Van Helsing (2016) s02e04 Episode Script

A Home

1 Previously on Van Helsing I'm gonna try to turn you.
(cries out in pain) Mom? Mom! - What's up with you? - Stay back! - Okay.
- Just take these.
Hey, are you gonna take your lashes like a man this time, Felix? (whipping) Who is that? (sing-songy) I am Sam.
- Shoot him! - (gun shots) - Shit! In here! - No, it's a trap! - What is this? - Punishment.
Please don't I'll rip your nuts off, you pussy! (screaming) (sobbing) - (sizzling) - Mom! Dylan, Dylan.
(screaming) (slow, echoing music) you always hurt the ones you love and crush it til the petals fall, We always break the kindest heart, With a hasty word you can't recall, So if I broke your heart last night, It's because I love you most of all (fighting) (snarling) (fighting grunts) (fighting grunts) Spit it out.
What? Whatever it is you're too chicken shit to say.
Fine, but if you keep side-eyeing me we're gonna have a problem.
You're out of control.
Is that a fact? Yes, and you're gonna get us both killed.
We've killed more vampires this past week than that pathetic resistance has since the rising began.
I fail to see the problem.
It's a rampage.
It's a cleanse.
Anyway, I've barely gotten a scratch.
- What are you so worried about? - Against the ferals.
You and I both know there are stronger, more powerful vampires out there, and they're gunning for you.
Good, let 'em.
I heal, remember? Do you? What's that supposed to mean? You can't kill away the pain of Dylan's loss.
You don't know my pain.
I felt your pain.
When you screamed I could literally feel it coursing through my veins.
(groans) (spits) Feel better? A little bit, yeah.
(ragged breathing) (hissing) (ragged breathing) Cold? Hmm? Warm, hmm? Warm.
What do you want? I don't understand.
Touch? Connect.
You want me to connect.
(muffled yelling) (growling) (muffled banging, yelling) (growling) (growling) Shhh.
Shhh.
Okay.
Okay.
(whimpering) (snarling) I can't Aaaargh! (wheezy laughter) Gotcha! (wheezy laughter continues) Like this? Friends.
(wheezy laughter) We're lost.
We're not lost, we just don't know where we're going.
- Same difference.
- No, it's not.
I can't explain it.
Something is telling me we need to go in this direction.
Oh yeah, your dreams.
Vanessa and all that shit.
Axel! Axel, are you okay? Get the bag.
Why don't you just feed off of GET THE BAG! Are you sure? I'll kill you if you don't.
(screaming) (growling) (panting) Bleeding stopped? Yeah, finally.
That's good, then.
Don't worry about it.
I was always a little bit of a bleeder.
But you, you have one hell of a left.
Lucky it wasn't my right.
Yeah, I bet.
You hit harder than Max Bear.
Who? What, are you kidding me? Max Bear.
Back in my day, before I turned, he was the Heavyweight Champion of the World.
Back in your day, huh? When was that? 1936.
Jesus.
Yeah, but listen.
I fought him.
Slobber knocker back in 29, amateur fight before he turned, before he became Max Bear.
We were just (makes boxing sounds) I mean, we were kicking the living shit out of each other.
Back before he hit the big time and our faces were like, were like ground chuck.
Just (makes boxing sounds) And the crowd.
Oh my the crowd, they loved it.
And there we were, 15th round, we were so gassed we could barely keep our hands up, we're just swinging at air.
But then I hear it.
Ten second clang.
So I just charge in there and ready give everything I've got.
Then what happened? I got caught.
Right hook.
Bink! On the bud.
You know, if I had just played it safe for just 10 more seconds.
At least you went for it.
Yeah.
Yeah, but I was ahead on the score cards by two points.
I see you doing the same thing, Vanessa.
You're ahead on the score card.
Don't get caught by that right.
It's a cool story.
- Skinners.
We need to move, now.
- I don't run anymore.
(screeching sounds) Those aren't ferals, trust me.
We need to move, now.
- (grunt) - (thump) You dogs! You ugly dogs! Get over here! - Leave her alone! - Julius! Leave her! What re you gonna do, huh? Julius! Julius, wake up! Wake up! Julius! Julius! Hurry, get to the back! Here, take him! Take him! No, no, no, not me.
Not me! - No! No! - RYAN! Ryan!! Ryan! Don't you hurt him you son of a bitch! Ryan! Ryan! Please, stop.
Please, I'don't wanna die.
(sobbing) - Ten.
Was it? - (sobbing) No, please, no.
Arms.
ARMS! (sing-songy) Arms.
- (whip) - (sobbing) One.
Arms.
- (whip) - (sobbing) Two.
