Blind Auditions 1

1 All right, check this out.
The Voice 2017 on ITV.
I've been to a lot of parties in my life, but this is a different type of party.
This is a search party.
How y'all doing? The mission is to find that superstar.
Yes! Come on! Woo-woo-woo! We have Jennifer Hudson.
She has, like, Grammys Oh, no! Oh, no! .
.
Oscars Oh, no.
.
.
BAFTAs.
Some people want it all I love that it's a blind audition.
Yes! Yes! It shows that it's solely about the voice.
We got Gavin Rossdale.
The Lord Wahoo! .
.
of rock-grunge.
I'm really competitive.
Once I get my team of ten singers, there's nothing that we won't do to win.
I've always wanted to be a rock singer.
I can help you.
Wait! Whoa! Things are getting heated.
Woo! To me, it's all about the voice.
You're on my team, baby.
Without the voice, we can't begin.
You're a very smooth person.
Thank you.
We have royalty in the mix coming from Wales.
Sir Tom Jones.
# Oh, what a thrill! Yes! Goodness gracious! Great balls of fire! I always look for something that excites me.
Yeah! When I hit that button, I'm committing to that person.
It's good to have him back.
Ain't that right, Tom? # X AMBASSADORS & JAMIE N COMMONS FEAT.
JAY Z: Into The Jungle I guess I have to introduce the other coach.

Ladies and gentlemen, our coaches! The question is: how do you follow that? Well, somebody is about to, because this is the start of the blind auditions.
I'm Jason Jones, I'm 31 and I work in a call centre.
Morning.
Hi.
I'm currently working for RAC, dealing with customers who are broke down on the motorway, etc.
Good morning.
You're through to Jason on the emergency line.
How can I help you? Our job is to get them back up and running as soon as we can.
What's the vehicle registration, please, sir? It is great, but the job can be a little bit repetitive.
How can I help you? How can I help you? How can I help you? It's call after call after call for the next eight hours.
My mind wanders to the audition, to The Voice.
I decided to start taking singing serious, probably three or four years ago.
I was attending a lot of karaokes and the people in the audience were giving me very good receptions.
So one day I thought, 'You know what? Let's do this!' When I first started gigging, I met my partner.
We have a little boy who's three months old.
Collette is a fantastic mother.
She's my soul mate and I love her very much.
My family means everything to me and I'm hoping to make them very proud today.
The ultimate goal is to be the next British big recording artist to represent the UK doing what I do.
If a coach was to turn for me today, it would give me the confidence within myself that, yeah, I was right to audition for The Voice.
Ladies and gentlemen, your superstar hopeful All right.
Woo-hoo! How are you feeling, Jennifer? I feel all right.
I'm just trying to figure out how to fit in this chair.
Sit up? It's a big chair.
It is.
Should I sit like this? I don't know.
Are you excited? Yes.
I can't wait.
I'm looking forward to it.
OK, guys, we are now recording.
Are you all ready? Ssh-ssh-ssh! # Climb onboard # We'll go slow # And high-tempo # Light and dark # We'll go hard to mellow # Seeing the pain, seeing the pleasure # Nobody but you, 'body but me # 'body but us together # I'd love to hold you close tonight # Tonight and always # I'd love to wake up next to you # So we'll recall the labour # In a place to lose your fear # The place to calm your tears # Yeah, reckless behaviour # A place that is so pure # So dirty and rough # Pillow talk # My enemy, my ally # Prisoners # Real slow and high-tempo # So we'll recall the labour # In a place to lose your fear # The place to calm your tears # Reckless behaviour # The place that is so pure # So dirty and raw # In the bed all day # Bed all day, bed all day # Lying there, fighting on # And it's a paradise # And it's a war zone # It's a paradise And it's a war zo-o-o-o-one Sing! Sing! Thank you.
Jason! There he is! Woo! What's your name? Where are you from? Erm .
.
I'm Jason Jones.
I'm 31 and I work in a call centre as a customer service advisor.
Get outta here! Wow! Are you helpful, when people call in? Sometimes.
You work at a call centre? Yes, I do.
I know inspiration when it's calling, and that's the reason why I turned.
Cos inspiration came knocking and calling on the phone.
I'm like, boo-ya! Hit that button real fast.
Then I'm like, holy-moly! He don't even look the way he sounds - Right.
People do say that.
.
.
which is freaking awesome! So I'm, like, I'm sitting on the top of the chair cos if you were on my team, we're going to the top of the mountain.
Will! Yes, we are.
Will! If this thing didn't have no back seat, I would've been like this.
