And over there is where I went to school.
Oh, did you get a degree?
Egon, that's PS 47.
Nobody gets a degree from grade school.
I did.
Oh, Egon, you're so smart.
There was always a cop
on horseback right here.
He'd let me ride it on Saturday afternoon.
What kind of things did you used to do?
I had the largest ant farm
in the state of Ohio.
That's very interesting.
Come on, I'll show you
our old teenage hangout.
We used to go to old man Spinelli's
malt shop for sodas
and to play
the jukebox.
It sounds very
teenagerish.
Oh, wait. What?
Here it is just around the corner.
I'd say things have changed a bit.
They certainly have.
It's gone.
Spinelli's, Mrs. Faber's dress shop,
Hanra Han's bar.
That's life in the city.
I guess so.
Oh, Egon, let's go to the carnival.
-I don't know.
-Come on, it'll be fun.
Boy, if this doesn't
bring back the memories.
-Egon!
-Doh!
Look!
The Ghostbusters ride.
Are you man enough to ride the Ecto-1?
Egon, can they do that?
I think our trademark is being infringed.
I think we should ride it and see.
Egon, come on.
Look.
Well, I've seen enough.
Egon, you can't get out here.
This is insulting!
Oh, Egon, is that supposed to be you?
We can't let them get away with this.
I want my money back
and I want to see the manager.
I'm the manager, young fella.
What seems to be the problem?
Who gave you the right to use our name?
You're Egon Spengler!
Let me shake your hand.
I'm proud to meet you, sir.
This ride is a joke.
Ghost busting is nothing like this.
Take it easy. It's just a ride.
But you didn't ask permission
The kids love it.
But I hate it, and we'll sue you.
Oh, yeah?
Arnie, this man is causing a disturbance.
Would you ask Moose and Rocco
to step up here?
You let go of him.
He's a scientist,
and a very famous person.
The boss said you should
get your money back
and take it to another carnival.
I'm a witness!
You assaulted this man and
Goodnight Miss.
Egon, you were wonderful.
Boy this new program is really something.
I'm impressed.
Yeah, Ghostbusters game.
Somebody should have
thought of this years ago.
But, Peter, there were
no Ghostbusters years ago.
Have a good time on your date?
It wasn't a date.
And no, I had a terrible time.
We may have a problem.
Did you insult her
and make her quit again?
No. Will you listen to me?
We got thrown out of a carnival.
Sounds more like my kind of evening.
Yo, that's not like you.
They're running a Ghostbusters ride.
With pictures of us, our sign,
and get this,
it's a roller coaster called
the Ecto-1.
I think we should sue.
I don't know if that's
really a very good idea.
Lawsuits are nothing
but trouble, Egon.
Yeah, some of those lawsuits
go on for years and cost a lot of money.
Well, what will we do?
I used to work on carnies in the summer
when I was in high school.
There are two things
to remember about carnies.
They move around a lot,
and they keep going
out of business.
I think we should just ignore it
and it'll go away.
What's going on?
Why did they stop?
Get 'em down.
All right, all right.
Whoa!
That did it.
God, that was crazy.
Right here.
Give them their money back.
I'll go take a look.
What!
Hello. Ghostbusters.
Yes. What
No, I remember you,
Mr. Moose and Rocco.
I'm the lady you had thrown out
of your seedy establishment last evening.
Obscene phone call?
It's the bozo from the carnival.
He says he needs us.
May I.
Hello, this is Dr. Peter Venkman.
May I help you?
Dr. Venkman, my name is Ray Kougar.
I have this little carnival
I've heard about that.
Yeah.
Well, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.
Think nothing of it.
How may we help you?
Oh, well, good.
We have this ride see, a roller coaster.
And it has this ghost tunnel on it
Well, we think it's really haunted
and we'd like you to come
and take a look at it.
That sounds pretty easy.
It does?
In fact, this is the kind of thing
you can do yourselves.
We can?
Sure.
Because this is nothing
but a cheap publicity stunt
to bring in business.
And we're not
gonna touch it.
Have a nice day.
That's telling him, Dr. V.
Ha, that's the last we'll hear
from those weasels.
It works fine now, Mr. Nadel.
Maybe it is haunted.
I always said
we should have got rid of it.
Nadel?
Pack her up.
-But
-They said it was a publicity stunt.