(sobbing) Arms.
- (whip) - (screams) Please, no more.
Please.
Please.
(whispers) No more.
(sobbing) Thank you.
Thank you.
(sobbing) (wheezy laughter) No! No! No! No! Please! - (sobbing) - (hissing) (drinking blood) I wanna learn.
I don't believe you.
Teach me.
Good.
Good boy.
Mohamad.
My Mohamad.
(wheezy laughter) Come on, do it! Come on, come on! Come on, you bastards! That's it.
That's it.
Come and take a piece.
Do it.
Do it.
Leave him alone, you piece of shit! (growling) Do it.
Come on! Julius! Yeah, yeah, come on.
Come on.
- (retching) - (Vanessa laughing) - You like that? - How's that? That's cause of me.
His blood is useless because of me.
That's it.
Take the bite, you bastard! Do it! Take a bite! (screaming) (screeching) Do it! (whispers) Go.
Get out of here.
Go.
- What? - Hello? Run! (snarling and growling) (snarling and growling) (snarling and growling) (arrows whistling) (groaning) (thump) (panting) You okay? What? She asked if you're okay.
Who are you? (cocks gun) We're the Johnsons.
The question is who are you? Woah, woah, woah, woah, hey.
Are you gonna be a friend or do we have to bury you along with the rest of these monsters? Alright then.
Friend it is.
They don't seem to bothered by the killing.
My partner and I have trained them well.
We found that the best way to survive out here is taking the fight to the vampires whenever they encroach upon our territory.
Catching them by surprise isn't that hard when you prey upon their weakness.
Young blood.
- That's disgusting.
- That's survival.
The second we start sheltering our future from their reality is the second we lose to those monsters.
Oh, hey.
Hold up.
I wouldn't move any further unless you wanna get an arrow in the eye.
(whistles) You're good.
Just watch your step there, big fella.
What is this place? Home.
You made it.
Hey, how are you doin'? Hey, Maria.
Over there we have a small greenhouse with food.
We each take turns on the bike generator in order to keep the batteries charged.
Some take less than others.
It's very impressive.
What it lacks in beauty we fill with love.
You ll have to forgive Chad.
At times he can be a bit of a cheese ball.
How long have you guys been here? Oh, about two years now.
Yeah.
Defenses? We fortified what we could.
At night we sleep underground.
And during the day all the kids have duties in order to keep us safe.
Child soldiers.
Got that part.
We made a decision a long time ago to stop running.
To live with love and not fear.
We teach these children how to survive but we also teach them to be children and have fun.
- You can't have both.
- Vanessa.
What? You take a child's innocence and it's gone forever.
Maybe.
But you do the best you can.
Loss is a part of the way it is now.
- And you can't hide from that.
- He s right.
When I lost my family I didn't think I could go on.
That's when I met Mike.
He gave me back the hope I had lost.
If you had told me five years ago that I'd be in a relationship with a man raising a litter of orphans in a forest I would have told you to get your head checked.
The heart knows no boundaries.
Now our goal is to take in any child we find and to give them the future we all thought lost.
That's pretty great.
- You can't catch me! - Ow.
Hey! I'm gonna get you, you rascals! What's your story? I kill vampires before they kill me.
What else is there to know? What's that? It's nothing.
Shouldn't you be playing with your friends or something? Nah, I don't like the games they play here.
Well, what do you like? Chess.
I'm working on a board.
I have a piece.
Here.
Me and my mom used to play it.
Before you know.
Yeah.
That must be tough.
It is, but I think my parents would want me to keep going.
So I do.
Time for dinner! - Yes! - See ya.
- Oh, hey.
Here.
- Oh.
What happened here? I'm not supposed to talk about it.
(kicks door open) (whimpering) (panting) Felix? - What re you doing here, traitor? - Quiet! We're getting out of here.
(door opens) (door closes) (sing-songy) Mohamad? ( sing-songy ) Mohamad? Hurry, Felix, get us out! (sing-songy) Ready or not, here I come.
Mohamad? Shit! (distant laughter) I can't.
Don't you leave us, Felix.
You can't leave us, Felix! Felix! You coward! ( sing-songy ) Mohamad! (hissing) (sing-songy) Naughty, naughty.
(whistling) (panting) (sizzling) (hissing) (growls) (sing-songy) Where is Mohamad? Where is Mohamad? I can't see Mohamad.
Oh, there he is! (sing-songy) Run, run, run, Mohamad.
Run, run, run, Mohamad.
Mohamad.
(sing-songy) Mohamad, Mohamad.
(whispering) Where's Mohamad? Are you there? Are you there? Are you there? Or are you there? I don't think that he's behind me.
