They stole her as a child and used her as a slave.
Same thing happened to our own daughter.
- You have kids? - LINDAUER: Yes.
She's all grown up now.
The beginning of Apex is the end of the human race.
I can't let you become like me.
MASON: Sophie? Whoa, hey, hey! Can you hear me? GRETA: It's time to obliterate any possibility of Apex ever coming into existence.
What good is a new plan if you got a camp full of people who can expose us? When the survivors take their own lives in what appears to be a ritual suicide, this will explain why.
To our son.
[GROANS.]
JUDE: They're gonna kill everyone in that camp.
DIANA: If you really believe they're gonna kill 'em, we have to get them out of there.
- MARSHALL: I want to see Hannah.
- You're not going right through! Let's go.
ROY: If they want to leave this camp alive, they need to be ready to move.
Well, then let's get to work.
[UTENSILS CLINKING.]
Good morning.
Morning.
How'd you sleep? Terrible.
Aw.
[GROANS.]
- Hey, Dad.
- Morning, buddy.
Hey, Mom, can I sleep over at Noah's tonight? Wait.
I don't get consulted? Why? You don't make any real decisions.
[SCOFFS.]
Oh, really? Well, you and I are going fishing in the morning.
Fishing? Wait, you love fishing.
What? The fish are gone, Jude.
Th [DOOR BELL CHIMES.]
[ECHOING.]
Wait.
[ECHOING.]
It's okay, Dad.
No, no, no.
That's impossible.
You have no idea what will become possible.
- [DOOR BELL CHIMES.]
- [BIRD CHIRPING IN DISTANCE.]
- [BREATHING HEAVILY.]
- [DOOR BELL CHIMES.]
Hey.
You're not dressed.
I slept through my alarm.
We're already late.
It's, like, an hour drive.
Give me 15 minutes, all right? All right.
I'll wait in the car.
[INDISTINCT CHATTER.]
Mr.
Ellis? We're ready for you.
[SOUND EFFECTS CONTINUE.]
INSPECTOR GENERAL: Thank you for joining us today, Sheriff Ellis.
Now, this task force was created to investigate the events at the makeshift DHS detention facility, at Camp Tama Tamanowas No one gets it the first time.
At this point, all the remains are the burnt ruins of the camp, uh, some contradictory guard depositions, and a video of a man calling himself "Paul," purporting to be a member of some sort of doomsday cult.
Are you aware of this recording? I've heard of it, yes.
Well, our hope is that you'll be able to shed some light on what happened at the camp, specifically what happened the night the detainees disappeared.
So let's start with the question that's at the crux of these proceedings Where are the detainees from Camp Tamanowas? I don't know.
- - I, uh, know the developments of the last few days have been trying.
And I want to personally apologize for any discomfort you've experienced while here.
I, uh, do have good news, though.
It has been decided that tonight will be the last night you spend here at the camp.
- [INDISTINCT MURMURING.]
- The time has come for you to start your new lives.
[CAR ENGINE REVS.]
Before you go, you'll be issued documents and identification.
You'll also be administered vaccinations.
As you go forward into the world, we need to make sure you're protected from illnesses to which, as visitors, you might not have been exposed.
- Slow down! - Careful! Slow! [INDISTINCT SHOUTING.]
We'll have further instructions as we get closer to departure, but until then, enjoy the rest of your time here at the camp, and rest assured, the future holds wonderful things.
Thank you all.
[INDISTINCT CONVERSATIONS.]
Mr.
Lindauer.
How's the leg? Better now.
[CHUCKLES.]
Serves me right for hiking at night.
And, um our arrangement? You honored your end.
I'll see that you're taken care of.
All right.
I was I was thinking Los Angeles w-where they make all the, um - entertainment.
- ROY: Sir.
Uh, I will make some calls.
We've got a situation.
[INDISTINCT RADIO CHATTER.]
[CROW CAWS IN DISTANCE.]
Deputy.
Seems you and your boss share a disdain for my front gate.
[EXHALES.]
You can get up.
There's a kid from town, Marshall.
He came up here last night, and, um, he never came back.
Why would he come up here? Because he's an idiot.
He thinks he's in love with this girl that he met in town a couple days ago.
Look, the kid doesn't use good judgment.
H-He's got boundary issues, but he's harmless.
And it's not really why he came up here.
You don't have the right to hold him here.
He assaulted a guard.
I have every right to detain him.
Well, then you're gonna have to detain me, too, because I'm not leaving here without him.
[RUSTLING.]
Why don't you go get our young romantic? - [RADIO CHIRPS.]
- Hey, it's, uh, Roy at the gate.
I'm gonna need you to bring up the detainee.
- Looks like you get to go home.
- Too bad.
