Valor (2017) s01e10 Episode Script

Ciphers

1 Previously on 'Valor'.
Go, go, go, go! They have the package.
We're going down.
I'm an American citizen.
Don't let him do this! Move, or I will shoot through you.
GALLO: The prisoner who got away is Davis Goundry.
We stumbled onto something here.
Davis Goundry is a former Agency operative who flipped.
He knows the locations of Khalid's safe houses.
Jimmy is being held at one of them.
- Jimmy - I don't have much time.
A man named Khalid has sent uranium to an associate in the U.
S.
to make a bomb.
Of all the pilots that could have been in this helo It's like it was meant to be.
- SERENITY: I can take him.
- Engage.
Hey, where are the safe houses? Tell me! He's gone.
There's no bomb in here.
Sergeant Cho told me she heard something over the comms.
Made it sound like Goundry knew the soldiers from that night in Somalia They're hiding something.
It's time we knew what.
Davis gave me this.
He said it'll give you the answers you need.
[SIGHS.]
Okay.
[CHUCKLES.]
There we go.
[SIGHS.]
[CHUCKLES.]
Classic.
If you're watching this, it means that I'm dead.
But I don't want the truth to die with me, so I need you to listen carefully.
Black, like a nuclear bomb You feel the pain come The pain come As the swelling aches For fun.
[DOOR OPENS.]
Good morning.
Hey.
How early did you get up? I, uh, had a lot of thinking to do.
I need to tell you something, Ian.
Okay.
Something happened in Somalia.
I lied in my debrief.
I said that Richard and the prisoner bailed on us before we went down, and that we never saw them again.
But they were in the helo when we crashed.
- And I saw the prisoner's face.
- Slow down I couldn't let him drown, so I pulled off the hood, and he wasn't a Somali, like they told us.
He was an American.
I know now it was Davis Goundry, but Gallo and I didn't find that out until after we got back.
- Davis Goundry, who we just - Yes.
Yes.
Richard was going to kill him.
Go on.
I shot Richard.
I killed him.
I I don't even know where to start.
I had to do it.
He was going to shoot Gallo, too.
[PHONE RINGING.]
Who is it? Headquarters.
You should answer.
[RINGS.]
Um [SNIFFS.]
this is Madani.
Yeah.
Of course.
I'll be right there.
They want me to go in to headquarters for a follow-up debrief about Springer Mountain.
Are you going to tell them all this? No, Gallo and I made the decision not to say anything until we could find out the truth.
We didn't know who we could trust I'm sorry.
Right.
You realize how many rules you've broken? You'll be court-martialed for this, Nora.
If we can prove that we did the right thing back there, then we can clear our names.
And Goundry told me that he was not the traitor, Richard was.
Yeah, well, he's dead now.
It's gonna be pretty damn hard to prove.
We still have to try.
Have you thought about how how insane all of this is? I can't think about anything else.
[SNIFFLES.]
I have to go.
[PHONE RINGS.]
This is Porter.
Yeah.
Yes, sir.
Will do, sir.
They want me to come in, too, now.
Morning, Lieutenant.
Madani.
Captain.
Thank you, Captain Gallo, we'll let you know if we need anything else.
Which one of us would you like to interview first? Oh, no, we're interviewing her.
We just need you here for observation.
I wasn't in the helo last night when Goundry was.
I can't speak to Ms.
Madani's account of what happened.
Uh, of course, but you've been such a crucial part of the operation from the beginning.
I would really appreciate your insight here.
But not for Captain Gallo's interview.
We had a lightbulb moment.
Come on in.
Hey.
Find me after.
THEA: I had an illuminating exchange with Sergeant Cho last night.
Based on some things she heard over the comms, it seemed to her that you and Gallo had met Goundry before.
Ma'am, I don't know what she could have heard to make her think that.
He was talking to us, sure, but that's According to Sergeant Cho, he said, I quote, “You saw it,” referring to a scenario in which he had a hood over his head.
He was saying a lot of crazy things.
I can't remember all of them.
He had a gun on us.
THEA: We've taken the liberty of pulling your debrief from the mission that started all of this.
You said Richard and the prisoner bailed after the helo crashed, that you never saw them again.
That's correct.
Was the hood ever removed from the prisoner's head in your presence? - No.
- That prisoner was Davis Goundry.
You were helping the Agency exfil him after he turned traitor.
