The Voice US (2011) s14e13 Episode Script

The Knockouts Premiere, Part 2

1 DALY: Tonight, it takes a champion Your falsetto is money.
to make a champion.
Here comes goodbye Yeah.
It's in there.
Bring it out.
Even when you're starting out, like, sell it.
Wow, this is why she won this show.
DALY: The highest-charting knockout performer ever, Chloe Kohanski.
Fresh off the release of his hit single, "Blue Blood Blues," Chris Blue.
The top-selling artist in "Voice" history, Jordan Smith.
And Grammy Award-nominated Cassadee Pope.
These past "Voice" winners Gonna let the music will help the teams create Move me around And I'm goin' around in circles DALY: some of the most memorable knockout performances Tell me somethin' good DALY: of the season Oh, oh Here comes the pain Yeah! You crushed that.
That was so incredible.
DALY: leaving one coach looking to save an artist Whoa! while our other coaches hope to steal.
What?! Two steals, one save.
This is about to get good.
Ah! The biggest round of knockouts yet continues right now.
KELLY: I am really stoked about my team.
I'm really happy with my team, too.
My team is powerful.
I'm excited.
Your team is powerful.
You two.
Literally.
Stop.
It's literally, like, my 1- and 3-year-old.
[Laughs.]
The mothers of of boys just understand that they will never change.
I will tell you, the boys are the more sensitive ones, and the girls are the feisty ones.
I feel like that's kind of similar to what's happening now.
[Laughs.]
Isn't it cute when they don't that they don't see our strength? Are you hiding it? You're guising it.
Yes.
There's claws underneath these hands.
I know that.
[Hisses.]
DALY: Let's look at Kelly's first pairing of the night.
KELLY: I paired Brynn and Jamella because they're very different from each other, but they kind of fit that vein of unique.
Here are my girls.
CASSADEE: Wow.
This is Cassadee Pope, Season 3 winner.
Hi.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my goodness.
It's such an inspiration seeing Cassadee, knowing that she was standing right here.
Hey.
Huge fan.
Thank you.
I came to one of your performances.
I think you were singing with Hunter Hayes.
It kind of shows me what my future could be.
So, what song are you singing? "Here Comes Goodbye" by Rascal Flatts.
Love.
Such a good song.
I love to change songs into what I, like, want to be.
That was my strategy on the show, too.
My main goal, which I think is kind of what you're saying, is to show people what kind of artist you're gonna be after the show.
I consider myself to be a soul artist, but I'm a huge country fan.
- All right, sing for us.
- Thank you.
BRYNN: This song is about saying goodbye to someone that you really cared about.
I'm only 14, and I haven't had a real sad goodbye, but storytelling through my music, that's something I've been trying to do since I was really little.
I would sit in my room, and I used to write poetry.
I always wanted to tell stories.
Through the short time that I've been here, I feel like my mind has gotten open to different genres and different techniques that I would never really try before.
This show has really made me become aware of who I am as an artist and how I can take things that may not be me, but turn them into something that I would put on an album.
Here comes goodbye I was completely blown away by Brynn.
In my arms She is pouring the heart and soul into the lyrics.
KELLY: Damn! Whoo! You are 14! Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
You are a born storyteller.
Yes.
[Laughs.]
Thank you.
You just took us on a journey.
I have one thing.
I have one thing.
It's, um Arms That big note, "arms.
" Yeah.
I just want to hear it with just a tiny bit of vibrato.
In my arms I just love the emotion of it, and, like, sometimes when we are emotional in straight tone, you're not pitchy, but sometimes we can go pitchy.
Mm.
That was my only fear, 'cause I don't want anything to stray from the perfection that's happening right now.
Yeah.
Every time Brynn opens her mouth, I'm floored.
I love that she's taking all these songs that are touching to her and putting a soulful approach on them.
Your pitch is really good.
Thank you.
The only thing that I heard, maybe work on just the last "goodbye.
" Yeah.
I was gonna say go higher with it Just the last thing.