Whoa! Yeah! We're going to the top of the mountain.
In a helicopter, cos I ain't walking.
I don't like flying, so How would you like to get there? I can get you there any way you like.
I just think you're so unique.
Your instrument is unique.
Thank you.
You're unique.
That's what the world needs, you know.
Something that's not like anything else.
Yeah.
And I appreciate that, I respect that and I welcome it.
Thank you.
Ha! Tell 'em! Thank you.
How's it going? Amazing.
Speechless, to be honest with you.
The first thing that I noticed, you sound different.
It makes it more human when somebody sings like that, like you do, because you're giving a lot of yourself.
You know, if you came with me, which I hope you will do .
.
I would try and help you as much as I could to get the soul that you have out.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
Because I think you have a wonderful voice.
Wow! I've got to say that you're like a rough diamond.
You can see that it's kind of early days for you, performance-wise, but I think you've got so much potential.
The fun thing, if you join my team, will be to find what really suits you the most and what really brings out the best in you.
I think you've got so much going for you.
Thank you so much.
I really appreciate that.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Great job.
Thank you.
Great job.
Now you get to choose.
Working out, bruv.
What are you doing? I'm working my biceps out so I can go out there and fight for you.
The coach that I would like to choose .
.
is Will.
Yeah! Dude! Thank you so much, mate.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Woo-hoo! Where's your family? My family Awesome.
All right.
See you later.
See you soon, mate.
It's probably one of the best things I've ever had in my life.
Amazing.
Hey! Hey! As soon as he opened his mouth, I got chills.
That's why we all had to turn around for it, like, OK, that's a voice.
Come here.
Are you all right? I'm really good.
How are you? I'm so happy that he's on Team Will, because Mr Jones, he's amazing.
Well done.
Thank you.
I'm so pleased for you.
I'm hoping will.
i.
am can take me to where I need to be.
No.
1 in the charts.
I got my first one! Yes.
OK.
It's crazy when you turn around, it's like, whoa! You sang that? Yeah.
He was freaking good though.
Yeah.
What are you looking to find? What we're all looking for is that singer that could turn into a star.
It's a record contract and you've got to get a hit record.
Jennifer is a great example, when she was on American Idol.
We love you, Jennifer.
I love you! OK, coaches, standing by.
Are you feeling nervous? I keep getting waves of nerves.
You can do this.
There's quite a good record deal as well.
Yes.
It is.
I wouldn't mind having a piece of that.
My name's Jenny Jones.
I'm 18 years old.
I'm from Chester and I'm a teaching assistant.
I do love my job.
The kids are very funny, it's just like being back at school again, not like a job.
I've been singing since I was about four.
I busk, I gig whenever I can.
I just never wanna stop doing it.
Jenny, you do know that we're really proud of you.
I just hope I don't disappoint you guys.
You won't.
You won't.
Well, she does sometimes make you cry, especially with the songs I like.
She always says, 'This one's for you, Nan.
' Ooh, I'm crying.
My heart's racing like mad.
Butterflies, all sorts.
Things are running through my mind.
Well, really, she's the only one of our family that has ever done anything like this.
Really special for us, you know.
I can't really believe we're here.
# Don't need permission, Made my decision # To test my limits # Cos it's my business, God as my witness # Start what I finish # All that you got, skin to skin # Oh, my God! Don't you stop, boy! # Something 'bout you # Makes me feel # Like a dangerous woman # Something about, something about # Something about # Nothing to prove and I'm bulletproof # And know what I'm doing # The way we're movin', like introducin' # Us to a new thing # All that you got # Skin to skin, oh, my God # Don't you stop, boy! # Something 'bout you # I feel like a dangerous woman # Something about # Something abo-o-o-o-o-out # I wanna do things # That I shouldn't Come on! # Something about, something about # All girls wanna be like that # Bad girls underneath like that # You know how I'm feelin' # Yeah, you know how I'm feelin' inside, baby # Like that # Bad girls underneath like that # You know how I'm feeling inside Something 'bout you That was close.
Very disappointed, but it's just the way it is, isn't it? You just can't miss the climax and she did not hit the climax.
If they're all that good, we're in trouble.
Aw! I'm proud of you.
Before, the chairs would turn round, then you'd have to explain why you didn't.
Yeah.
Was it better when you turned around? I think it's better like this.
If I was standing up there and the chairs didn't turn, I'd want to get out.
Right.
Maybe we can leave them a note.
I thought you was good.
I Taylor, Dane, I'm Emma.
Lovely to meet you.