That is, until Khalid's men spotted your helo and shot it down.
So, if your story from that night is true, and you never saw the guy, how would Davis Goundry know who you are? Maybe he saw us that night, through the hood.
I thought I was here to talk about Springer Mountain, not Somalia.
Well, there are some missing links between the two.
Like why Goundry returned to the U.
S.
in the first place, or what happened to Officer Richard.
I think you may have some answers.
With all due respect, ma'am, the goal of this operation is finding Sergeant Kam.
It's not clear to me how any of these questions help us do that.
What is clear to me is that Ms.
Madani has nothing further to offer us.
You may go.
Thank you.
Did you get what you wanted by having me here? I figured she wouldn't lie in front of you.
A valiant effort, Thea, and now a dead one.
Sir, it doesn't add up that Goundry turned.
No bomb was found on his person last night, and the only proof that we have that he's bad is the proof Richard gave us.
Yeah, that is proof from a CIA officer, your mentor, and suddenly it's not good enough for you? It is possible that Goundry returned to the U.
S.
for another reason.
To get information or to give it.
Well, it's also possible to kill someone with a cotton ball, but highly unlikely.
You can take that to me and my colleague, doesn't agree with me.
You're dismissed, Lieutenant.
[SIGHS.]
Thank you.
I'm in this now, too.
I heard they pulled you in.
I don't know why they're riding us so hard on this one.
We need to go someplace we can really talk.
Leaning into my unit like this is a waste of time.
What you should be working on is finding Sergeant Kam, and now that Goundry's dead, we have absolutely no leads.
Rest assured, Colonel, the Agency is working on leads.
Gathering intelligence is not your area.
Hey, I lost a soldier out there.
I do not intend to just sit around and wait.
I need to know exactly what you're doing.
We're going to dig into the phone call between Sergeant and Mrs.
Kam to see if we can find any clues to his location.
Sergeant Kam said Khalid sent uranium to an associate in the U.
S.
, for a bomb.
Have you been able to corroborate that? THEA: No, but we have a team scanning chatter intercepts for anything useful.
- We need more.
- We have our best people working on it around the clock.
Well, you damn well better, because we are running out of time here.
[DOOR OPENS.]
He's right.
[DOOR CLOSES.]
Nora, I just lied for you.
Could put both of our careers on the line.
I never wanted that.
Well, you need to come clean now.
- Have faith in the system.
- How can I? They lied to us about who the prisoner was, then Richard tried to kill him.
- They're hiding something.
- That is the CIA, not the Army.
We can't come clean until we have answers.
That's what Gallo and I have been trying to do all this time.
[LAUGHS SOFTLY.]
[SIGHS.]
Thea thinks that something is off, too.
She doesn't believe that Goundry was a bad guy.
Good! That means we're on the same side.
Yeah, it does not change the fact that you killed a man - and covered it up.
- Whose side are you on, Ian? I'm not gonna turn you in.
I couldn't do that to you.
Even though it goes against everything that I've been trained to do as a soldier.
But I feel like I don't know who you are anymore, and I need to figure out what to do with that.
I'm glad you had time for a bite.
Yeah, I had to step away, clear my head.
This operation's at a standstill.
You can't blame yourself.
I need to be able to look my people in the eye, Mae.
To give Jess Kam some answers.
But instead she's left the base, gone to stay with her parents.
The word's gotten out that she was the leaker.
Yeah, I know.
People are gonna be angry about that.
Times like this, I should be the one bringing this community together.
And you do.
But the Army's changed since you started.
Now it's all about covert ops, intel gathering, CIA calling the shots half the time.
Can't tell you how many times I've heard you say that.
[LAUGHS SOFTLY.]
Yeah.
It's a new world.
[SIGHS.]
I'm just not sure what I add to it anymore.
You know, you used to say that you'd retire after 20 years in the service.
It's been 23.
I was the one who always told my unit “Never give up.
” All these times will change But once we're through this operation maybe it's time.
[KNOCKING ON DOOR.]
[DOG BARKING.]
Hey.
I have been trying to reach you all day.
I've been dealing with things.
He hold to our story? In the room with him? Of course.
Is that why you wanted to see me? - To ask me that? - No.
I got something to show you.
Come on.
Wait.
I told Ian.
You told him Everything we've been hiding.
Are you out of your mind? I couldn't keep it from him anymore.
We have been in this together since the beginning.
