Pull to the shoulder.
Hi, Mom.
[Sheriff Baker.]
Let's go.
Walk.
Gavin.
Hey, Gavin.
Hey, that's my Dude.
That's my brother.
Just keep your head down.
Listen to what they have to say.
But don't be afraid to stand up for yourself, okay? Flex on them a little bit.
Just know that I'm with you, man.
[Sheriff Baker.]
All right, that's enough.
[groans.]
You know I'm not doing so great myself.
You'll survive.
But you and I need to have a few words.
Let's go.
You don't trust me? Come on.
You've been well looked after for a long time.
And the day might come where you get tempted to say certain things that don't need saying.
Don't.
I know where Seb's stashes are.
There's a teacher who wants to put Gavin in a school.
Boarding school.
Wants to help him out.
It costs some money.
But you know, sometimes people get lucky.
Like, if someone were to happen upon a certain storage unit a few counties over.
For instance.
And then, everybody's happy.
And happy people don't talk.
I hated you for your sickness before you died.
I'd like to forget I'd forget that I hated you, but I totally did.
I hated you.
I could never invite anybody over.
I was so worried that they'd finally see how much of a wreck you actually were.
I remember that one time when you forgot to pick me up from Charlie's.
Her mom was gonna call, but I didn't want her to because I knew she would just hear you slurring on the phone.
So I walked home in the rain.
When I got home, I was so furious with you.
I told you you were a bad mom, and you were a loser, and you just laughed at me.
And you said, "Family's like a chronic illness.
It sucks, and you can't get rid of it.
" So Then your needle was still on the table.
I was just a kid.
I was I was 11.
And I was so mad at myself after it had happened.
It was so gross.
I just took all those feelings and I-I shoved them away.
I put them towards everything, everyone else.
[Evie.]
I don't know what it's like to not feel that-that constant pounding anger.
Thurston.
Come back.
[Evie.]
It's like an awful headache that won't go away.
And here we are, worse than they are.
[police siren blaring.]
It's all my fault.
[branches snapping.]
But it ends now.
You can't have me.
I am not a monster.
[roars.]
[yells.]
Let me die! What have you done? - Stop resisting.
Easy.
- I don't want her to take me.
- Please, let go.
- Just calm down.
- She'll never stop.
- Just relax.
- Give me your hand.
- [Birch snarling.]
- [girl whispering.]
I will be patient.
- [officer.]
Atta girl.
- Just take some breaths.
- [girl whispering.]
I will be strong.
[officer gasps.]
[gasps.]
No, please.
Please.
No, no, no! Stop! No! Help! No! No! No! Stop! [girl whispering.]
I will be kind.
I will be calm.
I will be patient.
I will be strong.
They will come and they will kill us.
They'll kill us both.
They have to die.
Laura is just a little girl.
I am her mother and I will make you suffer.