Nice to meet you, Emma.
Welcome to The Voice.
I'm Taylor, I'm 20.
My name's Dane, I'm 25.
And we're in a band called Into The Ark.
Sha-boom! I think I was probably 14 when I met Dane.
I was performing in a charity event.
When he said that he liked my voice I loved your voice I said.
Thanks.
He said he loved it.
You remember.
His mam shouts, 'Why don't you go and sing with him, then?' So I was just like, 'All right, I will!' We ended up calling ourselves Into The Ark, not for any reason, we were just like two boys, folky acoustic soul.
Sounds cool.
When I told my mum, she was like, 'That's so clever!' I was like, 'How is that clever, Mam?' 'There's two of you.
Two by two.
' I was just like, 'That's genius, Mam!' We're stealing that.
We toured for almost two years.
Played chicken farms, churches Mm.
.
.
unis, anything.
We pack a bag for about two weeks' worth of clothes and sleep in the van or, if we're lucky and the gig is paid, we might treat ourselves to the Travelodge.
That's as glamorous as it gets.
Yeah.
You've been slogging and grafting and travelling and gigging.
Sleeping in the same, like, bag of clothes for months on end Yeah.
.
.
touring up and down the UK.
TMI.
I don't need to know that much.
Yeah.
'I haven't changed my pants in a week.
' We could get in the van and drive up and down the country for the next five years and still only be so far down the line to where we really wanna be: the prize being a record deal.
Smash it.
Whoosh! It's really exciting because The Voice could do that for us.
That's what I want, anyway.
Yeah.
Yeah.
# I said, 'Lord Almighty!' # I feel my temperature rising # Whoa, higher, higher # It's burning from my soul # And, girl, oh, girl # You're gonna set me on fire # My brain is flamin' # I don't know which way to go # Cos your kisses lift me higher # You're like the sweet sound of your choir # You light my morning sky # Oh, with burning love # Your burning love # Oh-oh-oh-oh! # Your kisses lift me higher # You're like the sweet sound of your choir # You light my morning sky # With burning love # With burning love # With burning Love What's you guys' name? I'm Dane.
I'm Taylor.
What's the name of your group? We're called Into The Ark.
Like Noah's and stuff? Exactly.
Because there's two of you? You got it.
Boom! You got it! That's very good.
And you guys are from? South Wales.
Right, so Tough pitch ahead of them.
Hopefully.
I didn't turn because my gut told me that you guys were from Wales and Tom's from Wales Burning Love, I mean, to take on that song, and to do it like you did is a very brave thing to do, for a start off.
You know, you didn't sing it like Elvis Presley, or didn't try to.
But I loved that.
I thought it was really something.
The harmonies were great and you are great.
I could get some great songs for you.
That all sounds good.
So, I would love you to be on my team.
We do have a Welsh connection, but I'm not gonna play that card.
Thank you so much.
Cheers.
Er I can't compete with him.
But, you guys, the soul touched me.
That tremble in that voice.
I have to turn around, cos I need to see where this is coming from.
He's been like that since he was 14.
Who's doing the high falsetto? So, the little one had the deepness? Oh, that's awesome.
Yes.
Well, we try.
'The little one.
' The song was great.
Everything.
Thank you so much.
Gavin's turn.
I've got to say, I love the sound of it.
It was so pleasing and it took me away and did everything that I want music to do.
I understand the journey you're on.
I know what it's like to be looking for that big break.
I think you guys have all the potential in the world and I'd love for you to be on my team.
Thanks so much.
God! Cheers.
So now it's your turn to choose.
I feel like Gavin had the best pitch so far, but .
.
since Yeah, yeah.
Well, our favourite artists are, like, Otis Redding, James Brown, that's what we'd like to do with ourselves as well.
I feel we're gonna have to battle each other now, to decide.
No, no.
Tom? OK.
Er I think we're gonna go with Tom.
Thanks so much, guys.
Oh, you Welsh! I hope it wasn't just the Welsh connection.
Not at all.
Thank you so much.
I might steal you.
I don't think so.
I've got you.
I'm going to keep you.
Yeah.
Another good one.
Yeah.
I knew they were gonna pick Tom.
Definitely second.
Right.
You almost had 'em though.
I made 'em think.
Your pitch was great.
I didn't expect three people to turn round, like.
I'm over the moon about that.
I feel like Tom had the best pitch, so Team Tom, Team Wales.
Team Tom.
Into The Ark, just listening to them and the way that they blend, I think we're going to have a great time.
I'm so glad that they're on my team.
Where you come from? Somebody better tell them not to come for me.