Yeah.
and go pretty.
Yeah, your falsetto is money.
Here comes goodbye Here comes goodbye I was mind-blown.
She made everyone feel that.
I've been through so much to be here.
My mom was a single mom, and when I was younger, I wanted to act, I wanted to sing, and I wanted to dance.
We couldn't afford it, but she worked hard, and she was able to pull it off for me.
Mom, you've taught me so much.
I love you.
I love you.
JAMELLA: [Voice breaking.]
I can't even count the times that she's sacrificed for me to do what I love.
She was all by herself.
She didn't really have that help that she needed.
Watching her, I've gotten to learn how to be brave, and I put that into the work that I do now.
Working with Kelly, it's an opportunity I never thought I'd get, and I'm willing to do anything I can to stay here.
I got a girl crush Given my genre, pop/R&B I hate to admit it, but singing a country song is different Oh, girl! 'cause you're not expecting a girl in cargo pants and a body chain to get up there and wail some Little Big Town.
Girl crush Whoo! BRYNN: Jamella's voice is insane.
Her tone is so unique.
It's like, "Wow.
" Damn! She's throwing stuff.
I CASSADEE: You h-have her throwing things.
You are a dark horse.
Yeah, man.
CASSADEE: This song choice is really bold.
That song stands on its own.
It transcends genres, and I think what she did with it was really special.
There's this one part.
Okay.
Um, there's a trick.
'Cause you're going up.
Everything That thing.
Yeah.
Always put an "H" on it.
Yes.
H-every I was thinking the same thing.
It's gonna help every time.
Okay.
'Cause what you're doing is you're pushing the air.
Yeah.
And that means you have enough air to stay on key.
'Cause that's when we go flat, when we don't have air.
I always get in my head.
I'm my biggest critic.
Yeah.
That's good.
Well, I was gonna say, even though the the high stuff, like, when you're gonna be comfortable, you're gonna hit that really well.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Always make sure there's big notes in there 'cause you're not making a record.
You're trying to make it to the next show on a com in a competition.
Yeah.
You know? People aren't listening to the radio being like, "Okay, when is she gonna do it? When is she gonna do it?" They're just listening to a great song.
Yeah.
But on a competition, they want to know why you should advance.
Yeah.
Exactly.
KELLY: She's cleverly showing a little bit more each time, which is very smart for a strategy.
All right, y'all have a good day.
This one's gonna be really tough.
Maybe I'll use my save on this one.
I don't know.
[Cheers and applause.]
Get 'em started.
[Cheers and applause.]
Whoo! With "Here Comes Goodbye," here is Brynn Cartelli.
[Cheers and applause.]
Ooh, ooh-ooh, mm I can hear the truck tires Comin' up the gravel road But it's not like him to drive that slow When nothing's on the radio Footsteps on the front porch I hear my doorbell He usually comes right in Yes, girl.
Now I can tell Here comes goodbye Here comes the last time Here comes me wishing things Would never change He was right here in my arms Tonight But here comes goodbye Why'd it have to go from good to gone? Whoa Here comes goodbye Here comes the last time Here comes the start of every sleepless night The first of every tear I'm gonna cry Yes! Here comes the pain Here comes me wishing things Would never change He was right here in my arms Tonight But here comes Goodbye [Cheers and applause.]
Yeah! DALY: Still to come I got an elastic heart DALY: the artists give it their all Will it go 'round in circles? DALY: for a spot in the live playoffs.
Holy crap.
- That moved me.
- Literally out of her seat.
There's this wonderful brewing beast in both of you that everybody is witnessing.
They're gonna start throwing bras and stuff.
DALY: And later That is a save! Whoa! Now we got a steal! Unh-unh! What?! We got another steal! This is "The Voice" DALY: Welcome back.
[Cheers and applause.]
Now singing "Girl Crush," here's Jamella.
[Cheers and applause.]
Ooh, ooh I got a girl crush KELLY: Yeah.
