That just doesn't
make much sense to us.
Hi.
Hi.
Do you know where the fountains are?
Plenty more legs to go,
so just don't get eliminated.
OK. So, we're a kilometre away.
Alright.
I think it's just there. That way.
Yeah.
Oh, it's just here, mate.
Alright. Counting every fountain,
even the ones that are off.
You take that side, I'll take
We've gonna get together.
Let's go.
One, two, three, four, five, six.
Yeah, we're good.
Let's go.
We both count at the same time.
Count carefully. Yeah?
Two, four, six, eight, ten.
We're currently in sixth place.
So we're ready to rock'n'roll
and move up the ranks hopefully.
Alright.
Plaza. Fountains.
Let's go, Jude.
We started from the bottom
but we had a game plan
Now, Lord, we need a taxi.
..giving some time to God
and saying, "We need your help."
Hey, Judy! Judy!
That's our secret weapon.
God bless you.
You know where to go?
Gwanghwamun Plaza.
OK. Count. What am I counting?
- All around? OK.
- Yes.
- 34.
- 34.
What's seven times eight?
Seven times eight. 56. Is that right?
Oh, my God. Why are we so dumb?
Hi. 294.
- Nope.
- Gosh.
OK. We've gotta count
Even the ones that aren't working.
- You go that side, I'll go the other.
- Yeah.
- 7, 8, 9, 10, 11.
- 17 times 8.
14 17.
Just count it by maths.
One, two, three, four,
five, six, seven, eight.
- 136. Yeah. 136.
- Is it? OK.
Eight times Go, just
add that up for me.
- 111.
- 10.
It was challenging because
they kept turning on and off
Our biggest struggle was
adding them up at the end.
I haven't done maths in a few years.
- Hello. Is it 364?
- 364.
- Thank you. Beautiful. Thank you.
- Thank you. Let's go.
"Make your way
to the demilitarised zone
"and leave a message of peace
and hope for the people of Korea."
Teams will now make their way
by taxi to the demilitarised zone,
90 kilometres north of Seoul.
The DMZ was established at
the end of the Korean War
and is one of the most heavily
guarded borders in the entire world.
The demilitarised zone is a two
kilometre stretch of no-man's-land
between the safety here of South Korea
and the uncertainty of North Korea.
We all know who is over there,
Kim Jong un, or as I like
to call him, Rocket Man.
When they arrive at the DMZ,
they've got to locate
the prayer ribbon fence
next to the abandoned rail line
that connects the two countries.
The teams will have to write
a message of love and hope
and place it alongside
thousands of others
in order to receive their next clue.
The team behind us, Viv and Joey,
they're our little alliance.
I was considering if we just told
them what the answer was there.
But I thought they'd just
get it. It's just counting.
96 plus 40 is 136.
I'm confused.
You've got two 250.
Three, six, four. Three, six, four.
- Hello.
- Hello.
Yeah.
- Yes. Tim. Tim. Tim. Taxi.
- Oh.
- Seven times seven is 49. 364.
- Yeah.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
- Which number? This?
- Yeah.
- Alright. Go.
- Hello?
Is it 364?
Oh, thank God.
I ceased my relationship with
maths methods in Year 12.
I also had a calculator in my bag, Viv.
I've got a nice little pocket calculator
that fits nicely in my bag.
But it's pretty useless when
you don't actually use it.
- Oh, yeah.
- Oh, my God.
It's why we brought the calculator.
That is stupid.
That is so stupid.
Keep your eyes open to see if there
are any fountains around here.
Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah. Good.
- I thought the cops were goingto
stop us just then. - Same.
I was like, oh, that's good,
we're going to get arrested.
We're counting spouts
that don't work as well.
OK. So how are we going to break it up?
One, two, three
It's literally where we started.
The worst thing is that every sight
seems to look so familiar.
Wow. We literally just went back
to the same place.
Every team is still digging around.
Took a while, but we got there.
I see another crew.
14, and 136.
I see I see a fountain.
That's good.
We're heading
to the demilitarised zone.
Oh, there's the train tracks. Yeah.
Thank you. Oh
Can you see anything?
Going to the DMZ we sort of
knew about that political turmoil.
So, you can see the fence
on the other side.
See that little hut?
It's so ominous to be able to see
something so raw firsthand.
It was just amazing.
