Capitani (2019) s02e11 Episode Script

Wipe the Smile From Your Face

[atmospheric music playing]
[car door closes]
And you're sure that it's here?
Certainly sure.
I come here all summer to go fishing.
Manscheid is just
on the other side, over there.
[mysterious music playing]
[Pascale sighs] Okay.
We're gonna need help.
Gather your fishermen friends together.
Er, not not the colleagues
at the police station?
No.
This one is an undercover mission.
Oh. Okay.
Here.
A NETFLIX SERIES
[opening theme music playing]
[footsteps approaching]
Hmm.
Can I borrow your weapon?
[holster unsnaps]
Hmm.
[Joe] Thanks.
[Pascale grunts]
How far is that?
[exhales]
Eight, nine metres, I guess.
Okay.
Limit the search within
nine metres away from the bank.
This is what we're looking for.
Three go to the right, three to the left.
Keep two metres between you.
And do what you can.
- Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.
- [Joe] Let's go!
[sombre music playing]
[Elsa] Marc.
Marc?
Marc.
- Erm
- Come on in.
No, I just wanted to
hand this in personally.
I hope it's not what I think it is.
It is.
My job here doesn't make sense.
It's completely useless.
We're just beginning to
analyse everything and you're going.
- The next dealer is already there.
- We'll take care of them later.
[Elsa sighs]
Close the door behind you.
[door closes]
Elsa, we have
dozens of interrogations to do,
tons of phones need analysing.
I need people who understand.
Intelligent people
who may have different opinions.
Don't get the feeling
you want to hear them.
[sighs] Okay.
I don't understand why you've defended
Capitani, but I've always listened to you.
Even if it's ridiculous to suspect
he might be an undercover agent.
I agree.
- Finally.
- He's working for both sides.
[sighs] Elsa.
You want to hear what I've got to say?
[Diederich] Hmm.
It doesn't work out why Capitani told us
and the dealers at the same time.
Unless he's got a plan.
Unless you want the police to
do the dirty work cleaning up the streets.
Yeah. I know.
Clearing the way for someone else who
wants to take over the Nigerians' spot.
- I'm guessing it's a pimp.
- Okay.
Find out who benefits from the Nigerians
being in prison, and then we'll talk.
[huffs]
[Pascale] You were right.
Carla's coordinates were correct.
Your weapon was lying
in the pond in Manscheid.
[mysterious music playing]
[gun clicks]
It's loaded.
[tense music playing]
- Does your chief know you found this?
- No.
One day, I happened to go
to Carla's house,
just out of the blue.
Da Costa's lying there in a pool of blood.
She wanted to finish him.
[Carla] He's dead!
He regained consciousness.
- He had a knife.
- [Carla whimpers]
- It was him
- [Carla] Shoot him!
- Shoot him!
- [gunshot]
[bullet shell clatters]
or me. No choice.
And since then,
you've punished yourself or what?
I'm awaiting justice.
Then take it and turn yourself in.
Negate the prosecutor's leverage over you.
Say it was self-defence? Wouldn't work.
It's legitimately self-defence.
And Carla can bear witness.
[sombre music playing]
Carla
is dead.
Murdered.
What?
By the Nigerians.
The French police are currently
interrogating the two main suspects,
following the murder of Arthur Koenig.
They're professional killers from Lyon.
Not Nigerians.
This party is definitely not over.
I hope you know by now what you want.
For Carla and for you.
[door opens]
[door closes]
[keys jingle]
[sombre music playing]
Lucky?
Can you hear me?
Oh. All good. All good.
- You're safe here. Don't worry.
- [groans] Please don't.
Your wound is healing,
but you still have too much fever.
- We need you to go to the hospital.
- No. No, please.
No hospital.
The police are after me.
- Yeah, but I
- Please.
- Okay.
- They're dangerous.
I'm not safe.
Okay. Okay.
[exhales]
[door closes]

LUC - CALL - MESSAGE
[receptionist] All right. Thanks.
That man might need a moment.
- The police have been informed.
- What?
It's a gunshot wound.
Sorry, but that's the procedure.
[Jeanne] Yes, but, er
[sighs]
Do you want to call someone?
[hesitates] My sister.
But I don't know where she is.
- Why, is she is Luxembourg?
- Yes.
But she she
she doesn't want me to find her.