No (snarling) (sing-songy) Caught me.
Caught me.
(sing-songy) You caught me.
You caught me (banging) - Come on, let s go.
- Where is that freak? I locked him in the basketball court.
Come on! I'don't know how long it'll last! Let s go! What? No, no, no No! (whimpering) Please! Come join us.
We're just about to get to the best part.
- This seat taken? - Go ahead.
Grendel, lurking outside the mead hall, was watching, waiting for all the guards to fall asleep because he knew that if he could catch the guards unprepared that no one and nothing would ever be able to stop him.
So he waited there for all to go silent.
He stormed the mead hall! Slashing! Slashing! Killing all the guards in his path! Popping their heads off like dandelions! But what Grendel didn't know was that there was another guard in the dark, a guard pretending to be asleep.
(snoring) (crowd laughs) He was the only one ready to take on Grendel.
This guard s name was Beowulf.
Beowulf saw the opportunity, went in for the attack.
Grendel felt something on his back! Grendel throwing Beowulf down to the ground! Beowulf getting up.
Grendel (snarling) The two back and forth, titans clashing, fighting each other for territory until finally, Beowulf grabbing the advantage, putting his hands on Grendel s neck, beginning to choke the breath out of this ghastly beast.
With his bare hands, with his cunning, saving the entire tribe.
More importantly, saving the whole kingdom! I am Beowulf! (cheering) True story.
True story.
It's yeah, it's a little more complicated than that.
Beowulf has to travel down to where Grendel underground Forget it.
Now, which one of you can tell me the moral of that story? Ethan? It's important for us all to be courageous, brave, and prepared when we fight evil.
That's exactly right.
When any one of us is on guard duty you must approach it with courageousness but we must also be prepared.
All of our lives depend on it.
- Do we understand? - (together) Yes! - Do we understand?! - (together) Yeah! Who s next? Huh.
You know, I never thought a place like this could exist.
You're not buying this place, are you? Come on, Vanessa.
Look around.
What's not to believe? There's this kid, Troy, okay? And he has these marks on his arms.
And cuts.
Uh, Vanessa? Can we have a chat? Your house, your rules.
Alright, well, I'm gonna hit the hay.
Um, look, I don't know another way to approach this besides being direct.
What's your deal? Excuse me? You've had a dark cloud over your head since you got here.
Now, that kind of negative energy can be contagious.
Especially around children.
I know what you did to Troy.
What are you talking about? The scars on his arms? The ones you told him to keep secret? (sighs) Troy had those scars on his arm when he got here.
Mmmhmm.
After he lost his parents he fell in with a very abusive group.
It's one of the reasons we took him in.
- So you didn't do it to him? - Of course not! We asked all the kids to try to leave the past in the past.
To focus on the positive future ahead.
Come with us tomorrow.
We're doing a supply swap with Troy's former group.
See for yourself.
All those kids sport wounds.
(whimpering) Be still.
Ah, finished.
My Mohamad.
No.
My Mohamad.
I'm Felix.
I'm Felix, you psycho.
Goddammit, I'm Felix! (muffled screaming) (whimpering) Shhh.
Shhh.
It's okay.
My Mohamad.
Shhh.
Don't cry.
My Mohamad.
My Mohamad.
(gasps) Alright, on the pile.
There you go.
Another nightmare? This one was different.
This Chad wanted me to tell you that they're leaving for the trade meeting.
- Still wanna go? - Yeah.
Yeah, I'll be right there.
Heyo, heyo! What's going on? They're late.
So we wait? - They're never late.
- (cocks gun) - Something's wrong.
- Then we should go find them.
We can't.
We have an agreement.
They don't cross the bridge without an invitation and neither do we.
Good thing I wasn't a part of that agreement.
Vanessa, stop.
Hold Wait.
Vanessa, stop.
You shouldn't do this.
Is she always like this? Yeah, pretty much.
This doesn't make sense.
The guards should be here.
Their main meeting hall is right there.
- Good.
- Hey, woah, woah, woah, wait.
This place could be overrun with those things.
Like you said, Mike.
Take the fight to them before they take it to you.
- Not much of a planner, huh? - She's a Van Helsing.
That's her plan.
Wait here.
Okay.
(coughs) What happened here? Oh my God.
- This wasn't ferals.
- (coughing) Oh my God.
No.
I know who did this.
Who? Get Mike.
Find any survivors and get out of here.
- What about you? What about you? - Don't worry about me.
This is something I should have ended when I had the chance.
(coughs) (indistinct singing) .
.
with a hasty word you can't recall, So if I broke your heart last night, It's because I love you most of all.
(hissing) Hello, Vanessa.
What a nice surprise.