I was looking forward to the continental breakfast.
Hey! Little something to remember me by.
[GROANS.]
What'd you do to him? As I said he attacked a guard.
We had to take precautions.
Get in the truck.
They hurt you? They tried.
Mm-hmm.
So? What's it say? Where we at? Roy got word to Caleb.
We're good.
[RINGING.]
- JUDE: Yeah? - Marshall's out.
Reece is in.
Roger that.
Well, if the rest of this goes perfect, we might just pull this off.
Copy that.
[INDISTINCT CHATTER.]
Okay, listen up.
There's a plan for us to get out, but we can't wait till tomorrow.
We're going tonight.
Now, we got people on the outside who are gonna help us, people we can trust.
They're letting us out.
We try to run, maybe they change their minds.
HANNAH: They're not letting us out.
Two agents are dead.
They think we did it.
THOMAS: They're right.
It's all a lie.
It always has been.
I don't know what they plan on doing with us, but one thing I do know they have no intention of letting us go.
- [SIGHS DEEPLY.]
- [TWIG SNAPS.]
Did you spread the word? Yeah.
Where's the help? I don't know.
Maybe she didn't make it in.
She? [EXHALES SHARPLY.]
Guess that makes you Reece.
You're Roy? This is Caleb.
Reece.
Leah's mother.
Yes.
Is she okay? Ah, she's fine.
I just Just never thought I'd be in this situation.
I came here to get away from people like you.
So did I.
You were A/Z.
Are we gonna have a problem? You tell me.
I just want my daughter.
Sorry to break this up, but - can we get to the plan? - The plan's simple You kill the fence.
He moves the Commons.
- I'll take care of the guards.
- Commons? Yeah, the others.
I'll help you with the guards.
I don't need any help.
Stop! Right there! [RADIO CHIRPS.]
Not too sure what I'm looking at right now, but I need some assistance.
I said I didn't need any help.
Next time, I'll let him shoot you.
What are you looking for? Due east.
Sun comes up over those trees.
[GRUNTS.]
JUDE: Paging Craig Lindauer.
Come in, Lindauer.
This is Lindauer.
Who is this? Hello? Have you checked the children, Noah? You three, with me.
[DOOR CLOSES.]
STEVEN: Sir.
Open it.
[MUFFLED GRUNTING.]
- Sweep the rest of the cabins.
- CARTER: Yes, sir.
All perimeter guards, be on alert.
We have a breakout attempt in progress.
It's clear.
East cabins are all empty.
STEVEN: Same with the south cabins.
[SIGHS.]
They're all empty, sir.
Sheriff.
This is not going to end well.
For you or them.
Yeah, well, like I told you once before I can't help myself.
Do these have GPS locators on them? Yes, sir counter-measure in case our comms are infiltrated.
I want a full accounting of all the radios.
We find the missing one, we find the detainees.
- Yes, sir.
- Yes, sir.
There's a name.
What? There's a name in the letters.
It's all over.
[HUSHED.]
Okay, everyone has to be quiet, okay? [BREATHING SHAKILY.]
[GROANS.]
I can't do this.
I can't do this.
I can't do this.
I can't do this.
We can't We can't run.
We can't run.
They'll find us.
You don't understand.
No, you don't know who we're dealing with Shut up! You're trying to get us caught.
Hey, Thomas, you need to calm down.
They'll hear us.
You got to shut him up, man.
They'll find us, they'll find us.
No, no, they'll You don't understand [MUFFLED SHOUTING.]
[BREATHING HEAVILY.]
[WHIMPERS.]
Breathe.
[INHALES DEEPLY.]
Breathe.
[EXHALES SHAKILY.]
We need you, Thomas.
But you got to calm down.
- Okay? - [EXHALES SHAKILY.]
Okay.
Okay.
Breathe.
[ELECTRICAL HUMMING.]
MARSHALL: Hey.
Hey.
You get the bus? Yeah, [PANTING.]
almost died getting it up here, too.
Well, keep it running.
We don't want to get slowed down by the cold.
What about the fence? [WIND WHISTLING.]
Any minute now.
[HUMMING CONTINUES.]
[ELECTRICAL CRACKLES, HUMMING STOPS.]
- That's it.
- Yep.
DOYLE: You're supposed to be looking for that radio.
The power went out on the fence.
I came to check it out.
Looks like someone sabotaged it.
Sure does.
I need assistance at the substation fence power's down.
Let's go.
Move.
[FENCE RATTLING.]
[DEVICE BEEPS.]
- Got it.
- Nice work.
- Pull that back.
- All right.
- Yep.
- [GRUNTS.]
Here you go.
Here, I got it.
Got it.
STEVEN: I'm closing in on signal.
[STATIC.]