Warning, no photos.
No photos, cameras away.
Even though it's a race
we had built up a buffer.
And if we could use
a little bit of that
to actually pay respects
to the place we were at
it was really important.
17 by 12.
Finally reached the fountains.
And we're a little bit stressed.
Do you want to count this again with me?
Just in case. You do it.
Are there 364?
Thank you very much.
Oi. Listen to me. Did
we get that number before?
I was like, it's counting,
we can do this.
I did that already, Amani.
There was teams coming and going.
That kind of made us a bit more frantic.
I want to see if you
calculated it right.
It was pretty frustrating.
Why can't we get this right?
So simple.
So, 228 plus 129.
Yes.
Three, six, four.
Three, six, four?
What the hell?
I tried to stay composed at least,
but Mum was trying to rush it a bit.
You haven't answered.
Is it three, six, four?
Yes! Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
So, hold on. Can you tell me what it
is so I can do
I can't even, like
Counting the fountains, I thought
it was going to be super easy.
Maths is his strong point usually.
That's my thing.
me dead.
Can you calm down.
We're stressed. Right?
Come. I think I got it.
What is it?
We saw Rowah and
Amani running off to a cab,
and then that put a little pressure
on us thinking like we can't be last.
We potentially could be eliminated.
Come here. Look at me.
So, 128, 129.
129 plus 228.
Maths wizards.
Nope.
I got there
and crumbled under pressure.
Alright.
Are you sure you're
doing the maths right?
- So, 17 times 8.
- Eh?
- That's what I got, eight.
- Yeah. 1-3
So 228 for both of these.
No.
Both of us started getting
annoyed at each other.
Like, we can't be last.
We potentially could be eliminated.
Plus 100 is 328.
Math wizards.
Yes!
On our way!
What did the clue say?
We needed to go to the writing table.
The challenge was to write
a message on a ribbon
and hang it on the fence
of the demilitarised zone.
"Sending our love and peace
to the people of Korea,
"hoping that one day there can be
"a healthy and prosperous relationship."
Alright, where are we
supposed to go now?
Hello.
Hello.
Thank you very much.
Thank you very much.
Thank you. Thank you.
Oh, Detour.
All Heart or All Thumbs.
A detour is a
choice of two challenges,
each with their own pros and cons.
In this detour,
teams will decide
between All Heart or All Thumbs.
Here in South Korea, it's compulsory
for every 19-year-old male
to serve two years' national service.
The team to choose this Detour
will serve their time boot camp style.
First, carrying two tyres
up a steep hill,
then traversing over
a perilous high rope course,
the final test
is to crawl through this mud pit
wearing a weighted backpack.
But little do they know, they've been
carrying their final clue all along.
In All Thumbs,
teams will try and master
the futuristic sport of drone soccer.
Each team member's
got to pilot their drone
through the small red goal
before the drone master
will give them their next clue.
Has to be All Heart.
Yeah, let's do All Heart.
All Heart. We're gonna do All Heart.
We're gonna do All Heart.
So Tom and I are both not the most
technologically savvy people.
So we thought we'd go for
the military boot camp.
Didn't think I'd be going to the DMZ.
That was sick.
We were actually the first ones there
but there were already other teams
there, so we blew our lead.
Get the bags anyway.
You wait for us? Thank you.
To find the ribbon fence.
Go quicker? Excuse me, let's go.
Fast, fast.
Hang on, there's a guide map.
Let's have a look at this.
You go, you go, you go.
Write it down.
Where are we now?
Does it say where we are now, Tim?
Oh, Mickey! Mik,
do you have the ribbon?
They were all looking at the sign.
And then I just looked
up, up in the distance,
and I saw the ribbons and
the table, so we ran.
Let's just follow them.
Yeah, OK.
Start running.
It was actually quite powerful
seeing that wall,
but, unfortunately, we just didn't
have the time to just soak it in.
So we just said, "We are united
with you and your amazing country."
#LoveIsLove.
Yes!
Our message was short and sweet,
but "Make peace, not war."
Alright.
Cool.
Oh, thank you so much!
Thank you.
- Thank you!
- It's beautiful here.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Detour.
I'm not good with electronics.
Let's do All Heart.
Combat course.
Military boot camp.
- We're gonna choose
- All Heart.
Yeah.
Yeah. Let's go!