Hate to admit it, but I got a heart rush Ain't slowin' down I got it real bad Want everything she has That smile and the midnight laugh She's giving you now I wanna taste her lips Yeah, 'cause they taste like you I wanna drown myself In a bottle of her perfume I want her long blonde hair I want her magic touch Yeah, 'cause maybe then You'd want me just as much I got a girl crush I got a girl crush Hate to admit it, but I got a heart rush Ain't slowin' down Thank you.
[Cheers and applause.]
Yeah! My goodness.
ALICIA: Two beautiful performances.
Jamella, you know, you really have a style about you.
You have a flow.
You have a vibe.
I think it's really cool.
I think you did a great job.
[Cheers and applause.]
And, Brynn, you just continue to impress.
Being 14, you have a maturity that's way beyond your years.
Thank you.
Really beautiful job, both of you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
It's so funny, Brynn.
You know how good you were just now, because when she said 14, you heard everybody, like [Whispering frantically.]
[Laughter.]
And even if you were 30.
To be that good at that age is is remarkable.
Yeah.
Thank you.
Um, Jamella, it's a really tough one.
I'd have to go with Brynn just because when she sings, it's kind of like game over for me.
But you guys are both awesome and amazing, and you both did a great job.
Thank you.
Interesting song choices.
Uh Oh, my God.
You're creepy.
Am I creepy for saying that? Sometimes you're like the uncle.
Is Is that creepy? Yeah.
Interesting.
[Chuckles creepily.]
That weird uncle at Christmas.
[Laughter.]
[Chuckling continues.]
You okay over there? Jamella, you took that song and definitely put your spin on it, you know, which is notable and Thank you.
[Cheers and applause.]
And, Brynn, the vibrato of your voice is just one of my favorite things I've heard this season.
It's awesome.
Thank you, Blake.
Thank you.
DALY: Thank you, Coaches.
Nice job, ladies.
Kelly, it all comes down to you.
Before you pick a winner, what'd you think? KELLY: Jamella, man, you really do bring, like, more and more "A" game.
From the blinds to now, like, you have an emotional connection that you cannot teach people when they're singing.
And, Brynn, I was so excited by the song choice.
Even to attack a song with his vocal is just insane.
You both did a great job.
Tough one, Coach Kelly.
Who's the winner of this knockout? [Hums.]
The winner of this knockout is Brynn.
Brynn, congratulations.
You're moving on, advancing to the live playoffs.
KELLY: Brynn, she has something really strong and super unique.
I love you.
Brynn will be the youngest person ever to win this show.
I didn't say could.
I said will.
Yay! Congratulations! Thank you.
So grateful for Kelly for taking a chance with Brynn.
I know she's the youngest one at 14, but, uh, she's special.
Parent goggles.
They always think their child's good.
But now that Kelly thinks I'm good, now I'm okay with him saying it sounds good.
[Chuckles.]
DALY: Coaches, let me remind you, Jamella is available to steal.
Jamella, anything you'd like to say to your coach? You are the most down to earth and true person, and you've really molded me, and I've grown since I've been here, and I really appreciate you guys.
Give it up for Jamella, ladies and gentlemen.
[Cheers and applause.]
BLAKE: Brynn versus Jamella I loved that knockout.
But I only have one steal, and I'm being very picky with it.
That's the worst part, sending people home.
It is.
This is "The Voice" DALY: Welcome back to the knockouts at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Let's check in with Team Blake.
BLAKE: I paired Jaron and Pryor together because these guys are solid performers.
They have tons of stage presence and charisma.
- Hi.
- Hey! - Hey, hey! - That's awesome.
I was really pumped when I saw Chloe, the winner of Season 13.
My girlfriend's parents are gonna go nuts.
- Are they really? - They're, like, addicted.
- Wow.
- She's been in my shoes.
She's walked these footsteps.
So, what song are you singing? I picked "Grenade" 'cause Bruno Mars is right in my wheelhouse.
That's an artist that you kind of relate to? He's an idol to me.
This is a big song.
It'll be important for you to have your version of this song.
Yeah.
