The Lying Game s01e14 Episode Script

Black And White And Green All Over

A few months ago, I discovered I had a twin sister.
And then she she asked me to take her place, keep the secret, find our real mother and try to stay alive.
Put yourself in my shoes.
How long could you keep up the lying game? Someone tried to kill me! They could be watching us right now, and Emma is in danger until we figure out who did this.
We were all thinking Annie Hobbs had something to do with it.
Our mother was the one who saved my life.
Ryan Harwell-- rich, snotty entitled.
You hate him.
Look, the ballet is next week, and if you'd have any desire to go with me That's great.
We could start fresh and see where it takes us.
Your dad killed my mom.
What? She was one of his patients.
He screwed up.
She was supposed to be fine.
We really need to get you out of here.
Sutton! Sutton, what's going on? Oh, my God.
I just fell and hit my head.
Are you sure you got that tonight? Well, I just heal very quickly.
God, I love my bed! And my cushy mattress, my three-zillion- thread-count sheets.
You're in a good mood.
How do you feel about chocolate-banana pancakes? Ugh.
Okay, but you've been a little lax on the whole diet thing lately.
I just thought Well, all the more reason to get back into fighting shape.
Well, I hope it's not because you're worried about fitting into this.
I know white chiffon can be so unforgiving, but you look amazing in it and I'm sure everyone else will be wearing black.
The Black and White Ball.
I almost forgot.
It's kind of like your initiation as a full-fledged junior member of the club.
And now I have to go wearing that.
You like this dress.
"Very Audrey Hepburn, " isn't that what you said? Did I? Hmm.
It's just so plain.
Hey, $300 worth of plain.
It's just not really me.
Well, how about this? The programs arrived, too.
All the junior members and their escorts.
"Ethan Whitehorse.
" Now, that, I like.
I'll take the dress, and I'll make it work.
Thank you.
What are you doing? Are you trying to get caught? My mom and dad were right there.
I'm sorry.
I I fell asleep at the trailer, and then Dan came in early from his shift, so I-I had to run.
I didn't know where else to go.
How about the mall? You seem to have that place on lockdown.
You got the dress.
Yes, I got the dress.
And let me guess.
You just  had  to go to the Black and White Ball, and you  had  to take Ethan as your escort.
Kind of.
What was I supposed to do? I get it.
It's just that it feels like Homecoming all over again.
Anyway, now that I'm here, I guess I can go to my own Black and White Ball with Ethan.
Okay, but where am I supposed to live? Maybe I can camp out in your closet or something.
No.
It isn't safe for either of us.
Somebody broke in here last night, and there's a killer out there.
What do you want me to do? I don't know, Emma.
But if we both want to stay alive, you need to find someplace else to go.
- EPISODE 14: -BLACK, WHITE AND GREEN I mean, how about a hotel, or maybe you should just go back to Vegas.
So you're not just kicking me out of your house, you're kicking me out of your life.
No, it's not like that.
Look, after the attack, I I would never be able to forgive myself if something happened to you, and no one was there to save you like Annie saved me.
Sorry, I know it's pick-an-outfit crunch time, but my head is spinning; I really need to talk to someone.
It's fine.
Make it fast.
Okay, well Justin said some really messed-up stuff last night.
Justin? Hello, head wound! My boyfriend? Oh, right, of course.
This is serious and crazy.
And I don't even know if I believe any of it, but Justin said our whole relationship was fake.
Or at least that it started out that way because he came here looking for Dad, and he wanted to hurt his family and hurt him.
What are you talking about? Justin said Dad killed his mom on the operating table.
A mistake, I guess.
Dad got a call and got distracted, and he left the surgery and let some intern finish up.
So, what, Justin was dating you for revenge? That's crazy.
Have you asked Dad? I can't.
Laurel, I think you have to.
You have to tell Dad and Mom and probably the police.