Looks like we've been had.
[GRUNTS.]
Got it.
All right.
[BAG UNZIPS.]
Let's hope Diana knew what she was doing if this thing works.
It better.
Okay.
Now, when the last one makes it through, you go.
Don't wait for me.
I won't have to.
You're gonna make it back, right? - Okay.
- All right.
- Ready? - Yeah.
All right.
It's a dangerous game you're playing.
- I'm not playing games - Hide-and-seek.
I pull the perimeter guards to go after your friend, Jude, you sneak around and cut the power.
What happens next? I don't know what you're talking about.
Maybe this will help jog your memory.
[GROANS.]
[SOFTLY.]
Are you okay? Shh, shh.
Somebody's coming.
[FOOTSTEPS APPROACH.]
[INDISTINCT MURMURING.]
It's time.
Let's go.
Come on! [INDISTINCT WHISPERING.]
Come on.
That way, go fast.
The guards are cleared out, but they'll be back, so go on.
Keep going.
Keep going.
Keep it up.
Keep moving.
Keep moving.
Keep it quiet.
LEAH: Momma! Come here.
- Thank you.
- Quickly.
Quick.
- Hey.
- Momma, you came back.
[CHUCKLES.]
Oh, God.
Of course I came back for you.
Look at me.
I would never leave you.
Okay.
Are you okay? Mm-hmm.
- Hey, you okay? - Yeah, yeah.
You got it? Keep going.
Keep going, go.
Do you need any help with that thing? No.
One-person job.
Okay? [SIGHS.]
Give everybody to the truck.
Don't look back.
All right.
[SIGHS.]
[GROANS.]
[GROANS.]
[GRUNTS.]
Come on.
Come on, come on.
I got you.
Hey, hey! Hey, help us! Come on.
[WIND WHISTLING.]
NESTOR: Okay, come on.
Come on through.
There you go.
Just take that path all the way out, okay? Just go through now.
There you go, right there.
Watch your head.
[INDISTINCT CHATTER.]
[GRUNTS.]
Hannah! [GROANS.]
Hey.
He's hurt.
- I got you.
- [GRUNTING.]
ROY: [MUFFLED.]
It's not fair to keep them locked up like this.
These people haven't done anything wrong.
LINDAUER: Of course they have.
They killed your commanding officer, Emma Ren.
I don't believe that.
What is it you think you know, Roy? I know their names every single one.
Do you? I don't talk much, but I listen.
They talk about the things they want, what they dream about, a family, a decent job, a place to call home, peace.
You ask me what I know? I know they're good people.
They want a better life.
I also know we can give it to them.
So why wouldn't we? There are things at play here you can't possibly understand.
Everyone stay calm.
[BREATHING HEAVILY.]
[SIGHS DEEPLY.]
Now, on your knees slowly both of you.
Toss it.
He has nothing to do with this.
He has everything to do with this now that he's involved with you.
He's really hurt.
NESTOR: Let's get him through this side.
Take it easy.
Here you go.
Come on.
You got it? You guys ready? All right, let's go.
Not too much further.
Here we go.
Come on, Sheriff.
You don't want to get another good man killed.
[GUN CLATTERS.]
Let him go.
The people you were keeping here are gone.
You have no move.
I always have a move.
[GUNSHOT.]
[ELECTRICITY CRACKLES.]
[GROANS.]
- Hannah! - No, no, no! - Hannah! - You can't touch her! - [GROANS.]
- Hannah! [GROANING.]
Hannah! Hannah! Hannah! [BREATHING HEAVILY.]
Oh, no.
Hannah.
Hannah, open your eyes.
Please open your eyes! [BREATHES HEAVILY.]
Maybe I should check and see if she's still breathing.
[GASPS.]
No need.
Cut him loose.
Go.
The Sheriff and I have to talk.
It's okay.
I can't just leave you here.
It's okay.
Go.
Find the others.
[DOOR OPENS, CLOSES.]
What do you think's gonna happen to them now out there? I don't know.
But I do know what would happen if they stayed.
You don't know what the world will become.
I don't have to.
How far would you go for peace? What would you be willing to sacrifice to stop evil? How many lives? How many lives before the evil is you? You don't know what it's like to confront those questions.
I know what it's like to sacrifice for what you think is right.
And then what it's like to regret that.
You don't want to hurt those people out there.
I am those people.
And, yes they deserve to live.
Open the backpack.
Diana's handiwork, I presume.
Yeah.
It's an EMP.
It's supposed to wipe out the hard drives, the server Erase any evidence they were here.
Smart.
Wouldn't solve your problem, though.
It doesn't account for me.
I have evidence of my own.
Yeah, well that's why I was coming after you next.
Right.