Turn back around! WOMAN: Hi, Will.
Hi.
Woo! 'Hi!' Where's your date? I could scoot over.
Wooo! Wow! Manchester is naugh-tay, naugh-tay, naugh-tay.
Hi.
My name's Diamond.
I'm 18 and I'm from Romford.
I live with my mum, my three sisters, my auntie and my little cousin.
Living in a big family is fun.
Actually, it's not fun.
It's not fun.
We're always dancing.
It's just laughter all around.
I work part-time at Romford McDonald's.
I sing in the drinks booth .
.
a lot.
People will be, like, poking their heads round.
Like, 'Who's that?' I attend church three days a week.
My church service is crazy, trust me.
I sing gospel music.
I'm so passionate about it.
# BEYONCE: Best Thing I Never Had This means everything to me, cos it's like the biggest thing that I've ever done.
This can change not even just my life, but people around me, so this is very important to me.
# Some people search for a fountain # That promises forever young # Some people need # Three dozen ro-o-o-oses # And that's the only way # To prove you love them # Hand me the world # On a silver platter # And what good would it be # With no-one to share # With no-one who truly cares # For me # Some people want it all # But I don't want nothing at all # If it ain't you, baby # If I ain't got you, baby # Some people want diamond rings # Some just want everything # But everything means nothing # If I ain't got you # Yeah # If I ain't got # If I ain't got you with me, baby If I ain't got you Don't come for me! Don't come for me! Yes! Where you come from? You turned around too? Somebody better tell them not to come for me.
Anyway 'Where you come from?' Where you come from? Turn back around! What's your name, babe? My name's Diamond.
I'm 18 and I work in McDonald's.
Do you sing in a drive-thru, like me? We don't have a drive-thru, but I sing, like, in the kitchen, like, when we make the drinks, the ice creams I worked at Burger King and I used to sing at a drive-thru window.
You work at McDonald's.
I used to work at Nando's.
And I used to sing as well No, he didn't.
.
.
as I would pluck the feathers off the chickens.
That is not true.
# Yeah, uh, plucking them wings! Uh! Plucking them wings! Plucking, plucking, plucking them wings None of anything he's talking about has to do with singing.
I'm just joking.
I didn't work at Nando's.
I told you.
But, to be honest with you .
.
if we were recording a song, I could coach you to record the best song in the world.
I'm not a vocal coach, I'm a vocal producer, so I'm telling you my limitations and then wherethen my expertise.
OK.
Are you done? Finished.
It seems as though in a show like this, and by me coming from a show like this, I learned that, when we're at this stage, you're just a soloist.
That does not mean you're an artist yet.
So what I would like to do is help you discover your artistry.
What you want your sound to be.
As I call for myself, I like to Jennifer-ise my songs.
And I think I would be best out of all the other people who turned around up here - and I don't know why they did - to help you with that.
I know what it's like to be on this side and the other side and what is required to remain on this side of the fence.
OK.
Not that I didn't like the way you sing, cos I love the way you sing, but I felt that you would go with Jennifer anyway.
Nothing against you, Gavin.
Oh, I'm feeling bad already.
No, no, no.
You sound like you're on the same wavelength, I think.
Go ahead, Gavin.
What you got? So I'll try my best.
Obviously, when I first heard you singing, the first thought is, 'What a beautiful, incredible voice you have.
' Right.
Thank you.
That goes without saying.
Second, I was thinking, 'Jennifer seems the most natural fit.
' But you've got to think outside the box and go in directions that maybe you're not directly comfortable with.
It would be so amazing to do something different.
Cos it's interesting, being inspired by people, but you've got to find a way for Diamond to come through out of that.
I accept I'm the long shot here, but that would be what I could offer you - something different.
Right.
I take that.
What do you feel you need work with vocally? I feel like there's a lot for me to learn.
Are you alto? Yeah.
I could tell that from the song.
I was like, 'I wish you would've picked another key.
' Can you just take it down just a half step? When you get to the Some people want it all You wanna be able to almost sound like the piano and hit that tone and not just clip it or barely make it.
You don't ever wanna have to Force it up! But # Want it all # I don't want nothing at all AUDIENCE: Woooo! # If it ain't you, baby If I ain't got you, baby You see what I'm saying? You see what I'm saying? As my grandmother used to call the stand, 'Flat foot and sing.
' You don't need no piano, you don't need no tune to let you know what key you're in.
Sometimes, you can feel if you're in the right key.
Again, that's just a little J-Hud demo.
I'm gonna sit on back down .