I want to be an artist that creates music to be timeless, and I feel like this is one of those songs.
My grandpa, Larry, he introduced me to Motown music, and something about that music just lit a fire in me that I'd never felt before.
I knew that I had the ability to sing as a kid, and my parents sang together doing Christian music, but I just didn't dive into it until I was about 18, 19 years old in college.
I was doing shows with my band, mostly cover gigs and weddings, and still didn't get that big break.
[Cheers and applause.]
This show giving me a chance is like a moment for me to sing the song and let it pour out, like, how hard I've been working towards this industry.
And this is my moment.
Gave you all I had and you tossed it in the trash Tossed it in the trash, yes, you did Jaron wants to be a pop singer, but he's also a very soulful guy.
He's just got that cool factor when he gets onstage.
You can't help but like that guy.
Throw my hand on a blade for ya Jaron definitely has stage charisma and movement.
He knows exactly what he wants to do as an artist.
But you won't do the same - I like him.
- Yeah.
Whew.
In the start of the song, you did, "Easy [breathless.]
come, easy [breathless.]
go.
" It seems like it turned into breath.
Make sure that the note is in the lyric, you know? CHLOE: Also, I don't know if this is your style, but, like, even intentionally, like, starting out and just like Easy come, easy go - Feel it from the heart.
- Wow.
This is why she won this show.
All right.
And And one other vocal thing is, some of your scoops take a minute to get up to pitch.
You mean, like, when I'm going Catch a grena-a-de - Exactly.
- Right there? This is the knockout round.
Exactly.
Have you ever seen what this guy does? It's unbelievable.
Got me nervous, I'll tell you that.
Yeah.
So, bring us the Pryor.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- [Chuckling.]
The Pryor.
What song are you gonna be doing? Billy Preston's "Will It Go Round in Circles.
" Oh, I'm so excited.
- Yeah.
Let's hear it.
- Let's do it.
Dude, just your speaking voice is so cool.
So sick.
Well, I've got a song, ain't got no melody I'm a soulful, bluesy rock singer.
This song definitely embodies who I am as an artist.
My musical career was all done by myself and my band in a pickup truck going across the country.
Doing five nights a week for years and years, you get to a point, it's, like, you need to have a big-boy job.
So, I put my musical career on hold.
Being here on "The Voice," it's a great feeling to have music back and it not be such a pipe dream anymore.
Be like, "You know what? I really could do this.
" Will it go round in circles? BLAKE: I'm so glad he chose this song because it shows me the direction he wants to go as an artist.
It's a song that he can show how strong he is as a vocalist and play some cool stuff on the guitar and then do that Pryor thing that draws you in.
I was in a bar just then.
Whoa! That one you just held literally, like, I was on the edge of my seat.
Wow.
That's great to hear.
Thank you.
Get up on the mic a little bit more just for the sake of, I want to hear it.
Okay.
Also, start with the lower melody of the verse.
I've got a song, ain't got no melody On a show like "The Voice," people are always looking for that moment.
Okay.
So, if you come in low, and then, it's like "wow" on the second one, they're gonna be like, "Oh, my God.
" You know what I mean? Did she just say, [high-pitched.]
"Oh, my God?" She did, didn't she? - She did.
- Okay.
PRYOR: Getting advice from Chloe, it's invaluable.
She's looking back at you being like, "I know what you're going through.
I understand.
I get it.
I was there.
" It's not really about who's gonna win.
Yeah, feeling it.
It's just make both of yourselves extremely desirable.
BLAKE: This is gonna come down to whoever owns the stage and really puts their best foot forward and gets the audience going.
[Cheers and applause.]
Now singing "Will It Go Round in Circles," here's Pryor Baird.
Well, I've got a song, ain't got no melody I'ma gonna sing it to my friends I've got a song, ain't got no melody I'ma gonna sing it to my friends Will it go round in circles? Ha, ha! Or will it fly high like a bird up in the sky? Will it go round in circles? Yeah, yeah Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky? All right, here we go! Yeah I've got a dance, ain't got no steps I'm gonna let the music move me around Well, I've got a dance, ain't got no steps, yeah All right.