No, stop! If I do, there's no going back, okay? Justin said that everything's changed, and he fell in love with me for real.
I don't care.
He's a crazy person.
Just stop, okay?! Please, just give me some time because I need to figure out how I feel, so just don't tell anybody.
Crazy outfit.
You look gorge.
Thanks.
Thought I'd shake it up a little bit.
Well, you're shaking it, that's for sure.
Mm-hmm.
Hey, Mads.
Hey.
How do you feel about escargot? Snails, I know, but they really do taste just like chicken.
Plus, you get to use those little forks with Ryan, what are you doing? There's a new French bistro in the Ambassador Hotel.
It's it's kind of fancy, but I figure we'll be dressed up for the ballet anyway.
Ryan's taking me to see  Cinderella.
Men in tights, but what can I say? I'm just hoping the glass slipper fits.
Ryan Harwell? Have you lost your mind? Do you not remember ninth grade? Of course, but he does seem to have grown a couple inches since then.
'Cause his pre-pubescent gnome syndrome was his only problem.
It's one date to a ballet I'm really dying to see.
I'll take you to the ballet.
You don't have to stoop to that.
I'm not stooping.
Yeah, 'cause he's grown.
I heard.
What is with you? Yesterday you were pushing me back into the dating pool, saying, "People change.
He's cute.
" Well, a lot's changed since yesterday.
Hey, are you okay? As okay as I could possibly be after my world's been flipped upside down.
I'm-I'm sorry.
I love you, and I'm telling you the truth.
But how can you expect me to just accept the fact that the entire beginning of our relationship was a lie? Why pick me, not Sutton? Admit it.
You thought I'd be an easier mark.
That's not true.
Now look me in the eye and try that again.
Forget it.
I gotta get to class.
Hi, boyfriend.
I guess we should hold hands, right? Get over here.
So you put Emma out on the street? Is that how she described it? Please, I am trying to keep us alive.
Okay, good.
Well, that's why I'm moving her into your family's cabin.
Why are you doing this? I got caught with a cut on my head, which, by the way, my father insists on checking every night until it heals.
As much as I would  love  to be the one to go into hiding, I just have to keep being me, keep up appearances.
Speaking of appearances Yeah, no, thanks.
You're gonna have to find somebody else.
Yeah, it doesn't work that way.
See, your name right here? In print.
Well, it's not like it's in blood.
Look this could be my chance to make things right.
It was a huge mistake keeping you my secret boyfriend.
So think of this as a coming-out party for us.
What planet are you on? Emma and I have been out for a long time now.
She's the one who put my name on that list; who wanted me there.
Well, then if you were willing to go with Emma, you have to go with me.
Why? Someone is watching.
And someone tried to kill me, so we have to act like nothing has changed.
She just wants to get rid of me.
And this surprises you because? Well, I mean, is she she even trying to figure out who broke into the house or who tried to kill her, or what happened to our birth mother? Well, if she's not into figuring it out, maybe we shouldn't be either.
What do you mean? I mean maybe we just stick with our original plan.
We get out of town like we wanted to do before she reappeared.
Where do we go? There's this lake Canandaigua.
My grandfather used to take me there when I was a kid whenever things got bad with my father.
You never talk about him.
There's not much to tell.
But there's a reason I left the reservation and moved in with my brother.
But anyway I love that lake.
I want you to see it.
God, I love you.
But? But I can't leave.
That note.
Ethan, someone did try to kill her.
Thayer will be here.
He can protect her.
He'd love to.
Yeah, I know, he can, but he can't take her to the dance.
You and I have been such a couple that if Sutton shows up with Thayer, it's gonna look suspicious.
She's my sister.
Please.
Do it for me.
+ Isn't the Black and White Ball enough? I don't get why we have to have a pre-lunch, too.
You know, most girls would want to stretch this moment as long as possible.
Well, thanks for going with me.
I've decided that taking my brother as my escort is old-fashioned, not pathetic.