We do boot camps all the time
as part of our training.
We've even both run boot camps
before as personal trainers.
- We're gonna do we're gonna do
- All Heart.
We know a team's right behind us,
so hopefully we absolutely slay this.
Military boot camp, just get it done.
Should we do the drone? I don't
think I can do the rope course.
Alright.
Like, it's a military one.
OK. Alright, alright.
Sorry.
We're gonna change.
We're gonna change Detours.
Yeah.
Yeah. OK.
What's going on back there?
Maybe they're changing their Detour.
We know that
they're calling us the oldies,
so we've already been labelled that.
- But, yeah
- Baby boomers, we're doing it for you.
We got some cards up our sleeve.
I think they're gonna underestimate us.
We're on our way to
the demilitarisation zone.
The NT News in Darwin posted a front
page about Darwin's now in range,
you know, to be bombed by
North Korea, if so they choose.
So a pretty significant area.
Maybe we need to
be a bit more aggressive.
Let the little mongrel out in us.
See, this is the Mr Nice Guy hat.
It's gone.
Come this way, Chris. Come this way.
"The harmony of your nation is for us
also to embrace and admire."
Then I put a little alpaca.
Beautiful.
I've never flown a drone,
you've never flown a drone.
No, so should we go All Heart?
We're going to go All Heart.
OK, we're going All Heart.
Just what we want.
We're going All Heart.
Let's get nice and hot.
Come on!
And we're gonna go to boot camp.
There's the
ribbons on the right.
Yeah. Over there.
Adrienne and I jump in the cab.
We give him the address all written
in crayon. In crayon only.
And he doesn't know where it is.
Both Adrienne and I
are starting to get agitated.
See and it's in English
Come on!
Please hurry!
OK, OK, OK.
"Sending love, peace and healing."
We've put our flag.
All the way from Australia,
from our mob.
Here we go.
We're gonna go All Heart.
Alright, let's go.
Come on!
We were waiting for the driver
to work out where we were going.
And he was taking so long
that Jerome and Jasmin
finish the challenge.
There's our cab.
OK.
Oh, look.
They've finished the challenge!
Jasmin and Jerome jump in their cab
and off he goes.
Our guy then follows.
Our cab driver has decided
to slot in behind the other team,
even though we were in front of them.
And because he doesn't
understand the directions,
he's now following the cab in front.
But that cab in front,
we don't really know what challenge
they're going to do.
It's here!
This is so cool.
OK, keep going.
There!
That's where they put 'em, yeah.
We've got time, we've got time.
"Lord, we pray for peace and unity
for the people of Korea."
Gamsahabnida.
Thank you.
God bless.
God bless you.
Drone or military?
That's gonna be stinking hard,
isn't it, the boot camp?
"Do 20 push-ups! Do.. Climb this!"
Let's do the drone.
Drone. Let's go. All Thumbs.
We're going to do the drone.
But first, can we pray there?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Right.
"Just try your best"
"Stay strong."
"We wish you good health
and happiness."
"We love and support you.
"Peace and love from Australia."
"From Femi."
- Thank you.
- Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
OK, Detour.
I'm thinking All Heart, to be honest.
Yeah, I reckon All Heart.
It's up to you.
Don't don't hesitate.
Let's go.
Pressure's on. Um, let's go military.
We'll both be good at that.
OK, let's go.
OK, military. Let's go.
Alright.
You can't run away from this,
can you? This is so significant.
This is the zone
that marks the difference
between North and South.
Lord, heal this wound in this country.
Bless this place.
Amen.
Amen.
It is a bit emotional.
Yeah, I see 11.
Sid, the table! Here!
This is our message to Korea.
"Love is the answer."
It always is.
Good one, Ash.
Thank you.
Thank you very much.
Detour, All Heart or All Thumbs.
Boot camp.
Yeah, we can do it. boot camp.
Yeah.
All Heart.
Yep, let's do it.
Alright, let's do it.
Hello! Back again!
Miss you.
It is a bit emotional.
Thank you, Lord, for bringing us here.
Every minute counts.
Our values had to take precedent.
Want some time to pray.
Pray on the way.
Mm.
Pray all day.
Even if it means they got
Got in front of us.
..10 seconds in front of us,
like, you could not
run away from that bridge.
We're trying to get psyched up now
and hopefully just smash out
this challenge.