All right.
I'm gonna let the music move me around Will it go round in circles? Yeah Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky? Yeah Come on! Will it go round in circles, baby? Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky? Now, let me tell ya somethin' Well, I've got a friend, ain't got no melody Ooh I'ma gonna sing it to my friends Will it go round in circles? Yeah Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky? Yeah Will it go round in circles, baby? Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky? Come on.
Ba, ba, ba, ba, ba-da, ba Ba, ba, ba, ba, yeah, yeah Yeah [Cheers and applause.]
Yeah.
- Yes - Ow! [Laughs.]
They're gonna, like, start throwing, like, bras and stuff or something.
[Laughs.]
This is The Voice DALY: Welcome back.
Singing "Grenade," here's Jaron Strom.
[Cheers and applause.]
Easy come, easy go That's just how you live, oh Take, take, take it all But you never give Should've known you was trouble from the first kiss Had your eyes wide open Why were they open? Gave you all I had and you tossed it in the trash Tossed it in the trash, yes, you did To give me all your love is all I ever asked 'Cause what you don't understand is I'd catch a grenade for ya Yeah, yeah Throw my hand on a blade for ya Yeah, yeah I'd jump in front of a train for you, baby You know I'd do anything See, I would go through all this pain Take a bullet straight through my brain Yes, I would die for you, baby But you won't do the same [Cheers and applause.]
Pryor, I love your tone.
I grew up loving Janis Joplin, and it's just that rough, tell a story, you-can't-hold-back kind of tone.
Jaron, you kind of had this growl the whole time, too, which was very fitting for the message.
It's called "Grenade.
" I dig you, as well.
[Cheers and applause.]
ALICIA: Pryor, I was just super impressed that your range was that diverse.
I like that you were in it.
You know, you're talking.
"Come on.
Let me show you.
Let's get it.
" That's cool to embody that energy.
And then, Jaron, maybe you were more concerned with getting the crowd into you than really, like, delivering this song.
But your energy is infectious, and your tone is really special.
I appreciate it.
Jaron, when someone comes up here and does Bruno, or even Adele, there's a character that's attached to them, and sometimes, it's really tough to get away from that.
You're both talented.
I think Pryor is just more ready.
I'd go with Pryor.
DALY: Thank you, Coaches.
Blake, it all comes down to you, buddy.
Give us some thoughts.
Jaron, you like to move around onstage, but sometimes, it almost feels like you're just trying to release some nervous energy through the movement, when, maybe, that should come out vocally.
And then, Pryor, I know it's hard for you not to just start at the top of your range and go all the way through the song.
You know, in our rehearsals, it was like, "Do you think you could dial it back, and then, you know, ramp it up throughout the song," you know? It makes it more impressive.
Yeah, and it really paid off, I think, this time.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Blake, who's the winner of this knockout? I This I h I hate this part of my job, guys.
The winner of this knockout is Pryor.
Pryor, congratulations.
You are advancing to the live playoffs.
ADAM: Pryor's definitely a potential finalist.
He's ridiculous.
PRYOR: I'm extremely grateful, still, to be here.
The fact that Blake's still my coach, that's something you can't buy.
I'm going to the live playoffs! Was that loud in your ear? DALY: Coaches, let me remind you, Jaron is available to steal.
Jaron, anything you'd like to say to your coach? This is a dream come true being here, you believing in me, you giving me a chance.
It's the most amazing moment of my life.
- Keep going, man.
- Thank you, guys.
Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Jaron Strom! BLAKE: I love Jaron.
I think he's a great singer, but there's just no denying it Pryor is one of the front-runners in the competition, in my opinion.
I'ma gonna sing it to my friends DALY: Stream the full versions of tonight's winning knockout songs only on Apple Music or buy them on iTunes.
Here comes the pain This Is The Voice.
DALY: Welcome back to the knockouts.
You know what? Your heels are too high.