What's she doing here?
She's a prostitute here.
Your brother helped me find her,
but she ran away.
So now we're keeping an eye on the whores?
That's okay with me.
There are less drugs circulating,
but they're still out there.
I suspect the girls have
something to do with that.
[phone ringing]
Special Intervention Unit.
[woman] Oh, hi. Don't know
if this is the right department.
I'm calling from the hospital.
We have a patient you have to collect.
[Toni] Okay, I'll be right there.
- I won't be long.
- But where are you going?
Won't take very long.
In ten minutes,
we're supposed to be in the submarine.
[sighs]
[phone beeps]
[line ringing]
Hi, Special Intervention Unit.
You were talking to a colleague.
[woman] Oh, yeah. Erm, it's the hospital.
I just called regarding, erm, a patient.
Merci.
[suspenseful music playing]
You can come out now.
You must go. The police are on their way.
Some anti-inflammatories.
Watch his temperature.
- [Capitani] Yeah.
- You can share them with him.
But keep the blue ones,
he doesn't know how to appreciate them.
[chuckles softly]
- Thank you, Jeanne.
- You're welcome.
Er, Jeanne.
I, erm
He told me you're trying to
get him and his sister back together.
Here, put this on.
- [door closes]
- [Capitani grunts]
Bianca met your sister.
She's looking for you.
- Grace is looking for me?
- Yeah.
[chuckles softly]
- I can't believe it.
- Stay, stay, stay.
Come on. Hurry up.
- [Lucky groans]
- [car door closes]
[door opens]
Hey. Hey.
Police. You've got
a patient here, Lucky Onu.
Yes. He's already moved on.
What?
- This man is wanted. He's a drug dealer.
- Really?
- What else have you already found out?
- Who do you think you are?
I'm writing a report. What's your name?
And where is that dealer gone?
- Morning.
- Morning.
Let go of me.
I'm Jeanne Capitani,
and I've no idea where the man is.
[scoffs]
[door opens]
[imperceptible]
[Elsa] Toni!
Can you explain to me what that was?
Why are you investigating
Lucky Onu behind my back?
Behind your back? [scoffs]
And you? What are you up to?
Running after me all the time,
with your lectures and your inspection.
You seem to think you're better than this.
No, certainly not.
Did I even vaguely mention it
when you fell asleep during an obs?
You're either on the team or not.
But you have to decide.
[mobile vibrating]
Your sister's almost as delightful as you.
[Capitani] Why are you
still chasing Lucky?
We're cleaning up the area.
What should I say?
He is not a dealer.
He just wants to be with his sister.
- Leave him alone.
- Okay. Who does that help?
Valentina?
Not everything I do
in my life is for Valentina.
That's to be confirmed.
[mobile beeps]
[sombre music playing]
LUX - SCAFFOLDING
LUXEMBOURG STATION
[door opens]
[door closes]
[gasps]
[softly] My God.
I didn't think we'd find him so quickly.
It was us who were found.
No, no, no, leave him. Let him rest. Hmm?
[grunts]
[Bianca sighs]
Carla, did you find her?
I didn't make it.
The Nigerians?
I'll find that out. [exhales]
You were close, I presume.
Yeah, I thought so.
Seems not.
Did she betray you, or you her?
Both. [chuckles dryly]
Lucky can't remain here.
Hey.
Hey, Lucky.
- How are you?
- Fine.
I have a message for you.
[handbag unzips]
[paper rustles]
From Grace.
[inhales sharply]
[grunts softly]
[sighs]
I don't understand.
That's where your sister is.
What does it mean?
It mean, "the cousin in the north".
Do you have a cousin nearby?
[Lucky] What is nearby?
Mm Germany, Belgium.
Cousin Kebe.
Where is cousin Kebe?
They came together to Europe,
but very soon they split up.
- And where is she now?
- [Lucky] I don't know.
And what's her full name?
Kebe Moussa.
What is she doing?
[weakly] She's a a prostitute. Probably.
I suppose I can go and ask around, erm
I'll do what I can.
The girls move around a bit.
I'll be back soon.
- [Lucky groans softly]
- [door opens]
[door closes]
What happened to your back?
- They they shot me.
- Who?
A policeman.
During the assault.
In the back?
He wanted to find Grace.
Everyone wants to find Grace.