Yeah, hopefully get in and out
quickly with no mishaps.
Maybe we've to go in?
Oh, OK. We'll just get out here.
We'll just get out here.
Yeah, we'll get out here.
Thank you.
Thank you.
You've got a lot of faith
in your taxi drivers.
Ran off thinking that
we'd be running to the boot camp.
Let's go.
Can you see anything?
No idea where we're going.
Look at those stairs, though.
Doesn't look like a boot camp to me.
It was demoralising because
we worked hard to get a lead
and we blew it straightaway.
Alright, well,
we're back where we started.
Where's our driver?
Oh!
No idea where we're going.
No idea.
Doesn't look like a boot camp to me.
Alright, well, we're back
where we started.
Where's our driver?
This could be three kay.
Hey. I just got him, I think.
Doesn't look like
anyone else is around.
Fingers crossed we're the first.
For the Detour, we
decided to do the boot camp.
But once we jumped into the cab,
we switched the drones thinking
that it'll be quick.
Yeah, red flag.
Thank God.
Oh, God, the calves.
OK, ready?
Let's go.
Oh, wow.
Joey, it's not that bad. Look at it.
You always say it's not that bad.
Hello.
Hi.
How does this work?
I think one's to go up and down,
the other ones go sideways.
I think just give it a go, Viv.
Alright
Let's go.
That is weird.
So
Oh, God.
OK, so it's bouncy.
I don't know what I'm doing.
We've both got to fly the drone
through the small red goal.
It has to go up.
Hang on.
No, it has to go forward. OK.
Left is to go up and down.
And then this is
to go left and right, pretty sure.
It's like reversed.
How does it go forward?
Oh, God.
Is that through?
Oops. I've just completely
lost control of that.
Alright, let's do it.
Go up to this bloke.
"Get two tyres up the hill"
Jeez, he's an angry fella.
Let's go!
Having someone yell at us
in a different language
is kind of nice because
I just took it as encouragement.
This is us. This is us.
We've got an absolute awesome
cab driver.
Yeah, so good.
The best. The best in the business.
Yeah, OK, there's one other cab here.
Definitely gonna get our ramble on.
We're always outdoors, hiking,
fishing, wake-boarding,
jet-skiing, spear-fishing, so
We love boot camps.
The sisters are here to give it
a crack.
The other teams better
watch their back.
Whoo, whoo!
I'm scared. Hayley, run.
It's the boys, Micky.
It's Tommy and Tyler.
The first team to arrive
after us were the sisters.
It is daunting when you're up there
because you know if you stuff up,
you could be going back to the back
of the line
and have to do the whole course again.
I think they're a bit nervous
when they saw us.
They thought they may have had
a bigger lead.
We'll be on your heels soon.
Don't fall!
Whoa, we're really high.
Oh, my God.
You're joking.
Far out, that was so close.
We never doubted picking the drones.
I think we'll finish this
a lot faster than doing a boot camp.
Go, get it in, get it in.
Yes! Yes, yes, yes.
OK. Hang on. Get yours.
So, it's down to go forward?
Yeah, down to go forward.
Left to go right.
It's not going, like,
left and right properly.
Oh, so confusing.
Viv was all over the shop.
It was nerve-racking.
Test everything, test everything.
Go up, down, left, right.
And then and then take off.
When we got there, Tom and Tyler
were already about halfway
through the course.
Take your time on this.
Yeah.
We had to wait for the girls, so
That was hard, that was hard.
We had to put on a harness and scale
these ropes up in the treetops.
You got this.
Oh, whoa. Is that the instructor
dude? He sounds pissed off.
I'm going to have nightmares tonight
about him.
OK.
And Viv just kept grunting
and kept going
and just did not give up.
Yes!
Yes!
Well done.
I'm super proud of her.
Good work. Thank you so much.
Thank you.
Alright.
"Raft down the Hantan River
"and search for Beau
at your next Pit Stop.
"Hurry, the last team to check in
here may be eliminated."
Let's go, let's go, let's go.
Thank you.
Teams will now make their
way to the Hantan River.
They must paddle down
and search for the Pit Stop.
Built over a thousand years ago
and favoured by ancient kings,
the Goseokjeong Pavilion
sits on the banks
of the beautiful Hantan River
and is the Pit Stop for
the second leg of the Amazing Race.