How about that? ALICIA: Looks good on you, though.
I like it.
I ain't fooling with you today, man.
I ain't fooling with you today, man.
[Laughs.]
I paired Christiana and Terrence because they're both distinctly unique artists, and I think they have their own interpretations of how music sounds.
I brought Chris Blue to meet y'all.
CHRISTIANA: When I saw Chris Blue, I almost fell apart because I just love him so much! I watched Season 12, and I was obsessed the entire time.
And so, the fact that I got to meet him today was pretty cool.
So, tell me about what you're singing.
I'm singing "Elastic Heart" by Sia.
Sia's pretty magnificent.
This is my first time singing anything apart from, like, worship.
And it's a really emotional song, and I think it's just a song about, like, resiliency, 'cause I've had my fair share of, like, battles.
For me, this song is about being strong through tough situations.
In my senior year of high school, I caught a throat infection, and I had emergency surgery.
And they said, "She's not gonna be able to sing again.
" And when I heard that, that's when I realized how important music is to me.
I know when that hotline bling You just brought, like, Ella Fitzgerald in with you through Drake.
CHRISTIANA: With each round, I definitely feel myself growing.
You're gonna explore a little bit more jazzy influence.
Yeah.
Working with Alicia, she's challenging me to really find the true essence of who I am as an artist.
Yeah.
I'm allowing myself to express in ways that I've always just bottled up.
So, I'm excited.
I got an elastic heart ALICIA: "Elastic Heart" is really cool for Christiana because this is her first time not singing worship music, which I never would've guessed.
And I think this has given her an opportunity to discover who she is as an artist.
That was pretty special.
When you started off the song, there was hesitation and reserve, but the more you sang it, the more comfortable and relaxed you got.
And that was one of the things that I struggled with a lot - on this stage.
- Mm.
And so, that's what I want to share with you.
It's just a stage.
It's just a microphone.
This is what you do.
Just go there, man.
You have this ability to re-interpret songs.
Say, "You know what? I got a little Anita Baker in me.
I got a little Ella Fitzgerald in me.
I also got a little bit of Drake in me.
" [Laughs.]
All right, think about how it applies to this song, as well.
Okay.
You won't see me fallin' apart I really felt like chocolate under a hot lamp.
[Laughs.]
Elastic, elastic She has a way of sucking you in to every single word.
Oh, my God.
I just became so emotional.
- I was so wrapped up in that.
- Wow.
So, if that was you exploring more, I say yes, yes, yes, and yes.
Christiana has every chance of winning this entire competition.
She sets the bar insanely high.
Having a child at 16, you automatically make that the most priority in your life.
I didn't move to Los Angeles until my daughter graduated high school, to pursue this thing called music on a grander scale.
On a cloudy day When I saw the light, my life just changed.
I said, "I made it.
" ALICIA: If I ever did anything right, it was come to this show only to meet you.
Tell me somethin' good Up till now, I was singing kind of smooth songs, but this one is gritty and I get to scream and showcase my range.
Somethin' good Growing up, my father and I would have jam sessions, and this is one of the songs I learned hanging with my dad.
So, this song is, in some way, paying homage to him.
Ohh ALICIA: He has this beautiful, mysterious, ethereal style Yeah ALICIA: that is unique to him.
And now Terrence needs to continue to show us who he is and evolve.
This is, like, one of the world's most sexiest songs ever.
Ah.
Like, this person is actually telling this person "What I got is going to, like, set you on fire.
" Like, "I am going to make you need me so bad.
" Yeah.
Right, right, right.
So, you have to exude that now.
It's time to, like, turn up the fire.
I just want to explore what happens when you push a little bit more.
That fortitude and that, you know, tenacity is something that I could work on a lot.
Do you feel like you're holding back, vocally? Maybe.
I have a tendency to willfully be in the background.
I could use a little more of you.
Okay.
It's my time now, and I keep telling myself in the mirror, like, "It's you, bro.
You got to do it," you know? So, I'm working on it.
I promise I'm working on it.