You know how many times I've covered your ass.
N-N-Now you just tell him.
Just like that.
Oh, Nora.
So, what? What did he say? - He was shocked.
- Yeah.
I'll bet.
Is he gonna turn us in? No.
[SIGHS.]
I wouldn't have told him if I didn't think we'd made the right choice over there.
[SIGHS.]
But now we really need proof.
That's why I've been trying to get ahold of you.
Goundry's sister brought me something.
She said it'd have the answers we need.
If you're watching this, it means that I'm dead.
But I don't want the truth to die with me.
So I need you to listen carefully.
You dodge the hide of the indigo elephant.
Jeep drive against the jewel.
Face the music.
Yeah.
It's about where I am 15 viewings in, too.
MADANI: It's obviously a code.
I geeked out over this stuff in training.
Me, too, me, too, but I'm coming up dry here.
Look.
Goundry knew where Khalid's safe houses are, where Jimmy is, and a whole lot more that could clear our asses, but how is any of that in here? He wanted us to have it.
He must have thought that we could crack it.
Let's just watch it again.
JIMMY: Okay, since this is the last time I speak to you, I want you to know that I love you - and I forgive you for everything.
- JESS: Don't say that.
JIMMY: And tell Max he's my big guy.
- Always.
- [CRYING.]
: Jimmy.
Jimmy! Imagine thinking that's the last time you might hear someone's voice.
I'm sorry? That's what they're going through, sir.
Definition of tragic.
But, frankly, Porter, I haven't heard a word they've said, and neither should you.
Listen to the background.
Tell me what you hear.
I want you to know that I love you, and I forgive you for everything.
[SIGHS.]
- Don't say that.
- And tell Max he's my big guy.
- Always.
- Jimmy.
Jimmy! Almost nothing.
Like it's a soundproof room? There's an echo.
Slight one.
Maybe I guess, concrete walls? Let's listen to it again.
Okay, since this is the last time I speak to you, I want you to know that I love you There's a supply run this week to Kandahar.
A bunch of us are trying to get on.
It'd be fun.
Get the hell out of here for a day.
- When? - Wednesday.
Right.
Um Yeah, I don't know.
I was thinking about laying low.
Seriously? There's a movie theater there.
Yeah, the movie might be two years old, but who cares? Air conditioning, popcorn.
We can make out like teenagers.
Well, that does sound pretty good.
I kind of like it on base when it's quiet.
You sure? Something else on your mind? You know, you can tell me.
It's just I am very particular about my popcorn - Oh.
Oh, okay.
- Yeah.
- Okay.
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
- Yeah, so Okay.
Well, maybe I'll bring you back some gummy worms.
- Oh.
- Ooh.
Hey.
I want you to know I love you.
I love you, too, babe.
[NUDGES.]
Head in the game, Porter.
Face the music.
I hate to say this, but we're not gonna figure it out on our own.
What happened to Code Breaker McGee? This is next level.
Well, maybe Ian can help.
He's got a lot more training in ciphers.
He's busy working with Magnus.
Plus, he doesn't exactly want to hear from me right now.
Fair enough.
What about Thea? Thea? You mean Thea who we both lied to this morning? She wants to prove Goundry was good as much as we do.
And she wants to prove we're lying.
Since day one.
So we go to her, we say what? “Hey, we never met the guy, but this tape just - fell into our laps.
” - Look, the way to crack this is to find someone who knew Goundry well.
Thea did.
So why didn't he give it to her, then? Because he didn't trust anyone in the end, besides us.
That's what he said.
Now it's up to us to decide who else to trust.
MAN: Sir.
Here are the most recent translations.
Just came in.
Thank you.
[MUTTERING.]
- What the - Mm.
Mm, mm, mm, mm, mm.
New chatter intercepts.
Yeah, but there's something not right about this one.
It reads like a Google Translate on a bad day.
Huh.
We got our top people on this.
I know.
Which is why I think it might be a dialect issue or a rare variant of Arabic, maybe.
If it is and our guys aren't getting it, we could be missing a huge piece of this puzzle.
We are in violent agreement, but unless you magically speak this dialect Well, I think I might know somebody who can help.
Oh, look at you.
Plan B.
Swing away.
But she is - a civilian.
- Even better.
She won't know what she's looking at.
We'll have her sign an NDA, put her in a sterile room.
Well, I'll call her first thing in the morning.