Once they locate the pavilion,
they'll race on foot up the stairs
to the Pit Stop.
Warning, the last team to
check in may be eliminated.
I'm really hoping we're actually
in the lead
because the rafting
I might struggle with,
but we just don't know where
the boys are.
Nah. We don't know where
the other teams are.
Let's go, big fella. Come on.
Yeah.
We've gotta pick up a bag and crawl
through the mud pit.
Come on, let's go. Let's go, Tom.
Come on.
Oh, we gotta
Ah, stoked with this!
No way. There goes
our nice clean new Nikes.
Open your bag for the next clue.
Do you have the clue?
Yeah, in here.
"Raft down the Hantan River
and search for Beau
"at your next Pit Stop."
We're the first leaving this challenge.
But Joey and Viv weren't here,
so we don't know
if we're in first or not.
You've got this girl. Keep going.
Are you feeling OK?
You're right, you're right.
Oh, what's this coming up next?
You've gotta be kidding me.
When I looked over the platform,
I was just like, "Oh, my God.
"Like, this is crazy."
It looked so much higher
than standing back a little bit
from the little platform.
Your butt looks good from this angle.
Whoa, it's like we're at the day spa.
Let's get one with the mud.
My hat!
Wait, wait, we need to fit the look.
OK, ready?
Yeah!
"Raft down the Hantan River
and search for Beau.
"Hurry, the last time to check in
may be eliminated."
Let's go.
So, our fate has been determined
by where this cab
in front of us is going.
I'm not angry. I'm just fired up.
Jasmine, this is
the obstacle course, isn't it?
Yeah, yeah.
By some miracle,
we end up at the boot camp.
Go, mate. Go, mate.
You're killing it.
Oh, nuts.
Oh, what?!
Oh, my God. What?!
Like, I had mad all over my face
and it was, like, dripping down
into my mouth
and I was just like,
"Nah, like, I'm gonna spew."
Like, I was just choke
basically choking on mud.
I was just pissing myself laughing.
It was gross.
Have you ever driven a drone before?
Never.
Neither have I.
Come on, let's practice.
Oh, look at this, look at this.
Holy catfish.
Oh, my goodness.
We have to put it in that red
round circle, don't we?
We've got to figure out
how to do this by watching him.
Honourable teacher, will you teach us
to drone?
The drone thing,
yeah, we're pretty ninja at drones.
Actually, I've never
touched one in my life.
You watch his right hand.
I'll watch his left hand.
OK.
He's using that right hand a lot.
Go down
Left, up.
Will we just have a go?
We thought, "Two little goals.
That's like, boom, boom.
"Yeah. We'll be out of there
in five minutes."
That's good. That's good.
Jude, this is really hard.
Oh, no.
We're really lagging behind.
Oh, mama mia!
We knew that it was gonna
be a race to the pitstop.
On the way
we didn't see any other teams.
I'm hoping we can smash our goal
of coming first in a leg.
Yep, yep.
That would be awesome.
Let's go. It says "leave everything".
Just leave everything, alright?
Go.
Yep, let's go.
There's another taxi.
Is it?
Yep.
- There's a team there.
- What?
Oh, Joey and Viv.
Let's go, let's go.
Tom and Tyler.
She was down by the river.
Just keep going. You're good.
There it is. There it is.
So we basically arrived
at the exact same time
with Viv and Joey, a team that
we had a good relationship with
but we definitely weren't gonna
go easy on them.
They're just ahead.
Are we going the right way, yeah?
Yep.
Yeah, Joey! Whoo!
Haha!
How cool is this?
This is sick.
I think we're here, Viv. Hello.
Hello.
Hello. Look at that.
This is amazing.
This is unreal.
We were right next to them
and I think that gave us
a bit of extra motivation.
It was pretty intense.
Yep, got it.
We were in the water. Before them.
That really gave us a buffer.
We knew Tom and Tyler were ahead
and that there were a couple of teams
right behind us on our tail.
Go, mate. Go, mate.
Left. The boys went left.
We going to the left?
We were pretty confident
when it got down to white water
rafting against them.
Their arms are a little bit shorter
than ours.
None of this was made for little
people, Viv. That's fine.
Maybe that gave us a bit
of an advantage.
Here comes some rapids.
Here we go.
Yewww!
- You OK?
- Yep.