When I was on this stage, I realized that that nice guy, if I was gonna have a chance, that that cat had to go.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And she pushed me.
And so, if it's in there, bring it out.
ALICIA: And you'll get a chance to show your daughter that you got to work for what you want.
True.
I'm asking him to show us, "Who is fired-up Terrence?" Ready to come out here with all those gifts that he possesses and stop playing around.
Tell me that you like it Watching Terrence perform, he's going all the way up here, and bringing it all the way down to here, and I'm just like, "Wow.
" Tell me something good It inspires me to go out there and be just as bold.
ALICIA: Beautiful.
This is exciting.
Both of you have some digging to do, in regards to your artistry, and expanding it and being unafraid of it.
CHRIS: Pleasure.
Christiana versus Terrence is gonna be a knockout, drag-out, crazy, like Aah! Thank you, guys.
- See you, guys.
- I can't wait to watch it.
I-I don't know who's gonna win.
Whoo! Singing "Elastic Heart," here's Christiana Danielle.
[Cheers and applause.]
And another one bites the dust Oh, why can I not conquer love? And I might have thought that we were one Wanted to fight this war without weapons And I wanted it, I wanted it bad But there were so many red flags Now another one bites the dust Yeah, let's be clear, I trust no one You did not break me I'm still fighting for peace I've got thick skin and an elastic heart But your blade, it might be too sharp I'm like a rubber band until you pull too hard Yeah, I may snap, and I move fast But you won't see me fall apart No, no, no, no No, no, no, no, no 'Cause I got an elastic heart I've got thick skin and an elastic heart But your blade might be too sharp I'm like a rubber band until you pull too hard Oh, you won't see me fallin' apart No, no, no, no, no 'Cause I've got an elastic Elastic, elastic, elastic heart I got an elastic heart [Cheers and applause.]
[Laughs.]
Come on, Terrence! DALY: Coming up, Terrence brings down the house.
Ohhh, ohhh - What? - There's no winner here.
- Oh! - What?! DALY: Two steals, one save! - Yes! - [Laughs.]
Absolutely not! This is The Voice DALY: Welcome back to the knockouts.
Now, with "Tell Me Something Good," here's Terrence Cunningham.
Come on, Terrence! Come on, Terrence! Yeah! You ain't got no type of feelin' inside But I've got somethin' That'll sure 'nuff set your stuff on fire And you refuse to put anything before your pride Come on.

I can't believe what just happened.
Come on, boy! Ay-yi-yi-yi-yi! Love y'all! Yoo-hoo! Okay, so much to talk about.
Holy crap.
I'm just gonna start with you, Christiana, 'cause you're prettier.
No offense.
[Laughter.]
These are the facts.
Christiana, post blind auditions, you have been great, but I still think there's more, and I think that you're gonna find your way and be, really, one of the best.
- You're fantastic.
- Yes.
Christiana! And then, Terrence, I can't even believe what was going on with that upper register.
[Laughs.]
Yo, those high notes Okay, Kelly, you'll have your turn.
Shh! I can't.
[Laughter.]
You were so off the charts.
- This decision is terrible.
- Ugh.
And I'm super pumped that I don't have to make it.
[Laughter.]
Terrence, I had, like, total church giggles.
- Like, I couldn't even - She couldn't even breathe.
- Thank you.
- It was the perfect song, the perfect style like, how you did it, where you took it.
That moved me, and it was good.
Literally up out of her seat.
- Thank you.
- Christiana, you're insane.
Like, I remember in the blinds I had no chance, but I turned around.
Whatever.
[Laughter.]
The intensity in your eyes, it's it's so captivating.
And honestly, I think you're both equally talented.
[Cheers and applause.]
Christiana, I'm a fan of yours.
I will say I-I feel like it was a little bit more of a challenge for you in the in the first verse, and I think the difference, you know, Terrence put together a performance with all the big stuff and, in the beginning, did all that incredible jazzy stuff.
Terrence, you're pretty good.
Oh, thank you.