Hate to break it to you, Porter, but it is first thing in the morning.
Time flies when you're having fun! [KNOCKING.]
Good morning, soldiers.
Who doesn't like a little fraternization for breakfast? Here I was hoping you brought doughnuts.
Goundry told us he had evidence to back his story and where to find it.
Why would he reveal that to the two of you if he'd never met you before? Because he thought he was about to die.
And he was right.
And is there a reason you didn't bring this up, say, I don't know, uh, yesterday when I asked you directly about it? We didn't want to pull you into this until we actually had it.
Hmm.
And we didn't want to bring it up in front of Magnus.
He doesn't believe there's any way Goundry could have been good.
He is still my boss, and he will need to be looped in on this.
Once we're clear on what we have.
Thank you for coming on such short notice, Professor Benning.
Right this way.
You can call me Olivia, Lieutenant.
After all, you're not in one of my seminars.
Wow.
I-I'm sorry, you're gonna have to allow me a moment to take in my surroundings.
[CHUCKLES.]
Yeah, I guess I'm just used to it.
I hope I'm able to help.
Is anything specific you're looking for in these documents? Just the translation would be helpful.
- Sir, this is Professor Benning.
- Welcome.
We have a room set aside for you to go over the transcripts.
I hope you understand that an officer will be in there with you at all times.
Obviously, this is classified.
- Understood.
- Outstanding.
Uh, Lieutenant Porter here will set you up.
That's the director of special activities, Tucker Magnus? I'm aware.
Why are you? I spent my career studying Somalia.
He's been involved in a lot of the CIA's operations there.
Not all of which I agree with, I must say.
I I cannot speak to that, ma'am.
Understood.
You do your job, and I'll do mine.
GOUNDRY: You dodge the hide of the indigo elephant.
Jeep drive against the jewel.
Face the music.
You weren't saving this, were you? I think that's been here for at least three weeks.
How often are you here, Ms.
Madani? More than you, I guess.
What, you guys always use your place? [CHUCKLES.]
Is there anything you two don't tell each other? Okay, so, if I'm right, Goundry is using an advanced CIA cipher in this video.
Can you run it again? [TAPE REWINDS.]
GOUNDRY: You dodge the hide of the indigo elephant.
Jeep drive against the jewel.
Pause it.
Rewind it.
You dodge the hide of the indigo elephant.
Jeep drive against the jewel.
Face the music.
- Play it again.
- [TAPE REWINDS.]
Face the music.
Again.
Are you sure you're not just making stuff up so it looks pretty? Oh, I'm sorry.
Would you like to crack this on your own, or? No.
No, just keep on Zuckerberging.
Thank you.
That was quite fun, actually.
It's a fairly rare Iraqi dialect.
One speaker is native, the other clearly isn't.
That's good to know.
Thank you.
Yes, though, I have to say I'm not sure what's said's very significant.
We shall see.
Lieutenant Porter, this is your contact? Yes, sir.
She's given us a new translation on the chatter.
Could be helpful.
You're welcome to take a look, Colonel, when you have time.
Porter, uh, when you are through here, I would like to get back to that other thing.
Also, I need a snack.
You know, I was thinking something savory, but truly, it might be time for something sweet.
[CHUCKLES.]
You? I'm good, sir.
Okay.
Thank you again, Professor.
Olivia.
Olivia.
Please, let me know if you ever need anything else.
Hmm.
[GALLO GRUNTS.]
Seriously? Yeah, I-I have high confidence that I decoded that correctly.
Thank you.
Three sets of numbers, first two have decimal points.
First two are coordinates.
Latitude and longitude.
Okay, we got options depending on the order.
One's in Greenland.
Ooh, yeah.
I had a bit of a situation there back in 2015, but I will totally go back if we need to.
Okay.
Uh, the other one's 30 miles away.
That makes more sense.
It's either a storage unit or a dumpling house.
What about these four numbers? 5242.
Well, if it's a storage facility, could be the unit number.
Hold up.
We're not all gonna fit in your truck.
I hate the kickback in your car.
No, it's fine.
I'll drive.
Can I pick the music? - No.
- No.
Madani, you're shotgun.
Gallo, you're in the back.
Nice parking job.
Nice landscaping.
[CLASSICAL MUSIC PLAYING.]
Lieutenant.
Look through these with me.
I went further back to before the initial mission, and I found a pattern.