Hey, there's nothing pathetic about you, but it's not too late to change your mind.
Yeah, well, it might be too late to find somebody equally not pathetic.
What about Ryan Harwell? Oh, my God, again? You have the biggest man crush on that guy.
I'm just saying, he's good-looking, he probably owns a tux, and he's really into you, so Which is why I'm letting him take me to the ballet.
Why not let him take you to this? Because it's the Black and White Ball.
I'm going to have these pictures forever; I don't want to look back and think, "Who the hell was that?" Oh, okay.
So you'd rather look back and say, "I didn't have the guts to take a chance on anyone except my brother?" Sorry I'm late.
Got hung up at the office.
You ready? What about you, Dad? Who are you taking to this thing? Who's your date? Come on, Maddie.
You know I'm the original one-man wolf pack.
I travel to these things alone.
Well, maybe it's time to add somebody to the pack.
You got somebody in mind? Actually, yeah, I do.
Rebecca Sewell.
I saw you flirting at the ballet benefit.
What? What?! What? How did I miss this? Oh, my God, Dad, are you blushing? No.
You so are.
No.
Hi.
I figured bagels would travel.
Wasn't really sure which kind you're in the mood for, so I just got one of everything.
You didn't by any chance bring me coffee? Coffee? It's a little harder to carry on a bike.
Luckily, I am a hell of a rider.
Thank you.
How was last night? I couldn't sleep, I was too scared that whoever wrote that note was gonna break in here.
Sorry I couldn't stay, and I'm sorry I have to bolt right now, go to this luncheon thing.
You have to go.
I know I do, and actually, I want to go.
I have a new plan, okay? Tell me what you think about this Where's Laurel? Is she meeting us inside? She came early; she wanted to talk to Justin.
I thought they broke up.
I know, I know, it's complicated, honey.
She's 16.
I just think he's bad news.
I know, but maybe this is something she has to figure out for herself.
Or maybe not.
What? Why? Did something happen? Sutton, do you know something? It's not my place.
It absolutely is your place-- she's your younger sister.
Justin says you operated on his mother, and she died because you messed up.
What are you talking about? You were distracted, you got a phone call, and then you had some intern finish up.
Oh, my God, it's really him.
It's really who? L.
A.
Honey, this case is a lot more complicated than you realize.
And I have to talk to him.
Wait, where are you Hey, Kristin, just stay here; I'll handle this.
I want you to stop texting me and sending me flowers.
My parents keep asking me questions that I don't Dad, what are you doing here? Sutton told me.
What? I can't believe it's really you.
Laurel, can you give us a second, please? No way! I want to hear what you have to say.
I don't have to explain.
I'm sorry about your mother, Justin, more than you know.
I made a mistake, and I paid for it, and I keep paying for it.
I never wanted your money! I want answers.
What happened to you that day? Where did you go that was so important? Why weren't you with my mom? So it's true, Daddy? I don't know what he's told you, okay? I was afraid of this, when I first thought, it might be him.
You knew? No You figured out who he was, and you didn't say anything to me? I didn't know.
Stop, you're both keeping secrets! Honey No, you're no different than he is! Sorry I'm late.
I had to check on Emma at the cabin.
It's fine.
There's actually been some family drama, and for once, it has nothing to do with me.
Yeah, right.
Anyway, there's something I need to talk to you about.
No, you cannot back out of this thing.
No, no, I want to take you.
In fact, I want everyone in there to see us together.
Guess things didn't go so well at the cabin, then, hmm? I want everyone watching, because at some point in the night, I'm going to break up with you.
You said it yourself, okay, it's not safe for Emma to stay here.
And I'm not gonna let her leave without me.
How romantic.
All right, we do this, publicly, loudly so that whoever tried to kill you will see it happen.
And then he can stop expecting us to be together.
Got it.
And I can leave without putting you in danger.
Please, stop, let's just talk about this.