.
and sip my tea while you decide, OK? Wow! So who's gonna be your coach? Jennifer Hudson! No! I worked for that.
Wait, wait, wait, wait.
Wait.
Are you doing TV? You shouldn't even have to think.
What is wrong with you, child? What if J-Hud said, 'You took too long.
I don't wanna be your coach'? You got that.
Jennifer Hudson.
Yes! # JENNIFER HUDSON: One Night Only Get the diva moment out.
Swing this train, girl.
Swing that train.
Take your time.
Pick it up, cos we're divas.
We're divas.
Guys, aren't you excited for me? Thank you! She was exactly what I was looking for, so I had to go in, get that Diamond in shape and have it shining just so pretty.
I cannot wait.
WILL.
I.
AM: I got a good idea.
Maybe you should download The Voice app.
Here's a game you should play.
Play the I Want You Coach Game.
.
.
from the show and become The Voice Super Fan.
Unwrap this app now.
Put the ladder back.
I'm going to the top.
That's awful short.
You might get to the second floor, but, baby, I'm going to the rooftop.
Ha! # JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE: Can't Stop The Feeling I just wanna do it now.
Just get on and do it.
They're ready! Yes.
The energy! I've got this.
I can do this.
Yeah, you can do this.
It's just another gig.
And you've worked for it, darling.
You've worked for it.
You've worked for it.
I'm nervous for them.
Right now, it's like, 'Oh, my God! You waited for this moment!' So, I feel the anxiety right now.
Mm-hm.
I was fine until they said, 'Rachel, it's time to go.
' Now my body's having a mini-meltdown.
It's just so big.
It's so big.
My name's Rachel Rose, I'm 27 and I'm a waitress.
I've always loved to sing, ever since I was a little kid.
At the moment, I gig anywhere and everywhere I can.
There was one gig, there was nobody there, there was three bar staff.
It was just one of those moments, you walk away 'Please let something nice be round the corner, cos that would be lovely.
' I really, really hope that somebody puts their hand on the red button.
Actually, I'd quite like it if it was more powerful, cos then it'd be more passionate, like, 'Yes, we love her.
' # You're the light, you're the night # You're the colour of my blood # You're the cure, you're the pain # You're the only thing I wanna touch # I never knew that it could mean so much # So much # So love me like you do # Lo-o-o-ove me like you do # Love me like you do # Lo-o-o-ove me like you do # Touch me like you do # To-o-o-uch me like you do # What are you waiting for? # I'll let you set the pace # Cos I'm not thinking straight # My head's spinning around # I can't see clear no more # What are you waiting fo-o-o-o-or? Go for it! # Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh! # Love me like you do # Oh! Touch me like you do-o-o-o What are you waiting for? Thank you.
For me, she pushed too hard on it.
I think she tried to sell it too much.
Yeah.
That's what I was hearing.
I'm gutted.
I really thought I could do this.
That's gotta be tough to be singing your heart out.
Yeah.
Hoping someone turns around.
Mm-hm.
Oh! I was just so ready to move to the next step.
I don't wanna be a waitress any more.
Just Sorry.
That's tough when it's that close, because she clearly can sing unbelievably.
Yeah.
I just realised how much I hate disappointing people.
I know.
I've just gotta keep going.
WOMAN: Well, you don't know who's to come.
You know what I mean? I hear what you're saying.
It's like that really hidden magic I'm waiting for.
If I can get anyone of that stature and calibre to turn - Yeah.
.
.
it's going to make me feel like everything I've done to this point has been worth it.
All right.
Let's get ready for the next one.
Yes.
My name's Jamie Gray, 28 years old and I'm from Redcar in Teesside.
I just hope I can get a turn.
You will.
I always wanted to be a singer but, in my town, a lot of the lads - you either play football or you play rugby - so it was something that I was quite shy about.
So I did a degree in business.
Before I knew it, I was working in banking in London, central London.
It was never really my plan.
To be honest, I liked the job, but I just knew that it wasn't really what I wanted to do.
I was going home every night and just writing songs and I would pass buskers in the tube station in my suit and be like, 'I wish I was you.
' So, three years ago, I handed in my notice and left.
I just did it.
I've been doing music ever since.
Well, good luck.
My girlfriend - we've been together 13 years - she's super supportive.
I know you're gonna do absolutely amazing.
Thanks.
I know you will.
Yeah? You'll be great.
He's worked so hard for this, you know.
We've supported him through thick and thin.
I just want him to make it, desperately.
Everything's riding on this for me.
This is a chance that I've always wanted.
Just hoping I get a turn.