So what happens now? INSPECTOR GENERAL: In addition to the server at the camp all computers, hard drives, any electronic storage being erased it appears that no peripheral computer records were ever made nothing on external DHS servers, no data trail whatsoever.
It's almost like the camp was meant to be invisible.
And it appears that was Craig Lindauer's aim all along.
[INHALES SHARPLY.]
We're very eager to talk to him, but no one seems to be able to track him down.
Since that night at the camp, he seems to have vanished.
Do you know where he is? I have no idea.
Well, is there anything else you can tell us about Lindauer's agenda? I didn't really know the man.
[INDISTINCT CHATTER.]
So we good? We're good.
[SIGHS.]
It's me.
Hey.
How you doing? This morning we received the confirmation that we were hoping for.
They have no idea who any of you are you or the others.
You're free.
[PAPERS RUSTLE.]
There you go new identities, and there's 38 more envelopes here, so - Where'd it come from? - A friend who prefers to stay anonymous.
Well, we should get word to the others.
No, y-you still aren't right.
It's okay.
I'll go.
I-I'll be fine.
- Take me with you.
- All right.
but after, we're going to that doctor, okay? No reason not to now, right? Hey, you doing okay? Yeah.
I'm sorry.
I don't mean to seem unappreciative.
No, I get it.
I do.
Anything on Rebecca? I heard the guard that escaped with them emptied his bank accounts a few days later.
They'll show up, and when they do, I'll make sure you know about it.
I appreciate that.
Any ideas of where you might go now? I haven't really thought about it.
This might help you decide.
[PAPER RUSTLES.]
[VEHICLE APPROACHING.]
[ENGINE SHUTS OFF.]
Nice truck.
Hi.
I thought you guys would be long gone by now.
Yeah, that was the plan, but Leah said something that I think you should hear.
E-L-L-I-S.
That's good.
[LAUGHS.]
What? You came back here just to spell my name? That's the name that was on the wall.
Huh? The woman who escaped, Naomi, she knew things.
She wrote the future on the wall in Apex dates, events, names your name.
Over and over.
"Ellis.
" W Wait, what does that mean? [SIGHS.]
I don't know.
But if you go to the camp and take pictures of the walls, I can translate for you.
The camp's gone, burnt to the ground.
I don't understand.
Something tells me you will.
Good luck, Reece.
[ENGINE STARTS.]
[INDISTINCT CONVERSATIONS IN DISTANCE.]
That's what it is.
Yeah.
Rachel is that you? Dad? [EXHALES SHARPLY.]
H-How? I don't know.
[SOBS.]
[CELLPHONE VIBRATES.]
JAKE: Just heard from my contact at the Inspector General's office.
Sounds like Ellis played dumb said he had no involvement with the survivors after Thorn Beach.
And they bought it? Yeah, well, there's no evidence to prove otherwise.
Well, Noah made sure of that, didn't he? I don't suppose the Sheriff gave any clues where we might be able to find him? No, he said he barely knew him.
That makes two of us.
[CELLPHONE CHIRPS.]
Oh.
Seems not everyone has fallen completely off the map.
Sophie Forbin's just been located She's in a hospital in Eugene.
You know what to do.
I'll take care of it.
Bucking for a promotion? A guy can dream, right? [GROANS.]
You give our friends the good news? Uh, yeah.
It's not gonna be easy, but at least they have a good chance now.
Mm.
Well, chip and a chair, that's all anybody needs.
What? - Chip and a chair? - Hmm? Well, used to say it in poker.
Oh, I didn't know you played poker.
Yeah, I used to.
But I had a tell.
It was horrible.
Any time I had a hand, I-I'd do one of these.
[LAUGHS.]
I had to choose.
It was either the poker or the beard.
You made the right choice.
- Oh, yeah, you think so? - Oh, yeah.
- I think I did.
- [CHUCKLES.]
Got that report, Sheriff.
Great.
Hey After all we've been through, you can call me Jude.
If it's okay with you, I'll stick with "Sheriff.
" Boundaries.
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
Great.
[TELEPHONE RINGS IN DISTANCE.]
- Close the door? - Oh, sure.
All right.
[INDISTINCT CHATTER.]
Thought, uh we were gonna leave that to the Feds, right? This one, there.
We need to find out what she knows.
About what? About what's coming.
- - [ELEVATOR CHIMES.]
[INDISTINCT TALKING OVER P.
A.
.]
[DOOR CLOSES.]
[MONITOR BEEPS RHYTHMICALLY.]
[GRUNTS.]
[GROANS.]
[GRUNTING.]
[BONES CRACKING.]
[BREATHING HEAVILY.]
Please! [BONES CRACKING.]
[GROANS.]
[SCREAMS.]