[suspenseful music playing]
[mysterious music playing]
I can check. Hold on a sec.
Jennifer! Come here.
- [Bianca] Hello.
- Hello.
Erm, I'm looking for a girl.
Her name is Kebe.
She's Grace's cousin. Do you know her?
Er, no.
[Bianca] Hi, are you all right?
So, she's called Kebe.
She's Grace's cousin.
[sighs] Merci.
[women chattering]

- Hello.
I've been able to find her.
I know where Grace is.
Okay. And?
So I'm going to go and see her.
Should be back in about a day, I'm sure.
Is she that far away?
Yes.
Where?
I prefer not to say.
[chuckles] Why not?
What do you want to know for?
I I don't want to know. I'm just asking.
I'll see you tomorrow.
Bianca, where is she?
[firmly] Bianca, where is
[sighs]
NEW MESSAGE FROM BIANCA PETROVA
READ
FROM BIANCA PETROVA
I found her.
[mobile beeps]
Are you feeling better?
[exhales sharply]
Yeah.
Bianca found Kebe.
She's working in a champagne bar.
I will see Grace?
Tomorrow. Hmm.
[Lucky chuckles softly]
You're a good man.
- You should be a police officer.
- [laughs]
I hope you're hungry now.
You need to find your sister too.
- What do you mean?
- You know what I mean.
Stop feeding the anger.
[hesitates] I can't help it.
I'm angry at her, and my dead father.
Hmm, at everyone.
Hmm?
[exhales] At yourself.
My dad killed himself, a while ago.
When I was a kid.
Do you miss him?
No.
I just feel
the sadness of his miserable life.
I'm wondering
why I didn't feel it back then.
Hmm. You feel guilty about it.
Mm.
Yeah.
You were just a child.
What could you have done?
[hesitates]
Nothing.
[solemn music playing]
I came all this way
because my family sent me
to bring my sister back.
Because everyone thinks
I'm not good enough to succeed my father.
It must be Grace.
I crossed half a continent to find her.
I came across the sea, I almost drowned,
I got beaten up, I even got shot.
Still I'm not good enough.
[sighs] Well
Fuck them.
[chuckling]
Yeah. Yeah.
Fuck them.
[Capitani] Hmm.
[Lucky] Hmm.
- [mysterious music playing]
- [bracelets jingling]
[imperceptible]
[baby wailing next door]
[sighs]
[sombre music playing]
[floorboards creaking]
[suspenseful music playing]
[door creaks open]
[door closes]
[box opens]
[footsteps approaching]
Something's not right.
There's an internal investigation
as there appears to be an informer
who works more for the others than for us.
Just as I told you.
And how was this found out?
There was the question
why the French customs officers
never arrived
at the service station as planned,
and why Arthur Koenig was there alone.
It turns out someone called off
the customs officers.
Who?
[scoffs] I wish it was that obvious.
There was a call from a Luxembourger
who claimed to be a customs officer.
He had all the details to hand,
and they trusted him.
I understand.
It's him I need to find.
Yep.
Because we are in the spotlight as well.
[suspenseful music playing]
[papers rustling]
What are you looking for in there?
Why are you here?
And you?
You you shouldn't be here, you see.
- Shouldn't be leaving Lucky on his own.
- What are you here for?
Are you hiding something from me?
[chuckles nervously] Why are you
talking to me like that?
- Dominik?
- He's not here.
[Maria] Who do we give the money to?
Are you in charge then?
[tense music playing]
[money rustling]
That's fine, Maria.
That was a good night's work.
Not bad.
But we could've doubled it.
[Capitani] How's that?
By doing what?
You've begun selling dope?
Putain, Bianca. Over to you.
How have you got drugs here?
- I don't know anything.
- From who?
[Maria] From Dominik.
Everybody's desperate for it.
[hurried footsteps descending]
He hides it somewhere in the house.
[mysterious music playing]
[switch clicks]
[door rattling]
[suspenseful music playing]
[thumps]
[gun cocks]
[latch clatters]
[gunshot]
[hurried footsteps descending]
- Stay back!
- You shouldn't be in here.
Take one more step and you're dead.
[torch clicks]
[line ringing]
It's me. Yeah, they're still here.
I'll be in touch when they leave.
[suspenseful music playing]
[switch clicks]
[music intensifies]