# BIRDY: Standing In The Way Of The Light WOMAN: What you doing? You guys are tough.
You were so good.
I loved his voice.
I loved him.
I liked him.
But I've got to be, like, transported away and, like, somewhere else.
I gave it my all.
It just wasn't enough.
If I don't get the chills, I'm not doing them a good service.
I You know and if you have indecision at this point, it means you shouldn't turn.
Yeah.
We are tough tonight.
Should we have turned our chairs around? Sometimes, you've just got to be a man about things and be, like, 'It's not for you, try something else if you're not good enough.
' I feel like probably today is that day for me.
What, with singing? Yeah.
You're standing in the way of the light We were all blown away by that.
You are the reason that I agreed to do this show.
You can't get into that chair and listen to people sing without being excited, can you? Of course.
Not knowing what they're gonna sound like, I get right into it.
Yeah, and that continues.
You never get comfortable with it or think, 'Ooh, I've got this,' cos you never know what's coming next.
That's the exciting part.
Which coach are you hoping is going to turn? Any of them, to be honest.
I like Tom, though.
Mother! My real full name is Truly Scrumptious Claire Ford-Ghatauray.
Truly Scrumptious.
My mum was delusional and she'd just watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and thought it was a good name, but it's a terrible name.
People sing Truly Scrumptious to me every day, basically.
I grew up in southeast London.
Currently at university doing song writing.
It's really fun.
I work as a waitress part-time.
I'm quite cheeky.
I'm always hiding in the kitchen, eating food.
I love waitressing.
This is for my manager.
I'm joking.
If today goes well, I can quit being a waitress and just follow my dreams.
This has been my dream since I was really young.
It's amazing to be sat at the stage.
Oh, I can't believe I'm doing it right now.
It's insane.
Aw! We have one, you've got zero.
It doesn't matter.
For the first session, we don't get team members.
We've got a few days.
I can only turn when I really feel it.
Yeah.
But for now, who knows what's gonna come? Yeah.
Come on.
Let's have a good one.
Let's do it.
I'm ready I have one opportunity to get this right.
I really, really hope that I do well.
I really wanna get through.

Oh, God! Oh! You didn't turn around, Will.
We're so sad I am sad.
Hi.
What's your name? My name's Truly.
Trudy? Truly? Truly Scrumptious, actually.
Truly Scrumptious? Mm-hm.
Is it? Yeah.
Your name is Truly Scrumptious? Yes.
You can blame my mother.
She is the one to ask about that.
Why is she called Truly Scrumptious? Cos I liked it.
Aw! What's your mom's name? My mom's name's Nicky Ford.
And how old are you? 22.
That's truly cool.
If I'd known your name's Truly Scrumptious and you didn't sing, I would've turned just off of your name.
Well, you're beautiful.
Thank you.
I didn't turn around because I'm like, 'That's not my element.
' Yeah.
I felt as though it was one of these gentlemen's element.
I didn't think it would be fair to you for me to turn.
Thank you.
I knew somebody would, that was for sure.
Yeah.
Your voice is really beautiful.
It has an incredible low register.
Then, when you kind of broke out and you kind of hit higher notes, I was thinking, 'Oh, great!' I thought you were fantastic.
Thank you.
So I'm happy to have turned round and hope that you can work with me.
Thank you so much.
I turned because I think you have a beautiful voice, a unique voice, and that's what got me.
I would love to have you on my team and I would like to be a part of the journey further on for you.
That's why I turned.
Thank you.
I think I've got to say Thank you very much.
One thing I've got to tell you, Truly, is that I think for voices to be great, they have to have a history to them.
You know, like an ancient history.
There's something about your voice that goes back.
Mm-hm.
Goes back and back and back.
That's what really made me turn.
I just think that you have so much to offer.
It would be such a thrill to have you on the team.
Thank you.
You're a very smooth person.
Thank you.
Did anybody ever tell you? From you From you, that's a lot.
Thank you.
AUDIENCE: Gavin! All right, all right.
Hang on! AUDIENCE: Tom! Tom! Tom! AUDIENCE: Gavin! Gavin! Gavin! Gavin! Gavin! OK, well, I did have someone in mind before I came.
Erm Gavin.
Oh, yeah! He looks very happy with himself.
Very happy with himself.
I got my first team member.
She will always be my number one.
What I liked about Truly was something really deep and meaningful .
.
and I really responded to that.
I feel amazing.
Gavin is the perfect match for me.
Whew! Congratulations.
You're in.
I'm in.
I thought I might be on the next train.
