The Voice UK (2012) s05e09 Episode Script

Battles 2

1 Last week, the teams charged into battle.
It's so beautiful.
'Some marched forward' '.
.
while others were left behind.
' We're so sorry.
'But six were stolen' '.
.
to sing again on new teams.
' - That wasn't stressful.
- LAUGHTER MARVIN: Tonight This is Round Two.
MARVIN: 'Let the battle commence.
' - CHEERING EMMA: Two coaches each have one steal left.
All the eyes are on me and Will.
Head-to-head.
I've got my eye on somebody.
HE GASPS, LAUGHTER You're going to be the evil warlord.
LAUGHTER MARVIN: But i.
am will not be swayed.
Come on, Will! I'm sure he's got something up his sleeve.
AUDIENCE SHOUTS ALL: Steal, steal, steal! APPLAUSE AND CHEERING APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Hello and welcome to The Voice, where the battle rounds continue.
Now, if the coaches thought last week was tough, then they better think again.
Indeed, only Ricky and Will are left with a steal tonight, so every decision is more important than ever.
- Shall we do it? - Oh, yes, please.
Come on.
Let's go.
Here are our coaches! APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Permission to scream it's Ricky Wilson! Along with our vintage vixen Paloma Faith! APPLAUSE AND CHEERING King of culture it's Boy George! And the man with a plan will.
i.
am.
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Fancy seeing you here! APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Please, put your hands together one more time for our coaches! APPLAUSE AND CHEERING MUSIC: Good Times by Ella Eyre - Beautiful.
- Hi! - Ricky, you've got one steal left.
- Yep.
- Got your eye on anyone you can tell us about? - Yep.
- One person in particular.
- Really? - Who? But there may not be an opportunity for him to steal that person he's got his eye on.
Oh, yeah, but Will might.
LAUGHTER Will might? I'm definitely not giving it away Will, have you got your eye on anyone tonight? I've got my ear, my eye my nose That's it.
Nothing else.
LAUGHTER Are you all ready? Yeah! - CHEERING - Shall we do it? Are you all ready? Let's get the battle rounds started.
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING PALOMA LAUGHS APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Hello, Elvis.
Nice that you came back.
LAUGHTER APPLAUSE AND CHEERING First up to battle tonight, it's Team Paloma.
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING My first pairing will be Kevin APPLAUSE I think, obviously, coming from a band MUSIC: Just a Little by Liberty X '.
.
I felt a major pressure on me.
' My blind audition was a big sort of gamble.
I'm gonna swing I had this worrying thing that, if I didn't get any turns, that may as well be the end of my singing career.
Won't look down, won't open my eyes Keep my glass full until the morning light Cos I'm just holding on So getting the four was amazing.
You're so incredible.
I promise I'm not going to let you down.
And Kevin will be singing with Faith.
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING 'I'm used to singing at church, ' so singing at the blinds was just crazy.
' I was so nervous.
You're always worth it And you deserve it 'I didn't know what to do with myself, I didn't know where to look.
' I was just like, too many people.
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Paloma gave us Spotlight by Jennifer Hudson.
For me, it's comfortable, because it's in my vocal range.
Am I doing time? The rehearsal, for me, was probably not one of my proudest vocals.
Then I'm staying, no doubt Is that you? Is that you? Lost it there.
'Kevin was quite ill.
' And, if you're ill, you can't sing as well as you normally do.
- Shall we have a go? - Is it all right to get some water? - Yeah.
- I am struggling a bit today.
What, with your voice? Yeah.
It is, like, literally pushing me to my limit.
I put a lot of pressure on myself in these sort of situations, because, when you're out there, trying to prove yourself all over again, you know, it's just tough.
PIANO PLAYS I don't like Kevin wasn't able to give 100%.
I hope that's not something that he does in the performance, because, as they say in the business, the show must go on.
I'm pretty confident that Faith will not slip up, so I think I do have to be sort of on my game and, if I did sort of screw something up, then there's a good chance that it will be the end of it for me.
BELL RINGS APPLAUSE AND CHEERING He's hoping for a second chance.
She's hoping for first place.
It's Kevin Simm APPLAUSE AND CHEERING and Faith Nelson.
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING FAITH LAUGHS - AUDIENCE: Woo! - Woo! Let the battle commence.
DRUMSTICKS TAP INSTRUMENTAL Are you a man who loves And cherishes And cares for me? Is that you? Is that you? - Is that you? - (Yeah) Are you a guard in prison maximum security? Is that you? Is that you? Is that you? Do we stay home all the time Cos you want me to yourself? Is that you? Is that you? Is that you? Or am I locked away Out of fear that I'll find someone else? (Is that you? Is that you? Is that you?) Well, I don't like Living under your spotlight (Yeah, hee-hee) Maybe if you treat me right (Yeah, hee-hee) You won't have to worry (Worry) Is this a relationship Fulfilling your needs as well as mine? Is that you? Is that you? Is that you? Or is this just my sentence? Am I doing time? (Is that you? Is that you?) - (Is that you?) - Oh! If this is love Real, real love Then I'm staying, no doubt Is that you? Is that you? Yeah! But if I'm just love's prisoner Then I'm bustin' out (Is that you? Is that you?) Oh, all I do is try (Try) To show you that you're my (My) - One and only guy - (Only guy) No matter who may come along Open your eyes Cos, baby, I don't like (Ooh, ooh) Living under your spotlight Just because you think I might (Hee, hee) Find somebody worthy Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa! Well, I don't like Living under your spotlight Maybe if you treat me right (Yeah, hee-hee) You don't have to worry (Worry) I don't like APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Wow, wow, wow.
Let's hear it for Kevin and Faith! APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Kev, You performed at the O2 with Liberty X, so this show's surely a doddle for you, right? - No, definitely not.
- MARVIN LAUGHS It's the scariest, hardest thing I've ever done in my life, so no.
And, for someone like Faith, who's, like, 17 to It's just she's awesome.
APPLAUSE DROWNS SPEECH Kev, well done, man.
How you feeling now about putting these two together tonight? I feel sick LAUGHTER because I think that they both could win the competition.
So I'm in a mess, really.
Kevin, you have this incredible gift.
You're a little bit kind of overwhelmed by it, in some respects, which is endearing, but I think you need to really work on your confidence, because you've got this incredible voice.
APPLAUSE Faith, you know, you're 17, the whole world is in front of you.
I'm amazed how confident you are at your age.
CHEERING Thanks, George.
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Will? The performance was great.
Kevin, your voice is, like, amazing.
And, Faith, being so young, 17 years old, it seems like you've been singing for 17 years.
You probably, like, came out crying, singing LAUGHTER It's true, it's true.
You were probably hitting runs like HE HUMS RUN LAUGHTER - WILL LAUGHS - But it was it was a great it was a great battle.
- Thank you guys so much.
- Thank you.
- Thanks, Will.
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Now, Ricky, you turned for both of these guys in the blind auditions.
- I did.
I did, cos I'm a very clever man.
LAUGHTER You are indeed.
Who would you say edged it tonight though, Rick? Oh, I'm just going to have to go with on the night, when I first turned during the blinds.
I felt like I really fought for Kevin.
And so I'm going to go with Kevin.
- APPLAUSE Nice one, Rick.
OK.
Well, Paloma I need to know, who's the winner of this battle tonight? Well, there's no winner and there's no loser, first of all, because I'd really like to hope that you will take whoever doesn't get through.
Will and Ricky have got two spaces.
My fingers and toes are crossed that they'll hear what I've said.
Erm This is, like, a travesty.
I feel that I can give so much more to Faith.
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Faith! Wow.
Congratulations! You are through to the knockouts, hun.
Thank you so much.
Give it up one more time for Faith on Team Paloma! APPLAUSE DROWNS SPEECH ALL TALK Well done.
Thank you.
OK, Kevin.
You're no longer on Team Paloma.
But can you tell us why another coach should snap you up.
It's pretty obvious, but in your words Erm I guess, er I guess if you're after someone that's going to give it absolutely everything and leave everything on the stage, then I can do that.
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING OK.
There could still be a chance for you, Kevin, as your future now lies with the coaches.
Kevin, you are now available for a steal.
AUDIENCE SHOU Yeah! APPLAUSE AND CHEERING One steal from Ricky! Well done, mate.
You're still in the competition.
You're going through to the knockouts.
You are now on Team Ricky.
Well done.
Thanks, mate.
Cheers, Ricky.
Appreciate that.
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING - Hey, can I ask you a question? - Mm.
Why are you so shy? Er I think, like, coming onto this, I just felt really like I could really sort of end up with egg on my face.
- No, never.
- And I think, like It's the scariest thing in the world, putting yourself out there, cos you're opening yourself up to a lot of kind of You're putting your emotions on the line.
That's what successful people do.
I really thought Kevin deserved this shot.