You think there's something relevant, sir, this far back? I think we decide what's relevant.
You got a key or some form of I.
D.
? Yeah, I've got this.
It's a matter of national security.
Okay, 5242.
Eh, it's stuck.
Okay.
[SIGHS.]
Light's out.
[SIGHS.]
Well, this is a whole new code to crack.
How are we going to find what we need in here? I knew Goundry.
The cipher this he was a master at the art of misdirect.
It's in here somewhere.
I'm glad you're amused.
He was good.
It's a shame.
Has it occurred to anyone that we don't even know what we're looking for? I'd say documents of some sort, a hard drive, maybe.
We'll know it when we see it.
Let's start digging.
You're right, sir.
These old transcripts of Khalid, there's a pattern to his speech, a reuse of certain phrases.
And on this page from today's chatter? Same patterns.
This is Khalid talking in the Iraqi dialect.
- And look who we's talking to.
- An ISIS operative.
And they're talking about cake for red kite.
- Yeah, but what does that mean? - Red kite is a term I came across in other chatter, too.
It's a bird of prey native to Iraq.
"In slang, it's often used to mean “bomb”, and “cake" - is yellowcake.
- Yellowcake.
Uranium.
That backs up what Jimmy said on the phone.
Khalid has gotten uranium into this country, and someone here - is turning it into a weapon.
- [SIGHS.]
I'll share this with Magnus.
He needs to make this top priority.
Thank you for calling me in on this, sir.
You remind me of what Shadow Raiders do best, Lieutenant.
What's that? We don't quit.
[SPUTTERS.]
Greenland's looking pretty good right about now.
Do you really think he'd bury it this deep? It was crucial information he was trying to protect.
He had to be careful.
Well, I'm whistling up the wind here.
Wait.
He said “face the music.
” Right, which got us the number - of this unit.
- Right.
But what if it meant more? I saw something.
Here.
Thanks.
Well, I'll be damned.
Okay, we've got something here.
Looks like Goundry gathered everything that he could on Khalid.
There's got to be a list of safe houses in here somewhere.
This should lead us to Sergeant Kam.
Okay, so, Goundry did track Khalid's safe houses, but there are five of them, so we still have some work to do.
Still, that's huge.
There's also transcripts of a phone call.
Khalid's on one side.
Who's on the other? Code name Matador.
I have no idea who that is.
Yeah, Goundry didn't mention a matador.
He did mention snake eyes, though.
Like the domino, maybe? Khalid had a domino in that video.
His negotiator had one, too.
I don't know what to tell you about that.
Okay, we need to take this to command, get more resources on it.
We're in.
- MAE: I didn't know you'd be home.
- Hey, you.
I can't stay.
Just wanted to come lay my eyes on you.
[LAUGHS.]
Well, you caught me in the middle of a deep dive in real estate porn.
Uh-oh.
What brought that on? I'm just thinking about things, places.
Going to California, finding a place in SLO, driving a ridiculous car - with the top down.
- Mmm.
Yeah, that sounds nice.
[CHUCKLES.]
Really nice.
I miss California.
Me, too.
What is my work-around-the-clock husband really doing home in the middle of the day? I cracked something today, Mae.
Something big.
That's great.
Working with Porter made me realize there is still a lot of good I can do.
Even in this new world.
Well, I guess California isn't going anywhere.
I'm just not ready to be done yet.
[CHUCKLES SOFTLY.]
And I keep thinking if we bring Sergeant Kam home - When you do - how can I look him in the face and tell him I'm leaving? Hmm.
But I still need to be able to look you in the face.
If you can tell me, for a fact, that California isn't going anywhere, I'll do my best not to divorce you.
I will put my best soldiers on ensuring the stability of California.
I love you.
I love you, too, baby.
Thea set a meeting for 1500 to share what we found.
Ian's gonna be there.
We haven't really talked since Since you told him everything? You're right.
I should have warned you first.
I just needed to be done with it all the lying.
It's hard on me, too.
Hey, what we found today It might be enough to prove that Goundry wasn't bad.
That we did the right thing by saving him.
We could come clean now.
We'd be court-martialed.
But we'd have a solid defense.
And we'd be off the rescue mission.
We have to get Jimmy back first.
We're so close.
All right.
But after we get him back, we get the truth out.
Once and for all.
Don't look at me like you're waiting for my permission.
You never do.
Goundry's assignment was to oversee the purchase and subsequent destruction of black market uranium.