I'm glad I wore sports shorts.
Come on.
Just seeing Tom and Tyler there
right in front of us,
knowing that we caught up,
it was just wanting to get
in front of them so badly.
Alright,
we have a team coming down the river.
Is he on the other side of this?
It looks like Tommy and Tyler.
Almost there, it's right there.
Here we go.
Aghh!
We were so close to the pitstop.
And they had gotten off their raft.
Well done, Viv. So proud of you.
Keep going.
The boys are running.
Keep going.
Let's go.
Come on, let's go.
Viv and Joey hot on
Tommy and Tyler's trail.
Up, up, up. Up, up, up.
Yes, let's go.
Good boy.
Welcome to Cheorwon.
Tommy, Tyler.
You are
..the first team to check in!
Yes!
Well done, boys.
Good boy!
Wow.
Finishing first for a second time
is unbelievable.
Alright, well done.
This has definitely helped us
going forward.
Boys, as the first team to check in,
you've won $1000 each
on your BankWest Halo Ring
to spend when you return home.
Well done.
Nice.
Big thanks to BankWest.
Good job, boys.
Oh, here we go.
Welcome to Cheorwon.
Thank you so much.
Viv, Joey, you are
..the second team to check in.
Well done.
Huge effort.
We came second today.
Which is still super, super exciting.
Great job, hey?
Terrific.
We knew that we'd never beat them
in a foot race because, you know,
five of our steps probably equals
one of their strides.
We may have short arms and little
legs but we've got big hearts.
Oh, man
It was so terrifying.
Keep working.
- You OK?
- Yeah.
Come on, Chris.
You're doing really well.
OK, ready, Amani?
Hooked on, so we better hook off.
Thank you, thank you. Go, go.
Come on, Nick.
The Boot Camp started off with,
you had to pick up two tyres.
Let's go.
We decided two tyres each, and I said
to them, it's like, two tyres, guys.
It's two each.
I'm gonna get two.
Let's go, let's go.
They ran back down.
Where you are, Nick.
Here, behind you.
Come on.
Let's go.
We don't know
if it was what right or wrong.
It makes more sense just to
quickly grab the tyre and have two
than go all the way up
to the top of the hill
than have to run back down,
grab another tyre and go back up.
It wasn't on purpose.
Have you got it?
I figured something.
What?
It's round, like,
and it keeps changing directions.
So, I'm watching it.
It's going right,
so I've got to go the opposite way.
Um
Talking to that drone thing,
when we first met it we thought,
what a cute little toy.
It didn't last long.
It was not cute.
It was not cute.
OK now, lift up, slowly.
The other way.
Gone up my skirt.
Rightio. I think I'm getting it.
I'm getting it. I'm getting it.
Come on, you can do it.
Yes!
I think it was God that that thing
went through the hoop
and it wasn't much to do with my skill.
Oh, yeah, you are hovering.
Shh!
Sorry. Sorry.
Oh, that's looking good.
Yeah.
Can I go in the back way?
There we go! Ohh! Whoo!
It's been nice to be able to spend
time with each other on this race,
and it's just strengthened
our relationship as sisters.
We do have a very close bond.
Welcome to Cheorwon.
Thank you.
Hayley and Mikayla, you are
..the third team to check in again!
Well done, girls.
Whoo!
Go, mate, go, mate!
This is sick.
I love you.
I love you so much, mate.
Welcome to Cheorwon.
Thank you!
Thank you so much.
Tim and Rod, you are
..the fourth team to check in!
You are still alive!
Do you want a hug?
Nah!
You hug, we hug.
Almost there, almost there.
Go faster.
"Raft down the Hantan River and
search for Bo at your next pitstop."
"Hurry. The last team to check in
may be eliminated."
"Put on your labelled sandbag,
climb the ladder."
Having fun, Sid?
Yeah.
Come on, Amani!
Hold on! Hold on!
I was trying to balance.
Sid and Ash were right there behind us,
which kind of brang
a bit more pressure.
No, no, no! Lean back!
Hold on, lean back.
Putting pressure on the teams
in front of us was always the plan.
Played out perfectly.
No! Come on, Amani.
Hold on! Hold on!
I was doing these ones.
I was scared because
if I had fallen off
they would have been ahead of me.
There was a point there where I
thought Sid was gonna throw her off
any minute.
Whoo!