Woo! 'I mean, I've never taken a steal through to the finals before, 'but he has got a shot at that.
' So, I've used all my steals up.
I'm pretty happy.
And who's left, but Will? I love that! Rawr! - Will's the only one left with a steal.
- EVIL LAUGH Yet again, all eyes are on will.
i.
am.
Mr Random.
Will's always waiting till the very end.
I wouldn't do it.
It could be a tricky position for Will.
Let's see how this pans out.
You're going to like this! Pow! Ready to do it, it's Team Boy George! APPLAUSE Oh, my God, this is I think it'll be equally difficult, like the last one.
This is the hot one, isn't it? I want everyone to get up and dance.
It's one of those! So my next battle pairing is going to be J.
J Sealy is, for me, a kind of classic soul voice.
The first cut is the deepest Whoa-whoa.
He's got emotion.
He's my kind of singer.
J's going to be singing against Chase.
Let's face it, George wants to see a good battle, and me and Chase are very similar.
So it's a great pairing.
Are you ready? You going to bring it? I want to see you again I hope that you He's not just a singer, he's also a cage fighter.
So he's probably the most confident of all the people I chose.
Johnny Nash, I Can See Clearly Now is one of my favourite songs.
One of the nation's favourite songs from the '70s.
I can see clearly now the rain has gone This song definitely suits me better.
It's almost like this song was written for me.
J, he's got a bigger voice, and he was comfortable where he was.
Chase, I could hear was really at the edge of his range.
Blue skies - I am going to suggest that we come down.
- A semitone, yeah.
You're OK, because you've got quite a long way to go.
Don't let us changing the key knock your confidence.
In the session, J seemed like he had a lot more confidence.
I got something to bring for you, bruv! I'm not going to lie, man! Some of it you could say was a bit of a front.
It's a front.
It's a front.
But, hey, it's working, right? Who do you think is the most competitive? - You think it's you! - I don't like losing at anything.
I think they're really scared of each other.
This could be an awesome battle, who's going to have the edge? Chase has definitely got some moves up his sleeve.
You're going to see some skills, some dipping I've got some stuff happening there as well.
Some bat moves and punches.
Chase, you better bring it, because I got some - hoo-hoo-hoo! - I got some stuff for you, man! So you better bring it on! Bring it on! Two super-competitive singers make for one super-exciting battle.
Give it up for Chase Morton! APPLAUSE Versus J Sealey! APPLAUSE Let the battle commence.
Orange and red, the shoes.
The battle of the coloured shoes.
Yeah, yeah, yeah I can see clearly now the rain has gone I can see all obstacles in my way Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind It's going to be a bright, bright, sunshiny day I think I can make it now the rain has gone All of the bad feelings have disappeared Here is the rainbow I've been praying for It's going to be a bright, bright, sunshiny day Whoa Look all around, there's nothing but blue skies But look straight ahead, there's nothing but blue skies I can see clearly now the rain has gone - It's going to be a bright - Bright, sunshiny day Yeah, yeah I said it's going to be a bright Going to be a bright Sunshiny day.
APPLAUSE Ladies and gentlemen, Chase and J! CHEERING - Very respectful.
- I think that How was that? Compared to cage fighting, I feel this is an amazing energy.
Everyone in here vibing off the song.
George, as I said, that was so feel-good, everybody was swaying and dancing and clapping and up on their feet, including yourself? It was a very respectful performance.
You could see the friendship, and it was very close in so many ways.
In a way, this battle pairing was slightly unfair, because they are so similar, they've both got similar qualities, so it's going to be really I wish I could see clearly now! We'll give you a minute to try and see clearly.
We'll go to Paloma first.
Who caught your eye out the two, Paloma? Who caught my eye is Chase, but we're listening, so it's my ear.
LAUGHTER Too much! RICKY WHISTLES CHASE: Wow, I don't know what to say.
Thank God she's got no steals left, or you'd be in real trouble.
In all honesty, I think J sounded like the more experienced singer, but then when Chase came and brought this crazy ad lib that sounded very personal to him, I'm attracted to that, so I would go home I would definitely go home with Chase.
LAUGHTER AND APPLAUSE Oh, Paloma! Although it wasn't one of the most bombastic battles, or it wasn't the most You know, those moments where we all end up crying, it wasn't one of them.
This is the truth - it was my favourite one so far, cos I enjoyed it the most.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE - Um, Will.
- Chase had J in a singing headlock and J was like, "Oh, no, homie, you ain't going to put me "in no singing headlock," so he sing-kicked him then he body-slammed him with the high note, "Flam!" - It was cool.
- Thanks, Will.
High five! - "Pew-pew!" - "Pew!" - George, one of your favourite reggae songs.
- Yeah, beautiful song.
Did they deliver what you wanted? They did, they really delivered and they really connected to the spirit of the song.
I think based on that performance I'm going to go with Chase.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Thank you so much.
Thank you, man, honestly, and thank you, J, man.
Chase, thank you.
Go see George.
Chase, everyone.
CHEERING Well done, well done.
That was a tough call.
It is so close! I was thinking that as well.
Thank you.
So you are no longer on Team Boy George, but that doesn't mean it's the end.
As you can probably see, Will is the only one with a steal left.
AUDIENCE CALLS OUT: Steal! CHEERING Steal, steal, Will! Will, there's only a short amount of time left to steal J.
AUDIENCE GROANS I'm so sorry.
- Have you enjoyed it here? - I've absolutely enjoyed it.
I've met some great people, I've learned a lot of lessons and, yeah, I don't regret anything.
Put your hands together for J, everyone.
The most horrible feeling in the world.
In the moment, I felt that Chase kind of stole it a bit.
PALOMA: I think you can teach Chase more.
I think Chase can kind of model, he's got a lot of stuff going for him.
He could be a real Bring on the knockouts, cos someone's getting knocked out.
So no-one can be stolen on this, cos it's your one.
- I know, it sucks.
So you're going to be the evil warlord.
I think we just followed our instincts.
It's, like, in the moment I'm still following my instincts too, it's just my instincts take a little longer to bake.
I've got my oven not on 250, but, like, at 100, so it cooks longer.
LAUGHTER Next into battle, it's Team Will.
CHEERING This one is Vivica.
You're going to be singing against Lauren.
'How amazing is it to say, "I am on Team Will"?' He's like the king of the coaches.
Happened so naturally I did not know it was love My blind audition, it was a crazy feeling.
Oh! Being on the stage was so much better than working in any bagel shop.
A large latte, please.
Yeah! 'It's so hard keeping a job when I'm this ditzy.
' - Hi! - 'Lauren is, like, young, ' adorable.
- I can't believe it, I felt like I was in a dream! She could use a bit of fire.
That's the reason why I put up against Vivica Jade.
Hearts break as long as they should Vivica Jade is a powerhouse.
Cos I'm the only one who gets you I was going for it, literally singing for my life.
Even gravity can't hold us down That was dope.
That was super-dope.
The song that you're going to be singing - Love Shack by the B52s.
THEY WHOOP I was like, "Oh, my God, I know this song!" And it's so fun.
Then when I was thinking about it, I was like, "What are we going to do with this song?" Because it's like, "If you see a faded sign at the back of the road" THEY LAUGH And the reason why I picked Love Shack - I wanted them both to be uncomfortable.
I'm on the wrong page, I think I am If I said, "Hey, Vivica Jade, you're going to sing Whitney Houston," she'd be like, "All right, yeah, I love that.
"I've sung it 1,000 times!" I'm like, "Girl, you're singing Love Shack, B52s.
"Now make it interesting.
" That little last bit? - I'm, like, bored.
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
- That's when you put your DNA on it! Come out the bushes with a surprise! Right now, we got lost in the bushes.
I was like, "OK, I've got to put my own twist on it," so I went away and I wrote a little rap really, really quickly.
SHE RAPS: A little love shack, I've got plenty of that It goes - boom-boom, pow! - in the love love shack.
- That is so good.
- That's dope.
What's yours? SHE RAPS: Me and my homies are just chillin' in the club.
- They had some raps - SHE RAPS RAPIDLY and, um it was like Love Whack.
I don't think Will will want me to rap, to be honest.
BELL RINGS OK, let's do it.
It's the rapping mama versus the talkative teen.
It's Vivica Jade CHEERING against Lauren Lapsley-Browne.
WHOOPING Let the battle commence.