No.
I'm not letting you get behind the wheel of a car while you're in this state.
Let me have the keys.
Thank you.
Laurel, I'm sorry.
Save it! See what you did? Thank you very much! Nothing to do with you, huh? I may have told my mom and dad something that Laurel wanted to keep secret.
Of course you did.
It was important and scary.
What? Isn't that what squeaky-clean Emma would've done, confided in the parents? Ratting out your sister is exactly what Emma wouldn't do.
Okay, that's why Laurel actually likes you right now.
Or at least why she did.
Great.
Nice to see you're undoing all of Emma's good work on your first day back.
+ Hey.
Hi.
Any news? Is Sutton any closer to finding out No, not yet.
She's still got her hands full with her re-acclimation as Sutton project.
I bet.
She did want me to come by, though, and bring you this.
All the basics, plus some comfort food.
Double stuff, chocolate chip cookies Those aren't from Sutton.
She doesn't even know they exist.
Okay, well, she did want me to go to the store.
Fine.
Comfort food selection was on me, but if you want something else Are you kidding me? No.
You have any milk in there? Yeah.
Here you go.
Thank you.
So what's with the laptop? You looking at Sutton's profile page for pictures of her and Ethan? Ha-ha.
No.
Apparently, I'm the only one still trying to figure out who tried to kill my sister.
What do you got? Well, I know I brought this up to you before, and you didn't like it, but I can't help but think about your dad.
This again? No.
Alec paid Mads's boyfriend to leave town when he overheard him talking about Sutton.
And I overheard him telling Ted that Sutton can never be allowed to find her birth mother, and you even said that thought he was snooping on you in L.
A.
My dad is many things, okay? But he is not a killer.
I'm telling you, Emma, it's not him.
All right? Hm? So, too much? It is absolutely too much.
And that's why it's fabulous.
My dad's gonna love it.
Are you okay with me being his date? I hope you don't think it's weird that I called you over here, but I just I want to make sure.
It's great.
Actually, it was my idea.
I just didn't think he had the guts to go through with it.
Your dad does not strike me as a fearful person.
No, not generally, but beautiful women are his Kryptonite.
Oh, I'll keep that in mind.
What about you? Who are you taking? Just Thayer, my brother.
Which is old-fashioned, I know, but Okay, are you kidding me? A girl like you? There should be, like, a million guys that are killing to take you.
I mean, there is this one guy.
Ryan Harwell.
Oh, I remember him.
He bought the $500 tickets to the ballet at the benefit.
Yeah, which was either really showy and obnoxious, or generous and super sweet.
You could give him the benefit of the doubt.
That's what Thayer said.
Hm And Sutton.
I don't know, at first she was really into it, but see, we used to hate this guy.
Then it's perfect.
It's just like a movie.
You have to fight in the first ten minutes of the movie before you can walk off into the sunset together at the end.
Is that what's going on with you and my dad? Um, maybe.
All I know is that I have spent a great deal of time getting over difficult relationships, and then I finally realized that I have a choice.
I can either choose to be miserable or choose to be happy.
You really think it's that simple? Oh, I know it is.
I am sorry, but your father has every reason to be upset.
If Justin had targeted our family, targeted you Yeah, but Dad screwed up big time.
Honey, sometimes surgeons lose patients in the operating room.
But getting that call, and then leaving the surgery? I mean, do you remember what happened? I do, of course I do.
Your father was devastated.
He had to give up his residency because of this case.
It's the reason we left L.
A.
, moved back to Phoenix.
He's a good and decent man, Laurel.
He would never intentionally hurt anyone.
I can only imagine how you're hurting.
But the truth is, not a day goes by that I don't think about your mother and what happened.
That makes two of us.
It was a terrible time in my life for a lot of reasons, but that surgery is one of my deepest regrets.
And I haven't made a mistake like that since.