I was scared,
because if I had fallen off,
they would have been ahead of me.
There was a point where I thought
Sid was going to throw up any minute.
Ah!
It was a bit more challenging
and I just wanted to get it
over and done with.
Come on. Go, baby, go!
So I go down here?
Yeah, yeah, come down.
I'm tangled.
Mum!
Darling, you can come down. Come on.
I'm tangled!
She was fine. She recovered.
Put the bag on her back and we ran.
Come on, Amani. Under, under.
Come on. Let's go.
Lift it. Lift it. Lift it. Lift it.
Going through the mud challenged
Amani a little bit more.
No, leave it. I'm alright.
You're good. You're good.
I'm good.
I was so proud of her there.
Yeah, she was epic.
Oh, my God!
Sid and I love the finer things
in life.
This is so gross!
Trekking through the mud, I looked
at it and thought, "You know what?
"This is just a full-body mud mask
and I'm going to get through this."
Come on.
Yeah, I know.
They're too heavy.
Not as easy as it seems, nah.
Whoa.
We're nurses, it's not common for us
to be like Tarzan out of nowhere
and start like climbing on things.
After halfway it just got so high.
I honestly have no idea
how high we are.
Don't get frustrated.
We're making silly mistakes
right now, man, like very silly.
So critical to not make those mistakes.
Delay your time any longer.
Stay on the one side.
Stay on the one side.
We knew we were last.
Whoo!
It's attacking me!
Killer drone with a mind of its own.
Our brothers and nephews
are gonna be ashamed.
But I think we're on the verge of
Oh, no!
Let's just stop and pray.
We were giving some time to God
and saying, "We need your help."
You're doing good. Look at that.
You are doing this.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah!
Praise the Lord!
When we got the final one through
that hoop, I think it was a fluke.
Fluke, fluke and fluke.
Yeah.
Whoo! Oh!
Thank you so much.
"Run down the Hantan
River and search for Beau."
We've got to raft a river.
Let's go. Let's go.
And we're going to be eliminated
if we don't get there fast.
I'm so glad that's over.
Come on, Fems.
My bag got caught.
You've got this, Fems.
Dig deep. Come on.
"Open your bag
to find your next clue."
There was four teams
that all left ahead of us.
"However the last team to check in
may be eliminated."
We were done for at that point,
because there was no chance of us
catching in the cab.
Go, go, go, go.
This is stunning.
So beautiful, babe.
Oh, I can't wait to get in the water.
Oh-ho-ho, nice and cold.
I don't want to lose
any more of our advantage.
Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!
Whoo-hoo!
Wide right.
Head for the bank. Go to your left.
Chris Chris keep paddling.
Whoo!
Welcome to Goseokjeong.
Jasmine, Jerome, you are
..the fifth team to check in.
Oh!
Have a cuddle, lovebirds.
Oh, we've got another team.
(LAUGHS
Come on, Chris!
We're all wet!
Chris and Adrian, you are
the sixth team to check in!
Whoo-hoo!
Well done.
That's as close as we're going to get.
Top effort.
We're hopefully not going home.
I think we were an hour and a half
droning.
So, once again, we're probably
at the end, but
You never know what's happening
to everybody else.
It's true. You do never know.
Jude, we're not last!
What do you mean?
There's a team there.
The nuns are behind
us. Quick, quick, quick.
We thought the nuns
were coming in last place.
Kay, quick!
Ooh, how far away from last!
Let's go, team.
Follow the markers, follow the markers.
Let's run, run, run.
Ah!
I'm gonna fall over.
Please tell me we don't have to
walk back.
We were going through stages where I
think that we had almost given up,
but something just clicked to us.
You know, we didn't come all the way
to Korea just to give up.
Let's go. Come on, Nick.
Put your life jacket
on, let's go. Come on.
We had gotten down the stairs to get
to the rafts before Sid and Ash.
They were right behind us.
Helmet, helmet, helmet.
I can't even do this, man.
My hands are shaking.
Alright, pull it in. Drag it in.
Sid and Ash just jumped right in.
They got into the water first
and they were literally in front of us.
Go left, go right.
And then they were more in front of us.
And then, they were in front of us.
- Come on, Mani. Come on.
- Hurry.
We're going to have to
work as a team, yeah?
Oh, yes, there's people here
and they're covered in mud.