If you see a faded sign at the side of the road That says, "15 miles to the Love Shack" The Love Shack, yeah, yeah L-L-L-Love Shack We're headin' down the Atlanta highway, yeah BOTH: Lookin' for the love getaway Heading for the love getaway Well, I've got me a car and it's as big as a whale And we're heading on down to the Love Shack I said I got me a Chrysler, well, it seats about 20 So hurry up and bring your jukebox money BOTH: The Love Shack is a little old place where We can get together Love Shack, baby, oh The Love Shack, baby, Love Shack Love Shack, baby, Love Shack Sign says - woo! - "Stay away, fools" Cos love rules at the Love Shack Well, it's set way back in the middle of a field Just a funky old shack and I gotta get back Whoa, glitter on the mattress Glitter on the highway, yeah! BOTH: The Love Shack is a little old place where We can get together Love Shack, baby, yeah Love Sha-ack That's where it's at Love Sha-ack That is where it's at I said a boom-boom, pow with the Love-Love Shack This is the little Love Shack Wearing next to nothing cos it's like an oven Everybody's movin', everybody's groovin', baby Folks linin' up outside just to get down Everybody's movin', everybody's groovin' Funky old shack, I said funky old shack BOTH: The Love Shack is a little old place where We can get together! CHEERING Lauren, what was the highlight of that performance for you? Oh, my God! I need to work it out! The highlight of that performance was just jumping off the stage, telling Ricky I was hot as an oven and LAUGHTER running up and down the coaches and dancing.
It was just brilliant.
- Rick, did you enjoy that? - Yeah! - Yeah? Good! Good, good, we loved it.
George, a high-energy battle - what did you make of that? Yeah, listen, I can't fault the energy of the performance, it was really fun, but I feel like when you came on, you did soulful stuff, you did, Ain't Nobody, I think, right? Then you did something that's a bit soul-y.
That's a fun song.
It's kind of a silly song, the B52s are not singers and I feel like you two are real singers, so I think it was difficult, but what you couldn't do with the song, you made up for in performing and it was so entertaining, one of the best shows that we've had.
Yeah, it was, wasn't it? It was good! CHEERING OK, Ricky, first of all, did you enjoy that? Yeah, the thing is, the reason I kept coming back to this show is cos it's celebratory and it's warm and everyone makes each other better and we're having a good time and also, sorry, but I don't think it's a throwaway song, cos it's a pop song, it's a perfect pop song and pop is an art form.
I loved it, it was joyful.
Well done.
- CHEERING - Good stuff.
Now, Will, you're the only coach with a steal left and of course, you cannot steal from your own team, so this is more important than ever right now.
It's time to make that decision, Will.
OK, so AUDIENCE SHOUTS OU I got it, got it, got it, I got it.
SHOUTING CONTINUES OK, OK, OK.
All right, OK.
Who I felt shined and - You guys both shined, so that's not fair.
- "Shone.
" Um, huh? - "Shone.
" - Shone? "You both shone.
" Shone? - Yeah.
- I have a friend named Shaun.
LAUGHTER Not Shaun the Sheep? "Shined" sounds better.
But it's not right.
- LAUGHTER - This show's educational.
Hold on one second.
Listen, there's a lot of things that just don't make any sense of what the world is like today, so "shined" is great.
You can make up your own words in music, right? MARVIN: It's all good, Will, it's all good.
WILL: I know it's wrong.
I failed English.
And now I'm on English telly - go figure.
So, um sometimes you need a little bit more time in the cocoon before you turn into a butterfly.
LAUGHTER OK, Will, tell us, please.
The person that's going to go through is - and don't hate me, please, either of you.
- I might hate you.
- Yeah, we hate you.
- It's going to be, um It's going to be and don't hate me, please, don't, it's going to be Lauren.
CHEERING MARVIN: Congratulations, Lauren, you are through to the knockouts.
How are you feeling? MARVIN: Are you OK? Please, make some noise one more time for Lauren, everyone.
- CHEERING - Wow, that was tension-building.
Thank you! SPEECH DROWNED OUT BY CHEERING WILL: Wow.
OK, Vivica, unfortunately, the other three coaches have used up all of their steals, so unfortunately, we have to say goodbye.
Have you enjoyed your time on The Voice? I've loved every single minute, I'm so proud of myself.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thank you to all the team and, Will, I really appreciate the opportunity you've given me.
- Thank you.
- A lovely girl.
Listen, congratulations, OK? You did so well.
One more time for Vivica, everybody.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE - Thank you.
- PALOMA: You're a star, don't stop.
SHE WHOOPS Well done, babe.
- I was surprised at that.
- Were you? It's what I would have done.
- She had me when she ran on.
- I would love her.
Would you? Vivica? Yeah, if I could have stolen her, I would.
But this thing is out of order! Right, ready for another round? CHEERING This time we're in the capable hands of Team Ricky.
CHEERING When a man loves a woman David Barnes has got a great voice.
He's a great singer.
He needs to let go a bit more, though.
He needs to learn how to sing from the heart.
But you put on quite a show Kagan's all from the heart.
His brilliance lies in the fact that there's a vulnerability to it.
A battle of heart versus the head out there in seeing who's the best.
I think this is a great song choice for both of you.
It's a pop song, but I want to hear your kind of soul take on it.
It's not something I'd ever think about singing myself, ever.
That's why I think we can make it something special.
OK.
They say it's easy to leave you behind It's a really good song.
I get the hooks and the lyrics.
It's going to be good.
Kagan's tone of voice is definitely more suited to that type of music.
I've even forgotten the beginning bit.
There's a lot of nerves.
This song is something I'm not comfortable with, but it's good to be pushed out your comfort zone.
I want to be pushed a little bit harder.
David says he would never choose anything like this, but that's why it's good, cos he can't get away with just belting it out, he's better than that, he's a great singer.
He just needs to believe he can do it.
I can't believe you hit the ground running that well and I can hear already you figuring it out.
Stick to what you know you'll do brilliantly, don't get intimidated by his tricks and don't get intimidated by his full voice.
You either win or you lose, there's only one winner and I'm going to fight to the end to get that.
Hand on heart, I don't know which way it's going to go.
BELL RINGS I caught you watching me under the light Can I realign? Oh, yeah They say it's easy to leave you behind I don't want to try Cut cover, take that test Hold courage to your chest Don't wanna wait for you Don't wanna have to lose All that I've compromised To feel another high I've got to keep it down tonight And oh, oh, oh I was a king under your control Whoa I want to feel like you've let me go I had to break myself to carry on No love and no admission, take this from me tonight Oh, oh, let's fight Oh, oh Yeah, yeah, yeah Let go, let go, let go of everything Let go, let go, let go of everything Let go, let go, let go of everything Let go, let go, let go of everything.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Ladies and gentlemen, Kagan and David! Right, how was that? - Enjoy it? - Yeah, it was amazing.
It was amazing, great experience.
David, you're an army man - this must have been a doddle for you.
No, completely the opposite, actually, cos it's more personal to me now, so I haven't got so much of a team around me.
And out your comfort zone? Yeah, massively out my comfort zone with that song.
You had everyone up on their feet.
Fantastic.
George, who do you think was the king of the battle? I don't think it's that simple.
David, you sang parts of the song beautifully, but you just said yourself you were out of your comfort zone and you let that show in your performance.
- You've actually got a great voice.
- Thank you.
Kagan, it just felt like you were a little bit more confident, but for both of you, there were really good moments in that, so it's hard to call and I don't have to! But what if I asked you who you would pick? I think probably I would go with David.
Thank you very much, thank you.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Thank you, George.
Paloma, what did you think of the performance? I was erring on that side before, but the thing with David that sold it for me is that I feel like he's not taking himself way too seriously and it makes the audience relax, it makes me feel relaxed and enjoy it, so I would take David, but I don't think you should stop.
Thank you very much, thank you.
OK, Ricky, are you ready? You boys ready? Ricky, who's the winner of the battle? The winner of the battle today AUDIENCE SHOUTS OU The winner of the battle today is Kagan.
CHEERING Congratulations, go see Ricky.
Kagan, everyone.
CHEERING OK, so, you could join another team.
Your future now lies solely with Will.
David, you are now available for a steal.
AUDIENCE SHOUT ENCOURAGEMEN I'm just coming to de-stress you AUDIENCE CHANT AND CLAP David, I'm so sorry.
So, so sorry.
Please, put your hands together one more time, for David! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE I'm really gutted.
I put everything I had into that.
I tried to show off every single tone of the voice that I had.
But it's been a really, really good experience.
A good learning curve for me.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE OK, the next the next battle of the night comes from Team Boy George.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Look at the T-shirts they've all got on.
Oh, honey.
Does Vangelis have representation? CHEERING AND APPLAUSE OK, battling for The Boy, bring on Vangelis.
Taking on Melissa! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE - How do you feel about being paired together? - Petrified.
- Nervous.
I saw his audition.
And he was one of the two people, where I was like, "please don't let me be paired with him.
"Please let me be paired with him!" I mostly sing in my room.
I could probably count on two hands how many gigs I've done.
I think it's a confidence thing.
Do you really want to hurt me? Vangelis blew me away with his version of Do You Really Want To Hurt Me.
I was dreading somebody coming on and doing a version of one of my songs and doing it badly.
Precious kisses Words that burn me I mean it was, it was beautiful.
Absolutely beautiful.