And leaving early? Where were you going? Does it really matter? Wherever I say, nowhere was more important than where I should have been, right by your mother's side.
I'm going to lose Laurel, aren't I? A secret like this who knows what will happen? Hi.
I brought you some clothes.
As a going-away present? No.
I know you didn't come with much, and well, I saw the Facebook photos, and let's face it: There's some things in here that look way better on you.
What's going on? Well I I don't want you to go.
I've been thinking about it, and I'm really sorry the way things between us got screwed up.
Okay Yes, I was upset about the whole Ethan thing, but then he told me the plan, and I had to face reality, that I could lose my twin sister-- probably for good-- and I don't want that.
I don't want some guy to tear us apart.
And you realized all of this today? Mm-hmm.
And once you figure out this whole killer thing and find out who we can really trust, I want to tell Ted and Kristin about you.
For real.
And we don't even have to tell them that it's been you this whole time.
We can say that you suddenly showed up from Vegas, and it'll be like a do-over, the way it always should've been.
I want to believe you, Sutton, but Then do.
Don't go, Emma.
You can have the family that you've always wanted.
Just hang on a little bit longer.
+ Whoa.
You look great.
Thank you.
It's a little much for just hiding out at the cabin, but I couldn't resist.
Sutton brought me this stuff.
I don't know if she's sucking me into another lying game, but she did offer me the one thing-- besides you-- that I want.
A family.
I know.
It's crazy.
No.
I get it.
Wouldn't mind having one of those myself.
Even if there's the slightest chance that she means what she says, I have to take it.
So I guess this means the breakup is off? Yeah.
I guess it is.
I'm gonna go to that dance.
I'm gonna show my face, and then I'm gonna come back here, and I'm going to spend the night with you.
All right? I don't want you to be scared anymore.
I should've known it was too good to be true.
Yeah, you're probably right.
And whatever Justin said Not him.
You.
I should've known this whole "new leaf" thing was just an act, and now you're back to the way you always used to be.
Which was? Selfish.
Vindictive.
Mean.
Right.
That's me.
I asked you not to tell anyone.
I told you that I believed Justin, or at least I was trying to.
Yeah.
Which is crazy.
I believed Ethan.
I even took the fall for him when everybody thought he stole your laptop! And you know why? Because you believed him.
That's what sisters do.
Now, I don't know anything about sisters, and she's the big expert.
Who? I mean you.
Look who's here.
Used the front door and everything.
You look beautiful.
Thanks.
I'm going to go check on Laurel, and why don't I give you two a moment to bathe in your mutual beauty? We leave for the club in ten.
You do look good.
Two tuxes in one year, who would've thought? I'm kind of getting used to it.
Uh, I'm not gonna do the shiny shoes, but other than that Thanks for coming to this thing with me.
My mom has been talking about it since I was, like, eight.
We used to go to the club, and see all the junior members all dressed up, and a handsome guy on every girl's arm.
She'd say, "Someday, that'll be you.
" Well, now it is.
Thanks.
My pleasure.
Miss Sutton Penelope Mercer.
Miss Madeline Margo Rybak.
Mr.
Charles Edward Hay.
Miss Catherine Elizabeth Peterson.
No, I'm sorry.
Mrs.
Mercer, I just Don't "Mrs.
Mercer" me.
I know Laurel may have forgiven you, you may have had some "Come to Jesus" moment with my husband, but I think what you did was You need help.
Mom.
I'm sorry.
I don't even know what you're doing here.
Please just turn around and walk away.
What, no dips or twirls? You okay? I'm a little twirled out, hon.
It's been a rough couple of days.
Oh.
I'm sorry if I No, no, no, no.
I'm glad you brought it up.
It's just, I I know sometimes you don't think I tell you everything, but What? Is there something you want to tell me? You can tell me anything, Dad.
No.
I Why bring something up if it's only going to hurt people? Right? What's the point? Uh, you mind if I cut in? Heard that's what you're supposed to do.