I'll show them.
Haunted roller coaster.
Ride at your own risk.
The ride even the Ghostbusters
are afraid to touch.
Crank her up.
Yo, you know I've rode
every roller coaster on the east coast.
The Ghostbusters must have
franchised this then.
Oh, Louie, I'm scared already.
I'll take care of you.
Whoa!
Huh? What the
Hey!
Ouch.
I told them not to do it.
Look!
So then he says,
"Where's my hydrogen cyanide?"
Imagine his surprise
when it turned out to be cadmium chloride.
We gotta get this boy
on the David Letterman Show.
You expecting company, Pete?
Not me.
Egon
Are you decent?
Egon?
What?
Come on down.
I've got something to show you.
Remember how I told you
that there used to be
some buildings on that lot
where we saw the carnie.
Well, I talked to my aunt Bella.
She says they built
those buildings in 1948.
Post war construction boom.
And before that it was vacant
since they tore down
some tenements in 1942.
Here.
I got this map from the
County Hall of Records.
In 1944, The Masik and Butterworth circus,
a big traveling show played that lot.
They had a terrible fire.
No people were killed.
But a lot of animals were burned up.
There, right on that spot.
You don't think
I'll get it.
Nah
No way.
Still
Hello. Ghostbusters.
That lot couldn't be haunted.
Could it?
It is.
Dr. Spengler, about the other night.
Really, I'm so sorry.
Don't bother to debase yourself.
To me, you may debase yourself.
Hey! Kougar.
All right, all right, I'm coming.
Hah!
Now, what's the problem?
That!
There's 10 people up there.
Can you get them down?
What do you think?
I think I'm afraid of heights.
We can do it.
How do we do it
without hitting the hostages?
We do it the same way the police do it.
We negotiate.
Is he really going up there?
Dumb.
Dumb.
Dumb, dumb.
He certainly has a lot of guts.
Oh, yes.
He's the bravest idiot I ever met.
Whoa!
Atta boy, Ray.
Do you think the insurance's paid up?
Attention!
Excuse me.
I am Dr. Ray Stantz.
A contract agent for the city of New York.
If you let those people go,
and tell us why you're angry,
perhaps we can come to an accommodation.
Um, er
Hey, I just wanna establish a dialog,
to make contact here.
Whoa!
Me and my big mouth.
I'm Ray Stantz.
I'm here to rescue you.
What do we do now, kemosabe?
I guess we wait for Ray to negotiate.
Duck!
"Everyone's fine. I'm fine.
Send in the marines. Love, Ray."
What do we do now?
We fall back on plan B.
What's plan B?
That's the one where we do
something that isn't stupid.
It shed the tail, just like a lizard.
Now what?
Termites?
We can't burn it, we'll kill the hostages.
No
But there may be a way.
I'll hold.
What keeps him on the lot?
If I were him, I'd head uptown.
Check out the night life.
You didn't do
the assigned reading, did you?
I didn't have time, teacher.
I had football practice.
It's made up of the ghosts
of all those animals.
Class 6 focused apparitions.
They can't leave.
Well, that simplifies things.
It does?
What do you have in mind?
We're gonna scare it.
Hello.
Chuck?
Pete Venkman.
I need a favor.
You still got an in with that
theatrical supply house?
Good, cause I need a little Mylar.
Yeah, about 1200 yards.
Do you know what that stuff costs?
Good, take down this address.
OK, ready?
Let him go.
It's pretty. What does it do?
Special effects.
Help me with this gasoline.
The spirits that possess
that roller coaster
got that way because of a fire.
If they see a bigger fire,
they may vacate and let us pick him off.
It just might work.
Well, let's do it.
Hey, what the
We got his attention. Heads up.
Whoa!
Come on. Over here. Watch yourselves.
Fire!
What's going on here?
You're all right.
Thank goodness, Ray,
you're all right man.
Yeah.
Have you got my shoes?
Man, am I glad to see you.
Negotiate.
Negotiate.
You turkey bird.
I'm glad this night is over.
You know, if you think about it,
a Ghostbuster ride,
official, of course, isn't a bad idea.
We can make it look
just like the thing we just fought.
The teeth, the way it moved.
It'll be great.
And all those sounds,
we can call it Busterland.
Then you could relive this
over and over and over.
What do you say, Ray?
A simple no would have been enough.