Don't blame it on me-e-e-e! My blind audition was single-handedly, like, the most petrifying thing I've ever done in my whole entire life.
Just blame it on the ni-i-ight.
It's great knowing that things are finally going the right way for us.
- Well, it's me and you, babe.
- Yay! All cried out The song I gave them was All Cried Out by Alison Moyet.
- A handful of nothing - All cried out I'm not happy with it at all.
I just think it's not, it's not working.
As a song.
You're two of the best singers in the show.
And I have to make sure that you are amazing and I'm just not blown away by that.
Sorry.
They needed something that challenged them.
So, we swapped the song.
We're going to go for One, by U2.
- Are you happier? - I think so.
- I think, yeah, yeah.
It's just one of those songs what's really, like, heart-driven and it's like, for the soul and I was really happy that it changed.
One love I'm very happy about it.
- I think it's a much better choice for us.
- You both have to rock out.
You have to rock out, you have to, more power.
More, more power.
It's passionate.
Look at those lyrics, you know? I need to believe THAT.
- Love is the higher law.
- Don't hold back! - But then you made me crawl.
- Take it to church! Ah! I have no idea how well they've learned this song.
But they have to bring something very powerful to the performance.
BELL RINGS Let the battle commence.
WOLF WHISTLES Ooh Is it getting better? Or do you feel the same? Will it make it easier on you now? You got someone to blame You say - One love - Ooh, ooh - One life - One life It's one need In the night - One love - One love - We get to share it - Ooh, ooh Leaves you, darling If you don't care for it - Aah, aah - Yeah Have you come here for forgiveness? Have you come to raise the dead? Have you come here to play Jesus? To the lepers in your head Well, did I ask too much? More than a lot You gave me nothing Now it's all I've got We're one But we're not the same - Well, we hurt each other - Then we do it again - You say - Love is a temple Love's a higher law Love is a temple Love's a higher law You ask me to enter But then you make me crawl And I can't be holding on To what we got - When all you've got is hurt - One love One blood One life You got to do what you should - One life - With each other One lo-o-o-o-ove CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Ah, how good was that? Let's hear it for Vangelis and Melissa! George, before you make a decision, let's find out what your other coaches thought.
Paloma, what do you think? I feel like you are both, you are both fantastic singers and I feel like Melissa definitely had a definite understanding of the words she was saying, like, I believed her, because you were, like, saying the words, and I was, like, she knows the words what she's singing.
She's feeling it? I feel like Vangelis, you did a bit less of that.
And you were focusing more on your singing.
I feel like you could learn from that, from her.
You know, I disagree totally with what Paloma said.
I think, for me, you know, Vangelis, You're so good at what you do.
It's just, you do it with ease, because it's kind of It's what you do.
You're a naturally beautiful singer, and you have this great tone in your voice, and, of course, when you did your audition, you sang one of my songs and you sang it beautifully.
- Yeah.
- And one of the things that I asked Melissa to do was to bring her inner Janis Joplin and I think she really did, you know? She listened to me, and it was great, and she expressed the song brilliantly.
So, based on this performance, I have to go with my kind of emotions and my emotions say I'm going to take Vangelis through.
Vangelis! Congratulations.
You're through to the knockout.
- Congratulations.
Go and see George.
Well done.
- Thank you so much.
- Thank you.
- Very well done.
That was beautiful.
- Oh, I love you! - Well done! So, Melissa, this may not be the end just yet as your future now lies with Will.
OK, Melissa, you're now available for a steal.
OK, Will, you've only got a short amount of time left to steal Melissa.
Ah, Melissa, you haven't been stolen but to be here and achieve what you've achieved is remarkable.
You must be so happy with yourself tonight.
I'm going out on a high.
Like, I've had the best time ever.
I'm so grateful to Boy George for turning around in the first place.
Thank you so much.
I've had the best time, so thanks very much for having us.
Congratulations.
Let's hear it one more time for Melissa! Thank you.
CHEERING Well done, baby.
Absolutely.
I hope I see you again, yeah? Keep in touch, yeah? Console us, eh? Well done.
Ohh! Thank you.
Melissa really stepped up her game and I loved her, I really loved her, and I wish I could have taken her through, but Vangelis, you know, I think he's a potential winner.
Just has an amazing voice and there's just no way I could have not chosen him.
THEY CHEER Felt so amazing performing on stage.
I literally was so nervous, I was shaking.
Probably the worst I've actually sang it, but I mean, the emotion was there and I was really trying to go for it.
I just can't believe I got through.
I'm so glad, so glad.
He was out of his comfort zone as a balladeer, so I think, in that respect, you were probably right.
No, I didn't say he wasn't good, - I just said that he hadn't really listened to the words.
- Yeah, yeah.
Love the trousers! Thank you! Paloma sewed these on.
He had me up all night.
I haven't had any sleep.
I was just stitching sequins.
"Please, George, forgive me!" Get ready for Team Ricky! WHOOPING I always I The musical mum faces the comeback kid.
It's Janine Dyer CHEERING against Mia Sylvester! CHEERING Wahoo! Don't know just how it happened I came last year and obviously didn't get the chair turn.
It does knock your confidence a bit.
Coming back this year, I wasn't expecting anything.
I just went there and gave it my best shot.
Oh, but it ain't no way For me to give you Super proud and super happy that I managed to get a chair turn.
.
.
Call on me Mia can sing the socks off anyone.
She's brilliant.
But then Janine's got this massive soul.
Like a bridge over troubled water I've been at home raising my family.
I decided to put my singing on the back burner for a little while.
And so doing blind auditions on The Voice is the first time I've been able to just do something for me again.
It just felt really good to be there.
.
.
lay me down.
It comes complete from the heart with Janine.
- How you doing? - Good, how are you? - Cool.
I couldn't not turn for Janine.
Or Mia.
They were too good.
And they're up there with the best I've ever had on my team, and that's why I put them together.
Ain't no other Janine and Mia both have a lightness of touch about their big voices which make it special.
Oh, oh, oh, oh.
It's really important that you focus on the battle and making it the best it can be.
That's why I put you together, because I know you'll really push each other.
And no other man but Ain't no other man Out of all the battles, I think this is the most competitive.
.
.
You.
This could be an amazing battle, this one.
- Yeah! - It's exciting.
That's exciting stuff.
Let the battle commence.
Hey Do your thing, honey! I could feel it from the start Couldn't stand to be apart now Something 'bout you caught my eye Whoo! Something moved me deep inside Don't know what you did, boy, but you had it And I've been hooked ever since, yeah I told my mother, my brother, my sister and my friend I told others, my lover, both past and present tense Every time I see you, everything starts making sense, yeah No, oh Ain't no other man can stand up next to you now Ain't no other man on the planet does what you do You're the kind of guy that a girl finds in a blue moon You got soul, you got class, you got style with your bad ass Ain't no other man, it's true Ain't no other man but you BOY GEORGE MIMICS JANINE Ain't no other, hey, there ain't no other No other, ain't, ain't no other lover Ain't no other, I, I, I need no other Ain't no other man but you You are there when I'm a mess Talk me down from every ledge Give me strength, boy, you're the best You're the only one who's passed every test, yeah, yeah! Ain't no other man can stand up next to you Ain't no other man on the planet does what you do You're the kinda guy a girl finds in a blue moon You got soul, you got class, you got style, your bad ass Ain't no other man, it's true Ain't no other man Ain't no other man, it's true Ain't no other man but you.
CHEERING Janine and Mia! Go, girl! Well, well, well, ladies! - Ricky, they were great, weren't they? - Incredible.
You know that that's my kind of thing, and I loved it, and you did yourselves proud, you did your friends and family proud and thanks, you did me proud, as well.
Thank you.
- You were having a right little boogie, as well.
- Yeah! How can you help yourself? A hard decision again, for you, Ricky, we'll come to you in a minute.
Firstly, will, what did you think? That was really amazing.
A lot of power.
Your low notes were awesome.
Your high tricks up there on your falsetto were great.
I was thoroughly entertained, and great song choice, Rick.
- Thanks, Will.
- OK.
It was powerful.
And it's really going to be hard to call it, and I don't have to! George, George, George, I do need help on this one.
You need help, but not with this! LAUGHTER A bit like usually, I've kind of half made my mind up, but this is the one battle that I It, you know, still ticking.
It's hard, because there were moments when Janine kind of owned it and then there were moments when Mia took it like, "Oh, Concorde, there we go.
" High in the sky! So, for me, you were equally matched but, you know, I'm just being a coward, like! Not a great look.
- Sit on that fence, George.
It's not like you.
- I would go with Mia.
Mia.
Thank you, George.
Er, Paloma? I'll just come and stand here.
Get some, like, some female vibe.
APPLAUSE Emma? Can you sing, Emma? - Can I sing? - Yeah.
- Hell, no! That's a real shame, because that's, like, a good-looking supergroup up there.
I mean, that's like - I can mime really well! - Awesome.