Thanks.
I love you, honey.
Mm-hmm.
Have fun.
Closer.
Everything okay? Everything is great.
Except what's a girl got to do to get a dip or a twirl around here? Mm.
Hm.
Just like old times.
Yup.
We should kiss.
What? Everyone is watching.
It's what they're expecting.
You would do it if it were Emma.
Hmm.
Okay, you can do better than that.
Sutton No.
We have to give them something they can believe.
There.
Now there's no mistaking me for Emma.
Ethan, what are you doing? I'm leaving.
The night isn't over.
It is for me.
All right? I did my duty and a whole lot more.
I'm sorry.
I was trying to make it seem real.
Yeah.
Right.
You can't leave.
It'll look weird, and people will talk.
All right, well, I'm sure you'll come up with a story that  sounds  good.
After all, that's what you're best at.
Any chance I can have this dance? Do you need some help? Isn't that what escorts are for? Oh, no.
Escorts are for grabbing plates of treats from the chocolate fountain.
Oh, yum.
Mm-hmm.
Hey, um, thank you for convincing me to take a chance on Ryan.
It was definitely worth it.
No.
Thank  you  for convincing your dad to take a chance on me.
I'm I'm hoping that he finds it worth it, too.
Maddie, I'm sorry.
You need a hand? Oh, no.
Honestly, I'm fine.
You two should drink some champagne or something.
I think she likes you.
I think she just likes having someone to talk to.
Not that she can't talk to you.
It's just, you know, woman to woman.
It's different.
I can imagine.
May I ask you something? Sure.
What happened with you and Caroline? I mean, not that I thought you guys were like Ted and Kristin I thought we weren't gonna talk about the past.
Oh.
Mm.
I thought we just weren't gonna talk about that  other  past.
You're crazy, you know that? Oh, can't let all those moves I taught you go to waste.
Okay, so how was it? Was it stuffy or snobby, or did you actually have fun? Sutton kissed me.
It was just for a second.
I pulled away.
I just I want us always to be honest with each other.
Okay.
Why am I not surprised? I am an idiot.
I'm an idiot.
No.
You're not an idiot.
You just wanted to believe her.
We can figure it out in the morning, okay? Tonight all I want to do is this.
You know it's never too late Oh, if you're hearing this I must have made it through Oh, when the clouds above are overlooking my window I see the sky is still blue Ooh Hey.
You seen Mads? For a skinny ballet girl, she really does eat a lot of chocolate.
Hmm.
If she wasn't my best friend, I'd have to hate her.
Thanks for being cool about this.
I know we're not in ninth grade anymore, but What, you thought I'd be jealous? I don't know.
I mean, we did have that night in the McBrides' basement, and I know you were pissed I wasn't really into it that I was carrying a torch for Mads, but I had no idea that was your first time.
I rejected you after what I believe was your first time, too.
And then I made sure no one ever found out that I'd even considered hooking up with you.
By convincing the entire school I was a total loser, right? I was what lying game patient zero? Please, I don't even remember what I did.
Well, I'll never forget.
You invited me to a costume party, so I show up in my Harry Potter robe, only to find the cops, and everyone at the party thinking I'm the one who called them.
"minor in possession," not a single one, by the way, wearing a costume.
Hm.
Look, I'm sorry, but I had no right to humiliate you like that.
Thanks, Sutton.
That means a lot.
Though I must say, it doesn't seem to have done much damage.
Look at you.
I wouldn't humiliate you now.
And just let me know when you get tired of Mads.
What the hell is going on with you and Rebecca? Are you dating now? Would that be a problem? After all, Ted, the past is the past.
Maybe Rebecca's my future.
That's insane.
There's no way you could possibly Would you relax.
Think about it.
Maybe I'm doing it for you.
Look, if I can keep her close, I can keep her happy.
Make sure she doesn't change her mind about keeping her mouth shut.