Oh, good.
Just as we got down to the water,
Rowah and Amani were there as well.
Whoa, this is exciting.
That gave us the, come on,
we've got to do this.
We've got to fight hard.
Holy mackerel, I'm zapped.
- Are teams out there?
- Yeah.
Let's go. Come on, Nick.
Careful, don't slip.
As we were running, we saw Rowah and
Amani, Sid and Ash, in the water.
We knew it was make or break.
The Tanks are here.
Whoo!
We've still got a chance here.
Let's just really go for it.
Go for it!
And we did.
Right. Cool.
Two. Left. Two. Left.
We felt like we could catch them,
because it was just us and the nuns.
I don't think we had
to really say anything.
We just knew we could not leave now.
We're so much better than this.
Those Tanks have the biggest guns,
they're going to overtake us.
Yeah, so we're going to try hard.
Come on. Go right. Go right.
I don't think we had to really
say anything.
We just knew we could not leave now.
We're so much better than this.
Alright, we got this.
Let's go, let's go. Right.
Oh, wow! We are in Korea.
This is magic.
Dude, can you hear that noise?
I can hear our boat going down.
Oh, no.
It's not air leaking.
I was thinking Oh.
Hello, friend.
We know how to drive you.
OK, here we have Sid and Ash.
They're actually looking quite good.
I think they wish they did
have their phones.
They could use a better filter
to get some more light
on their face, obviously.
But Sid and Ash are just about to
come around this rock headland
over my shoulder,
just coming down the rapids,
is Rowah and Amani
Whoo!
..mother and daughter.
And they are working together.
They are working well.
Go! Go! Go!
Sid and Ash has just reached the beach.
They're looking for the Pit Stop now.
Watch out, 'cause it's slippery.
Yeah.
Rowah and Amani hot on their heels.
Oh, my God!
Welcome to Goseokjeong.
Sid.Ash
..you are the seventh team
to check in.
Yay!
Whoo!
Oh, hey!
How are you?
Rowah, Amani, you are
..the eighth team to check in.
You are still in the race!
Well done, guys.
Thanks, guys.
Alright, left then right.
Bro
Yeah?
..listen, please.
Are they behind us?
Oh, yeah.
Ah!
Oh, yeah!
We're whitewater rafting in Korea!
Can you see them?
They're a long way behind.
No, they're not.
We're going right. Go right.
On the river, the gap wasn't closing,
really.
Like, we were struggling.
Come on.
We spun out, did a few spin outs
throughout the river.
They were gone.
They were doing really well.
Can you see them?
They're behind and they're getting
further behind.
We're gonna have to run up.
Run up a hill?
Yes.
Jude, we gotta go. Come on. Quick!
There they are! Go!
Come on!
It looks like we have the nuns
slightly ahead of the nurses,
Femi and Nick.
The foot race is on.
Dude, they're gonna catch us.
No, they're not.
Oh, you're kidding me!
Oh, how close.
Welcome to Goseokjeong.
Femi, Nick, you are the ninth team
to arrive.
Judy, Therese,
you have been eliminated.
Oh, man! We were so close.
How does it feel, boys?
Good.
You're still in the race?
Big wake up call today.
Yeah, honestly.
We had a strategy.
Just wasn't the way to go, I think.
But it's good because, you know,
you need this type of pressure
to be like, "OK, time to actually
switch on boys"
and like, "Let's not get in
this position again."
Thanks for knocking out our nuns.
You'll be the most hated people in
Australia right now, but that's OK.
Sorry, I'm still Christian, though.
I love you, God.
You did well. You did good.
I think because we really
gave it all
Yeah.
..you kind of think, "No!"
Yeah, it would have been awesome
to stay.
Anyone would love to do this.
We've had so many amazing experiences.
Yeeees!
It really was a gift from God.
Yeeees!
One big adventure,
just like those rapids.
Go, Sister.
Yeah. Whoo!
Next time on The Amazing Race
Australia,
our teams travel
Yeah! Come on!
..to Vietnam.
Vietnam. Awesome!
Oh, my God!
Where one challenge
Oh, what the hell?!
..pushes the teams to breaking point.
Before the most epic race
Where is it?
Let's go, let's go, let's go.
You got it, Mum.
We're nearly there.
..to the pit stop.
Go, go, go.
I love this race so much.