So, Paloma, what did you think? You're both very equally matched.
I'm going to sit down over here.
I'm just not Erm, yeah, it's really hard.
They're both brilliant singers.
You felt, like, empowered, watching you guys.
Oh, I don't envy you.
So, you know, because they're equally matched and he said Mia, - I'm going to say Janine.
- Yeah, I knew you would! Thank you, Paloma.
There's no point in putting people against each other that aren't going to raise their games and become better together.
You both became better together.
And it makes my decision really, really tough.
I thought you did amazingly well.
It's something to celebrate, like George said before.
That was a real moment.
Thank you.
OK, Ricky.
Whoohoo! Ricky, who is the winner of the battle? The first one I'm going to take through to the knockout is Mia.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Oh, my God! It's OK! Don't cry! Go and see Ricky.
Congratulations.
We'll see you in the knockout.
Mia, everyone.
Hello! Well done, Mia.
Absolutely amazing.
Love you loads.
So proud of you.
OK, Janine, your future now lies with Will.
CROWD CHANT: Steal her! Steal her! Steal her! Will, there's only a short amount of time left to steal Janine.
It's all right, Will.
Thank you.
- Have you had a good time? - Fantastic.
Janine, thank you so much for taking part.
Thank you.
A pleasure.
Thank you.
Janine, everyone! You all right there? You really have been.
Sorry.
I don't know what Will's waiting for.
I mean, he's in the worst position because he's right by the families.
And that's a lot of pressure.
Coming soon to a screen near you.
It's Team Will.
WHOOPING When you ca-ca-catch me like you do Tom, he's a really good singer.
Like, really good.
And he's comfortable.
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me Colleen is a sweetheart, who sings amazing.
She, too, is comfortable.
So how you guys feeling? Pumped, pumped.
I wanted to throw this song to you guys and see how you guys get on with it.
- You wanna hear a bit of craic? - Yeah, let's do it.
I had them singing Everything She Wants by Wham! Almost to break them out of their comfort zone so I could see how they shine when it's dark.
Somebody, yeah Oh, no! In the rehearsal, Tom had the upper hand but don't count Colleen out just yet.
- I got to work on that.
Sorry.
- Yeah.
What did Michael Jackson say once? "That's why they call it 'rehearse' "because if you don't rehearse, you'll end up in a hearse.
" Yeah! I THINK he said that! Right now there's a predator and a prey.
The cheetah obviously runs faster than the gazelle.
But there's been plenty of gazelles that got away.
CHEERING Two mates are about to become vocal enemies.
From Team Will, it's Colleen Gormley against Tom Rickels.
Let the battle commence.
Oh, She Wants! You want that, Will.
Ah! Somebody told me "Boy, everything she wants is everything she sees", yeah I guess I must have loved you Because I said you were the perfect girl for me, baby But now we're six months older And everything you want and everything you see Is out of reach, not good enough I don't know what the hell you want from me, oh - Oh, I - Oh, I La, la, la, la Ooh Somebody tell me Won't you tell me Why I work so hard for you Give you money, all to g-g-give you, money, yeah My situation never changes Walking in and out of that door Like a stranger, I got the wages I give you all, you say you want more, yeah, yeah, yeah And all I can see at the end of the week All the things we sign and the things we buy C-C-Cant keep us together, girl It's just a matter of time, ooh All to give you money.
Please give it up for Colleen and Tom! Well done, guys! Well done! - How was that? - That was really good! It's just been the most amazing experience.
A little girl from Northern Ireland standing here tonight is like, "Wow! Experience.
" Look how happy she is.
Look at that face - so happy! Tom, this is kind of miles away from gutting fish, isn't it? Yeah, I mean, my usual audience is dead fish.
LAUGHTER - Definitely no dead fish in here tonight.
- This is the plaice to be! APPLAUSE AND CHEERING What did he say? - This is the plaice to be.
- Plaice.
- Plaice.
- It is a fish.
- Meaning fish.
He is reeling you in! Let's go that way.
Oh, Will, barracud-ya gonna choose? GROANS Will, we'll come to you in a minute, let's see what your fellow coaches thought, first.
George, did it take you back to the '80s? It did, I actually love that song, it's one of my favourite Wham! songs.
I am a secret Wham! fan.
I don't tell people about it much.
APPLAUSE Nobody will find out.
It was kind of a little chaotic, I did not sure what was going to happen next, there was a lot of sort of falsetto, different ranges going on, you know.
I am not entirely sure whether you understood the text of the song, what it is about, because it is kind of like a sultry thing, but it was a really fun performance to watch.
You seem to have a great relationship with each other, which was nice to feel, as well.
- Who would you take to the knockouts? Uh, I would probably take the fishmonger.
APPLAUSE He claims Tom! - I think that is what you should call your album.
- What? Fishmonger.
Off with their heads! I thought it was really entertaining, because, because it is quite important, this bit, a lot of people forget to inject their personality back into it, and they just concentrate on singing it well.
You both added humour to it, and I thought you were both great, you both in the pants off it.
APPLAUSE Will, so, did you push them out of their comfort zone with the song? Yeah, I totally pushed them out of their comfort zone, and I apologise for putting you guys in that uncomfortable situation, but, that being said, you guys did perform it wonderfully, and you guys did it with smiles, and you guys did it with your own styles, and everybody else was, like, "Oh, I like their profiles.
" And they were dancing in the aisles! I wish I could send both of you through, but I can't, so the winner of this battle, to keep it real, boom, real simple, without getting into any, like, I don't want to analyse it, I don't want to, like, give you theories on why I've I'm just kidding, it's Tom.
APPLAUSE I have decided you are like a pop sage.
You know, because, it's kind of wise, what you say.
It's like He delivered in every meaning of that sentence.
I am so excited! I have had the most amazing time, and I just want to thank Tom, he has been a great battle partner, and, to my amazing coach, will.
i.
am, it has been brilliant.
Thank you.
It is hard to say goodbye to acts, it is.
I don't like saying no to people.
APPLAUSE OK, come on, then, Ms Faith, give us a little teaser for what is to come next.
Sorry, but Oh, what's he doing? Can you get back in your chair, please? Thank you, Will.
I am really excited about the next pair.
We have got an incredible testament to womanhood, a mother of four.
- OK.
- And, somebody who, in my view could sing the phone book and still touch my heart.
OK.
Will, can you go back in your chair, please? Thank you, Will.
Sorry, Paloma, carry on.
I have finished.
OK, here we go.
It is Team Paloma.
APPLAUSE How you both feeling? - Really good.
- Excited.
- We are happy, aren't we? - Very happy.
- You're happy? - Yeah, very happy.
- Good.
You do something to me.
Deano has one of the most unusual voices, there is so much depth to it.
It's what you don't do, It's what you don't say I turned for Meagan because she had a lot of conviction, a real optimistic positivity behind her voice.
She is a mother of four kids, she is representative of the strength and determination of women.
Lunch is ready now! The boys are really excited, they are just so happy for me.
ALL: Mum is the best mummy in the world.
I am doing it to show them that if you work hard, you can achieve anything.
- I cannot believe what a yummy mummy you are.
- Thank you! They are really supportive of everything I want to do, in fact, they have written me a little card that I have brought with me.
- Oh, wow, let me see.
- They made me this.
- So sweet.
"We love you, Mum.
" It is so gorgeous.
This I can't deny.
Megan is a really, really good singer.
She can do the riffs and the runs, which is where I am not really like that.
So, I am really nervous.
Here's my confession - Oh, sorry.
- You stay the same.
It is surreal that I am here, basically I am just a bit of a bedroom singer.
- I feel a bit out of my depth.
- You're not, by the way, but you might feel that way.
You are so exceptional.
You are born with a tone that means that you are almost in a luxurious position.
Deano needs to realise that he is on a big stage now, and come out, as opposed to going into himself.
It is going to be very difficult for me to choose between this pairing.
I am regretting it, pairing them together, already.
APPLAUSE It is Deano versus Megan.
She looks so good.
Let the battle commence.
Games, changes and fears When will they go from here? When will they stop? I believe that fate has brought us here And we should be together, baby But we're not Oh Here is my confession May I be your possession? Boy, I need your touch Your love, kisses and such With all my might, I try BOTH: But this, I can't deny Deny I play it off, but I'm dreamin' I'm dreamin' of you, baby I'll keep my cool, but I'm fiendin' Try to say goodbye Try to walk away Though I try to hide it, it's clear My world crumbles when you are not here Goodbye and I choke I try to walk away and I stumble Though I try to hide it It's clear My world crumbles when you are not here.
APPLAUSE Yeah, raise the roof for Deano and Megan! APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Guys, Deano, Megan, well done.
Now, Will, how did these guys deal with that Macy Gray number? Um, first off, great song choice.
Macy is, like, a dear friend, one of our first tours was with Macy Gray, and if she was here, she would have said IMPERSONATES MACY GRAY: "That is great, I really like it a lot.