Gavin, he's a smooth operator.
I knew it was a losing battle.
Well, he's a handsome rock singer, you know, and that's a big challenge, to go up against somebody like that.
I'm not that young any more.
I don't know about the handsome part, but I'm not that young any more.
So, yes, he's He's There's competition there.
EMMA: It's And here's your chance to win a monster prize worth over .
.
courtesy of Warner Bros, to mark the upcoming cinema release of Kong: Skull Island.
Is that a monkey? You and three guests will stay four nights at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, London, and attend a special screening of the film this March.
Magnificent.
But that's not all.
You'll also receive .
.
tax-free cash and drive away in this Jeep Cherokee Longitude Plus with 17" alloy wheels and cruise control.
So, for your chance to win this amazing prize, just Mo and Max, welcome to The Voice.
Now, this is quite a unique situation as some people might be thinking you're a duo, but you're actually both auditioning individually.
Yeah.
And you're best mates.
Yeah.
And you live together, right? Yeah.
Yeah.
My name's Mo, I'm 21 and I live in Warrington.
I'm Max Vickers.
I'm 24.
I'm a barman from Warrington.
I live with my mate Mo and my girlfriend Sammy.
It's cushty.
It's nice.
There's always music going on here.
Like, it's pretty fun.
Some neighbours, like, actually, they enjoy our music.
Right, but then we have neighbours who just hate us.
I met Mo when I was doing the open mic.
He sang with me there.
When I first heard Mo properly - the guy's really good.
We had a moment where we could either be jealous of each other, or we were gonna get along well.
Thankfully, it was the latter.
Our friendship, like, it does matter a lot when times get difficult, I can always depend on Max to be there for me.
It's a nice feeling.
I didn't probably have the most stereotypical upbringing.
I grew up in care and you grow up faster.
Lived in quite a lot of different places, but I feel really blessed that I had so many people in my life who wanted to care for me and look after me.
From what Mo's been through in his life, erm, it's quite remarkable that he's come out such a stand-up person.
Incredibly strong character.
Growing up, I enjoyed listening to music.
It was filled with, like, so much hope and so much happiness.
Music kind of does feel like it is a parent.
The comfort of a mother and the motivation from a father.
I do see Max as family.
He supports me in everything that I do and I'll always support Max in everything he does.
From the moment that I met you, like, I saw how good you were and I think that you could go the whole way.
I just love expressing myself on stage.
I've tried art and acting and all that, but I think music and singing is the thing which has really got me.
Me and Mo being in the same competition, it's just perfect to be able to support each other.
I just think he's got to go out there and just enjoy it.
Every single time I've heard him, he delivers.
I do think he's got a unique voice.
I believe in him.
# When a man walks down a street he says # 'Why am I soft in the middle?' # 'Why am I soft in the middle?' # The rest of my life is so hard # I need a photo opportunity # And I want my shot at redemption # Don't want to end up a cartoon # In a cartoon graveyard # Bone digger, bone digger # Dogs in the moonlight # And I don't find this stuff amusing any more # If you'll be my bodyguard # I will be your long-lost pal # I can call you Betty # Betty, when you call me, you can call me Al # If you'll be my bodyguard # I will be your long-lost pal # I can call you Betty # Betty, when you call me # You can call me Al You can call me Al Yes! I'm so happy.
So happy for him.
Yes! Nice job.
Thank you.
Just! What's your name? Just! Why so late? I was with you all the way.
I was just waiting.
What's your name? I'm Max.
Where are you from? I'm from Warrington.
Nice.
I can say anything I want because you're gonna be on my team.
It's a shut down.
You can.
It's so cool.
But, I've got to say, I'll tell you what I liked about you, the tone you had was really interesting and different.
And all I'm looking for personally in hearing singers is people that are different and people that have a quality that sounds like no other people.
You sound like you.
You took a chance, so I thought I've got to take a chance.
I did.
Thank you so much, man.
Good job.
I left it too late.
I tried to listen to as much of the song as possible because I've sung that song myself.
Yeah? Yeah, it's not an easy song.
Yeah, it's not.
No, it's not.
Not for you as much, like, but But you did a hell of a job with it and I was almost there and then, by the time I did It was too late.
.
.
and this is the truth, I hit it too late.
But I thought it was tremendous.
It's all good.
Thank you though.
I appreciate that.
Nice one.
I hit the button, you know.
Did you? I did, but it was too late.
Love you, mate.
You'll smash it, mate.
You'll smash it.
Right, ladies and gentlemen, this, sadly, it's the last act.