When he discovered that Khalid wasn't keeping his end of the bargain, and stockpiling the uranium in safe houses instead, he started documenting everything.
MADANI: He used a contact in the German intel service to access calls from Khalid's phones.
These are the transcripts.
The man on the other end used the name Matador.
He and Khalid were making plans to sell the uranium to the highest bidder.
A deal which would have made both of them very rich.
Ma'am, do we know who Matador is? - Uh, no.
- Yes.
Matador is Officer Richard.
THEA: I'm sorry, what? I was never read in on that.
You're not the only one.
It was a higher-clearance code name.
Looks like he made Goundry the fall guy.
So Richard was the traitor, not Goundry.
He played us.
You were right.
[CLEARS THROAT.]
Officer Thea, you were absolutely right.
Now [CLEARS THROAT.]
how about those safe houses? Uh, the documents list five locations.
GALLO: We just need to find the right one.
HASKINS: We can rule out the hospital.
After we raided it, no way Khalid would go back.
Lieutenant Porter and I scoured the audio from Sergeant Kam's call home.
There was very little ambient noise almost none - So that rules out the Burco airstrip.
- That's it.
- That's what you're hearing: Nothing.
- Come again? There wasn't any ambient noise because it's underground.
This location is a Somali army facility abandoned in the '90s.
It has an underground bunker.
Makes a lot of sense as a hiding place.
Yes, outstanding.
We will start satellite surveillance immediately.
If we can place Khalid there, it's highly likely Sergeant Kam is with him.
He wouldn't let go of an asset that valuable, not this late in the game.
Get started on a mission plan.
How we'd fly in, how we'd fly out, and if he's there, we'll have to move fast.
- Hooah.
- Hooah.
We're gonna get Jimmy this time.
I have a good feeling about it.
So do we, sir.
- Let's choose to trust in that.
- Hell yeah.
MAGNUS: Nice work.
On the bomb intel, too.
Here I thought you got all misty-eyed on me after listening to that phone call.
Not sure how it is in the Agency, but soldiers don't get misty.
I know how you lost your dad, Porter.
And I'm not gonna let something like that happen under my watch.
If there's a bomb out there, we will find it.
Hey.
Colonel Krebs told me to report at 0800.
You, too? [CHUCKLES.]
I asked him to help me get you here.
Wanted to surprise you.
You didn't go out with the others today? Nope.
Get in.
- Wait, you're flying? - Nuh-uh.
Got us a couple of taxi drivers.
- Let's go.
- Uh Uhh Okay, okay.
Thought you had your heart set on a movie.
Ian, I know what today is.
The 26th.
I remembered.
It's the day your father died in the attack.
I didn't want to say anything.
Why not? It's me.
Because it is you.
Because I care, because our lives are hard enough without me pulling you down with me.
And I-I'm used to getting through this day on my own.
Isn't that the whole point of being with someone That you don't have to get through this alone? I don't want you deciding what I can and cannot handle with you.
I'm all-in.
And I promise to fully burden you with all of my issues, too.
Oh, you promise that? [LAUGHS.]
: Yes.
Now, I don't know what you're used to doing stateside to honor your father, but since we're here, thought maybe we could fly a flag for him.
He would love that.
Let's skip the start And tear apart Like we were never lost You'll tumble in my gaze But you won't find the answers We're together lost We're forever lost Between the lights and the Anteros Where we live And we laugh And we lie.
Hey.
Just thinking about the day we flew my father's flag.
Afghanistan.
I remember.
You told me that you were all-in.
I meant it.
I know that we went into this with open hearts, but it's changed.
You've been lying to me for months now.
I did it to protect you.
[SCOFFS.]
Myself, too.
Every day When we went to bed, when we woke up You decided not to tell me.
And somewhere along the way, I stopped being your person.
All the important pieces in your life Those real pieces they started going to somebody else.
Okay You're right.
When I told you the truth I left out the most important part.
Apologizing.
[SIGHS.]
Ian, I don't know how to make it up to you.
I can try.
I can try every day.
- I just - No, that's not what I want our relationship to become.
That You trying to trying to win me, and-and me always trying to not resent you That's not what we should be.
Then let's be who we are.
I love you.
I love you, too.
But I cannot look at you without thinking about all the lies that I've missed.
We both deserve better than that.
I'm sorry.
I can't do this anymore.