" IMPERSONATES MACY GRAY: She would like the fact that you sung the song on the show.
Thanks, Will.
Will, who would you put through the night? - Just on hairstyle alone, Megan.
- Megan.
No, but she sounded great, too.
APPLAUSE Deano, obviously has a unique voice, it is separate, it's different to anything I have heard on this show so far.
And then, Megan is the very definition of, a, singing wise, a really safe pair of hands, she could, like, sing anything and you would never feel worried when she sings, that anything can go wrong.
You're safe.
So it is totally different ends of the singing spectrum, both which I appreciate greatly, but if I had to take someone through Who connects with emotionally? I think that Possibly Deano, but I would take through Megan.
OK, Cheers, thanks, Ricky.
APPLAUSE George, what do you make of that battle? Deano, you have this great rasp in your voice, and I think you are a much better singer than what we have just heard.
Equally, I think, Megan, the same.
It is just, sometimes when you put a guy and the girl together, even though it is a brilliant song, so I am not knocking that, babe, but I think you struggle pitch-wise, so we didn't get the full benefit of what you can both really do, so that is a real shame, because I can't really call it honestly.
All right, thanks, George, thank you.
Paloma, what are you thinking right now, hon? It is really hard, because I like them both a lot, and, there is only one steal left, which Will has.
I am really hoping that Will would think about using it.
Fingers crossed.
And, as baned as I am to do this, I am going to take to the next round CROWD SHOUTS - Deano.
- Deano! Congratulations, mate.
You are through to the knockouts, well done.
APPLAUSE Well done, Deano, how are you feeling, mate? Amazing, thank you so much.
Well done, you're still on Paloma.
Go and give her a big hug.
One more time for Deano! APPLAUSE OK, Megan, you are no longer on Paloma's team, but tell us why you would love to stay in the competition.
First of all, can I thank Paloma for bringing me to this stage? - I am so grateful to be here tonight.
- You're wonderful.
- Thank you so much.
And I would just like to say, the kids wanted me to do this because I have dedicated so much of my life to raising them, which is my greatest honour.
As much as I love motherhood, I love music and it is time for me to try and let myself flower in that sense, because I have always been a singer.
APPLAUSE Thank you.
Brace yourself, as your future now lies with Will.
CROWD SHOUTS OK, Megan, you are now available for a steal.
CROWD SHOUTS Come on, Will! Will, you only have a short amount of time left to steal Megan.
Oh, Megan.
That is the end of the road for you, Megan, but you have had a fantastic time on the show, right? Yes, I have had an amazing time.
Thank you so much, and well done to Deano, he is incredible.
Oh, bless you, let's hear it one more time, Megan, everybody.
APPLAUSE It was so hard, but I really want you to keep singing.
It is really hard.
Look, look, look! She is so sweet.
- She was so, first of all, one of the most gracious - People on the show.
- .
.
contestants.
So sweet, what she just said.
So nice, they've got a lovely mum.
- We have all got a lovely mum.
- You have a wonderful mum, boys.
- Awesome.
APPLAUSE Seeing my children there was one of the proudest moments for me.
Performing in front of them was an honour.
Poor Will was in the worst position right there.
That is four records you're not going to sell.
Thanks, Will, thanks.
I will remember that.
Again, we are waiting for Will.
So, what will push his button? Unfortunately I am the only steal left, so it is tough.
I don't know what Will is waiting for, it would be very silly of me to try and imagine what is going on in Will's head, because it is kaleidoscopic.
Yes! What is he going to do? Probably wait till the very end.
I feel like Will enjoys the thrill of being the last person to fill their team.
- Sure do.
- It is like a gamble.
- "Come on, Will!" I have someone in mind, but I don't know if their coach is going to let them go.
I just hope, for his sake, that this person becomes available.
OK, from the house of O'Dowd, it is Team Boy George! APPLAUSE Leighton and Eli, it is a kind of scary pairing.
Heaven help us all.
Leighton he is like the Welsh Stevie Wonder, he's got this big, soulful voice.
This is real, real, real, real love.
And, Eli, she is super cool, beautiful, tall, elegant.
It is really going to be interesting.
I think, it is the one to watch, for me.
The song I have chosen you to sing is I'll be Your Woman by Gladys Knight.
- OK, OK.
- I love the drama of this song.
There is a lot of light and shade in this.
The song, I think, is going to require you to bust out a little bit.
So, no pressure! The song is completely beyond my comfort zone.
And, Leighton is like, "Yeah, I can belt these notes.
" That you're nothing at all.
But I will pick you up, darling.
You are holding back so massively.
Leighton's got this big voice, and so have you.
You have got to give me a lot more than what you're giving me.
When I see someone like Eli holding back, it makes me realise, that is what I am here to do.
I'm here to encourage her to go and be brave.
- Life is so crazy - Is it, is it crazy? Come on, baby! How crazy is life? Come on! You are giving me, like, a toe.
I need whole leg.
With a heel on! She can't sing it like she is going down the shops.
Get a pint of milk.
It has got to be, you know, bust a gut, babe! - Being a fellow Gemini, we are emotional creatures.
- Yes.
And, you are, what I try to do as a singer, you know, I am not interested in perfection, but I am interested in making an emotional connection with the audience.
It is going to be really exciting, and terrifying, to see what she does with the advice I have given her, because, you know, she really has to dig deep.
APPLAUSE Let the battle commence.
Mmmm, mmmm If I were your woman And you were my man You'd have no other woman You'd be weak as a lamb If you had the strength To walk out that door My love would over-rule my sense I'd call you back for more If I were your woman If you were my woman If I were your woman If you were my woman And you were my man Ooooh, oooh She tears you down, darling Says you're nothing at all But I'll pick you up, darling When she lets you fall You're like a diamond But she treats you like glass Yet you beg her to love you But me, you don't ask If I was your woman If you were my woman - If I were your woman - If you were my woman - If I was your woman - If you were my woman Here's what I'd do Baby, I'd never, no, never stop lovin' you Oooh, ooh, Ooooh Life is so crazy And love is unkind Because she came first, darlin', will she hang on your mind? You're a part of me, baby And I want you to know it You're what I need And I didn't even need you to show it - If I were your woman - If you were my woman - If I was your woman - If you were my woman - If I was your woman - If you were my woman, baby Here's what I'd do Baby BOTH: I'd never, no, never stop lovin' You.
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING That was incredible.
Let's hear it for Leighton and Eli, everyone! Amazing.
APPLAUSE Well done, bro.
- Leighton, I know your son is the reason - My son Sorry.
- that you entered this competition.
Is he here tonight? - Yes, stand up, Jay.
Oh, that is his son.
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Good stuff, he must be very proud of his dad.
- How was that performance for you? - I really enjoyed myself.
- Fantastic, yes.
- You sounded brilliant, mate.
- Thank you, sir.
And, Eli, how was that performance for you? It was amazing, I loved singing with Leighton, it was just electric.
It was electric, it was amazing.
George, of course, you can only keep one of these acts.
Let's see if your other coaches have any words of wisdom.
Paloma, who had the soul for you tonight, would you say? We were utterly transported, it was so brilliant.
And so joyful.
You both have so much soul.
That is the kind of thing that you play at Montreux Jazz Festival, and you look in the archives of what happened there and it is this type of stuff.
- You should both be so proud.
- Thank you very much.
- Thank you, Paloma.
APPLAUSE I know it is a tough one but if you had to pick between the guys, would you have Leighton or Eli tonight? And what did you think, Ricky? RICKY: That is interesting you should ask, Paloma.
I loved it, I don't have any steals left, which I feel idiotic because of, I should have waited, I should have been like Will, because both of you deserve to go further in the competition.
APPLAUSE George has a really tough time, and you are both great singers, that is obvious, but what's more than that is I totally believed you.
Totally.
I felt like you were madly in love, and you were his woman.
- And he was - You felt that, right? - It was sultry! - Will, what are you thinking right now? You know how much soul your daddy got? Your dad is packed with freakin' soul.
- Where are you from, Mr Jones? - Cardiff, Wales.
- Wales? - Soul city! Is it something in the water, or something? I think so.
Where it's like, where black guys are like, "Damn, that guy has more soul than me!" Seriously.
I say that with all the blackness in me.
OK, and you are just not fair, Ms Cripps.
That is not fair.
Because, usually you see beautiful women and you're like, "She can't really sing without a computer.
" Or "She's not that pretty.
"She got the best make-up artist in the world and the best" - Like, wow.
Seriously.
- Yeah, drop dead.
- Stunning, drop dead.
- And she is Welsh as well, Will.
- I am Welsh and black.
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Whoa! What is going on? APPLAUSE OK, George, did these two deliver exactly what you intended tonight? They did, and, you know, I have been blessed, because all of my singers have really listened to the advice I gave them, and I was very, very, very clear about what I wanted.