No! Are you ready? Yeah.
Yeah, I feel ready.
My gut tells me - This is - .
.
the next one's gonna be the bomb.
At least a three-turner.
Let's see.
Potentially a four-turner.
Let's see.
I always knew that music was what I wanted to pursue.
When I do perform, like, it's when I'm most happiest.
Nothing in the past matters.
It's justit's about performing and being happy onstage.
It's about being able to have your own voice and be able to say, 'If things aren't right, speak out about it.
' Because music's kind of about being free.
# We are proud # Individuals # Living for the city # But the flame # Couldn't grow # Much higher # We find God # And religion # To paint us with salvation # But no-one # Oh, nobody # Can give you # The power # To rise # Over love # Over hate # Through this iron sky # That's fast becoming our minds # Over fear # And into freedom # You've just got to hold on Oh, you've got to hold on Woo! That's great! Feel it! Feel it! Have your moment! Have your moment! Oh, that was sick.
Wow! You know, Will predicted this, right? You did.
How you know? He predicted all of us was gonna turn around and that the last one was gonna be like a showstopper and you stopped the show.
Thank you.
Thank you.
What's your name? Where are you from? Erm, my name's Mo, I'm 21 and I'm from Warrington.
Wow! And how long have you been singing that like? When I was younger, I used to enjoy watching Disney films.
Me too.
And it kind of allowed me to love the music.
Yeah.
After that, I kind of just pursued it and it's what I want to do for the rest of my life, so I just want to take the opportunity.
I could tell you were very connected to that song, right.
What is it about that song that? Erm, for me, music's always been about expressing yourself.
Yes.
I feel that musicians today have more of an impact on the general public than politicians.
Cos, let's be honest, I've stopped believing in politicians at the moment.
I don't believe in them.
Wow! Well, you haven't stopped believing in music because you can sing.
You know what I mean? And you say How old are you? 21.
21.
21! But that's an old soul right there.
Yeah, exactly.
That's an old soul.
Well, I You know, we were all blown away by that.
Yes.
We've all turned and I would love to have you on my team because I think you're tremendous.
Thank you very much.
Thanks.
I've gotta tell you that you are the reason that I agreed to do this show.
And I was the first to turn because I believe in you the most and I need you the most.
Uh-uh.
So you should remember that when you're trying to pick between us.
Who's gonna believe in you the most? It would be an honour for any of us to have you.
Thank you.
Er You seem like a person who, like, has a philanthropic heart, whether it's music community or folksI know that.
I know that, my heart beats that.
I'm always asking questions on what's going on with the world.
So I think you being on my team, we could bear fruit .
.
and them sell them.
Erm, I feel you should come to my team because it sounds like we have quite a bit in common.
You were into Disney.
Did you ever work for Disney? Cos I did.
No, I was a massive fan, like, as a child.
You see? I kind of, at one point, I did wanna change my name to Mowgli, just because I kind of Now you can.
Close enough.
Close enough.
And then Have you ever auditioned for a reality show where you can stand on the stage and sing and maybe win it? You know, like, right now? Cos, guess what, child? I did that too! Also what What I love about you and it's yet another connection, you understand the power of music.
I love that you are a reminder of just how powerful music is.
So, that's another reason why I think you should come to my team.
Erm, I wasn't expecting this many people to turn round so, at the moment, I'm kind of looking at you guys.
It's like, 'Am I really here?' And, like, 'Are you really this close?' I can remember buying The Black Eyed Peas album when I was younger.
Woo! I was in a marching band.
We did the music from Dreamgirls so we, obviously, had to watch it back to front.
Your voice is exceptional.
Thank you.
Tom, well, just saying, 'Tom Jones', you And, Gavin, I think you're a fantastic artist, so it is really difficult for me to decide.
Erm Will! No! I understand what you're going through.
I think Er I'm gonna go on my gut instinct.
I'm gonna go for Jennifer.
Yes! Yes! Boy! Yay! Yee! You are amazing.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
I feel so good.
I am so excited.
I think I got the best one of the night.
Ha-ha! And we're good! And we're good! Thanks.
What was most powerful is that I could feel his energy without even seeing it.
Oh, mate! This is so weird, man.
I'm literally just in shock at the moment.
I'm literally just like Stunned, yeah? Yeah.
You've got a great one there.
He's so good.
Yeah.
GAVIN: Unbelievable.
And so unique-sounding too.
Unbelievable.
Passionate.
All of those things.
How much are you gonna take? How much am I gonna take? He wants to buy him.
Uh-uh! That's priceless.
No thank you.