I got to say.
[Applause.]
DALY: Thank you, Coaches.
Alicia, before we find out the winner, what did you think of the performances? ALICIA: Christiana, you are so special.
When you first shared with me why you chose this song, you also shared with me that, before this show, you hadn't sung anything but worship songs, which is pretty shocking to me.
I wouldn't have thought that.
And that you specifically did it to express a part of your story, 'cause I think that's what artists do.
Congratulations.
Thank you.
[Applause.]
And then, Terrence, note this is the original Chaka Khan key.
Oh, I know.
Ohh, oh Which, if anybody knows Chaka Khan That's high.
That's high.
That's for a girl.
Chaka Khan is no joke! I get it.
You crushed that.
I know I'd be up there struggling, so there's this wonderful brewing beast in both of you that everybody is witnessing right now.
The time has come, Alicia.
Who is the winner of this knockout? You both are magnificent.
I'm so excited to help cultivate artists on this show like, real, genuine, bona fide, beautiful, artistic beings.
The winner of this knockout is Terrence.
DALY: Terrence, congratulations.
You are advancing to the live playoffs.
TERRENCE: I'm super excited to go to the live shows.
I'm so hyped.
I may not look it, but inside, I'm just, like, screaming.
DALY: Coaches, let me remind you, Christiana is available to save or steal.
Whoa! That is a save! I can't wait! Alicia Keys uses her one and only save for Christiana.
There's no winner here.
DALY: Whoa! And now we got a steal! [Laughs.]
Kelly Clarkson's trying to steal Christiana.
Unh-unh! That's cold-blooded.
Maybe there is a winner here.
I mean, she didn't pick you! No.
No.
I'm not finished.
We have a save, a possible, perhaps, - loyalty play for Christiana to stay - It's about to get good.
with her original coach.
Perhaps, you want to be the first choice.
- I don't know.
- Oh, no, no, no, no.
Or you could switch teams now to Kelly Clarkson.
- No.
- I'm just kidding.
- I'm just kidding.
- Boo! I mean, she did make a decision.
She did make a decision.
Kelly, why do you want to steal Christiana? All right.
Go ahead.
I've loved you since the blinds, so I think that you're incredible.
I grew up in church, too.
That's all I sang growing up, was gospel music.
I think how much fun it would be to experience new songs with you.
And I get why you'd pick her.
Y-You're both incredible artists.
Creepy - Um, but I'm just saying - Man, shut up.
- Oh! - What?! [Blake laughs.]
DALY: We got another steal! Adam Levine trying to steal Christiana! Two steals, one save.
No! Absolutely not! I just want to finish.
There's no question that your voice is amazing.
No, no, no, no.
I'm just gonna right here.
I'm just watching.
This is about to get good.
DALY: Let's go to Adam Levine.
He gets one steal in the knockouts.
He just used it for Christiana.
[Laughter.]
Um, do you see what I take on a daily basis? - Aw.
- It takes thick skin.
- You deserve it, baby.
- Tear.
I had to press so that you knew I think you're incredibly talented.
You deserve all three of us to be turned around.
- That's right.
- So, respect.
I love you.
- Thank you.
- Kelly, I love you, too.
Coach Alicia.
It would be devastating for me to lose you.
This was my glory moment because I could get both of my favorite beautiful artists that are on my team.
And so, please stay.
Christiana, you can go back home or you can try a new team.
Home, home, home, home, home, home.
The choice is yours.
Who do you pick as your coach? [Audience shouting.]
I pick Alicia.
Ah! DALY: Alicia saves Christiana Danielle! ALICIA: Adam and Kelly tried to steal Christiana, but I wasn't gonna let her go.
We got to do this! There's so much we can do.
I'm feeling really grateful 'cause I got a second chance.
It's just encouraging, and I get to go more and do more and spend more time with Alicia and be here finding who I am.
Yay.
An artist is a unique individual, and I'm just so excited to help you continue to discover who that is in you.
- Yes.
- So glad she's home.
Team Alicia.