And I know for Eli, Eli is supercool, she is like a Sade, you know, and I kind of forced her, there were moments where I was, like, "Go on girl!" You did a bit of it.
You did not quite go as mad as I wanted you to and, there is so much more inside of you, so much more to come, because you are really good.
Thank you.
Um.
Leighton just has this guttural, you know, I love the fact that he looks like he does and then sings like that.
It's like, "What? What is going on in the world?" But Wales does produce amazing singers.
As much as I love you, Eli, and I hope someone grabs hold of you, because you are awesome, I have to go with my Welsh Stevie Wonder, and I'm going to take Leighton through.
Leighton, congratulations.
You are through to the knockouts.
Well done, Leighton.
Go and see George.
One more time for Leighton, everyone.
- APPLAUSE - You really nailed it, and you were respectful, and you built the song and did everything I ask you to do.
- Thank you.
- Honestly.
- You are awesome.
Eli, can you tell us why you would like to stay in the competition? I have had such an incredible journey and such a great adventure so far, in The Voice, and I feel like it has just begun, so I am not quite ready for it to finish.
OK, Eli there could still be a chance for you, your future now lies with Will.
- OK.
OK, Eli, you are now available for a steal.
CROWD SHOUTS OK, Will, you only have a short amount of time left to steal Eli.
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING You are on Team Will, Eli! Go and see your new coach.
One more time for Eli, everyone.
APPLAUSE Will was my complete guardian angel today, because I loved both Eli and Leighton.
Buzzing, we both got through, absolutely buzzing, because we worked hard.
Lookie-lookie! I held out for Eli Cripps, and went through a lot of pressure and I am happy that George left her available for a steal.
Oh, my God, it is so good.
Did we find out whether Leighton's son could sing? Get them young.
Can his son sing? Leighton's son.
- Leighton's, he probably could.
- Should we ask him? Baby Jones, do you know how to sing? APPLAUSE AND CHEERING I'm only asking for later.
You know, we like to get in there early, in case you've got a good voice like your dad, you know.
How old are you? 15? I used to be 15.
How old are you? 20-late.
- No, I'm proud to be 40.
- Really? - CHEERING - Yeah.
- You're 40? - Yeah.
- You look good.
- Yeah.
- You look good.
- Yeah, yeah.
40, yeah.
Yeah.
I can't eat certain foods any more, though.
Like, I can't eat, like, burgers and stuff.
Like burgers go here.
Like, burritos go here.
LAUGHTER Ask George.
LAUGHTER That was mean of you.
Whoohoo! By stealing Eli for his team, Will has given all the remaining acts plenty to think about.
There are no steals left.
It puts a lot more pressure on the acts.
One singer will always have to go from now on.
There's no second chance.
It's like, you're the best, you're going.
I like a little competition From time to time.
That's how it is, so get to work and try your best.
Because everything is up for grabs.
Next up is Team Will.
CHEERING The next battle is Mari Marli singing against Lyrickal.
CHEERING Lyrickal is the beatboxer, a good one.
HE BEATBOXES He's a singer, a great one.
Futures made of virtual insanity And he looks like the black Mad Max.
Baba-da baba-da baba-da Oooh.
I love her Can't leave her Forever I'll always need her Mari Marli came and sang Bang Bang and I thought straight away that she was singing the wrong song.
I wrote that song for my limitations of singing.
She obviously sings one trillion times better than me.
I could hear how awesome you actually are.
Thank you.
Whoo! I've paired them together to sing Like I Can by Sam Smith because it's the perfect solo song.
Like I can, can, can Can, can, can.
That was really fresh.
Your falsetto was ill, Lyrickal.
Sounds really nice.
It's obvious that you're extra skilled in this department called singing.
I did feel a bit left out in the rehearsal with Will.
But that just makes me want to work harder.
- You got, like, crazy soul.
- Thank you.
- Really, really awesome.
This is a true battle.
This one is like, "You got 1000 skills? "Ha! Cute.
" And then Mari Marli says, "I got a truck full coming.
" And then Lyrickal says, "Ha-ha, you foolish child! "I'm a hologram and I'm downloading more of me.
" It's going to be awesome.
CHEERING Bring on Mari Marli up against Lyrickal.
Let the battle commence.
He could be a sinner or a gentleman He could be a preacher when your soul is damned He could be a lawyer on a witness stand But he'll never love you like I can, no He could be a stranger you gave a second glance He could be a trophy, yeah from a one-night stand He could have your humour but I don't understand Cos he'll never love you like I can, can, can Why are you looking down all these wrong roads When mine is the heart and the salt of the soul? There may be lovers who hold out their hands But they'll never love you like I can, can, can They'll never love you like I can, no A chance encounter of a circumstance Maybe he's a mantra keeps your mind entranced He could be the silence in this mayhem But he'll never love you like I can, can We both have demons that we can't stand I love your demons like devils can If you're self-seeking An honest man Then stop deceiving Lord, please Why are you looking down all the wrong roads When mine is the heart and the salt of the soul? There may be lovers who hold out their hands But they'll never love you like I can, can, can They'll never love you like I can, oh, yeah They'll never love you like I can, can, can.
CHEERING Yeah, let's hear it one more time for Mari and Lyrickal.
CHEERING Hey.
Well done, guys.
Well done, Mari.
Will, what were you looking for in this battle? I was looking for control.
I think you guys both over-sang.
I think you guys came in like, "I'm gonna tear this house down.
" A lot of the time when you over-anticipate knocking it out the park, you rarely do.
It's like usually you knock it out the park when you least expect it and it's when you're in your natural state but it was still beautiful.
- I could just feel the thinking.
- Thanks, Will.
George? I was really surprised by Lyrickal, mostly, because it's so different to what you did in your audition.
And I just didn't know you had that kind of lovely tone in your voice.
So that was a nice surprise.
You're an amazing singer, there's a really powerful voice there, so it would be a hard one but, because Lyrickal surprised me so much, I would probably go with Lyrickal because I was like, "Wow, that's a surprise.
" APPLAUSE I was the same, like, when I heard Lyrickal sing, I was like, "Oh, this is totally not what I expected.
" I feel like you could have done a bit less of the falsetto.
It's, like, enough to have a great tone.
And, Mari, I think that you were a bit nervous and, like, a little pitchy.
I could see your leg shaking at the beginning.
It's really hard to control when your nerves are making you shake.
Ricky, tell us what you thought.
Not many people can show another side of them and then a side of them that you prefer to the original.
Lyrickal, I preferred that to your blind audition, like, a lot.
But if I'm going to pick who my favourite was, I would probably take Mari.
APPLAUSE Mari.
Thank you, Ricky.
Of course, there are no more steals available, so this choice is really more important than ever and it's time to make that decision, Will.
So my decision moving forward is who I feel is ready for the next level of the competition.
- And that will be Lyrickal.
- Lyrickal, congratulations.
CHEERING Yay! You are through to the knockouts, Lyrickal.
That's amazing, unbelievable.
Well done, mate.
Unbelievable.
Mari, unfortunately, the other three coaches have used all of their steals, so we're going to have to say goodbye.
It's been so amazing to sing in front of people that everybody, like, looks up to as idols.
It's been amazing to work with the other singers and be part of such a great show.
- CHEERING Let's hear it one more time for Mari, thank you.
It's just too hard to put into words, man.
I feel ridiculous, crazy, about to collapse.
For Lyrickal, you ain't seen nothing yet.
I'm still in the place, so place your bets.
Next up, it's Team Ricky.
When you going to call? Don't leave me broken-hearted.
Aine's got a terrific voice, she's amazing.
On a good day, she can out-sing Rachel.
You're something special.
CHEERING I'm going in for the kill CHEERING Think of your favourite musicians of all time.
They all had something very special, something that makes your heart break a little bit when you think about them.
Something that makes your heart leap a little bit when you think about them.
That's what Rachel Ann's got.
They are the two youngest in the competition.
Only one can go through.
I really hate to do that to them.
The song you're going to be singing together is This Is The Last Time by Keane.
Oh, I don't know it but I like Keane.
- Hello, ladies.
- Hey.
- How you doing? - Nervous.
- Yeah, you must be.
- Nervous.
- I really suffer from nerves as well.
Shall we just go for it and see what happens? The last time When they first did the chorus I was like, "Wow.
" For anything you like.
I mean, that, you've really hit the ground running and I know you don't feel like you have but, towards the end when the confidence came up, I nearly went, when it first hit the chorus.
This could be a real tear-jerker.
Rachel is one of my friends and it's going to be kind of tough seeing one of us go through and one of us not go through.
Use the nervous energy in a positive way.
Embrace it and I think it's going to be amazing.
CHEERING The sweet 16s are about to get super serious.
Let the battle commence.