Oh it's just the past keeps catching up with me.
Now it's dating my daughter.
You should be happy, Ted.
This Justin thing ends here, we're okay.
Because if anybody knew why your scalpel really slipped that afternoon Hey, hey, hey.
I know that.
I know.
Okay.
Sorry to interrupt.
I need to speak with you.
What about? We have a situation.
Urgent police matter.
All right.
What have you got? All right, so that woman, Annie Hobbs? We found her on a park bench talking to herself near the Mercer home.
Unbelievable.
Where is she now? She's at Phoenix Presbyterian in a private room We're keeping it quiet, just like you asked.
All right, good work.
What are you still doing here? Trying to prove to you that I'm not gonna give up and run away.
Why not? This whole thing was fake, so it should be pretty easy to get over it.
If I could let go, I would have done that a long time ago.
Laurel, I changed my mind about my stupid plan before our first date was even over with.
Why? 'Cause I was just so irresistible? Yes, you were.
You  are.
I love you, Laurel.
I love your laugh and your crazy dance moves and the way you crinkle your nose when you think something's weird or funny or Like that.
I love that.
I love everything about you.
And I'm asking you, please just give me one more shot.
Oh, my God! Sorry.
Sutton, come on! Okay, look, they found our mother.
She's at the hospital.
We need to get to her before Alec moves her.
Alec? What are you I want you to see her, I want her to see you, and then I want answers.
Emma, come on.
This is the moment we have been waiting for.
+ Dr.
Hughes, I found her, luckily before anyone else did.
I'm sending her back to you.
This time, don't lose her.
Emma? Oh, my God.
It's really you.
She didn't die in the fire.
Emma didn't die.
No, not Emma.
My baby My baby's dead.
What-what are you talking about? I came to see you.
At the house.
That was you I got scared and I ran, I I had to find you.
I wanted to tell you at the motel, but Tell me what? The truth.
You need to know the truth.
The truth about what? I I'm sorry.
I did, I had a baby.
A girl.
Same day.
Same place you were born.
But you're not I'm not Oh, my God.
You're not our mother.
Want a little nightcap? Thought maybe a little pinot? Stop, please.
I'm just so drained.
I'm sure.
I'm sorry.
Honey, I know this is my old mistake catching up with us.
But it's not.
It's so much bigger than that.
You never told me you got a phone call, left the surgery, let some intern I'm sure I did.
No, you didn't.
You said you nicked an artery.
I thought that's what the settlement was about, but being distracted? Rushing off someplace? Was it me? I mean, was I the distraction? Kristin It was a rough time for both of us, we were trying to get pregnant; that's a lot of pressure.
Honey Did I phone you and No, n Trust me, Kristin, it was not your fault.
But I don't I don't trust you.
Why would you keep something like that from me? The details, I mean, even if it's nothing.
How do I know there's not something else you're not telling me? When my baby died, I lost my mind.
I heard your mother down the hall, giving you up.
Two girls.
Giving you away.
I wanted you.
Steal you, take you, and I did.
I got Emma.
But then the fire So if you aren't our mother, then who is? Who was the woman down the hall? I don't know.
Wrong name.
Jane Doe.
And how do you know Alec Rybek? And why does he want to keep you here? I've said too much.
You're in danger.
Why? Because of Alec? It's not safe.
Okay, I need to know who tried to kill me.
The man who climbed out of the lake that night.
Yes.
I grabbed his arm, but he wouldn't help.
What did he look like? Snake.
The snake.
He looked like a snake? What are you doing? no visitors! Emma, we got to get out of here.
Rebecca? Hi.
Alec, what a surprise.
Listen, I want to apologize.
I got called away.
I'm sorry I had to leave you there.
Um, I-I had a great time, and I'd love to do it again.
I'd like that.
I can't believe this is happening between us.
What? Is something happening here? Good night, Alec.
Good night.
Oh, Annie.
What have you done now?