This is the last time that I will say these words I remember the first time The first of many lies Sweep it into the corner Or hide it under the bed Say these things they go away But they never do The last time you fall on me for anything you like Your one last line You fall on me for anything you like BOTH: And I No, I don't mind This is the last time That I will show my face Say some things they never die Well, I tried and I tried - Something I wasn't sure of.
- Whoa! But I was in the middle of Something I forget now But I've seen too little of The last time you fall on me for anything you like One last line You fall on me for anything you like BOTH: And I No, I don't mind.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Hello, girls! How you doing? Come on in! How was that? Oh, it was actually so good.
Like, oh, my God! Our first barefoot battler.
- Yes.
- Did you enjoy it? - I love her! Aww! APPLAUSE Will, you were doing a lot of pointing.
You just kept going When Rachel Ann hit that whistle - Thank you.
- When she went up to the clouds, I was like, "What?!" CHEERING I mean, I'm sure there were frequencies that were heard by animals that we couldn't even hear! Aine, good on ya for today! - LAUGHTER - Everyone does that joke! Oh, right, so I'm not the first? No.
That look! - "No.
" - LAUGHTER - I love the bare feet.
- Thanks.
- It's so Sandy Shaw.
Everyone always says that, but I don't actually know who she is.
The first time I went on Top Of The Pops, I went bare feet because I loved Sandy Shaw.
Now I'm really good friends with her.
You'd love her.
- Yeah, I think I would.
- I wore bare feet once and then everybody walked out the room.
- LAUGHTER You're both great singers.
Both great performers, both mesmerising to watch and both causing me a massive headache right now.
An even bigger headache as well because there's no more steals, which means no more second chances.
- I know.
Are you ready? The person who is going to sing again in the knockouts is Rachel Ann.
CHEERING Congratulations! Can I just say, I'm so grateful and I'm going to miss you so much! - I love you.
- Don't make me cry! I know you're going to do so well.
APPLAUSE What a sweet girl.
- She's so beautiful.
- Really sweet.
Going to make me cry.
I'm not crying because I didn't get through because I am so grateful that I got this far, you know? Thank you so much.
But I don't know, I just think she's such a good friend and that's why So, you've come here and you've made a brilliant friend as well.
Please put your hands together for Aine! - APPLAUSE - Well done, Aine.
Well done.
We want to take you home! You were wonderful.
Good luck.
God bless you.
See you later.
- Thanks.
- You OK? - Yeah, I'm fine.
She's so sweet! I wasn't like that when I was 16! When you sing, it lights up the whole room.
- Thank you.
- Well done.
- OK.
- It was really good.
- Thank you.
- Happy? - Yeah, I am happy.
- Be happy.
- See you soon.
- Thank you.
OK, Paloma, it's the final battle.
This one is a little tete-a-tete.
Ooh! AUDIENCE WHOOPS I like it when you get all French on me.
LAUGHTER Here's another duet from Team Paloma! CHEERING It's the Queen of Style versus the King of Swing.
Bring on Beth Morris CHEERING taking on the charms of Steve Devereaux.
CHEERING Oh, my God.
My final pairing is going to be Steve In the blind audition, Steve sounded familiar to me because of the music that I like.
That's why the lady is a tramp.
CHEERING And he's just such a huge presence.
I do voice-overs to make a crust.
Don't push me cos I'm close to the edge.
And you, my dear friend, are going to be singing with Beth.
Beth's blind audition Oh, it's giving me goose bumps just thinking about.
They call it Nutbush Oh, Nutbush.
CHEERING Stop! Let's just make musical babies now! - I'm going to go with Paloma.
- Yes! And I'm just so excited that she picked me.
Have you got a voice-over impression of me yet? - Yeah.
- Let's hear it.
I tell myself Steve's an absolute hoot.
Starting here! That was then and this is now.
All right? He's a barrel of laughs.
You're just so smooth.
Sweetheart, you're never going to rough anything down with me.
Don't give me that tone of voice on your face.
Steve, shut up.
- Shall I leave my name and number in the wastepaper bin? - Please do! No! Steve is just, "Whoa!" He's there and I love that, but it introverted me a little bit.
I think you're crazy Just like me.
Overpowering somebody doesn't necessarily mean that you're the better performer.
I feel like, Steve, you need to be the gentleman and not just hog the limelight, darling.
I think that if Beth lets Steve overpower her, then she could be going home tonight.
Behave, Steve.
Shh.
Let the battle commence.
I remember when I remember, I remember when I lost my mind There was something so pleasant about that place Even your emotions had an echo In so much space Ooh, yeah And when you're out there Without care, yeah, I was out of touch But it wasn't because I didn't know enough Oh, no I just knew too much Does that make me crazy? Does that make me crazy? Does that make me crazy? Possibly And I hope that you are having the time of your life But think twice That's my only advice Come on, everyone! Come on now, who do you Who do you, who do you, who do you think you are? Ha-ha-ha, bless your soul You really think you're in control Well, I think you're crazy Well, I think you're crazy I think you're crazy Just like me Come on! Ever since I was little Ever since I was little it looked like fun And it's no coincidence I've come And I can die when I'm done Does that make me crazy? Maybe you're crazy Maybe we're crazy Probably.
CHEERING Come on! One more time for Beth and Steve! CHEERING Ricky? Who caught your eye out the two of them? I think they're both a little crazy.
And it's nice to inject a touch of madness into proceedings.
And I think they both did.
You know, in your blind performance, you were full-on.
And that's why we love you.
Steve, big personality.
Well done.
- Thank you.
- APPLAUSE That's one of my favourite songs, so thanks for that.
Steve, your take on it was unique and refreshing.
That could've easily have been like a James Bond song.
Pretty cool.
- Thank you.
- And Beth, like, if CeeLo never sung that song, that could be your song.
Oh, thank you.
Yep.
Pretty awesome.
APPLAUSE Do you know what, on paper, it's the most bonkers thing.
- When Paloma said to me, I'm putting these two together, I was like, OK - And it's called Crazy! No, no, no - I was just, like, Steve, I have to applaud you, because you could so have drowned in Beth.
Because she's an amazing soul singer.
And it could've been a car crash.
But somehow, with all your experience and your theatricality, you just injected something great into it.
Actually, it was a lovely moment.
It should've been a disaster! I was like, wow, I really loved that! So well done, guys, well done.
APPLAUSE It's strange, but they're really reflective, as a pairing, of the type of friends that I keep.
Like, I've got friends like Steve and I've got friends like Beth, and we're all exceptionally crazy.
And I thought it was, like, the perfect title and the perfect song for that situation.
Well, Paloma, as you know, all four steals have gone, so once you make your decision, there's no going back.
I feel floored.
It will be Beth.
APPLAUSE Congratulations! You continue to battle on into the knockouts.
Thank you, Paloma.
Thank you.
Wow, that was like a different person.
Congratulations.
Congratulations.
So Steve, it is the end of the road for you, as far as The Voice is concerned, but we've loved having you.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
It's been a wonderful experience, and I've loved meeting all of you Um in equal measure.
Look at me, - Will, when I'm talking to you.
- LAUGHTER That's better.
It may be late, but don't go tired on me now, baby.
- Come on.
- I'm looking.
That's better.
That's better.
That's one voice that you can't ignore, cos it's so deep! I sound like that when I wake up in the morning.
LAUGHTER You should hear ME in the morning, baby! You need a seismograph.
LAUGHTER Thank you all very much.
I'm going to go and see my friends and family.
Thank you so much.
Steve, everyone! Well done, sir.
Well done.
Well done.
I was going to ask my steal for you if there were any steals left, but there weren't.
If I had a steal, I would have stolen you.
- I'm a klepto like that.
- Beautiful.
That was a lovely way to end the day.
Have you had fun? Gorge.
Gorge.
It's been gorge! And what a show that was! After some very intense battles, the coaches now have their teams of just eight.
Hey, guys, can we make a request on how the crowd responds to you when you say their name? - Yeah? - Like when you say will.
i.
am, say, "Oh, yeah!" - OK, but I want one as well, then.
- What do you want? All we are saying LAUGHTER SHE CAWS Ricky, you're happy with a cheer? Yeah.
I love the cheers.
I'm an applause junkie.
After some very intense battles, the coaches now have their teams of just eight.
Yeah, but those eight must become three.
Join us next time at the knockouts, as the artists sing to survive into the live shows.
- But for now, please join us in thanking our incredible house band - David Tench and The Confidential Waste.
And of course, our awesome coaches - Ricky Wilson! Paloma Faith! THEY CAW Boy George! All we are saying And will.
i.
am.
Oh, yeah! See you next time.
- Goodnight.
- Goodnight.
Next week It's the knockouts.
Very excited.
Almost hyperventilating.
The coaches face heavy losses Five from every team will go home.
Oh! I hate my life.
So 20 people bounce.
- The big moment has come.
- Argh! and create their ultimate live show line-up.
I'm left with three.
It's the fight for survival.
Who's the first person you're taking through to the live shows?
